Ate there after visiting a nearby nature reserve. Probably the weirdest fish and chips of my life. Dry fibrous chewy fish in a coating that was near impossible to crack with a knife and felt like day old croutons in the mouth. I could not eat most of it. And I am not someone who leaves food on the plate, even if tasteless. No one came to ask the customary "is everything okay?" either so I couldn't even ask for another thing. Just left after eating the chips, which were good to be fair. But not worth another visit.

Absolutely fantastic food cooked perfectly. The wine was like nectar. The staff clearly spoken helpful and polite. Very enjoyable experience... Reminded me of the eighties!! It's high quality and definitely will go there again for a special treat or just fantastic Sunday roast. Well done!

Comfortable well appointed pub/ Hotel. Spacious, comfortable room with flat screen TV. Heating control in the room which is always preferable. Staff friendly and efficient. Good quality food at reasonable price but the menu a little restricted. Real ales on offer as well as keg beers and lager.

I spent a night here over Easter. Lovely hotel with excellent food. The room was clean and very comfortable. At first i was disappointed that there wasn’t a shower but a shower wouldn’t be in line with the style of the hotel. So I thoroughly enjoyed a long soak in the bath. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Great veggie breakfast too.

Maybe I'm either very lucky or I'm pretty spot on at choosing hotels. From courtesy calls prior to my visit to the incredibly helpful staff to the food. Oh my god the food. The loft room we chose was utterly stunning and incredibly clean. A just amazing mix of old world beams and modern convenience. The wet room was complete with a waterfall shower that I never wanted to get out of. The staff couldn't do enough to help whilst giving space and making us feel very relaxed. They were all without exception fantastic. If you want to know how a hotel should be run from a service point of view this is pretty much it. We booked in late and in the morning my partner was asked how her mum's birthday celebrations had gone. I mentioned it briefly 3 or 4 days before when discussing our arrival time. That's the attention to detail. The included breakfast was stunning and cooked to perfection. We decided to eat in the restaurant in the evening. Not cheap, but great value if you appreciate the idea that you get what you pay for. This was fine dining and without doubt the one of the best dining experiences I've had. Full stop. And I've eaten at some top restaurants. If you plan to stay evan vaguely within the catchment area of this place please do stay here. I wouldn't want anyone to miss the chance of a special experience like this. I couldn't recommend this hotel more highly. Based on my experience, if you stay here you're in incredibly good hands.

Lovely food, friendly service. Good selection of drinks. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is by the end of the Sunday lunch shift the team seem to have got a bit tired and the service became a bit slower, nothing too terrible but a few missing drinks that had to be re-ordered. However the quality and overall atmosphere more than made up for it.

We were greeted with a smile from the manageress and the waitresses were all charming. The manageress implied we would need to eat quickly because they were very busy, but they did not appear to be especially busy. Many tables were reserved but not ours. Food could have arrived a bit quicker and we had mixed feelings about the flavours and presentation. The meat of my burger was rather bland and the confusing array of toppings with conflicting flavours didnt make up for it.

4 of us ate here on Wednesday 17th August. My husband and myself were very disappointed with the food. Portions were small and at 23.50 for a meagre piece of hake with no accompanying potatoes or vegetables, that is pretty steep even by our standards (Netherlands). The cheesecake with some rubbery fruit was poor. 2 glasses of the Mowbarton . at 17.50 for 2 flutes is pretty hefty too. To cap it all a hefty service charge was added without my asking - discretionary? Not pleased.. Great company. Lovely to see our friends after 3 years.

We had dinner here a few days ago on the recommendation of some fellow travellers. They proved to be spot on with their judgement. We enjoyed a prr dinner drink at the bar which was delightful. The bar was high-end English Pub and plenty of locals were enjoying the evening over a drink. We moved to the dining room to enjoy a well presented and served meal and enjoyed a few glasses of Bordeaux. The ambience was modern and the decor was chic. An evening we will remember. Highly recommended.

Very nice restaurant. We had the ribs with mash and the potatoe roist. It is like an omelette with avocado an tomato, really tasty. The ribs with mash were authentic and amazing. The meat was super tender and the flavour plus the ox in the centre was outstanding. The place is really nice, it has a parking and also a terrace for the sunny days. The people are efficient and friendly. It is really recommended.

Unknown about the rooms as we only ate there for Sunday roast. The roast was really nice and nothing over or undercooked. Would go again as the service is also very good and quick.

One of the best restaurants in Somerset. I went for the rib and ox pie and my gf had the potato rosti. Both dishes were well presented and came out the kitchen in no time. They have a good decoration and well lit environment. Food is not cheap but its high quality makes it worth it. The outside appearance of this place does not make justice to the interior.

We had food in the Swan's restaurant over the weekend. The pub area is absolutely gorgeous - beautifully decorated, cosy and comfortable, with a log fire to top it off. We had a burger and the open steak sandwich, both were delicious, if very much on the small side. That plus two small cokes was £35, which we thought was quite expensive. Not much in the way of vegan, vegetarian, dairy or gluten free options, though the waitress did a fantastic job of knowing which ingredients were in the dishes and how best to accommodate us with certains intolerances. The pub area is also dog friendly, which is great. Would definitely recommend and look forward to going back :)

Had 3 delicious courses of vegan food. Really appreciate a chef who seems to have put some thought and effort into the vegan options and not just served a mushroom in a bun followed by sorbet. Sadly only here on holiday, but will definitely return if I'm in the area again. Thank you!

