Great breakfast right on the canal, Sun shines on the table until nearly lunch time. You can pick up canal trip boats here, at weekends

Lovely pub right beside the Canal at a quaint lock, opposite the canal museum. Fantastic thick cut chips and a pint, with very friendly staff.

First ever canal holiday in the 1970's stopped at the boat inn. It was great then and it still is. Warm welcome great food and excellent beer. Just like all pubs should be. Packed in the summer but peaceful this time of year. Well worth the diversion into the Northants countryside to step back in time. Long may it continue

The full English Breakfast was gorgeous. Hugh amount on the plate, but really good quality ingredients and a very good price. The staff were very efficient and friendly. I highly recommend the breakfast followed by a lovely walk along the canal.

Great service, fabulous food. A bit quiet, but to be expected in the winter on a Monday night. Definitely recommend and would love to go back in the Summer ☀ 😁

Went for the first time to try out this place due to a recommendation and was not disappointed. The food was lovely and the staff were helpful and friendly. Please note it gets very busy on a Sunday so a good idea to book

This should have been a 5 star review, unfortunately, due to the ice cream lady, I have only given a 3 star. 2 days ago we went into the pub and had a lovely meal and the staff were fantastic and very warm and friendly. Well worth 5 stars. Today, the lady who was on the ice cream window, was quite frankly. Terrible. She blanked me twice, then when know one else was waiting just started cleaning. I had to initiate the conversation which she looked like I had stole her last fiver. My wife was so annoyed we just walked out. Not something we do. She really needs to be re trained. She lets the rest of the great team down.

On my first visit to the pub last Friday I enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch but unfortunately tripped and fell.heavily (not a normal occurrence!) when entering the pub. I received very considerate attention from the staff and a customer. Could I suggest that the white strip on the step when entering the pub where I tripped be changed to yellow to avoid another elderly person doing the same? I will certainly return for another tasty lunch though. The pub and village are lovely. Kind regards

Fabulous breakfast and drinks. Very dog friendly. Drinks not cheap though, but it's a tourist area in a fab location.

Excellent canalside pub with a wide ranging bar menu as well as more formal dining. Large portions. Fantastic location on a lock and opposite the Canal Museum. Plenty of outdoor seating when the weather allows. Staff very welcoming and efficient. Well worth a visit. Yet another visit. Same comments apply

Just popped in with my wife as we were out for a drive. We were greeted by a very nice young man behind the bar, very polite, nice and welcoming, and no fuss. I had two pints of San Miguel, they were lovely pints, with a nice head all the way to the bottom of the glass. Definitely coming back in the summer.

Nice pub in a very nice location, right by the canal with plenty of seating outside. A few nice little bar and seating areas inside the pub too. Very good drinks choice, lots of ales, lagers and non-alcoholic options at very good prices.

Family owned pub, canalside with outdoor seating and offering boat trips. We had very tasty burgers and good pub menu with usual selection of drinks. Friendly service. Very small car park and gets extremely busy when the weather is good. Recommended if you are in the area. Opposite is the canal museum and always fun to watch the boats going through the locks (under repair at the moment).

Fantastic little find base the Canal museum. There’s outdoor seating out the front by the canal (which is in shade in the afternoon) and more outdoor seating at the back of the pub which does overlook the car park but is sunny and quiet in the afternoon. Plenty of seating indoors. All areas dog friendly. Very friendly staff and good service! I had the baked potato with cheese and beans (served with fresh salad) delicious! My partner had the chilli nachos which were also delicious and both were generous servings!

A really wonderful, friendly pub. Both old and modern building which is very tasteful and inviting. Wonderful, polite, courteous staff where nothing was too much trouble. Very clean facilities and the menu was vast and food wellcooked and presented, reasonably priced to suit all pockets. Highly recommended.

We asked for a table were told that food would be a hour, which was fine with us. 1 h 15min later we found ou that our ticket was lost and since we were short on time we were give a full refund and promise a quick foc meal. Baguettes came within 10 min and were absolutely awful. Only one star because we were given an apology

I've had many meals at this restaurant over the years but this was probably the best meal yet. I now have dietary requirements due to health/medical issues and these requirements were dealt with, with absolutely no fuss. It's a pity more eating establishments are not more inclusive and understanding. For this alone I would give The Boat 10 out of 10. The pub/restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. The type of staff that really make you feel valued as a customer. Access for anyone with any kind of difficulties or with wheels should be ok and with staff like these no doubt they would offer help if needed. On this occasion I ordered a ribeye steak, I was not disappointed. Also ordered on this visit was Hunters Chicken and a Curry. All the plates went back clean. And we had a lovely view of the canal. Pity it wasn't a warmer sunnier day, but it's England so I suppose I should be grateful it wasn't raining!

A lovely canal side restaurant/pub. Enjoyed by local boaters and visitors alike. Sausage and mash was delicious. Perfectly large but not wasteful portions. Proper homely belly warming food. And very reasonable on pricing for what you get in my opinion. Thank you Boat Inn! 🛥️

An amazing find. We had an event to attend at the boat Inn with a set menu of £25 per person. Private dining room and a fantastic meal at that price. The staff were helpful and attentive. Top evening. Well worth a visit.

