Went here to watch the football and grab a mixed grill. The lamb chops are definitely better than those you get at Prince of Wales/The Scotsman. Service was excellent. Only disappointment was the mogo, which was a bit dry. Appears to be family friendly too (went on a Sunday afternoon).

Good food, friendly and helpful staff. Good prices. Not sure about the pool table at the end. Music got a little loud, asked the staff to turn it down. Trying to be a bar or a restaurant, pick one and decide. For me not a enjoyable atmosphere. But the food is good, usually get a takeaway. The atmosphere at my home is better. Not fun when a bunch of guys have had a few pints and shouting over the pool table.

Honestly the worst Indian we have ever eaten. Small chunks of chicken in a watery sauce is! Lots of Men getting drunk and loud..... A dog walking through the kitchen! Really! Only positive was the waiter... Sorry AQ..... an honest review.

Probably the worst experience. The staff is limited and they only take care of their regulars. The food was extremely spicy and when we asked for it to be replaced they refused. The blonde bartender has 0 customer service skills and is extremely loud. But she is good with the people at the bar. We did feel that they were being racist to us we were not asians as they seemed alright to all the asians. Will never go back here ever again and recommend the same to everyone.

The server guy was helpful & friendly but the lady doing the till wasn’t. The overall welcome was non existence apart from the server guy. She didn’t even ask if we enjoyed the meal having catered for 20 people she was glad to see us out. Food quality was average considering the experience I have in global travelling and the UK and in visiting restaurants.

I used to go to AQ with my family as we knew the old owner. This was 16+ years ago. Once he left I never reslly went back. However, I came back to AQ last year and first thing I noticed is that the decor had completely changed but it is very clean. The food is absolutely excellent and the service is very friendly...especially the Hungarian waiter...guy's my hero. AQ is now again my go to place to host out of town friends n fsmily but also where I get my Indian food from. I recommend the masala lamb chops or the king sized mixed grill if you are really hungry.

Went here on the 16th of November 23, the owners were away but the person standing in for them (former owner)was the most gracious host ever.... am sorry can't recall his name. The service was quick and excellent and the bill reasonable too. He was very conscious of our needs(had to get to the airport quick) and attended to us in a very professional, friendly and gentle way. I would recommend this restaurant any day ! Thank you from Geneva! PS: the kenyan menu was on point... and the servings large. Much appreciated.

Just enjoyed a delicious mixed grill, chilli paneer and chilli Mogo at African Queen. Service was amazing and food was out of this world. Whole family enjoyed and will definitely be our new local, served by Connor who made sure our evening was great

I travel 1 hour for the mix grill here best in the business better than Prince of wales by a mile. Food has so much flavour can never go wrong with AQ keep it up guys !!!

We've been here for a funeral reception today for our dearest friend, Brenda and I was impressed how clean everything was, the staff was welcoming and very nice and polite, service was impeccable and the food, omg, so delicious. I would give 10 stars if I could. My friends were here before and they loved it.

I use to visit African Queen way back in late 1980 and now it’s been redecorated and found the place you can take your family just like back in the 80’S Mr Connor who greeted us was very helpful and found us a table for 4 the lady Eva took the order and everything was delivered just as we like it. I even had time to ask who chef was and Connor said he is called Bobby he is from India and he surely knows how to be a perfectionist with spice and cooking skills something I admire when a chef gets everything right for your taste buds if anyone is thinking of taking family for a quality for with good portions especially the mix grill and perfect nans you are in for a treat. Very well done keep up the good work.

What a lovely place. Staff were really friendly and as a family of 4, we really enjoyed it. Food was delicious and would definitely visit there again. If you love really tasty Indian food, especially the lamb chops, you have to visit this place.

This was my second visit to this restaurant and both times I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I love curry but the food here is exceptional. It has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Totally recommend African Queen

Was quite disappointed to be honest. Haven't been in a while but food was no where as good as it has been. Also found it quite expensive!!

The food was fresh, well spiced, lots of flavour. 2nd time ordering from them & i can say this is now my go to takeaway for great food. Ordered Mixed Grill, Chana Masala, veg biriyani, peshwari nan, somasos and poppadoms. Fed 2 adults 1 teen and we still have loads of meat left. 😬

I have been coming to African Queen since I was a child. Was our family go to for a mixed grill and food. It’s changed hands a few times and it’s not been great. Recently I’ve heard it had changed again and everyone has said that the food is as good as the original owner from many years ago. I have to say that even though the place was really busy. The food and time it took to come out was really poor. We waited 1 hour for food. We ordered the Special mixed grill, Butter chicken, saag paneer and masala chips. The grill was big but really lacked flavour and it was definitely not cooked in a tandoor. The butter chicken was very sweet. The masala chips and saag paneer were decent with nice flavours. Was disappointed after hearing this place has really upped its game.

