My daughter had her 11th birthday here. The atmosphere was out of this world and it was perfect for what my daughter wanted. When the food came out all the kids faces lit up as it was colourful and smelt amazing. The waitresses were kind enough to give myself, my partner and sister some scones with jam and cream for free. Highly recommend πŸ‘

Mary Eats Cake in Montrose offers a charming cottage setting with a flowery, pretty dining room featuring a chandelier. The option for separate rooms for small functions adds versatility. I had the Starry Night package and it's savories, particularly the pea and broad bean arancini, were surprisingly delicious. The scones were light and fluffy, and the cakes presented beautifully. The white cocktail was festive and tasty. However, the service experience was a letdown, with slow and haphazard service. Not being offered a second round of scones, let alone unlimited, was disappointing and trying get service or a pot of tea was difficult. My mum enjoyed the tea and she is notoriously fussy, however I wasn't offered any tea, and would have liked a hot drink. We gave up an d ended taking the cakes away to eat( cost $2 for a box) We noticed several people seated around us discussing lack of quality service today, despite a high number of staff working ☹️.....most were noticeably absent for most of the session - I would suggest it would be better to keep 'at least one staff member on floor" at all times in a room of 20 diners.

I had a booking for high tea here last year but it got cancelled due to lockdown. We received a gift voucher to come back another time. Finally made it! We went on a Friday in February and were the only people there! Despite being the only people, we felt quite comfortable. The waitress was lovely and very helpful. The decor is gorgeous and the entire experience was wonderful! The amount of food was perfect to fill us up, and we had bottomless scones and tea. The scones were delicious!! Highly recommend! Such a cute little place!

Make sure to come with lots of room in your stomach for a fulfilling experience! High tea is always a great way to celebrate and although I didn't have anything special happening. The decor is fantastic, with a bright atmosphere perfect for things like mothers day. There were some very interesting foods served. The savoury treats are decent, my favourite being the croissant with a unique sweet and savoury combo. By far though the sweet options are the highlights. They were nothing I had before and it was really fun trying it all out. My favourite drink served was the Pimms and that is going to be my go to drink over mimosa for brunch. It's just a better more refreshing drink in my opinion. And of course there were many tea selections on offer and you can even make your own blend. I didn't try that so maybe next time. The tea was placed on a candle which actually kept the drink warm, amazing. I enjoyed the experience here and when a special occasion does come up in the future I'll definitely come back.

I had my bridal shower at Mary Eats Cake, Montrose and it was amazing. The booking process was smooth, Calista was so helpful and accommodating, even when I asked 1000 questions! On the day, the staff looked after us perfectly. Special thanks to Tiana (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) who went above and beyond (and was a fellow Swiftie!). The food, mimosas and tea were delicious, and the decor was gorgeous. Loved the day and can’t wait to go back.

We got the Fancy Package which included the following: 🧁 Traditional High Tea (4 savouries & 4 sweets) πŸ₯‚ Unlimited sparkling, wine, beer, soft drink and coffee 🍰 Bottomless Mary's fluffy scones with raspberry jam and fresh cream 🍡 Unlimited speciality teas πŸ‡ Fruit and cheese boards to share This was my second time having high tea at Mary Eats Cake but my first time at their Montrose location. We enjoyed the selection of savouries and sweets. Loved their fresh and fluffy scones too! Overall, a lovely place to catch up with friends or for special occasions. Also a great venue to host birthdays, bridal showers and baby showers.

We had the Fancy Package in the Library room booked for my sister's high tea bridal shower. Everything was so smooth and easy from the booking process to the event running on the day. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and the food was delicious! We also had two last minute cancellations and any leftover food we were able to take away so there was little to no wastage! We had a large list of dietary restrictions but everything was perfectly accommodated for without a fuss! My sister is vegan and had her heart set on the venue. We had a fantastic time and we look forward to coming back one day! πŸ™‚

I have been to Mary’s on a couple of occasions now. What a magical, beautiful venue. I simply love it. I had my daughter in laws baby shower there some time ago and have had their high teas also. Everything is always so perfect. It feels so special as soon as you walk through the door. It is certainly an experience everyone deserves to have. ❀️

Celebrating a special occasion? If so then Mary Eats cake, could absolutely be the place for you. I honestly think they could provide a little less food and reduce the price per head as it is a lot of food however everything was totally delicious, the venue is beautiful and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and efficient. We had a great time, even if we were a little stuffed afterwards.

Beautiful spot to enjoy the most delicious gluten free high tea with my Mum for a (very) belated Mother's Day celebration. Our host was super friendly and welcoming. Eating out as a coeliac comes with a degree of nervousness but I can honestly say I felt so relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The food was so delicious that I couldn't decide what was my favourite treat....but then I did have two scones so maybe that's the answer! Congratulations Mary Eats Cake, lovely place.

Took my mum out here for the traditional high tea session this afternoon. Staff were all lovely, polite and attentive. Special shout out to Rosa who made mum feel extra special. Traditional high tea menu was beautifully displayed, and the bottomless scones was simply delicious!! I really like the fact you can also brew your own tea, there’s a wall blend of all the different teas you can mix & match. Well worth the price & drive! I’ll definitely come back.

It's very nice if you like to have afternoon tea. The only downside is you don't get to choose what savouries you want (or sweets, but that doesn't matter). Loved my teapot & the tea was very nice. Prices aren't too bad & it's a sweet little place that at the time wasn't too busy.

