Cute remodeled boutique hotel. The ambiance was great and the hotel looked clean and nice. There was only valet parking ($15) from what we saw, but it was very seamless and the folks there were helpful and nice. Checking in was also fairly quick and the employees were friendly. We had the 40 Winks Room, which is the king sized bed room, and that was comfortable. The room was the size you'd expect it to be, not too small not too big, but did have a fridge and a tv. Warning that you can see right through the glass from the bed to the toilet/shower. There's a curtain, but it doesn't do much. I don't know how the other rooms or bathrooms are situated, but this didn't take away from our experience as the room and bathroom were clean and nice. Not much outside noise either, if any. We had dinner at the restaurant in the lobby. We had the pesto pasta primavera and the elk burger and they were delicious. We picked up coffee in the cafe downstairs as well and that was fine. Overall, we loved our stay here. If we ever need a place in Bakersfield in the future we'll definitely try this hotel first. Especially since it was just a small amount more than surrounding hotels that were nowhere as nice as this hotel.

The front desk reception staff was very unhelpful, to the point of rude. AC didn't work in the room, bathroom sink didn't drain. Carpet shabby in guest room. Our room over looked a party, very loud. Also near the elevator. We were offered ear plugs rather than a different room. The only redeeming quality was it was close the The Horse in the Alley restaurant.

Stayed for a week and maid service was spotty. Toiletries were not restocked, used towels removed but not replaced, etc. and alerting the front desk did not resolve. I had to clear a wad of hair from the shower drain upon fist use. Room service was great and the food was well prepared.

Probably gonna get some heat for this, but I used to work there. I wanted to because I thought it would be proper and the quality amazing. 1. ROACHES. They are everywhere, I open up a drawer to make food and they are literally crawling in the bacon, ham and bread. This place needs major renovation to get rid of them they are literally EVERYWHERE. I felt horrible serving food out like this. 2. Read the menu, we're major foodies here! We have a baker that makes amazing fresh baked bread only for us to freeze it to use later? Way to make something fresh and amazing frozen like a chain restaurant. 3. It's coin toss how you're foods going to come out. Half the cooks/chefs care and the others are there to get a check and push out the bare minimum quality. For the nicest place in town to work/eat I was massively disappointed. I could go on and on but these were the major points that stuck with me. Edit: Also, you have people you see pushing out exceptional quality and you need a new sous chef? What's the solution? Not promoting from within based on performance. Hire some random guy to come act like the boss and breathe down everybody's neck (definitely not helping speed or quality when I have to look up to talk to you every 30 seconds new sous.)

The Padre Hotel is located in downtown Bakersfield. It’s beautiful. The rooms are very comfortable with their lovely furnishings. There are 2 bars located inside the Padre. I’ve had some amazing experiences here.

Came in from Las Vegas to see a comedy show at the Historic FOX Theater. Pulled into valet, so professional and friendly gentleman, opened doors, helped with bags, excellent service coming in!!!! Front Desk ladies were very friendly also, helpful I am hard of hearing. This is a historic building, and it has been well kept. Floors are pristine white, painted and decor are eye popping, and they compliment the entire interior, Bar is beautiful dark wood, black iron stair rails to the rooms and out door patio area, a sandwich and coffee restaurant, opened limited hour (The Farmacy), Brimstone also has a diverse menu, Drinks were well made and our table server was excellent, prompt and attentive as guest should be treated, thank you young lady!!!! Going to the rooms, we used the elevator, classic looking, the seating area outside the elevator on our floor had a nice art piece of a classic car wrapped in the corner 🔥, the hall to our room had awesome wallpaper designs as well as the rooms number!!!! Entertaining very clean, well decorated, floor to ceiling drapes on every window!!! Draw back, they were not hanging properly, smashed flat behind the couch, and hung up on the TV!!!! This room is quite pricey, so you expect things to be quite nice!!!! Tile was beautifully done in the bathroom, but the shower handel was hanging on by hope and a prayer that was just lazy maintenance. It should have been fixed immediately!!! You know housekeeping reported that issue!!!! Overall, it is a beautiful, historic hotel, I will stay again and recommend it if you visit or just out for dinner and drinks. A great spot!!!! 🥂👍🏼

