Returned to this pub after some bad experiences and so glad we did. The food was lovely and great selection on the menu. It has changed management and Beth made us feel we were back at home from the moment we entered. I recommend anyone to take a detour off the motorway and try this pub out. We wish Beth and her team every success and we will be back soon with friends.

Love this place! This was our third time here and the food is always great. We had burgers and chicken & waffles this time and everything was good! The atmosphere and decor is awesome and there’s plenty of parking.

I visited The Empress of Blandings on Thursday 21 November 2019 in the evening, a weekday during term time. I was with two other people. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place. I parked in the pub car park right outside - parking was easy. The restaurant comprises of one fairly large sized main dining area with plenty of tables with full table service. The team were very friendly and attentive and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and enjoyed the experience. I enjoyed the house burger for my main course with a side order of onion rings and a sticky toffee pudding for my dessert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was good value for money, I paid around £30 for two courses and three drinks including a hot chocolate. Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would visit again.

Took a long chilly walk for a drink and a bite to eat. It was worth it. Bar/waiting staff were polite and prompt. Food was fresh and tasty.

Absolutely amazing meal probably one of the nicest pub meals I've ever had top marks to the chef and the staff done an excellent job

It is an excellent pub with amazing food and beer. I especially enjoyed the chicken with haggis and washed down with a pint of Tanglefoot. 🍺

Feeling a little mixed on my thought on boxing day. On one hand the food was AMAZING all 12 meals looked delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. Well done to the kitchen team!! On the other hand the front of house staff were miserable, no warm welcome, had to remove our own menus from table, the 'boxing day menu ' that appears on Facebook wasn't offered to us at all, no one came to clear glasses or offer us a 2nd drink so instead we had to go to bar ourselves, no check back to see if we were enjoying our meal - I found the service a complete let down . If the service and atmosphere improves combined with the already fab food it could be a fantastic pub.

Went here for dinner. Big car park, easy to find off the main road. Seated quickly, service was reasonably timed, not quick but not slow. Food was really nice considering wasn't too expensive.

Booked a table last weekend to be told it won't be a Hall and Woodhouse from Monday but deceided to book anywhere and see, wasn't disappointed. New owners and new menu, food was good, large portion, fair prices, had a couple of hiccups but sorted quickly. For the first lunch on the first Saturday was good.

Nice pub with nice staff. Led to beleive it will be under new management from next month. As you might guess, it has a PG Wodehouse theme. The food is OK, but the steak is massively overpriced for what you get. I will revisit again, but I feel there are better out there offering more value for money.

A lovely pub, spacious and clean. Good choice of food for adults and a decent children's menu. The starters were generous, we had a baked cheese and whitebait. The lamb was really good and the vegan aubergine curry was fine.

First time at the Empress of Blandings. Booked a table for 4 people for Sunday lunch. Very impressed by the whole experience. Staff very friendly and attentive. The quality of food was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere. Exceeded my expectations. Will be back again. Lovely to have such a nice pub/restaurant local. Cannot believe not attended before even after being told it's good ! Well it's very good

Fab pub, scattered with literature and anecdotes. Friendly staff, nice decor, nice beer garden, good car park. Visited twice over the bank holiday weekend and they were accommodating to our family on both instances. Lovely salads

We came across this place by accident or should I say fate, because WOW! Not only are they extremely dog friendly for our fur baby, the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. And then there is the food. The food that came out is beyond the expectations that the prices would reflect. In my opinion the food that we had is Michelin star quality and incredible value for the money. Thank you to both front of house staff and the chefs, you really made a dreary wet October evening an enjoyable event.

Can't say for food as we didn't have any, but service was quick and friendly, new management seem to be focused on making this a good place to be. Always liked this spot so hopefully all is well, will update after we go for a meal. Sunday's have Roast & Full menu which is nice as sometime you just don't fancy a roast, and they have music in the evening on a Sunday which would be nice at this venue.

