The market is strategically located but not well planned. Stores are few and only few get it. All others sell out beside the road which makes it uneasy for people to commute. Of recent the Kanifing Municipal Council embarks on a cleansing service to keep the market clean. The council needs to continue the exercise in order to make the market more conducive.

Went through SerreKunda Market via the second hand clothes side, see lot of business men and women selling secondhand clothes but that's not the lovely thing about there, being the secondhand clothes side doesn't make it just unique for that because you can see lovely men and women selling other things like fish, groceries, jewelries, new clothes for babies and adults, live hen and many more amazing things.

Vibrant open market in Serrekunda. Wide range of outdoor stalls and shops selling everything from shoes to fruits and drinks. Not as hectic as those in Guinea Conakry. Felt safe and easy to bargain. Crowded with people and debris on the ground, with tight car traffic, so better to walk.

My visit to Serrekunda Market was an extraordinary experience, highlighting the vibrant heart of Gambia's commerce and culture. One of the most striking aspects of this bustling market is the predominance of women merchants. It's inspiring to see them at the forefront, showcasing their entrepreneurial spirit and skills. These women vendors offer an impressive array of locally produced goods. From handwoven textiles rich in color and pattern to an assortment of handmade crafts, every stall presents a piece of Gambia's cultural heritage. The selection of goods is remarkably diverse, providing a broader shopping experience than many other markets I've visited. The quality of the products is exceptional, reflecting the dedication and craftsmanship of the local artisans. You can find everything from traditional clothing and accessories to household items, all made with a personal touch that adds to their uniqueness. What's truly captivating is the lively atmosphere created by these women. Their energy and warmth make shopping an enjoyable and interactive experience. They are knowledgeable about their products and eager to share stories behind each item, adding a personal connection to each purchase. The market's layout is well-organized, making it easy to navigate through the wide selection of goods. Despite its size, the market has a welcoming and intimate feel, thanks to the friendly nature of the vendors. In summary, Serrekunda Market deserves a five-star rating for its empowering showcase of women merchants, the incredible variety of locally produced goods, and the warm, vibrant atmosphere. It's not just a place to shop; it's a cultural experience that celebrates the heart and soul of Gambia.

I went there two times. First time not brave enough to go in as it is so busy! But after a while in Gambia I stopped to be afraid. The market is extremely busy (best time to go is Sunday morning when leas busy) and crowded. Be careful with your belongings and phone/camera. I could see several boys watching us. You should have a local to walk with you as it is very easy to get lost there as the place is just huge with several sections. There is also small part with souvenirs. Market is tiny bit more expensive than the one in Banjul (which is bigger) and you can buy here everything what you need. It is very dusty and dirty, loud but with great atmosphere. Be prepared to be pushed all the time and forget the “british” politeness otherwise you will get stuck here.

Wow, just wow! This is the dirtiest, smelliest, hottest and busiest place I have ever been to but its well worth the experience. I didn't see one thing I wanted to buy but I wouldn't have missed the experience for the world!

It's amazing with all you can find in this place. However, if you got a problem with trauma or being around closed in cramped areas with too many people, this may not be the place for you. Send someone else to buy things for you but if you looking for something this is the place you start at. You'll get a good price as long as you can bargain for it.Also come viewers at our YouTube channel Musa's Journey and you can see these places in video where we going by there and you know deal with everybody locally

The smells of the local market were great. Fish, fresh vegetables to name a few. Every thing you need for the home is on sale here and much more. Shea butter by the kilo, what a delight.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The craft market is an amazing place to get souvenirs and beautiful african style outfits for yourself and loved ones back home. They have something for everyone. It's a huge market strip with loads of locals and tourists...it's easy to get lost if you're not from here...so be careful and be aware of your surroundings!