The Padre Hotel provided our family the experience of a lifetime! The Prairie Fire at The Padre was THE BEST OUTDOOR VENUE IN TOWN!!! I could not believe how perfect this was for our hosting of the celebration of life we held. It would make an absolute perfect venue for weddings, birthdays, work-related celebrations and anything else you could possibly imagine!!! The staff was second to none as they smiled throughout and were ALWAYS ready to serve! The route to get there was so easy with it being at the entrance of the second floor once you get off the luxurious elevator. All of the walking space (ramp entrance) is perfectly set-up to unveil the most beautiful venue you have ever seen in this town!!! The food? AMAZING!!! The servings were perfect! I suggest this venue for anybody who wants the time of their life!!!

We spend time in Bakersfield now..rather then drive straight through to San Francisco because of the Padre Hotel, it is brought so much more to our trips. The food in the restaurants the service from the staff the rooms all excellent and centrally located can't speak highly enough of the staff. It really has meant a great deal to us it's no aces in central California. Can't tell you how much we enjoy it and how it's changed our driving habits. Used to be if we got to Bakersfield we just drive straight through now we've put an extra day in our schedule to spend time there at the Padre and a beautiful evening every time we've been there. And it's centrally located. Then the Fox Theater has very good shows and it's all in Walking District I don't know

Cute boutique hotel right in downtown Bakersfield. The decor is modern and chic while the rooms are clean, well decorated, and thoughtfully laid out, if not exactly theost spacious. Made for a super comfortable stay for a business trip and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Looking forward to a future stay here that hopefully allows me a little more time to explore.

This is for the Brimstone Bar. Great service and server - made up for the menu transition where some main plates not available. He very graciously split a bill about 14 ways. Poached pear salad was good, other dishes looked great. Located in historic hotel The Padre, spacious, windows, and great gathering option.

Food is way overpriced for the portions and drinks are also overpriced. Used to be a better place to come to but something has changed recently. I was shocked at the tiny tiny steak maybe 6 oz at best and it was $34. This was not some nice cut of meat either this was a flat iron steak. I guess at least I got a heaping portion of fries. Just a massive disappointment for the amount of money spent. Taste was fine but portions are way off for this price.

The Padre is definitely the best place to stay in Bakersfield hands down. The room service is fast and friendly, as well as all other staff. Food is great, and they serve a fresh Bitburger non alcoholic beer.

This review is based only on the food lounge, for I have yet to stay here. Food is excellent! Honestly hands down to the kitchen, food tops pretty much almost if not any restaurant in town! There isn't a major variety but the menu is simple and not cluttered with too much. Which is perfect cause they focus heavily on the items they have! Nothing was too salty nothing was bland. Everything was enriched with flavor and honestly everything taste fresh and high quality. I had a padre old fashion for my drink and it seem watered down it was perfect! My friends enjoyed their food too! The vibe and staff are wonderful. I'd definitely recommend this place to hangout and enjoy some food!

Honestly Padre hotel has some of the best desserts I’ve had! You have to have to try the banana pudding and the blondie. Amazing! And there’s this drunk they have autumn sunset which is a perfectly balanced sweet drink.

We have booked a stay-cation for our upcoming wedding anniversary on December 13th. As we drove home from a friend's house a few nights ago, we decided to pop in for a little preview with a cocktail and a little bite to eat. The service, snacks and libations did not disappoint. We look forward to our stay in the Head Honcho suite and a soak in the Jacuzzi tub. I can't wait to see how the tub is filled from the ceiling. Stay tuned...

Stay was nice room was clean and quiet. We ordered room service and the food was extremely over salted! We couldn’t finish any of our food and the kitchen was already closed by the time we realized this. I would expect more from food that is way overpriced Good place to stay, not a good place to eat.

