While the food is great, the people working here are not. I may be an outsider to Kolkata but still a paying customer. I had to ask him thrice for 1 special tea + 1 kesar tea and in the end, i never got my kesar tea. Incompetent bunch. However, the breakfast i had was good. The singhara definitely wasn't the best but the kachori with aloo'r dum was good, the goja was also really good.

Kochuri and Jelabi: It was good. If you happen to be in Kalighat at the morning then this is worth trying breakfast : Kochuri and Jelabi. However, a block ahead I found Maharaj has better quality Kochuri and Jelabi than Maharani. The price of the both outlets are the same. My suggestion would be Maharaj or, if you are first-timer then try both, a little here and a little there.

Located on the road side, this stall is famous for its tea and snacks. Went there on mahalaya morning and had tea, jalebi, and kochuri alur dom. Food taste was good and would definitely recommend, and a bonus is that it is served in disposable leaf plates. Must try if you want to get what original Kolkata road side food tastes like.

*Follow kolkata.foodie.dibyajit at Instagram and Zomato for more drooling pics and unbiased reviews* Went there last Sunday as it's an iconic place for an ideal breakfast consisting of hot Kachoris, Aloo Sabzi and 3 to 4 kinds of sweets. There was a queue and the workers are fast. Started off with tea and had some kachories which were fried immediately. The aloo sabzi was brilliant. Finished off with jilipis. However, the tea at Maharani is better than that of Maharaj, though the price is all same. Awesome breakfast on less than 50 bucks per head. ©kolkata.foodie.dibyajit

A good place to have breakfast/evening snacks. Offers tasty food in a budget. I love their tea. Can find very easily and you'll get a parking space too. Mostly crowded.

Nice place to have your breakfast or quick jalpaan in evening.. Taste is OK but maharaja snacks is having better taste for their cuisines and presentation of food is good too there! Overall average experience taste can be improved just like maharaja.

An age old eatery serving Aloo subzi, Kachuri ( Poori), Sweets like Jalebi, Malpua and Tea. Priced reasonably it's a good place for a scrumptious UP style brrakfast in Kolkata.

Just to be clear. Its not maharaja. Its Maharani. Maharaja is a different place. Great place for breakfast! The tea tastes great! I just loved it! The kachori with that potato curry and that green chilli pickle put on side soothes the taste buds and give a great kick to your morning routine. The jalebi also tasted amazing. A must try place.

Located just opposite to the Petrol pump at Sarat Bose road , Maharani tea & tiffin is one of the go to place for quality breakfast & evening snacks. Great food , large variety and reasonable price are the USP of this popular eatery.

One of the best kochuri-aloo torkari for breakfast in South Kolkata. For 20rs a plate, it's sasta and very acha in taste. Also must try their jalebi - crispy, hot and juicy. Please note that their kochuri gets over by 11.30 on most days

Its good place to grab some hot kachori, samosa & khasta kachori, price is reasonable not too high not too cheap. They will serve you hot foods if you ask for the same. Make sure to grab a cup of tea before you leave the shop. Tea is their speciality.

We never eat at roadside joints such as these but we went any way since a blog mentioned that this was a time-honored establishment. It didn't disappoint! Freshly made hot food that was sold at very reasonable prices made for a great breakfast.

Would often visit your counter but was shocked at the level of hygiene. As i was having tea and planning to have some kachori, your cook placed the potatoes on the oven to be cooked. And i was shocked to see cockroaches coming out of the container. And you covered the lid

The kochuri was delicious and the chili chutney is a must. We ate 6 kochuri, tea, a thumbsup, packed 6 dhokla and the total cost was 165 rs. Also, we went pretty late around 12pm yet they ensured we got fresh and newly made kochuris.

Lovely place, we had hing kochuri alur torkari and samosas along with malpua, gulab jamun, jalebi, ending with special tea. I'd highly recommend the salted items and jalebi, I didn't really love the malpua it was okayish, the gulab jamun was a bit small but the jalebi was great. The special tea was absolutely fantastic and in just 120 Rs, two adults ate so much we were completely full. This is one of the best places for snacks on a budget near the sarobar Kalighat area and I highly recommend this.

Taste and the price, both are quite good and reasonable. A must visit during the breakfast time and of course you must drink the piping hot tea or the lassi which they provide❣️

An authentic breakfast place. A must visit for the ones looking for a local breakfast joint. I'd definitely recommend their Aloo Tarkari and Kochuri AND their Jalebi. The Gulab Jamun and the Tea is better at Maharaja in my opinion; which is just 4 shops down the lane.

Taste is good. Customer dealing is good. A bit overpriced as its got hype by bloggers, media.

  • 4/5 Raghwendra P. 1 year ago on Google
It's a nice place to have Kachori ,Samosa etc. With a rate of ₹10 / Pc . I tried Samosa and Gulab Jamun and after having it I can say it was worth . The taste of Samosa was so nice. And Gulab Jamun was so soft .

  • 4/5 Shaunak D. 1 year ago on Google
Offers breakfast/snax and it's a very old & popular joint. Kachoris are the most popular along with samosa, jalebis, malpoa and gulabjamuns. Tea time snax are pocket friendly and the most important thing is everything served hot and is freshly prepared. No as such seating arrangements are there.

Very good quality Hing Kachuri! 👌

  • 4/5 Joydeep M. 2 years ago on Google
Food is of decent quality with decent hygiene. Earlier they used to service food using swiggy or Zomato nowadays they stop it. This is a place where I am going in from my childhood days. The taste nearly remained the same. I cannot say anything more than it's a nice place to have breakfast if you are returning from your morning walk from the lake.

Don't confuse with Maharaja tea which is situated just ahead of this shop...It is situated just opposite of petrol pump...Good for morning breakfast...Tea ,kachwuri, Halwa, and so many eadble items are available here...But most important thing is charitable work done by it...So many poot people and handicapped and beggars and old man and ladies get free breakfast here... It has become a landmark of this area...
