One of the most remarkable places I have ever visited in any country. The place was quite lovely in the history attached to it. There were many interesting things to witness and the traditional items on display were amazing. Need a couple of hours to explore this place though.

It's not a large area but there are several things to see and do to make a visit worthwhile. June 2023 price for foreigners 15 manat. You can pay cash or card. There's the main museum with a diverse and interesting collection, 2 mausoleums, a mosque, ruins of a bath house and pretty outdoor areas to sit. All well signed although I wouldn't say it's easily accessible for less able bodied visitors.

The palace is located in the old town. It is restored for the most part, but is a good historical site to explore although it is rather small for a palace. It is not exactly worth the price though, but of you're an ardent history enthusiast then you should definitely check this place.

Huge historical place. You can buy combo ticket for 3-4 museums. If you are planning to visit them all it definitely worth. The price for one museum is 15 monat. For 4 museums 36 monat. Even here they have some photos of ex president of the country. I didn’t understand the reason why.

The place was small with a lot of steps, when you move from one room to another you are literally going up and down. The steps were steep, could be tiring and slippery for seniors and kids, and hence we just did the upper part of the palace haven't been to the lower part. The palace is definitely not wheelchair accessible. Inside the palace you can find a few historical artifacts, traditional clothing and architectural details. It is recommended to visit the palace if you are interested in history, otherwise in my opinion the outside views and surroundings of the palace were much more beautiful, the view of old baku vs the flame towers was amazing. It is worth noting that there are 2 stores inside the palace, one is the souvenirs shop (don't make the mistake of buying tea from here as they charge double the price of the supermarkets).

Nice place with pretty views and a few small things on the exhibit, I didn’t really have a palace feel though. I didn’t like the discriminatory pricing for foreigners, in (some) other countries this would not be allowed.

One of the must see places in Baku! The palace of the Shirvanshah and surrounding complex has a fabulous museum inside and you can see the palace, a mosque, courtyard and tomb of the Shirvanshah and learn about the history of the old city. They have an on-site photographer if you want to pay for the option of dressing in historial clothing.

Weltkulturerbe! Da gibt's noch Besseres.😉

(Translated by Google) The Shirvanshahs 'Palace, one of the architectural gems of Azerbaijan, was built in the early 15th century and includes a complex, a palace, a divan, the Shirvanshahs' tomb, a minaret palace mosque, a bath, the tomb of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi and later the Sharq divankhana. It is noted that the first buildings of the complex belonged to the architect Amirshah in 1441, and the construction of the last "Sharq" divankhana in 1558.

Great piece if history! We loved touring in this palace, which has historical information about the origins of the Shirvanshahs and about the city as well. Tickets were relatively pricey at 15 manatee per person, but I think that coming to Baku - the Shirvanshahs palace is a must see. P.s - the apricot trees outside are just phenomenal to sit under and relax!

If you are interested in history, this is a place you will like. It is not a big complex ..but offers something of history. Well maintained in some parts, while not very in others. If you are not familiar with the culture of this part of the world, you will definitely like it, but if you come from similar cultures, you will probably see there's nothing special about it 😊

You can visit parts of this without paying anything, this includes the garden. The paid for part costs 15 manat and will take about 25 minutes if you read everything. It will briefly tell you about the Shirvanshahs who controlled the region until 1500. Overall, pretty, but the paid bits aren't really worth it.

Affordable entrance fee but nothing much to see inside. A few artifacts with short descriptions. Even though I read all the descriptions, spent less than 30minutes inside. Really small place where the history is not that interesting. No description on any struggle etc. Just a very peaceful life led by the people and some of their belongings uncovered.

Most of the palace was destroyed and what you see is restored. Some artifacts brought in to fill the space. No real wow factor. I bought the ticket from the entrance and the whole ticket is collected by the person at the door. Ticket is not torn. I wonder why? 15 manat to get in. This said, the palace is sitting on high ground and oversees old town. Very nice court yard to chill. Tombs of the royal family in the court yard. Spend about an hour should be enough.

I was really excited to visit this place but was sort of disappointed. It was too ordinary when compared to fortresses and palaces in India or even in France. The palace is simple and lacks any grandeur of any kind.

The entrance on google map is not the main entrance- it’s on the other side, so I sat patiently waiting at a wooden door for almost an hour. As expected, the stairs inside are very tall which is not safe for me. Luckily no one bothered me as I bypassed the ticket counter and wandered on the main level terrace which had some nice views. Should they make it more accessible? I don’t know, maybe just a few handrails would suffice without changing the history

