We had a wonderful stay. We had stayed in a luxury tent room that’s up in the trees above a gushing river. It was peaceful, secluded and beautiful. The room was spacious and immaculately clean. We enjoyed the safari, picnic at one of their lakes and the swimming pool. The staff were all lovely and accommodating, to the extent of offering to feed our fussy child breakfast! We had little issue with bugs, but best to carry some repellant for mosquitoes. Thank you for the lovely stay Rain Farm Lodge

When I got there it was raining and I need to setup a proposal on the jetty outdoors, that clearly wasn't going to happen but the team at Rain Farm were so helpful, they had a Plan B which was this beautiful chapel. I would definitely suggest this place for anyone why wants a relaxing weekend away.

This place never disappoints!!! Such a beautiful location and ideal to have lunch while kids swim in their rock pools!! Efficient and friendly staff that went out of their way for us. The food is good and doesn't break the bank which is an even bigger bonus. Great experience

My experience at The Rain Farm in Ballito was both convenient and memorable. The booking process was a breeze, as reservations could be made via WhatsApp, showcasing their commitment to customer convenience. The staff were incredibly accommodating and welcoming, which set a positive tone for the visit. The special we booked, priced at 700 per person, included a game drive, snacks, and a full-body massage. As we arrived, we were immediately struck by the beauty of the premises, particularly the breathtaking little chapel on the property. The game drive itself, while basic, provided a chance to see zebras, wildebeest, and bucks. Unfortunately, the giraffes, a notable attraction, had been relocated due to cold weather, which was a bit of a disappointment. After the safari, we stopped at a charming picnic site to share a platter of food with the other individuals on our safari. It would have been more enjoyable if each group or couple had their own platter, as sharing with a group of seven when there were only two of us felt a bit crowded. Nevertheless, the snack platter offered a wide variety of delicious treats, including crumbled chicken, tortilla wraps, cucumber and hummus, pastries, fresh fruit, biltong, and chicken and mayo open sandwiches. The highlight of the entire experience was undoubtedly the full-body massages. The tranquil setup with heated beds provided a calming ambiance, and the skilled therapists worked magic with their hands. The massages were rejuvenating and added the perfect touch to our day. To conclude our visit, we enjoyed cappuccinos from the on-site restaurant, rounding off the day with a warm and satisfying note. Overall, The Rain Farm offers a convenient booking process, a warm welcome, and a mix of experiences, from a basic safari to exquisite massages, making it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a unique and relaxing day out.

Love earing at the restaurant, the food is delicious. We also had a game drive a d Peter was our driver/guide he was very knowledgeable and friendly. The snacks and refreshments included were well planned as it had vegetarian options. It is a beautiful place to visit for the day or stay for a few days if you love nature

Exceeded expectations. Friendly staff at every turn that go the extra mile to make the stay memorable. Thoughtful finishing touches in the comfortable room. It was wonderful to be in nature. Perfect for a romantic couple get-away but we also can’t wait to return with our children.

Wow what a beautiful experience. We stayed at a luxury tent which was pure glamping which offered something unique which we were looking for. The food was amazing and the Rain Farm must never lose their chef because each meal was perfectly presented, prepared and delicious. The staff were very friendly from the reception to the waitrons at the restaurant. A definite must for both locals and international travelers to enjoy. Highly recommended.

Poorly organised & very overpriced Father's Day lunch @ R350 a head for adults & R175 for children. Food was below par. Yes there was steak, but it was barely cooked & cold. I had to finish cooking the meat myself for our table. The activities of archery & rock climbing were aimed at the children. The archery equipment in poor condition. The handful of arrows that were available were bent & missing & damaged fletchings. Of the 3 bows, one needed a new string. My son enjoyed the climbing though.

Special treat to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Warmly welcomed and made to feel really special - all the extra touches in our room. Rose petals, cake, congratulations board. Ladies in the Spa deserve a mention - they were excellent, friendly and professional. We loved our stay and will continue to support Rain Farm. A hidden gem in our area.

The venue and location is breathtaking and we loved the tranquility and ability to appreciate nature and the wildlife introduced to this property. The river that charmed us throughout our stay played this beautiful music that was irreplaceable and it was my favorite song. The downside is that the towels smelled badly like Sulphur. It was changed when we were about to check out. The planning for the game drive, then immediately breakfast and then rush and leave at 10am is a rush and takes away from enjoying a good rest... we were not given a choice of times but placed on the game drive at 730am... Whose the guest? Don't we have a say? The check in time is very late at 2pm. We cannot enjoy the facilities that late in the afternoon and then leave by 10am. The reason for booking is to get your guest to enjoy the facilities. The only ones benefiting is the establishment and not the guest's. The braai stand cannot be utilized as the grid is so badly rusted that if you cook on it, you will end up in ICU. And we had a green mamba visitor on our deck. I didn't mind, we are of course in the wild... the rooms of course needs to be treated for ants... lots all over the coffee place... We will be back, but please look into these small things especially the hour's...

Had my daughter's birthday party here and it was so well done! The activities that were facilitated were great and all the facilitators and employees were friendly and super helpful! We pre-ordered platters and when they arrived we were really impressed, what a win this place is!

