We had our wedding reception at the Elgin. The staff were amazing, the food and drinks were above expectations and the room looked absolutely stunning. We had the greatest time, in great surroundings and were really looked after by the team from start to finish. ❤

We feel very lucky to have The Elgin on our doorstep. We've been regulars here, along with a bunch of friends, for many years and have recently held a couple of events in the great space upstairs which have been amazing. These have been the perfect opportunity to reconnect with friends and loved ones that we've missed after the past couple of years of restrictions. The venue has a great atmosphere and always looks good, the food is consistently delicious, and the coffee remains the best in the area. However it's the team that run the place that really impress. Nothing seems to phase them, and they are always on hand to make sure all goes smoothly. Whether it be turning up with crayons and games for the kids at just the right moment, or making sure your Bloody Mary has the correct level of spice so that it can work its magic. We would highly recommend the place for a meal, a drink, a Sunday Roast, a coffee or your special events.

Great place to chill with drinks but sadly wouldn't recommend the food as it's style over substance. Brunch portions are small and of average taste for the price, coffee is quite bitter too. £3.50 for extra avocado is OUTRAGEOUS. Also hit and miss with the service - some people friendlier than others. Has potential to be a really great all round spot but should look at changing up the menu.

My friend and I decided to give the Elgin a visit as we had recently seen that their roast had been nominated within the Top 5 best in the UK. We arrived and was greeted by the friendly staff but the food I felt was lacking. The portion size and overall plate presentation wasn't great and a little messy with everything thrown on top of each other. The potatoes were the best bit - lovely and crispy and the veg was really nice too but overall it wasn't the best Roast I've had. The gravy was runny and didn't really add any depth to the overal roast like a gravy should. They had ran out of stuffing that was supposed to be served with the roast chicken option and when inquiring about this that's when the above was brought to our attention. The staff provided us with a discount and additional extra from the roast to make up for oversight which was nice.

I understand it’s a pub a one should probably lower his expectations, but nothing can justify such gross disrespect of basic hygiene standards! The blond waitress played non-stop with her ponytail in the middle of service, and if that was not enough, she after playing with a customer’s dog she moved straight behind the counter to sort glasses out of the dishwasher without even washing her hands. Add the lame mulled wine, the lukewarm chips, and the squash cooked with its own skin (which may sound cool, but made it hardly edible) and you get a non-negotiable one-star feedback.

The Elgin in Maida Vale, on Elgin drive is a fine little pub cum cafe close to Maida Vale underground station. A small selection of keg beers and ciders. No sign of any cask ales. Quick polite service, a card only outlet. A pleasant place for a beer.

The perfect London wedding venue :) We hired out the whole of the Elgin for the evening do of our wedding - Mags, David, Cara and the team were absolutely brilliant and the venue worked perfectly. They were super flexible with letting us choose the layout of the pub and bringing in our own decorations. They set-up everything exactly as we had imagined and the team were absolutely brilliant on the evening. Everyone loved the food and we had loads of complements on the venue choice. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to host a wedding, birthday or large get-together with friends!

Nice pub in central North West of London. Came in the afternoon to meet a friend on Sunday and they had space at the back. Were happy to let me sit and read with a coffee for a while, taking up a table before the friend joined. We ordered a toast with eggs/avocado which was good value. Both were roughly £10 each when they could otherwise have been £12+. A few young family's came to spend the morning there in a larger table - it was nice that they could do this.

If I could give this 4.5 stars I would, however not all food was on par so I have to give a 4 instead of a 5. We had Sunday roast with a few friends and we all had different meat-based versions of it: - Lamb and pork belly were tasty - Chicken was okay - Beef was inconsistent and subpar: 2 out of 3 were thin, overcooked, chewy slices (one friend asked for a different piece as the first was not edible, still got an overcooked and chewy piece), one was nice and pink, still somewhat chewy but it was a rump steak so to be expected. The veggies and Yorkshire puddings were great, gravy was runny but tasty so no bother to us. Some of us had a drink and on splitting the bill it came to £30 each, slightly overpriced for the quality/quantity of food. Service was great, admittedly took a while to get food orders but it was a fully booked Sunday, after that no issues, on the contrary, very polite and pleasant staff. The pub itself is very warm, traditional yet quirky. Overall, definitely not the best Sunday roast I've had, I think this award has done the pub more harm than good, but food was overall okay, somewhat overpriced, and I would visit again to try their standard menu, not roast.

🚇Maida Vale 🍺 £5.90 Elgin Lager ❤️ A superb local hangout. The Elgin is located at the end of a tall Victorian terrace in the heart of Maida Vale. Getting here is easy, Maida Vale Tube Station is located diagonally across the road. The Lord Elgin as it was once known was built in 1869. In 2013 the pub looking tired and forlorn was given a new lease of life by Urban Leisure Group. The metro tiled servery dominates the bar and runs down the left hand side. Opposite the servery are several poser tables and stools. At the far end of the bar is some comfy low level seating, a projector screen and a random elephant adorning the wall. By the entrance are some beautiful Victorian glazed tiles which sit above Georgian panels and a nice big cosy sofa. Upstairs is a dining/function room which is available for hire. The beer line up was impressive, there are ten London based draught craft beers and ciders to choose from, plus plenty of bottles in the fridge. I decided on a pint of the house lager, my pint was excellent and price point average. There is a seasonal food menu available consisting of elevated gastropub style dishes. The roasts on a Sunday are well celebrated, a Chicken Roast costs £19.50. We arrived just after 6pm on a Saturday evening, on arrival the place was fairly busy with a local crowd in attendance. Not long after we settled in, things got very busy. There was a lively upbeat buzzy atmosphere emanating from the early evening punters. The service was excellent, the staff here were super friendly and clearly enjoyed what they do. Throughout the month there are Live Music and Comedy Nights, if fancy testing your general knowledge there is a Pub Quiz on Tuesdays. We really enjoyed our time here, @the_elgin_maidavale was a pleasant surprise. This is a fantastic hybrid establishment that has a bit of something for everyone. The beer was great and reasonably priced, the food looked amazing and is popular with the punters plus there is plenty to keep you entertained. Pub traditionalist will probably give this one a swerve, but I would definitely recommend a visit here. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 16.09.23