I recently had a short stay at the Padre Hotel in Bakersfield. This place is definitely a gem! The hotel is locate in a convenient location close to plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and a splattering of unique retail. The design of the lobby is brights welcoming and incredibly easy to navigate with an attractive boutique hotel vibe. If you are the type of person who enjoys relaxing and hunkering down they have you covered. A morning cafe with coffee and breakfast, a great restaurant that services lunch, dinner and late-night drinks, as well as room service if you really want to truly hunker down. I can say hands down that the service I received from each staff member was excellent: from the front desk, to the restaurant staff, to the maintenance department (my door key initially wouldn’t work), to the staff that expedited the food from the kitchen. Everyone was professional, incredibly polite, personable and kind. Huge shout-out to Taylor at the front desk who made me feel like I was an important guest of the hotel. Her warmth, humor and personable demeanor should be an example to anyone in the hospitality industry. As well I want to thank Rob and Nico at the bar who were incredibly kind and offered awesome service and great conversation. They are both truly friendly and helpful guys. I highly recommend the stay and by all means go sit at the bar. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed, bright and clean and the staff want to make sure you have everything that you need to be comfortable. This isn’t a place with a staff that recites memorized questions and canned service statements but a place full of unique people that truly want to provide real service to their clientele. I cannot recommend the Padre Hotel enough. I hope you are able to get service from Taylor, Rob, and Nico…they rock!

We had a decent night's sleep even with the furniture moving around up above us...lol. Oh, it's haunted and fun. Great little restaurant. The staff is absolutely awesome here. Located a block from historic FoxTheatre.

I came to Bakersfield on Business and I asked about a Hotel from a few locals and They both said I needed to stay at least one night at the “Padre Hotel” and am I ever glad I did!.. I can’t say enough about the hotel staff, Restaurant, and Bars…. Yes two bars.. the building was built in the early 1900’s and as a builder they went above and beyond on the Renovation. Top shelf everything and they spared no expense and their attention to detail is impeccable. I will be back to stay again and again. Luxurious and comfortable at a price that will make you smile…

We came in town for the rodeo so decided to get a hotel for the night, chose the Padre Hotel seen the reviews and seemed like a great place to stay . When we first got here we were greeted by vallet very nice and welcoming. Check-in was quick and easy. They were having an event there so it was very live and busy, honestly seemed like a great place to hangout, we were excited to comeback and have some drinks at the bar after the rodeo. Went up to our room to get ready, as far as room was a good size, clean honestly my only complaint was lighting wish had better lighting, but other then that was great room. 👍 Now to the downside of our stay🙄 after our night out at rodeo we came back to our room to freshen up and go down stairs to the bar/restaurant was around 11pm. Was a very good vibe when we first walked in, alot people both dressed up or dressed down casual. We went close by the bar and there was a long table where anyone could sit, we asked the couple across from us if anyone was sitting there they said" no no sit" they seemed very nice . My husband and I ordered 2 Sangria Nuevas 14$each from a gentlemen at the bar who was walking around and taking orders he didnt have the black shirt on like all the rest of the staff had on he had a nice button up shirt. A waitress brought us our drinks ,They were tastie!!😋. Were having a great time talking with everyone around us, including the couple across from us. Well everything was going great and then the couple across from us left , we didn't think anything of it we didn't know them , the waitress comes around and asks did they leave and we said oh yeah they left like couple minutes ago, she says oh they didnt pay for there tab, are you guys paying for there drinks!!? we said oh we don't even know them, she said well they didn't pay for there tab can you call them back, she kept saying asking us can we call them my husband and I looked at eachother and laughed because we told her we literally dont know them, we literally just asked if anyone was sitting here and they said no. The waitress made us feel embarrassed and insulted because she said really wow now I have to pay for those drinks and walked away. She came back with our check and said they had to start charging us because of what that couple did. After she apologized for assuming we were together and said she can see why she looked like an jerk looking back at the situation, but still made sure to ask us can you pay for your drinks now🙄, the damage was already done from her little scene she caused. There were 2 gentleman on the side of us standing at the same exact table mind you!! that were watching the whole thing and actually were talking to the same couple who walked out aswell never were they questioned it was onky us even though everyone was talking, anyway one of the gentleman later came back to talk to us and tell us that the they couldn't believe that happened to us and that they were sorry we were being judged, he kept asking was there anything he could do, which was nice but kind of sad that he had to feel sorry or bad for us smh we said no no were fine and we had great conversations about boxing and football again.. I am not one to pull the race card, but we and the couple across from us were both Hispanic which is why I think she thought we were both together, but shame on her for "ASUMMING" we were actually guests of the hotel who actually payed for our drinks! And spend over 100$+ in drinks actually(remember there 14$ ech). I didn't get the name of the waitress, who by the way kept trying to avoid us after the situation so we had to walk up to ther bar to order more, but I did however get the managers name(Taylor) and made her aware of the situation, did she do anything not really, but atleast next time there can be more transparency between staff and learn how to charge there tables, especially if anyone can just walk up and have a seat at public seating. Do better waitress DO BETTER!! Other then the jackhole of the night all and all we had a great time and I would actually stay again.