This was a little family getaway for us, unfortunately we did not have the best experience. On arrival we were asked to sign a few documents and given our room key and told supper is at 5pm. We drove around a bit looking for the room, finally got assistance to the room, we stayed at the Hartebeest Luxury Dam Unit. On arrival all the windows in the unit were open. We had a quick shower, the water had no pressure and was luke warm, we had supper and returned back to our unit. The unit has no mosquito net, we did not sleep as we heard the buzzing the entire night, we woke up with mosquito bites all over our hands and face, my poor one year old looked like he had been served up to the mosquitos. When we woke up there was no hot water in the unit, we called reception, we called the emergency number as well as the whatsapp number and we received no response at all. My only concern was if something happened in the unit how were we suppose to contact anyone from the Lodge? We heard some staff who had just arrived to work, we managed to get their attention and let them know what had happened, finally someone came to assist, we where then told the geyser would take around an hour to heat. Our game drive was at 7am and breakfast ended at 11am. It is now around 8:45am. I ask the maintenance guy to please let reception know our issue and if they can assist with another game drive. Reception then sends a WhatsApp to say they can accommodate us at 9am for a game drive as all other game drives are fully booked, keep in mind we are starving and still waiting for hot water. We manage to get ourself together and get to reception, no apology or acknowledgment whatsoever. We went on our game drive and i must commend our driver he was very sweet and tried to give us a good time despite our morning disaster. We arrived back around 10:30am and left, was not really in the mood for breakfast. Rainfarm please consider not opening the windows in the dam units but make use of the aircon. Please consider adding mosquito nets and maybe a peaceful sleep to the room to allow for guests to be comfortable.

We enjoyed our time there, the activities were a lot of fun, an extremely family friend place. Had a few issues with the food but the manager was able to resolve it effectively. We will definitely visit again.

I cannot rate the rooms as I did not sleep over. The location of this place and the scenery is beautiful. Its tucked away deep and far from other places. Its a really calming and makes you feel as you have visited another province, although its not that far from Durban CBD. I would like to have rated the service better but my burger wasnt well done like requested and had to be sent back to the kitchen.

The place is beautiful, destination too far, staff very unprofessional. Staff team building, booking was done a week in advance, but we were refused milkshakes, coke etc because they were out of stock. Food very bland and very small portions. The massage though was excellent

This was a day trip to do the game drive. Not a Big Five reserve but there were plenty of zebras and impala. Our guide Victor was very informative and didn't hesitate to go off the regular path to go closer to the animals. Lunch at the restaurant was very satisfying. Please be aware though if your GPS takes you past Collisheen Estate turn back because you get to within a kilometre of Rain Farm and the bridge is washed out and the road closed. You have to circle back to the N2. Head north up to Tinley Manor Beach. Take the off ramp and turn left. Stay on that road until you turn left onto the road that leads to Rain Farm.

Birthday Breakfast - thank you so much for spoiling our father for his 87th birthday. Beautiful surroundings, great food but it was the staff who made it for us. Such wonderful service and attention to detail.

From the moment we got to the place Mr Lawrence welcomed us with such warmth and went all out to make sure our stay cation was an amazing one, if there was a service card I'd rate him a 10 out of 10, πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ we were also assisted by Precious at the restaurant during our stay, she was phenomenal, welcoming smile and her energy just draws you in, Mr Peter during our game drive was sooo informative and helpful. The rooms were perfect, and the food was great, I can't fault them. πŸ‘ŒπŸ’œπŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ˜Ž

A piece of perfection! What an incredible weekend! Stay at the Waterbuck if you can; the spa bath is fantastic and everything was pristinely clean. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, the food is gorgeous and Gideon at the horse riding is highly entertaining. I cannot compliment the Rainfarm enough. 10 stars!!

If you are Durban based this little lodge is so close by yet you feel so far away once there. Service is incredible and our game ranger was very informative on both fauna and flora. We stayed in the water buck which is just simply rustic exactly what one needs when you just want to relax. We will certainly be back.

Best customer service In the eleventh hour of realising that its the end of school holidays and we never spent time with our kids we searched for a holiday that will suitable to both kids and adults. In out of ideas. We decided to go to Rain Farm. We called their booking desk, advised to send an email requesting booking and within an hour we received our invoice. We arrived same day to our beautiful luxury Waterbuck chalet, everything clean and fresh. All staff members are so friendly and accommodative (felt like we were vising a relative) very warm atmosphere. My kids even made friends there. The restaurant provided delicious meals, I like the fact that breakfast being (included in the booking) was not usual buffet, it was ale carte menu therefore we ordered to our pallet. The game drive was great the kids enjoyed seeing the zebras and giraffes. I can write so much but want to sincerely appreciate a lady named Khanyo who took care of us and knew what my kids would enjoy and eat. A big ups to the guys at the bar they sure took good care of my husband 😊. Thank you Rain Farm Family we shall return again

An absolute awesome experience so close to home. We went on the game drives with Peter an a lover for nature ranger very informative. The service was outstanding received by Lawrence with all our demands being met with no complaints at all. The stay at waterbuck is superb. A log cabin on the lake like something out of the movie, with our own little private island. An outside shower to experience the nature. A dinner area with door that opens onto the lake. You can literally sit in your dining room and do fishing. Plenty of activities, kids activities room, put put, jungle jim, rock climbing, abseiling, archery, paint ball, and so much more. Can't wait to go back ...