Yeast free menu... Humus and sour dough bread was tasty. But it is small portion. Chips are also good.

I hosted my 30th birthday party at the Elgin and couldn’t recommend it enough. We had a truly brilliant evening. The food and drinks were seriously delicious and the staff could not have been more accommodating for us. The upstairs space where we had the party is really beautiful and I can see how perfectly it would work for wedding receptions too. Communication with the venue about various requests ahead of the evening was also answered promptly and helpfully. We received brilliant feedback from all our guests and would definitely come back for another event here, or just to enjoy the pub on a normal day!

My partner and I were looking for a venue for a small intimate wedding ceremony and from the first moment we came to visit The Elgin, the general manager and her team were so accommodating and helpful and nothing was a problem. The team were so friendly and helpful and the food was exceptional and all the guests loved it so much. Big thanks to the chefs for preparing so much quality food for 23 people at the same time! Please pass on our thanks to all your team. The upstairs room at The Elgin was the perfect venue for us and looked incredible on the day. We are very grateful for everything you did and would highly recommend The Elgin

Talkative staff, which may not seem important to many that are with friends, but when you're alone or waiting for someone, then staff is chatty and easy to talk to, it provides a homie feel. I return to this place every time I am in London on work because you can relax and talk to people and not have it be awkward... 5 stars for this place, a pub should be social.

Pleasant ambience, decor and service at this independent watering hole. Me and my partner stopped by to do some paperwork this afternoon, ordered some refreshing pints of lager for each of us while we worked. Then we got hungry so we ordered ourselves a delicious gourmet burger each, which were accompanied by delicious hand cut chips. Highly recommended place and food, best burger for miles!

Perfectly fine, but could have been a lot better for the price of the food. There was only one vegan main option which was a mushroom burger but they didn't have the almond brie cheese that was advertised so for £16 it was an expensive veggie option. The crispy mushroom itself was pretty good though. Knocked a star off for service as we asked for vinegar and the staff took quite a while to find a single vinegar pot that had a teaspoon of vinegar in, and the salt and pepper shakers on our table were empty.

Really nice staff. Lots of space to sit. But a very disappointing Sunday roast.. took my friend there for her ‘first British roast..’ for £30 each the quality was pretty poor really. Came out cold and had to send back to reheat. The horseradish was not horseradish it was cream. All in all a pretty gross meal and not cheap. She gave it a five out of ten though.

A nice space to meet friends for a coffee, drink, snack or bite to eat. There were also some young families in the daytime hours grabbing a drink and juice for there little ones. It has the inside vibes of a used warehouse with reclaimed iron features in this large quirky pub. Lots of locals and mostly friendly staff who are welcoming.

Staff is attentive, and food is delicious. Baked goods and breads come from a local bake shop. Loads of vegan and vegetarian options. I had farm fresh eggs on a large piece of sourdough toast, fantastic! Loads of coffee and tea options.

Tasty coffee, a small but very tasty selection of beers on tap and great food too. Relaxed atmosphere with good tunes at an easy volume both during the day and in the evening. Friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Definitely recommended.

A big and spacious gastropub with plenty of seating. Coffee is superb (very good beans being used here from a local supplier) and the food is hearty, well cooked and great value for money in the Maida Vale area. A great place to go for a quick coffee and catchup with friends as well as for a meal out. Staff are very kind and friendly with an efficient service.

Great atmosphere! Only had appetisers and some cocktails - nothing to rave about (nothing to complain about either, apart from the fact that the focaccia was quite dry but the burrata was lovely). Service was great and pleasant (we were served by a gentleman on Thursday 4th Jun).

My husband and I held our wedding reception at The Elgin and were blown away by the incredible effort made by the team on-site, as well as by our event manager. The venue itself is stunning, and the team really do go the extra mile to help you add your own special touches to the space. I could not recommend The Elgin more - all of our guests are still talking about how beautiful the space is and how good the wine was. Thank you for making our day so special.

Lovely gastropub...relax and chill place in teh afternoon... especially if you sit up stairs. Food is good. My wife has the salmon hash which she enjoyed and I had the burger. Coffee was mellow and not acidic. Sunday Roast to come soon! Not at the moment. Will definitely go again.

We hired the top floor of The Elgin for our Wedding Reception recently and were absolutely amazed with the service received. The whole team behind the scenes were incredible at communicating with as ahead of the big day to ensure that everything was as we wanted. They answered all of our questions very quickly and decorated the space beautifully. On the day the food was absolutely brilliant - all of our guests commented on how delicious it was. We had around 30 guests for the reception and 30 more joined for the evening. The space was perfect for this amount of people. The team were so accommodating and made our day incredibly special. Thank you to all at The Elgin!