Had to wait ages for food to arrive. Mixed grill was way too spicy. Chilli paneer was shop bought cubes drenched in tomato ketchup. Don’t waste your money, go elsewhere. Oh and if you dare criticise, the restaurant will respond by telling you to go elsewhere instead of taking the points raised in board. Pathetic. All the negative reviews must be wrong somehow…

Ordered via Uber Eats. The skinned wings in the mixed grill were off. The rest of the mixed grill was just about par. No chutneys or sauces included, so I phoned up the place and the lady rudely told me you must pay for the chutneys and sauces when I did not see any options or recommendations to purchase before paying. Most places give free chutneys and sauces but not AQ! The lamb curry was chewy. Overall disappointing experience and ruined birthday! Thanks AQ.

Went here for the first time Friday after being recommended by friends and food was amazing! We ordered loads of the menu so could try a range and the waitress even told us it was too much for two people, so not just all about the money. The two servers we had were both lovely and even with a bottle of wine was very reasonably priced. Took extras home and have been enjoying it for three days now! Highly recommended!

Just visited the place today with a few friends, I'm a big foodie and I have to say I just had the best mix grill ever, I had the AQ jumbo masala mix grill, all the meat was soft and on point..the service by the lady was amazing(did not catch her name) extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this spot.. only been here the once so hoping its not a 1 off

I have visited the place with few friends, and I have to say I just had a good mix grill. I also had the jumbo masala mix grill as well and really felt that all the meat was soft and on point. the service was really good Sb’s the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My expectations didn’t fail as the food was tasty. Ambience is ok as well and the traditional flavours I felt on the food

Visited again after a few years. The food and service was great. Better than the other London desi pubs and dare I say it almost at Midland Desi Pub level!

Bar and restaurant with car parking. The restaurant area is bigger than you think. Food is tasty and fresh. Also shows live football on a big screen in the restaurant area. Recommended

When I first walked in I was taken aback because it doesn't look like your classic Indian restaurant - the first thing you see is the bar. But the staff are really friendly and showed us round to the back of the building where they have a fantastic round table where 17 of us were able to sit and eat. The food quality was really good, and so was the service. Been there several times now and it's always been a good experience.

The food here has always been a league above other Indian restaurants. Used to come here years back, before it was done up. The green lipped muscles were to die for. Now it's the mixed grill and the naan bread ? staff are friendly.

Went for a family meal with a group of at least 20 people. One of the chef that evening was off sick and one chef handled the entire evening. The food was so amazing and did not compromise on quality at all. Every dish came out so delicious and fresh. Very good place and environment is so comfortable and chilled out.

Best tandoori mixed grill ever. Asked for extra extra hot Masalla for mains but was amazingly mild.

Went here once and I didn’t have the best experience, the evening started off fine, but didn’t end to pleasantly. We ordered a mixed grill to begin with, the wait time was okay but the food was overcooked and quite dry. The staff were very rude and it felt like they didn’t appreciate newcomers, they reacted very well the the regulars and I could see the difference in service and attitude between the way they treated different customers.

Visited this bar/restaurant tonight, the owner and barmaid ensured we got a table straight away even though we had not booked prior. The food was amazing , good portions and well worth the visit. Definitely recommend if you enjoy mixed grills

This restaurant and bar was very busy and the car park seemed full so I had to park on the road. Inside we were ushered to our reserved table. A football match was going on on TV and after the match a music channel was switched on. People were enjoying chatting eating and drinking. We ordered our food and drinks which was quick to arrive and was thoroughly enjoyable. We hope to visit again and would recommend that you give them a try.

Group of 4, food was quick and delicious. We tried different dishes and the quality was there. Reasonably priced, great service. Easy parking at the side, sports TV by the well stocked bar, attentive staff. The hall has laser lights, I guess open to Parties. Midweek, peaceful atmosphere.

Brilliant little pub that has a big screen for all the sports (bt&sky sports) the food furthermore is lovely especially the famous local mixed grill!

The food was very good, the service however was a bit slow. There was a good amount of spice of each dish although I had an issue with one of the dishes on another table across room whereby the spices were irritating my throat.

Mix grill meat was tough on all the meats must have been frozen the coke out of tap still tasted of rinse aid for the pipes not cleaned properly ,pompous easten European waiter not a authentic experience at all that came at a price

The food was was really quick serve and the waiter was really kind and really friendly. Just what I miss was not music just football .But the place is amazing, food and the staff.