Where do I start? If I could give 6 out of 5 stars that would help. We stopped for lunch on the way to Devon just expecting the usual choices. First we had a really cheerful greeting and shown to a table of our choice. Then were handed excellent and extensive menus. The service was quick and the food was amazing! This pub has now become our reference stop-off for any trips south west. It has a large car park and many tables so the odds of getting in are good. I was told it's under new ownership so I wish them every success. We'll be back.

Table of 4 booked for 18:30 on 29th December. Incredibly quiet, we were I think group 1 of no more than 6 eating... 😳 A couple of groups just enjoying drinks and that was it. Food was very good & enjoyed the visit, just very suprised on how busy (or lack of) it was.....

Can’t rate our meal highly enough. Vegetables tasted so fresh and cooked to perfection, a proper pie with mash and gravy, pudding was equally yummy, by far the best pub grub I’ve had in a very long time! And if you’re gluten free you will be spoiled for choice, a rarity in any eating establishment !

We found this pub after our car took a detour on our journey home and we decided to stop! We are very glad we did it was stunning inside! The selection of food was very wide for adults and children and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. It was quiet and we were served very quickly. Devine food and very well priced for the amount you get. We wished we could have stayed for pudding but I would definitely think this pub is well worth the 1 hour 15 min journey from home to visit again!

The food was delicious and the staff were excellent: very friendly, great service. Definitely value for money. There was a wide variety of different meals and is vegan friendly. This great pub is a definite recommendation.

Blandings has always been one of our favourite places to eat. Yesterday was the first time since new management. We we’re very disappointed with the menu. It was very uninspiring and considering that we thought slightly overpriced. The food was well cooked and the staff friendly and helpful, we just need a more inspired menu with more choices.

A lovely pub with flag stone floors and wooden beams. Beth and her team gave us a really warm welcome. The food was well presented and really nice ,they haven't been there long and I truly hope they do well.

We have been coming to the E of B for a few years now and today didn't disappoint. The decor is amazing and really gets you in the Christmas mood. The staff were all very welcoming and the food as always was fresh hot, tasty and plentiful. Social distancing was not a problem as the pub was empty. Such a shame as it is a lovely place to meet up with friends. It didn't worry us as we were able to have a leisurely lunch and sit and chat for a few hours. Will definitely not be leaving it another year to visit. I would recommend you visit and find out for yourselves.

Nice venue for a party. Friendly staff. Clean. Good Car Park. A secret function room in heaven (lot's of stairs to carry gear up lol). Pictures attached show the blank canvas and how I transformed it with themed sound and lighting. DJ Ricky Gold

Great food and very cheerful helpful service. All covid res adhered to and we were able to choose a table. If you have the flat iron steak ours came very thick and quite rare. But beautifully tender and very tasty.

Went on Saturday for a birthday meal out. We had the best time and were served by a chap with a great sense of humour (didn't catch his name but he had just moved down from Cornwall). He kept us entertained all night - hats off to him. Try the homemade scotch egg - soft yolk and delicious. The steak frites was also a stand out dish. We have already discussed coming back for Sunday lunch one weekend soon. Keep up the great standards everyone!

Today was the first Christmas Day I haven't cooked for well over 3 decades and we went to The Empress Of Blandings!! It was amazing. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The staff were absolutely brilliant I can't rate them high enough. The pub had been decorated very tastefully and there was festive music playing in the background so at least you could still talk to each other. I would recommend this to anyone. The whole experience was wonderful. Thank you ALL so much and I hope you got to have a great Christmas yourselves. Merry Christmas 🎄🥂

Worth leaving the M27 for! Fantastic food, cosy and clean pub with nice garden, good staff, good seating, good ales, interesting decor (also apparently recent change of management, if that makes a difference/you are a local). Had broccoli & stilton soup, whitebait and Duck salad. All delicious, good value, good portions.

Lovely little spot, beautiful settings. Lovely cheerful staff and brilliant food. Asked the owner (only resenting taken over) if he could do me a cocktail and he knocked up an amazing raspberry moheto and expresso martini, all from scratch and they were the best I’ve had. We only stopped in for a bite while in the area and so glad we did, left 3 hours later full and content. Highly recommend.