(Translated by Google) The Shirvanshahs Palace is the pearl of the architectural heritage of Azerbaijan, the former residence of the rulers of Shirvan, located in the heart of Baku. In addition to the palace, the amazingly beautiful complex includes the courtyard of Divan Khan, the tomb, the mosque of 1441, as well as the bathhouse and mausoleum of the court scholar Seyid Yahya Bakuvi. The palace complex was built over several decades, constantly growing with new buildings and courtyards from about the 13th to the 16th centuries. However, despite such a large spread in time, the ensemble of the Shirvanshahs palace produces a strikingly holistic artistic impression. And all thanks to the sensitivity and attentiveness of each next generation of architects: one can see how strictly cubic and multifaceted architectural volumes, constantly carved stone patterns, rhythm and proportionality of architectural forms are strictly observed. This is truly a masterpiece in stone. The palace complex is located on top of the Baku hill, in the old part of the city, surrounded by ancient fortress walls. The oldest part of the palace, which was also built not “one-time”, but for several centuries, is the octagonal hall of the second floor of the late 14th century. In general, the palace presents a rather complex figure in its design. For example, the western, northern, and part of the eastern facades are an incomplete rectangle; the southern facade consists of two trihedral lanterns and a broken line between them. It is difficult to imagine in words, but in appearance the building makes a grand impression. To date, the palace has preserved three narrow spiral staircases and 52 rooms, as well as an octagonal front hall. Inside - an exposition of finds made during archaeological excavations, in particular household items, coins of the 12-15th centuries, copper dishes, weapons and jewelry of the 19th century, musical instruments of the 15th century. The highlight of the collection is Shemakha carpets. Through a small opening you can get into the enclosed courtyard Divan Khan, in the center of which on the high stylobate there is an 8-sided rotunda-pavilion. There are several versions about the appointment of Divan Khan (late 15th century). Perhaps it was here the proceedings, the Council of State, emergency rooms or the mausoleum. The mausoleum of the “dervish” (the second half of the 15th century) rests within its walls the great court scientist Halil Ulla I Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, who at that time was engaged in medicine, mathematics, and astrology. In the northern part of the building you can see the arched opening, which once connected the mausoleum with the ancient mosque. The "old" mosque or Kei-Kubad mosque - the one that adjoined the dervish mausoleum, was built in the late 14th - early 15th centuries after the destruction of an even more ancient building, on the foundation of which it was built. Alas, in 1918 it burned down during a fire. During excavations of the 1920s, a crypt with scattered remains of up to twenty human skeletons was discovered. It turns out that even earlier there was a cemetery around the mosque and the mausoleum. The “Murad Gate” or the Eastern Portal led into the territory of the southern courtyard. The construction of this particular fragment completed the formation of the architectural ensemble of the Shirvanshahs palace. The upper part of the portal is decorated with an inscription in Arabic: “I ordered to build this noble building in the days of the fairest and greatest sultan, Sultan Murad Khan, Ulu. Rajab Baba Bakuyi in the nine hundred and ninety-fourth year. " The building of the Shirvanshahs tomb is also often called the "Turba", it is located directly opposite the entrance to the palace. Above it stands a lavishly decorated portal. During excavations in the tomb, fragments of tombstones were found, as well as a number of burials of members of the Halilullah family. A total of 14 crypts were found with, presumably, the remains of the son of Halilullah and his mother Halilullah. Address: Icherisheher, Palace lane 76, Tel .: (+994 12) 492-10-73. Shrivanshahs Palace didn't leave a lasting impression. you can complete the visit within 10-15 minutes. If you have limited time during your vacation and want to explore the city, you can consider visiting. However, I personally didn't find it extraordinary. The palace offers some historical insights into the Shrivanshahs, but unless you have a specific interest in their history, it's skippable.

(Translated by Google) The palace, located in the old Baku, where the ığızerî-Turkish people called it "the city inside", consists of architectural units with various functions. It is understood that there are earlier buildings on the land, but today's buildings are mostly XV-XVI. The palace, which was built in centuries and has two large and two small entrances, is enclosed in the city wall (XIX century) and it is a large complex that spreads over a very large area. It is suggested that Architect Ali, who was mentioned at the crown gate of the mausoleum next to the Palace Masjid, may be the main architect who built the palace. The name of the master Emîrşah Velyânkûhî is mentioned in the inscription above the northern entrance, which gave passage to the tomb and was built in 1585. The units that make up the palace are built on three different areas that show a level difference topographically. It is the first architectural structure in the north (mid-XV. Century), which is located next to the octagonal palace and is located next to the palace built on an octagonal plan, with a columnar gallery surrounded by a rectangular portico on a higher terrace near the sea. The structure has a single, central pointed dome. There is a cellar-basement (dungeon [?]) Section that opens to the courtyard and extends into the ground below the ground, firstly by a sloping path, and then extending into the ground in the form of a well. Similar examples of this were also found under the courtyard floors of some castle buildings in Apsheron. On one side of the Divanhane there is a staircase leading up to the roof. The decorations of the building are the most eye-catching examples of the style of the period. The clamshell is clamshell-shaped with a porch, and the portal is decorated with a lotus. There are vegetative decorations on the lowered doorway and the side niches that provide passage inside, and a geometric frieze is seen in the sharp corners inside the door. 26th verse of the Sura of Yusnus is written in the inscription. Useynov, Bretanickiy, Salamzâde and later Aslanapa assert that the architect of the cupola might have come from Baku by comparing this divannah with the Emir Bayfinder Cupola in Ahlat in terms of style. There is a similarity with the Tercan Mama Hatun cupola and some buried tomb monuments in terms of establishment.

Not that much things to see comparing with Turkey palaces. Entrence fee is 15 manat for foreigners. They have some kind of new technologies like iPads to press and hear sound of local music instruments that they have inside etc. Palace is not big, maybe 30-40 is enough if you watch every thing which is there.

Being from a country full of ruins dating back thousands of years, I found this place normal, but it is still worh a visit if you are in Baku. The view from here is amazing as you can cover old and modern Baku in one camera frame. The family photo we took their was very professional and I really recommend it.
