This beautiful pub was built in 1893 as Prescott’s Bank and, through various iterations, became part of NatWest in 1970. Now a thoughtfully restored Fuller’s pub and hotel. The ground floor is cavernous and the range of ales / craft beers is really impressive. The upstairs galleries are reserved for lunchtime and evening dining. This place gets very busy and very loud as the sound echos. Lunchtime / mid-afternoon is the best time to visit, although it’s closed at the weekends.

Stunning Location and Surroundings, absolutely beautiful. The three Bar Attendants were Professional but same can't be said for the other two whom I assume were Supervisors/Managers who made it blatantly clear were not happy with our presence. I brought my work team majority ex Ghurkas in the late Fifties/Sixties . Whenever these two served my Guys they were abrupt and very unprofessional. Really disappointing as group was well behaved and spent a fair bit of money there. Real shame as other attendants were Professional and Friendly.

Pub lunch today. FOOD review only. I had the mushroom and avocado in sourdough bread (as stated in the menu) which was nothing but a smearing of filling inside stale white bread. Not sourdough. I sent the food back and was told that they didn’t have any sourdough. Replacement meal was the chicken pie. The filling was mostly a white sauce. No substance. A very poor food offering for one of the most stunning buildings in the city. So my suggestion is go there for a drink and move to where the food is nicer. Such a pity in a world class city. I was embarrassed to have taken overseas friends there. For some reason I cannot give a star rating for food.

Quite impressed with this place. The room was quite characterful and well appointed. The bar was also full of character and with a good selection of good drinks. Breakfast was excellent. Can't fault it.

I would have given this place 2 stars because I hated their vegetarian Christmas menu. It was one of the worst I have had. I admit most vegetarian Christmas menus are terrible. However I would come back to try their regular menu. It serves me right for trying their Christmas menu based on my past experience for other restaurants Christmas offerings. We spent 37 for 3 courses. Definitely not worth it. The main was really dry and quite bland. I wonder if the person who designed the vegetarian menu tasted what they had created. I suggest you make your own judgement but their Christmas menu is not for me.

Very good night meeting up with old friends made much better because we had luckily reserved a table upstairs! Very friendly staff and great service. Only downside was beer was very expensive!

Went to bar for drinks. Very pleasant and buzzy pub. Beautiful interior. Historically fascinating if you're like me and enjoy history architecture. Secret tip ': you can use this pub as a cut through from leadenhall market as it has front and back entrances. A charming place to stop for a pint

Clean, quiet and good place to stay in London. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is hearty and offers a pretty good variety of options. We had dinner one night in the pub and found the fish and chips to be really good. It’s a Fuller’s property so you’re only going to get their beers, but other pubs nearby offer more options if you want to expand your taste. If you’re there on a Sunday night, the beer delivery truck may rattle you very early Monday morning but it’s not the hotel’s fault. The drivers have to be gone by 7am. The room we had was nicely decorated, clean and comfy. This is also a quiet area for the most part and the hotel is close to historic Leadenhall Market, London Bridge and Borough Market. Even in a heatwave, we were able to walk to Parliament. Rates are reasonable for this city and we recommend a stay here.

Beautiful pub. Cask beer was fresh. Quite expensive for own brand beer, but I guess their clientele are city workers. Clean modern toilets. Just a shame there's no actual craft beer on the menu but it is a Fullers chain so again unsurprising.

Beautiful bar/pub. Architecture was stunning and the attention to detail in the decor made it comfortable and relaxed. We only went for drinks but next time I am in this area we will definitely stop for a meal. Fascinating area of London. Staff were also charming.

Went on a Friday night and while it was quite noisy with groups of local workers having drinks before going home it didn't spoil our visit. In fact we got quite chatty with one group who made us feel welcome despite being complete strangers. The building itself is an interesting place, the food (pies) mouth watering and a great selection of beers. What more is there to say?

Booked for lunch on a Tuesday and have to say what a great lunch it was. Service was excellent, we had squid and nachos for starters, good size portion and lovely quality and well presented. We had the fish pie with mash and greens another hearty meal, lovely pie, highly recommended. Our waitress was excellent, sorry I didn’t get your name, very pleasant lady, wore glasses and great personality. There was a nice offer on of pie and a pint £17, pint for 50p! Will be back for sure and have booked for 28th April. I real gem in the heart of the city. A lovely venue.

Very nice hotel and pub. Old converted bank with tons 9f atmosphere. Rooms are small but exceptionally clean, neat and modern with high ceilings and wood paneling. Pub atmosphere is the best with domed ceiling and beautiful chandeliers. Food is also well above average and service is top notch. A must visit for any trip to London

A really well done, spacious bank conversion. The pub is often very quiet on a Saturday evening, so you can enjoy the architecture in peace and quiet (and have a good conversation). This is a Fullers pub. Brilliant beer, food a bit ordinary but reliable.

