The museum is great. I was amazed at how fun the collection was, many pieces of contemporary artists along with more traditional and classic ones throughout. Two floors of exhibits, they have docent lead tours, and the space is pretty open. Will be interesting to see how often they rotate the exhibits. It will be an awesome place to duck into, to beat the heat, during the hot summer months in Riverside I used to visit this building for many years when it was the main library, it was fun to see how they have reconfigured the space, the biggest change being that they removed part of the 2nd story floor and opened up the space. The bones and some details still remain from it's days as the main library.

Truly an eye opening experience. So much to see I cant wait to go back and look again. I know I will find different things to see every time. Well worth the trip to downtown Riverside because you don’t see Art like this many places. Try to get there before the middle of December to see the show on the second floor which will be traveling. But if you can’t I am sure they will mount a different exhibition that will be amazing. So excited to see what they do with the space. Our Docent Alexa was knowledgeable and welcoming and more than that answered all our questions patiently and with enthusiasm. If you haven’t experienced Chicano art before I would definitely suggest trying to set up a tour because it’s so interesting to learn about.

The Cheech is a great experience. PROS: The museum includes an interesting and powerful collection of art. Very unique pieces, a lot of telling/true stories tied to the art. And, a great repurposed venue with history in itself. Plus - we did find parking onsite for free, which is a win as well CONS: No cons. Only positives. Greatly enjoyed my visit. Thank you 👍👍

What a great experience there is to be had here. Terrific collection of Chicano artists. Beautiful galleries, well laid out. Upper area with more sensitive materials and topics with signage to advise of this. Plan on two hours. Small gift shop. Small parking lot adjoining and street parking was free on Saturday and Sunday. Nice areas nearby to eat lunch within walking distance. We drove to Tios tacos for lunch.

The artwork is stunning. Beautiful, emotionally moving, heartbreaking, or funny, it's all so rich. However, the museum is a work in progress. I found the lack of seating a challenge, especially on the second floor, where there isn't a single chair. Also, the mini-theater showing the Cheech video needs some kind of seating, and a softer lighting arrangement so you can avoid stumbling over other people in the stark blackness when you enter. I grew up in Whittier and Riverside, and the artwork resonated so deeply. I'm really proud to have The Cheech in my hometown, and I'm honored that Cheech Marin chose us.

Absolutely incredible! If you have not gone to see the Cheech Marin museum, you're missing out! An amazing collection of art works from start to finish. The colors, the brush strokes, glass work....all very much something to see for yourself. I loved the QR interactive codes along side many of the art pieces, it really added to the experience having the opportunity to hear Cheech Marin describe some of the pieces himself, their significance and a bit of the story behind the artist(s). I found some to be quiet funny and humorous. Highly recommend anyone to go check it out. These are some of the pictures I wanted to share with yall.

Thank you Cheech for providing some art and culture to a much needed community of riverside . This could’ve easily been in LA but LA doesn’t deserve this. True fans and aficionados of art will make the drive.

Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in Riverside, CA to attend the Cheech Marin Center for the Chicano Arts & Culture in beautiful historic downtown Riverside. The exhibition showcases hundreds of works by Chicano artist which were collected over many years by Cheech. The exhibit is scheduled every two hours and there is plenty to see and do within walking distance of the area. We planned our day within walking distance of the Museum and enjoyed a light breakfast at Tio Tacos, antique shopping, a visit, cocktails and light lunch at the Mission Inn. It was a delightful day.

Location:Good, Parking:Good, Service:Okay, Military Discount:(Active Duty Only) Handicap Access : Yes, Overall: This was a first times try and I was very happy to hear of the Military discount(update, not happy they chose to remove vets and retiree from discounts). I did enjoy walking through the 2 story building and seeing the various pieces( Update, was charged full price when only one floor was open). What I feel would be an asset would be more seating, especially for the older art viewers. On this occasion, I brought my mother, and she looked so uncomfortable with the seating available now. A few more soft chairs or couches may help(update, happy to see the cushions). Adding a small Cafe and selling water may also be a plus as long as the guests do not walk into the viewing area with drinks. Just a few thoughts...

