Fooood was amazing. Did not leave a mouthful on the plate. Smothered chicken was the best. A few dishes I'm looking forward to trying, so will definitely be back soon

Went here for the first time, booked in advance online. Restaurant was lovely staff very friendly and polite. Unlimited cooked and continental breakfasts. Also as much juice, tea and coffee. Downfall was as food is served to order our breakfasts came served luke warm, sausages were not cooked on all sides, bacon over done. Food presentation was nice, but didn't enjoy the breakfast it as it wasnt hot enough and didn't ask for any more. Also there wasn't a sufficient supply of pancakes everytime my son went up to the continental counter there wasn't any pancakes. Usually we would have another plate of breakfast items but due to temperature served we didn't bother. Kids eat free think with every paying adult

Told the waitress i had an allergy to burger sauce while placing my order. My burger came out with the burger sauce on. Kindly asked for a replacement due to my allergy. The same burger was brought back out with the sauce scraped off. Remits of sauce was still plastered on the burger. This is a health and safety risk. Extremely unhappy about this. If you have an allergy, avoid this place.

Went for Sunday lunch here, was really good food was reasonable price. The Sunday roast was a good size for the standard meal we also had pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese as well which could have easily been split between me ans my partner. Starter main pudding about £75 which I thought was really good. Well worth a visit and the normal menu looked goof and reasonably priced also.

Had a birthday party meal here for 14 adults. Food was very good though only one choice of carvery meat available. Service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We all had a great time and reasonably priced.

Charlotte was our waitress on the day, she was very polite and courteous throughout. 3 members of staff asked us if everything was to our satisfaction. Have been going for Sunday lunch here for over 2 years and never had a bad experience.

Very friendly and helpful staff, we had a Bostin time with our table waitress joining in with our fun and jokes. Thank you for a Bostin time. The food was very tasty and hot.

The place looks very nice and the service was very good. I really liked the ambiance. Coming to food, the vegan burger I had was not bad, but they could really do with more vegan and vegetarian options.

The menu is rubbish, the food is bland, tasteless and disgusting and service is sloooooooww. But on a more positive note the waitress was lovely.

Went here to celebrate my mom's birthday. Party of X4 children & X4 adults. Harrison, our waiter was very attentive, friendly & paid attention to the specific details we requested with each meal. Each meal was served correctly, everyone reported their food was delicious & a lovely atmosphere in there this evening!

Got meal vouchers for our evening meal and breakfast because we are staying at the Premier Inn next door (so paid in advance). The menu looked amazing in the hotel room and the delicious smell wafting through the door certainly had our taste buds dreaming. However that is where the dream ends. Staff wandering around aimlessly and not paying any attention to guests. Table booked for 7, and we arrived early to have drinks at the bar. We were seated a little early yet half an hour past before order taken, and a further 10 minutes before we even got our drinks. 19.50 and my husband has just had to chase the order. This is totally unacceptable and to be honest if it hadn't already been paid for I would be telling the staff to poke it. That said when our smothered platter finally arrived it was delicious albeit minus the coleslaw and BBQ dip. Puddings ordered, came a lot quicker than the mains and we're okay. Not going to be rushing back 😒

Lovely family meal for my daughters 18th. Had a great time, fantastic value and our server Megan was 1st class. Happy, bubbly and made sure we were all happy with everything and got what we needed. Thank you Megan 😊

Went for a family meal. Food was very basic to say the least but more importantly the staff were awful. A Friday night, only one staff member working behind the bar who didn’t even know how to make the cocktails on the menu literally waiting nearly 30 minutes for one drink. The waitress in charge of our table did not come over at all to cater for our table in the correct manner, our guests had to go to the bar to order food. Didn’t even get steak knives for our steak dinners. A couple of the female staff are also very rude and have no customer service skills whatsoever also very confrontational when there was no need. Avoid this place, there’s plenty nicer placer to enjoy than this. Very disappointed.

Super environment. Warm and welcoming ! Food well prepared and hot when served. Very nice staff, bit overworked but considering time of year (December), understandable ! One negative - nobody manning front desk by door. Waited for someone to talk to for pre-booked seating . Everyone is busy, I'm guessing. Only a vert minor irritant on an otherwise very pleasant evening.

Visited only because I'm working away and its next to the Premier Inn. Like every other Whitbread chain, its very understaffed! Its obvious that poorly trained staff hide behind bars/staff areas, leaving ONE senior staff member trying to fill in all the gaps. When will they realise that great staff will bring in customers. Food is fine, its a limited menu, the kitchen staff just repeat the same thing day in day out. As for atmosphere well, as I was on my own they stuck me on isolated booth on my own. How depressing to be placed on a table where you feel like you are in an 80s office cubical. I don't want to be reminded of work when I've finished work. If you going to force customers into small cubicles, learn from the Japanese! I also made the mistake of looking up, not only can't Whitbread can't hire enough bar staff but they can't even check on basic house keeping. Never seen so many spider webs on a wall! OVERALL- Food: Standard Staff: Good but need more Atmosphere: people who created it, probably would never set foot in here.

