Sonajhuri Forest also known as 'Sonajhuri haat' or 'Khoai er haat' or 'Shonibaar er haat' is one of most famous tourist destination in West Bengal. It is situated in Bolpur-Santiniketan, Birbhum district 5km away from Bolpur-Santiniketan railway station. It is such a beautiful forest that your frustrations, moroseness, anxiety will be banished by its beauty. Especially in late winter and spring it's beauty reaches the topmost level. In this forest a temporary market or 'haat' has been happening from more than 100 years mainly in Saturday; but for tourist attraction some traders come here other days of the week also. Mainly the local handicrafts, cotton wears made by mostly by the tribes are sold here in a reasonable price; but you have to bargain 😁. If you are planning to visit Santiniketan then the forest and also the 'haat' should be in your list. The main attraction of this place is the tribal dance and 'khoai'. So please come here and feel the eternal peace and beauty of this place mainly in spring (in Holi or Dolyatra). Thank you very much. Do like and follow my profile so that you can get more information about the places I review.

Clean and Peaceful place. Now a days it's famous for photoshoot. Some of the movie shooting has been done here like Belasese, Posto. You can connect your soul with nature. Special attraction is evening khoai hat. Baul songs, santali dance, varities of colourful shops, kathastich and many more snacks shops. Place became very lively in evening specially in Saturday.

A memorable place for people who love adventures and trekking. Here sand floor breaks all the time so please be careful while bringing your kids. Children and aged people should be more careful when walking or playing around here. A small river flows through the Khoyai valley and creates a beautiful scenery. 🔰Here is a tip for the people who love trekking, carefully go deep in the valley and find out a true heaven.

A very beautyful place away from the cacophony of the city. U can buy Tribal Jewelry, tibal dress etc. One can easily join in dance with the tribals. Food stalls available. Items like dresses, bags, handbags, ornaments for man n women are available in cheap rate. Most important is its calm and cool atmosphere. From city it is 4 to 5km. Fare is approx 50 to 100 from rly station.

Away from the hustle-bustle of the city lies a hidden gem in the state of West Bengal – Sonajhuri, it is a small patch of forest in the Khoai region of Shantiniketan in Bolpur. Considered to be one of the cleanest forests in India, Sonajhuri Forest is a great retreat to be close to nature. Sonajhuri Forest is replete with lush green trees that has blooming flowers. Morning strolls inside the beautiful forest is itself a treat. And if you come sometime during winter, the entire forest ground is covered with tiny golden Sonajhuri flowers. A visit to the Saturday Haat is a unique experience.

I have nostalgia around this place. I started coming here in the year 2002 when I was a mere student. And still coming back. The forest has a bigger area where everyone doesn't go. The main tourist spot is Khoyai. Earlier it used to be a quiet place. But in last couple of years the place has been modified to a commercial one. As a old timer, i see how the place lost its natural charm. Although, it'll be always one of my loved places.

In one word: It's the Bengali Culture. Beautiful place to visit. It's a forest of Sonajhuri Trees. There's a haat, you can call it like a group of shops. Very beautiful items available at cheap prices. The best thing is they are mostly handmade and the designs are pretty awesome. This place is all about the HAAT. Thursday and Friday is closed, rest all days are open. F.Y.I. if you want to enjoy the beauty of this Forrest, visit in the day the Haat is closed. You wouldn't regret it. It's a beauty. Even in rainy season they sit, sometimes with umbrella. Bangla Sahitto is maintained. If you're a Bengali, you would love it to the most. Beautiful place, must visit. Bolpur's one of the best place.

Sonajhuri forest is also known as Sonajhuri haat . The place is full of Santhali and Lokgeeti vibe . You can find many handcrafted things as well as different types of clothes like kathastich, handloom saree ,kurti, skirts, shirts etc . If you are not going for the shopping and want to spend quality time here ,then avoid the Haat days .

It is a forest in the suburbs of Bolpur Shantiniketan. It is an eucalyptus (sonajhuri) forest thats why it called sonajhuri bagan or forest. You can visit this place whole year but the best time is during winters. The famous Sonibarer haat { handloom market on Saturdays} is also held here. It is a must visit place for nature lovers, you can enjoy the beauty of nature and can also see many breeds of birds.

If you want to truly experience the beauty of the Sonajhuri forest, choose a day when the Sonajhuri Haat is closed. With the absence of the insanely large crowd, you could walk along few trails inside the forest. Or, simply sit in an open space, sing a song, enjoy a cup of hot tea.

Nice and clean forest which is located quiet close to all major hotels or guest houses. The saturday market timings are 2 pm to sundown. Same timing for sundays also. Varities of materials are available at really cheap price. Parking at owners risk. The approach road will be blocked duting the market timing.

Heritage, culture and ethnicity of West Bengal is exclusively evident at the SONAJHURI MARKET" located within Shanitiniketan. It depicts and displays the exquisite expertise talent of the local artisans. Hand weaved clothes, Terra cotta statues and beautifully hand crafted products along with wooden carvings of explicit beauty is available here. The best thing about the products are that they are reasonably priced and bargaining may be to an extent of a maximum of 15% because there are huge number of sellers. At some of the places, the prices are fixed. So if one is a game for cultural wear, the sarees, shirts t-shirts and kurtas are a must try. A great place to be within the cultural diversity of our Country. The local *ADIVASI DANCE* and SONG is absolutely captivating and a must to be enjoyed by one and all.

Sonajhuri is situated very close to Visva Bharati, Santiniketan's northern side. Sonajhuri should be the preferred option for those who want the serene Shantiniketan but dislike the crowded Visva Bharati area. It is among the nicest locations in the city. Between the Shyambati Canal and the Sonajhuri wilderness lies the area under question. Here is a sit out of gear site to pay special attention to calm that you typically overlook in the busy city life, with a lot of flora beside Santhali communities and the well-known Khoai region gully produced by water and wind disintegration.

Sonajhuri Forest is situated at Khoai region in Bolpur. This place was named so because of the Sonajhuri tree. Sonajhuri tree are located in huge numbers and in winter's they shed their yellow flowers. The whole forest looks as if drops of gold has been scattered on the ground. This place is inhabited by tribal who lead simple lives. The pristine river flowing alongside the forest makes the whole place look even more magical. This unique look of the forest was immortalised by Rabindranath Tagore in many of his compositions. Sonajhuri Forest is a great retreat to be close to nature.