Lovely location and a cosy pub. We have eaten here a number of times and enjoyed the food enormously. So we decided to book Christmas day luncheon. The starters was delicious, mains more than enough although the roast potatoes a let down, just not crispy. We were looking forward to dessert, Christmas pudding/custard lacked the alcohol. I know that is a personal thing, but do feel a more boozy one for the adults. Only 3 cream crackers between two people. Plenty of cheese, but there really should have been enough cream crackers on the plate to begin with without having to ask for more. Disappointing mince pies, these really should have been home made and not shop bought. It was a lovely touch to have a little box of party poppers etc and a gift for each of us at the end. Over all it was a nice day. Service was top notch. It did lack atmosphere, no christmas music nor fairy lights in the dining room or the reception area upstairs. Can I also say, jeans? really. A dress code would be nice on such a day.

Had a ribeye steak in the evening and a veggie breakfast the following morning. Both were excellent 👌 The portion sizes are enormous, well worth the price. The locals and bar staff are really friendly. Highly recommend bringing a big dog here as everyone there loves dogs! Would definitely go back again and suggest everyone stops over there before they do the lock 👍

The Fillet Steak is to die for! This is our 3rd time returning for this dish (incidentally, we've also had breakfasts, and other dishes off the menu - delicious... but we happen to favour Steak).. Staff and atmosphere are wonderful. A ten out of five for us xxx

Very friendly pub, full of character and very welcoming. We booked very late for a party of 7 on Easter Sunday but it was no problem to fit us in. Good food, friendly bar staff and great views of the canal. We have visited several times on our boat travels and will definitely be back!

The best Full English breakfast this morning at 9.30am. Lovely canal side location with very friendly service. Just what was needed after a long early morning walk along the tow path and around Stoke Bruerne. Well recommended.

Nice friendly pub where we had good food. I had the steak and ale pie full of steak and huge puff pastry top. Well worth a visit x

Nice enough modern lounge bar to the rear but it's the small, original canalside bar that's the real jewel here. Quarry tiled floor, open fireplace and original wood bar. Friendly staff and scrumptious cheesy chips! The only gripe I have is that so much of the car park was occupied by a marquee and extra tables. Instead of circling three times waiting for a space I might easily have driven off for somewhere else.

Madge has great memories of this canal side pub. Back in the 1980's we would call in here on the way home from footie in London. Saturday evening back then most pubs in the country opened at 7pm so that was about the time we got here. Sad for the driver. Still well worth getting off the M1 for a break. Good selection of Marston's beers. Food served and a skittle alley.

Good food, good staff. The prices are about right. Seemed very busy as we went past on Sunday and we came back and moored up on Monday evening. We were the only booked table, however other boaters were there also and enjoyed their meals. The only down side, is I had to leave this feedback the next day as signal on Vodafone and O2 was non existent.

Stopped here after visiting the museum and had a boat ride. Reasonable prices, good sized portions, especially the kids meals, and good service. We sat outside and watched our children helping the canal volunteers to open the locks, and stroke all the passing dogs !! They also enjoyed trying out skittles !!

This is a lovely family owned pub and restaurant. This is run and owned by the forth generation family. The building is steeped in history and is built next to the canal side and locks. The bliss worth tunnel is approximately 400 MTRS along the tow path,a lovely walk.Canal boat trips run from the pub to the entrance of the tunnel and back. The is a museum on site well worth a visit as is the whole area.a good days outing.

Beautiful old building with great views of the grand union canal, just a shame about the business itself. We ordered food and specified no mayo on burger. When the food arrived I had some chips with mayo on, mayo specs all over the plate & a soggy bun because it had...you guessed it mayo. But it looks like they tried to scrape it off hense the mess all over the plate. Another member of our party ordered a baked potato which was initially enjoyed until a couple of hours later, when she had to run to the toilet. She spent the remainder of the evening in bed unable to eat or drink. Also the old boy that served us seemed annoyed with the time we took to choose our meals, then when we relocated to an outside table & I went to inform him, he was sat in the bar drinking a pint and the disguist he held for me because I interrupted him for 15 seconds was obvious. As a final note, the beer was luke warm too. I would not reccomend this pub. Don't be fooled by the charming building or location, it loses all the charm as soon as you walk through the front door.

We booked for Sunday lunch today at The Woodward Restaurant. I have eaten several times at The Boat Inn and it has always been very nice. Today, Sunday Lunch was amazing. Three of us had the Slow roast beef which just melted in your mouth. The Lamb was also excellent as was the fish. Plenty of well cooked tasty vegetables also. The starters and the desserts were all delicious too. It's very good value for money. One of the party said it was the best roast they had eaten for a long time and I will second that. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Great food in a comfortable restaurant in a lovely picturesque setting. What's not to like? We will most definitely be returning. Thankyou.

Group of 8 of us (two families with small children) turned up without a reservation for an early lunch on a rainy Friday. They were able to accommodate us, and despite what I thought was an initially frosty reception (probably because we were 8, with kids and no reservation!!), service was friendly and quick. The lady at the bar was really lovely with our kids. The food we all had was tasty, the kids loved their dessert, and it offered good value for money. I'd certainly go back if we were in the area again. Recommended!