Visited tonight Sunday have been a few times before and food and service have been fine. Tonight can't say the same service was fine except for lack of communication about items not available on the menu. Ordered Fish and chips which arrived without tartar sauce small matter but was a factor in my choice. Unfortunately the fish was pretty tasteless and overly greasy made the waitress aware who said would pass on my comments. We then decide on 3 puddings to be told all we're sold out be nice to know at start of evening. And special thank you to the manager for totally ignoring my complaint. Definitely won't be returning

Asked them to replace burnt sausages but the manager tried to gaslight us instead telling us it’s normal for char grilled 😂 you can judge the picture yourself. Everything else was average.

Only came here because Half Penny Farm was rammed and there was a 45 minute wait. I can see now the reason for this is because it is the only decent pub for miles. The main issue I have is the menu. Overpriced, time limit on the saver menu, stupid headings, no Sunday dinner BECAUSE THEY SERVE IT EVERYDAY BUT SUNDAY. (Lots of problems here.) The atmosphere was dead. It was clearly understaffed. The bacon was burnt. The lady who served us got our order wrong and I'm 100000% certain served me a full sugar coke when I asked for a diet. (May seem like an overreaction to remember this but I am deliberately avoiding sugar drinks because of my diabetes.) What else... Bland decor, sticky tables, incompetent staff. Do better. This is only not a 1 star because the staff were mostly nice. I honestly feel bad for the servers because they seem like they haven't had efficient training. This is likely to be a management problem and it's a shame because all these things are easily preventable.

Have eaten here a few times and I've never had a bad meal. The breakfast is amazing and also very good value for money. The lunchtime menu is also good, not a great deal of choice, but I do think that's probably a good thing and there is definitely enough to choose from. The staff have always been great and the service excellent. I would highly recommend

Service wasn't very good. It took nearly an hour to bring out the food and it was mostly empty aswell. The food was nice but they had lots things on menu unavailable. Staff were polite but they seemed shorted staffed.

My partner and I were staying in Travel Lodge as attending a family event. After a 6 hour road trip, we were in need of a scrumptious light lunch and decent cup of coffee. We appeared to be restricted for eating options so this was a wild card! Ordinarily, we research where we eat however, we were kindly surprised by outstanding service from the most lovely Hannah, who greeted us at the door, led us to preferred table (we like to hideaway in the corner) and guided us through meal.options that were gluten free. Hannah was professional, warm, kind, knowledgeable allergens, and most importantly did not make us feel hurried. The coffee and teas were delicious (we had multiple as were in need of hydrating!). Hannah, even returned to the table with a handwritten note of local Indian restaurants as we had mentioned that we were hoping to indulge in a take-away for supper however we were unsure which restaurant to call. Hannah, specifically said, it was the names of the most local restaurants she had heard people speak well of and a team effort however encouraged us to Google them, so we were not disappointed! We were overwhelmingly impressed with the service from start to finish and, on that basis returned for breakfast the following morning rather than go into the city for a quirky alternative ! Again, we had a beautiful dining experience, and was welcomed by Hannah and served by Jess. What a wonderful team Lakeside Cookhouse have! This is so rare. We do hope that they are appreciated and commended on their outstanding customer services. Jess was attentive and made sure our special dietary needs were accommodated, without any trouble. The breakfasts were delicious (especially the poached eggs!). We did not need to top up on all the extra options available from the buffet as we felt appropriately stuffed!!! Thank you so much Hannah and Jess and for your beautiful act of kindness of giving us one breakfast for free! We appreciate this is a rare occurrence and one, we certainly didn't expect! We will be back for breakfast this morning, before we journey home. AND, yes, we highly recommend The Cookhouse for outstanding service and scrumptious breakfasts! We are yet to experience their fish and chips supper. We shall reserve this for our next visit !!

After searching now for many months for a place that serves a decent Sunday roast, we've finally found it. From the ease of booking and the little reminder the evening before (nice touch that 😊) to the waitress service and finally the meal, all were 100% spot on. I'd give the cookhouse 5 stars all day long. To the Management..... the staff are a credit to your leadership. Please keep it up and don't change a thing. 👍

The Lakeside is OK, nice and clean with friendly staff. However no nice vegan options, there are a couple but your best off elsewhere if your a vegetarian or vegan. I found the Christmas fair option nasty, couldn't eat it. Unfortunate as it is a nice pub with a good atmosphere.

Scrumpy food. Promt but still as fresh as expected. Kids demolished what was on their plates and were eager for seconds. The staff were fantastic, literally went above and beyond for us. We arrived early and asked for a birthday cake reveal, which they did, no questions asked. They were brilliant. Always at hand, polite and kind. Thankyou to all on shift. We couldn't have asked for a better 'fill me up' and experience if you will x