Just checked into El Padre hotel and it is gorgeous. Beautiful fresh flowers in the lobby. Our room is perfect. Theora checked us in and she was so nice. This place is a gem.

I am still on a disco cloud from celebrating my 50th birthday at the Padre Hotel. Madison was my contact and she managed my event professionally from start to finish. Staff was very accommodating and handled all details thoughtfully. The guests commented on how delicious the food was. If you are considering booking an event at the Padre may this be your confirmation. My only con is that the party had to end (like all good things)!!

Great overnight stop. Arrived in the evening with no advance reservation front desk was helpful and accommodating. Gave us a good walk up rate. Requested a twin room ground floor which was no problem. Very clean bathroom and comfortable beds. Good food options nearby. Freeway is noisy when you’re outside but this also makes it a very convenient well serviced place to overnight. And loved our complimentary arrival cookies :)

Absolutely great experience! The minute I pull into Valet, check-in,All interfacing with staff, very very Pleasant, professional attitudes, through out the entire property! Awesome job Padre!

Service and drinks at Brimstone were great. The hot chicken was disappointing, as the skin was extremely tough. The cauliflower fritters were crispy and tasty. the grilled cheese with oxtail was fine.

A gem in Bakersfield! We stayed here as part of a wedding party and we could not be happier. The service was amazing, the whole facility is super clean, and the decor/aesthetic is awesome! Need more hotels like The Padre!

  • 1/5 lenor S. 1 year ago on Google
My husband and I stayed at this hotel. The service was terrible. The food was cold when we were served. Valet parking was a joke. Took 20 minutes to get our car. The room sheets were dirty. We asked for upper management we talked to the head of hotel operations Jennifer Johnson. Shé was rude to us. I cant imagine any company having people that don't have their businesses best interest with the customer's mind. We will never stay at this joke of a hotel. Shame on you Padre.

Hotel is awesome and the Brimstone bar has the most amazing drinks and food. Wow really yummy apps and dinner!! Who knew Bakersfield had such awesomeness!!

This was a dining experience at the Brimstone restaurant inside. A special dine event so not normal menu. They have a new Chef. Chef Chris. I really hope he's allowed to expand the menu. Everything was excellent. Special mention to our excellent server Ashley, a long with the rest of the staff.

I ordered the burger. it was good, just a normal cheeseburger, and the fries were salted fine. The drinks were strong. We ordered the “doctors orders” for drinks and had a nice time. Staff was kind and welcoming.

My kid and I were there on business. We got some awesome very nice photos. We are getting familiar with the professional-ish camera that was a cool early graduation gift for my young one. The Padre Hotel, was as usual very photogenic. It posed and never moved an inch! So that was helpful…😁

Was lucky enough to get a room on the haunted 7th floor. A ghost even stole my valet ticket! Had a wonderful experience - nice amenities and good sleep. I’ve always enjoyed coming here for lunch and was thrilled to finally stay for a night. Will stay again for sure!

Good location, I recommend ! Nice room, bed amazing, super clean and nice staff. I recommend to try the restaurant, the food is really good. And for the morning, the breakfast at the pharmacie is also nice. Meilleur hôtel de tout notre roadtrip en Californie ;)

We love old renovated hotels, especially those that have interior rooms that rival a Marriott. Everything in this hotel was wonderful, including the great staff at the check-in counter as well as those in the bar. . . Well okay, if there's one thing I didn't care for, it was the overly soft beds (a bit of a backache in the morning) and the occasional mattress feathers? poking us during the night. . . But the other hotel amenities were so good, I'm not sure this bedding issue alone would stop me from staying here again.

  • 5/5 Patricia C. 1 year ago on Google
OMG! Our room had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on anywhere!!! And the pillows were bomb too!

Same as a 5 star in LA or SF but it’s Bakersfield and much better priced. Best hotel in Bakersfield. Excellent staff