The Cheech Center is a really fantastic museum with an amazing collection of Chicana/o Art. It's a medium size museum with two spacious levels, the upstairs is for rotating exhibits. So many phenomenal works of arts that highlight the diversity of Chicano culture and art mediums. Highly recommend you take the trip and enjoy the specialness of this great collection.

This is a separate building from the Riverside Art Museum (it used to be the main public library in Riverside), but the Cheech is connected to the RAM and shares admission. This is a great personal collection - supplemented by other works - that cannot be missed if you're in the area. Collection is pretty large - so allocate a good 2 hours to see everything.

Beautiful exhibit. Lots of great art and beautiful variety of styles. Clean facilities and staff was very kind. Not too large just enough for a hour or two. Parking was easy and inexpensive ($5 or less) great area with lots of restaurants and places to visit if coming with friends. Definitely recommend.

Such a cool museum. Love being able to see art represented through a chicano lense & beautifully displayed. Well worth the wait & entrance fee(which isnt too bad.) You can purchase online or in person. The 2 story ventricular piece you see when you first walk in, is magnificent. Takes about an hour or so to walk through the entire space.

This is an extraordinary collection of Chicano art in downtown Riverside. Cheech Marin has shared his collection with the world here. It’s worth stopping by to see. Plan to spend at least an hour to walk through all the galleries. Some artist are featured with numerous pieces. You’ll find your favorites.

Great art, creative and sociopolitically on point in many ways. The Chicano culture is the culture of Los Angeles IMHO - and Southern California. This should be a stop over on a road trip or a day trip. Have lunch at Tio's down the street. It's a "go". Street Parking is ample. Just be sure you pay the man !

Very nice place to visit only 2 floors with a stairway and elevator for convenience. Stay is well informed. Bank of America customers are free of admission every 1st week of each month.

Great little museum. My family went specifically for the Collidoscope/De La Torre Bothers exhibit, but also enjoyed all of the other pieces. It has a good range of styles and mediums. The staff was friendly. There is a small parking lot attached to the building, but also other off site parking within just a couple blocks. The price is great & an affordable way to spend an afternoon. It took us about about an hour and a half to tour the entire facility.

Want to Cheech Martin's Great accomplishments is definitely going to leave a legacy for the rest of his life and after allowing Street artists to be able to have their art in a museum such as Van Gogh and Picasso now there's finally a museum 4 Mexicans

I would have to say this place is pretty dope to explore & experience. It was a little busy, but we were still able to enjoy the beautiful building as well as the art pieces here... expected since we did come on a Sunday. My kids didn't enjoy it as much as I did, even though some art piece most definitely caught their eyes. I would probably visit again without the kids so I can read more on the pieces and gaze more but it was a good time overall. I would say skip the art museum and come straight here honestly.

I cannot get enough of this place. It is mind-blowing to see the art that ranges from whimsical to powerful. Each piece is evocative in its own way. The holographic mural you see when you step in is spectacular. You see Cuatlicue when you approach. Shift to the left and you'll see she's a mosaic of car parts from classic cars, and shifting right, you'll see animals.

As I understand, the Cheech currently (December 2022) displays about 100 pieces from a collection of over 500 pieces donated by Cheech Marin. The plan is to change the exhibit early 2023 and (I guess) rotate in other work not currently on display. The bottom floor contains the Cheech's collection. The breadth and quality of the pieces is amazing and the works are culturally and artistically relevant. The top floor is work from featured artists taking advantage of the excellent space to display their work. I didn't ask how artists are chosen to exhibit but enjoyed the space and the work of the featured artists on display. The museum has a space for art activities and classes. Inquire at the front desk to see what's available and when. Several kids were entering at 4:00 pm for a class as the exhibit space was closing. Well worth your time to visit. I plan to return in January, 2023, when the exhibit rotates in more pieces from their permanent collection.