Staying here is like stepping back in time, in only the best of ways. The Counting House rooms are reminiscent of accommodations from over a century ago, but with plenty of modern amenities and great housekeeping standards. Comfortable bed, quiet rooms despite a pub being downstairs, and great breakfast and dinner options in the pub, which is outfitted in circa 1890s decor. The front desk was superb in dealing with any concerns that arose. The location is also unbeatable, with 3 Tube stops in easy walking distance, and a safe area that's quiet at night. It's not cheap, but it's a much nicer experience than staying in an impersonal hotel chain. Hope to be able to return someday!

Two nights in London in this fabulous boutique hotel. Breakfast was served in the pub downstairs which was the old Counting House. Brilliant domed ceiling and Victorian features make this a really special place. Well worth a visit.

Was told a couple of months ago that they weren’t doing table/area reservations in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Got there a week before Christmas and half the tables had been reserved. Managed to get a table by hanging around and jumping on a table when it became free. No cocktails just basics offered beer/spirits/wine. Didn’t try the food. The building/space itself was very nice. Staff were pleasant.

Went for a drink here because we were in the wrong district! But glad we did stunning London pub it's what I love about visiting the City. Really nice staff but it's the pub itself got the wow factor.

Love this beautiful pub. The main room is stunning, and it's lovely sitting in the mezzanine watching the business going on below. Their pies are delicious and nicely priced.

Went in for an afternoon drink stop. An amazing building to sit and enjoy a beer in. Good selection of drinks, staff were friendly and the architecture of the building was stunning. Although we didn’t have any, the food looked pretty good too. Will absolutely be back!

Loved this charming hotel. Friendly service, easy check in, hot water, breakfast and comfy bed! The bar and restaurant downstairs is great and you get a discount! The neighborhood was very nice however nightlife was limited. Would definitely recommend!

Great building with bags of character. Old banking Hall pub with hotel over. Pub very good. Rooms very good. Didn't test the service thoroughly so difficult to report. Entrance to hotel a simple ground floor Stair lobby with reception at level 2, so not much of a sense of arrival. Lift could do with a refurb. Building work going on to create more rooms but didn't detract from our stay. Great breakfast. Would stay again.

Such a fantastic venue! Visited this as part of our Christmas party. It was very overcrowded, but this was probably due to the timing, with it being the last Thursday before the work from home advice came onto force. We had reserved a couple of tables and were seated quickly, we had also pre-ordered mulled wine which arrived quickly and was delicious. I would definitely visit again in less hectic times for a tipple it two.

Disappointed with this place. It looks great, pretty and festive. Very expensive all over and a distinct lack of attention to detail. Arrived and stood for 5 mins no one waiting to seat us. Shown to a Less desirable place to sit seat stuck in main thoroughfare. Drinks very expensive, food average. Pies were nice, portion size small. Could have filled us up on the chap chips and vegetables.but no. Very expensive for average service. Won't be returning.

3 stars for the interior, 2 stars for the service. Kitchen opened at noon. First two choices were not available. Settled for Welsh Rarebit which was quite tasty, and my sister settled for what turned out to be the smallest meat pie known to man. There seemed to be a lot of staff behind the bar, only 1 of whom appeared to know what they were doing.

The hotel is near the tube station. The bed is comfortable. We love the washroom but the towel/ dress dryer was not working. We appreciated that they provide items like the coffee, tea, water, and that they were flexible on the breakfast schedule. The pub, Fuller’s, is highly recommended! Great food and accommodating staff. The challenge we had during check in was about the instructions provided to us over the phone about the location. It was confusing so we had to walk for more than 30 minutes around the area while carrying our luggages, but Egle apologized for it and made sure we had a comfortable stay.

The Counting House is an impressive Fuller's pub and hotel in the heart of London. A great mezzanine area and various "other" rooms in which to eat and drink. A fine selection of beers both cask and keg. Originally built as a Victorian banking hall the building is both grand and intimate. A fine place for a pint or a pie or as a base to explore London.

Amazing surroundings - high ceilings, cool island bar, lots of seats and balconies. Drink selection limited but adequate. Better pub food elsewhere but possibly not a better setting.

What should have been a very pleasant Sunday afternoon lunch turned out to be The Worst Experience Ever! One would think that two drinks and two sandwiches should be extremely straightforward, but it turned out to be anything but. We were seated quite promptly and ordered two drinks while we looked over the menu. And waited. And then waited some more. The server came over and took our order for lunch, even though we were still waiting for our drinks. They eventually came after 15 minutes or so, she apologised for the delay but offered no explanation. While we were waiting, we were treated to the cacophony of a small child screaming her lungs out in the back of the restaurant. I appreciate that pubs are not the child-free zones they used to be, but I don't expect babies to be screaming for the better part of an hour. Even more bizarre than this were the tour groups wandering in off the street, gawping at the interior and taking photographs of themselves and then leaving again. Fair enough, but they were jabbering away and jostling our table near the front while they were doing all this. Meanwhile, we are still waiting for our lunch. After 30 minutes waiting for two sandwiches to turn up, my partner went to the bar and asked where they were. I should note that no one had been anywhere near our table during these 30 minutes. About 15 seconds after he returned, our meals miraculously arrived. The chips were room temperature, the salad was wilted and the bread had been toasted so long before that one was chewy as rubber, while the other was rock hard. We tried them both, but didn't eat either. We paid the bill and left, most certainly never to return.