Went for high tea with my mum and absolutely loved it! I've been to the Brunswick venue but this was much better interior, classy and elegant seating. Service was amazing, the staff were friendly and happy to be there. Scones were yummy. Definitely will be back and to this location

Always wanted to try it ..the savoury pieces were quite dry and tasteless, but the atmosphere was lovely. The scones were to die for, very fluffy and light. The flowers on the tables looked liked they were weeks old and not fresh. We were in a large group for a special birthday. Perhaps a smaller group would be better

I have had their High Tea three times. Attended a fundraiser, bachelorette party and taking my best friend to celebrate her 70th. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of little savouries and mini desserts. She also commented on how light and fluffy, and delicious the scones were, and I definitely agree. The staff were very helpful and the tearoom is very quaint and spacious. There is also the option to sit outside. Thank you for another enjoyable High Tea experience.

Thank you so much to the wonderful manager at Montrose who accommodated for us after an error I’d made with the booking! The staff quickly set us up a beautiful space and provided the perfect experience for a group of 7 with dietary requirements all under short notice. The space is beautiful and the food and service was so wonderful thank you so much again

My husband and I love a high tea and thought wouldn't it be great to have our reception at Mary's and you know what, it was amazing!!! We would highly recommend Mary's for any occasion big or small. The food, atmosphere and staff were all wonderful. It ticked all of our boxes and made for a very unique reception. Thank you Mary's for hosting our love party. Lee and Dave

My friends and I had a lovely high tea experience here. We particularly enjoyed the desserts - they were delicious. The tea and hot chocolate were very pleasant too. One of my highlights was the bottomless scones (woohoo!). The scones and the cream that came with them were really nice. The staff were kind and friendly.

Came in with mum and decided to simply order off the menu. We had a scone each and shared 3 mini cakes, with a mocktail and cappuccino. The scones were delicious with a generous amount of self serving cream and jam. Waitresses were attentive. Decor was lovely. I understand the white paper on the table is for easy cleaning and removal, but it does take away from the look. Simply put a white table cloth and change that instead, even if it costs you a little more in cleaning. Toilets onsite with parking at the rear of the premises. Outside seating. Teas and other items for sale as well.

It’s was my first time trying high tea and must I say it was a great experience. The service was top notch they were attentive and very friendly. The food was plentiful and tasty but the decor and atmosphere was amazing. Glad this was the first place we tried high tea and and I would highly recommend it. Special mention to the team as they were able to accommodate for a vegan eater last minute as we only booked on the day. Thanks

I take my daughter here for an end of school year celebration. She talks about it all year and is so excited when the day comes. Staff are so friendly, helpful and attentive. The menu has change and I must say again, is out of this world. Melt in your mouth yummy. My daughter also created her own tea leaf mix, which was also perfectly delicious. Thank you to all for continuing to create those mum and daughter special memories❀️

Gorgeous high tea venue in Montrose. This was my second visit and I loved every minute. Menu items were different from the first time which was great to try new things. Our party of four enjoyed The Mary Package. A glass of sparkling to begin with, bottomless tea from the extensive tea selection and unlimited scones if you can fit anymore in after the delicious savoury and sweet items. We all left completely satisfied and will definitely be back.

It was perfect! Easy to book and easy to find. Everything from the food, the setting, and the waitresses were all beautifully presented. A perfect morning spent celebrating my daughters 18th with her Nan and her favorite Auntie 😍

We visited today for high tea and it was such a lovely venue. The girls were so nice and attentive. The food was delightful and we loved every bit of it. We went for the fancy package which comes with bottomless bubbles, tea and scones! Their scones are the best, so soft & fluffy.

Beautiful place setting, comfortable spacing between tables. Scones were really yum however some of the other sweet items taste on the unbalanced side. Not enough savoury to balance the sweets too. Choice of tea was not offered and there was black tea all ready at the table; service was a bit slow and would feel like asking for a different pot of tea will take ages.

Best scones I've ever tasted! Crunchy on the top and super fluffy in the middle. Beautiful atmosphere, very clean and great service.

Had the pleasure of having a high tea for my birthday at Mary Eats Cake. It was absolutely delicious! We had several guests with dietary requirements and they all raved about how delicious the food was! All the staff were so lovely and helpful. I honestly couldn't fault the day, it was perfect! Thanks guys!!

This was my first experience at Mary Eats Cake, and I will definitely be coming back! I was invited to a Hens High Tea at the place, and my goodness. The towers of food were delicious. From the savoury to sweet, you’re hit with so many lovely combinations and flavours. Highly recommend eating as many scones with cream and jam as you can - The scones are so soft and delicious! We also got a cheese platter which was presented very nicely and came with some lovely fresh fruit. Staff are attentive and accommodating to your needs - always asking if you’re wanting more tea, or champagne, or more scones! It’s also very aesthetically pleasing and well decorated. Very homey vibe! I highly recommend going at least once :)

I visited Mary Eats Cake for the fourth time last week, including one time when we had a beautiful bridal shower afternoon. Everything at the bridal shower was perfect. Last week though, I must say I was a little disappointed with the high tea, as I had arranged the day for a friend's 80th birthday. It was the first time she had had a high tea. The scones were wonderful but I think some of the savoury items were a little underwhelming, particularly the raw tuna cone. The only taste was the chili hit at the end. The sandwiches were lovely but the little tart was a bit ordinary, and perhaps a little quiche would be nice. I think even with the desserts, at least one chocolate item would have been better. I have preferred the more traditional types of menu items better in the past. As always, the setting and service were just great. Just a few tweaks to the high tea menu would be appreciated for me.
