Barber's Tomb, also known as Nai-ka-Gumbad, is a historical monument in Delhi, India. It is located in the vicinity of Humayun's Tomb and is part of the World Heritage Site in the area. The tomb is believed to be the final resting place of a royal barber who served during the Mughal era. Barber's Tomb is a small, but architecturally significant structure with an octagonal design. It reflects Mughal architectural styles and is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of the time. While it may be smaller in scale compared to other nearby monuments, it is an interesting historical site worth exploring for its unique place in the Mughal history of Delhi.

Barber's Tomb is situated just beside the Great Humayuns tomb. Locally referred to as Nai ka Maqbara (“Barber’s Tomb”), the striking tomb supposedly belongs to the royal barber who served Humayun. This particular tomb is the only structure to be built within the Humayun’s Tomb complex after the completion of the emperor’s mausoleum.

This is the only tomb inside the Charbagh after Humayun's, located southeast of the Humayun’s Tomb. There is no inscription to identify who is buried in it. But as per the board of Archaeological Survey of India, It's said that this tomb belongs to the barber of Humayun. The mausoleum is popularly called Nai Ka Gumbad also known as Barber's Tomb. The magnificent tomb is built using red and grey sandstone, tilted canopies, minarets, and sandstone screens give the tomb its striking character. The tomb has within it the ornamental cenotaphs of one male and one female.

Towards the south-east corner, within the Char Bagh, lies a tomb known as Nai-ka-Gumbad, or Barber's Tomb, belonging to royal barber, it is datable to 1590-91 CE, through an inscription found inside. Its proximity to the main tomb and the fact that it is the only other structure within the main tomb complex suggests its importance, however, there are no inscriptions suggesting as to who is interred therein, the name Barbers tomb is the local name of the structure, hence still in use

Humayun’s tomb was built by his wife Hamida Banu Begum in his memory. Its construction work lasted for eight years (1565 to 1572). Hamida Banu Begum was the mother of the third Mughal emperor Akbar. During the time of the Ghulam dynasty, this land was located in the Kilokari Fort, which was the capital of Sultan Qaiqabad, the son of Nasiruddin Mahmud (ruled 1246–1266). This place was chosen for the mausoleum because there was also Hazrat Nizamuddin (dargah) on the banks of river Yamuna.Saint Nizamuddin was the famous Sufi saint of Delhi. After the death of Humayun on 20 January 1556, his body was initially buried in the old fort of Delhi. The construction of the tomb began in 1565, nine years after Humayun’s death and was completed in 1572 AD. The construction of this mausoleum was completed at that time at Rs 1.5 million which was borne by the Queen alone.

I guess someone got confused with the name. The marked. Monument is called Barbers's tomb or Nai ka Maqbura which is located inside Babur's Garden or Bagh-e-Babur. This is a beautiful minor 16th century monument in the Humayun's Tomb Complex dedicated to the Badshah's barber.

Must visit once, it has been renovated after Covid and the parks are well maintained and add to the beauty of the mughal architecture. Book tickets online from website of Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for easy check in process as the line to the physical ticket counter is long and waiting time could be as long as 20-30 minutes depending on the day and time. There are 3 major buildings and the time taken to cover all the area would be about 40-60 minutes. There are plenty of spots to snap a pic and it is a family friendly place.

Barber's Tomb also known as Nai-ka-Maqbara is at the south corner of Humayun's tomb It is believed that this tomb belongs to the royal barber of Humayun. This is not the only monument dedicated to a barber. Another small ruined fort called Nai ka Kot or Barbers fort stands south of Tughlaqabad fort

Barber's tomb is located inside humayuns tomb compound. It's not as huge as humayuns tomb but it's its own importance.

The Barber’s tomb is part of the exhibit in Humayun’s tomb. There is not much about the history you’d know unless you have a tour guide. You can see this from the main tomb. If you do not have time, skip walking till this one.

Mysterious, my senses were immediately captivated by the mystical aura that enveloped this hidden gem. The tomb, a testament to Mughal craftsmanship, stood in quiet reverence, echoing tales of a bygone era. As I traced the intricacies of its architecture, a profound curiosity gripped me—the amalgamation of Persian and Indian design whispered secrets of centuries past. The meticulous symmetry and ornate details, from the elegant arches to the delicately carved lattice windows, ignited a sense of wonder. Each step unfolded a narrative, leaving me mesmerized by the symbiosis of artistic brilliance and historical significance. Preservation efforts echoed a commitment to timelessness. The weathered textures on the tomb's surface bore witness to the passage of epochs, creating an almost palpable connection with history. The interplay of light and shadows within the sacred confines elicited a profound sense of reverence. The Barber's Tomb, veiled in an air of mystery, beckoned with an invitation to unravel its secrets. This architectural masterpiece left me in awe, a testament to the artistry of the past that continues to captivate the imagination with its whispered tales of grandeur and antiquity.