Beautiful and historic setting to enjoy and drink and a spot of lunch. If you can, avoid 1-2pm as it can get quite crowded, unless of course you enjoy the hustle and bustle of a city lunchtime. A great range of drinks on offer and the food was great but not cheap. Overall, definitely worth a visit.

Great place to stay while in/near The City of London. The rooms are well appointed and comfy (though there was a weird vibration that started every morning ~7:30am that could be felt in the corner of the room and bathroom). Access to the pub below is down some stairs (or through the lift if you want to go outside). I had a reservation mixup when booking my stay (and trying to get it resolved with the nighttime staff (different time zones) was not possible, I'm almost confused why the night staff even answers the phone if they're just going to tell you to call in the morning). The included breakfast in the morning is pricey but they have a good selection of food to order as well as a small selection of laid out food stuffs.

Such a fantastic interior which still has a lot of original features such as vaults, a safe and large chandeliars. The staircase is grand and has impressive large stained window. Drinks are quite expensive but that was expected as it's not a Weatherspoon pub. No tv, at least I didn't see it, so could engage in social interaction without the distraction.

One of the best pubs I have ever visited for a sit down drink. Really cosy in the winter and it's twinned with a pub in Birmingham called the old joint stock, it's basically a mini version. The Amstel is tasty and around £5.50 pint. Would 100% recommend for a pit stop to refuel with a good pint in really nice surroundings.

Hired the whole venue for our wedding in September, they helped organise everything before with a tasting and several meetings to talk through options and setup. Were fantastic dealing with a whole year delay to the big day as well. On the day all the staff were so lovely and helpful, the venue looked perfect and the food was amazing.

The location was good and pub downstairs was fine but I was given a disabled room. Pull cords everywhere and no bath but a shower with a seat you can pull down. Not what I wanted or needed after walking round London all day. Tea bags and milk seemed to be rationed in room and hotel receptionist not very helpful

Why 3 stars? The good: Location, breakfast, room size and amenities. The bad: no toilet scrubber and the elevator was broken. The ugly: mold in bathroom and leaking from floor above. Pictures show it all. We came back in the evening to find a brown liquid in our tea service. This was leaking from above floor...not the fault of the hotel hopefully. The front desk lady were quick to clean up the tea service and to move us to another room next door. She was pleasant and professional. When communicating about the arrival time, the hotel did not inform us that the elevator was broken. Reception and room are two long flights of stairs. Each time you go down the climb back up was an aerobic exercise. My knee luckily was able to maintain. Understanding now it was over a weekend, but they could have offered us a drink at the bar for our troubles. There is no excuse for the mold.

Great location, on arrival we were able to check in early as well as having a complimentary upgrade to one of the nicest rooms in the hotel. The room was extremely clean and well furnished - it looked identical to the photos advertised online. Included complimentary tea and coffee, as well as a Nescafé machine. Very comfy bed, extremely spacious, lovely clean bathroom. The view from the windows was amazing. The included breakfast was amazing and large. All the staff were lovely, the hotel receptionist was very polite and accommodating. Only 2 mins from the nearest tube stop. Will definitely be returning whenever we go to London :) We had a meal there also, which was very fast service and polite wait staff. The main bar area was nicely decorated (christmas) and well furnished.

This hotel was excellent, great location, spacious room with complimentary refreshments, comfy bed, nice staff. We didn't try the breakfast but it was included which is good for the price. The only niggle was we had the accessible room (just because it was the only one available) and the lift was broken which wasn't communicated to us before we arrived. If the room had been for someone with accessibility issues I can't imagine what they would have done, since the hotel is on the second floor.

  • 4/5 patrick g. 2 years ago on Google
Very busy and noisy (lead up to Christmas). Just about found somewhere to park ourselves and have a drink. Drinks not cheap but then you would expect that being where it is. Think this was an old bank premises, hence the name, before getting this makeover into a pub. Not a Wetherspoons for a change. Excellent position for a "power drink" after a bit of tough negotiation in a nearby bank 😀

  • 2/5 Emilia Hogarth née C. 2 years ago on Google
Although the room was very good our stay was immediately put off by the rudeness of the receptionist who made us feel that she was doing us a favour by allowing us stay to an already booked room. If a hotel does not make you feel welcomed then the experience will always be in jeopardy. I can’t fault the room it was really nice

Hi there, Firstly my key team we and I were talking about having an amazing group party nearly 60 ppl and right after the the pub is about to close the security came and took our glasses from table, right after the waitress has done the same, shouting on us, dragging us through the door, swearing to me and literally kicking us out. I know the rules, I asked for a plastic cup to put my drink ti but still they were so aggressive… I couldn’t stop crying as they treat me so badly in front of my team. I work so near by and the minimum everyone hope is a good service, kind and respectful. I don’t think that I’ll be a future customer having this kind of attitude... pls have a think which kind of employees you’re having. .