Restaurant/pub really not worth the price. Ate in the restaurant in the evening and was extremely disappointed. Several people in our group had to send food back because it was cold in the middle (not lukewarm but stone cold) and the (27 pound) steak was very tough. The service was slow and it seemed like there weren't enough waitresses (but both of them were very polite and helpful). Seems like they are serving lacklustre food (reheated in the microwave?) at HUGE prices for no reason. I don't usually write reviews but we were there to celebrate an occasion that evening and were met with overpriced food being passed off as good quality- when really we should have gone to a cheaper gastropub (and would have had a far better experience). We received no discounts or explanations for the cold food (more than 3 dishes of it) even after the shepherds' pie was STILL cold after having been taken to be reheated. Unless several of the chefs were having a medical emergency that evening there seems to be absolutely no excuse for the quality of the food they were serving to have been as laughably bad as it was. As a student I rarely spend this amount of money on a meal and am painfully regretting having done so here, with my family and my friend's family present.

We loved staying and eating here. We used it as a stopover to Cornwall with the dog. The staff are super friendly, the food was delicious, the village is lovely and we all slept well. That more can you ask for.

Mellow ambience and relaxed- prices justify the quality of the food and drink, alcoholic or not. On the day I was there was a pop up bakery and the produce didn't disappoint The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. One of my tests of a place is the quality of the rest rooms which were classy, clean and maintained. Highly recommend - my local place of choice for business or social.

A great find only an hour . We had lunch in the bar area but there is also a dining room. Good range on the menu, particularly the Dhal. Lovely fish too. We will book again and perhaps stay a night!

We have just returned from an overnight stay. We were greeted with smiles and happiness from the staff. The hotel was wonderfully warm throughout on a cold, wet day in November. We were checked in quickly and taken to our room. Room 4. A medium double, roll top bath, underfloor heating, large soft white fluffy towels, really nice Bramley toiletries, bamboo toothbrush/toothpaste, beautiful king sized bed, crisp, super white soft bedlinen, dog friendly and spacious. Tea/coffee/water, biscuits etc. Lovely atmosphere throughout and a roaring fire in the pub dining area. Food was delicious. Nice menu. Service was faultless. A really happy buzzing feel. Looking around at other guests everyone was relaxed and enjoying their evening. A nice restaurant area, lovely long bar, snug, pub restaurant and casual seating, all dog friendly except for the restaurant. Comfortable seating. A peaceful night's sleep. Very comfortable bed and a a selection of pillows! Breakfast was varied, cooked to order. The hotel was spotlessly clean, lovely lighting, warm, nice furnishings and such a happy, cheerful vibe. Very nice garden, which I am sure would be wonderful to relax in during the warmer months. Plenty of parking. Location was perfectly central for a potter around Wedmore. We can't wait to return. Eat well, felt relaxed and slept like a log .....

Another delicious meal in the Swan tonight Friday, pub was buzzing, a brilliant atmosphere. Excellent service from our waitress Freya, we had a really enjoyable experience, thank you to all the staff.

Nice pub & restaurant. Celebratory dinner went well and food was reasonably good. Nice and efficient service. Relatively small quiet atmosphere. Where the Swan is located is a bit to a trek but nice place to visit if in Bridgwater side or on the levels.

Stayed a couple of nights in their lovely loft room. It was a much needed break away from our busy lifestyle. Dogs can stay too! Food is gorgeous! Their Roast dinners on a Sunday are so good!

Stunning Sunday roasts! Pork belly was absolutely delicious, tender and melt in your mouth. The crackling was crispy and perfect. The chicken roast was also absolutely delicious, with all the trimmings. We asked for extra gravy as not enough when first served, but this was no problem. My pictures don’t do the food justice. We had no room for desert as the roast was enough! Staff all very friendly and great service. This was our first time visiting the Swan and we’ll absolutely be back!

Great pub, amazing food, lovely ambiance and lovely people!! We came here after a long walk with three dogs and were welcomed warmly, led to a table in front of the fire and given fantastic service and a delicious menu to choose from. We had the brunch menu and it did not disappoint! I was so impressed with the attention to detail from the staff, even so far as giving each of our dogs treat in age order! Nice ambient music played, lovely mellow vibe, freshly baked goods on the bar.. just overall a fantastic experience, this pub has really nailed everything you’d want from a country pub!

Room at first glance was good but.... Bed was too big for the room bearly 40cm of floor space. Lighting in the room was about as bright as a single candle. Good size bath but floor grout was black in places which becomes very obvious and some peeling paint on walls. Sadly with a little attention to detail this could be a 5 star room. Food is excellent quality but very small portions. Definitely some of the best beef I've had all year. Bar now this is where things get interesting. We ordered the same round of drinks 3 times and each time we go a different price...! ! ! WHY...??? OVERALL. Fantastic location, nice room just needs a few light touches, good food but watch out for the prices.

We have only just finished our lunch, but I wanted to review The Swan immediately! We live in the village and at times The Swan is like a second home as I come here for coffee/lunch with my baby or to meet friends. My Dad is 70 today, and weeks ago, whilst trying to organise a special lunch for him, he was adamant he didn't want to go too far as he has a medical condition that means he often struggles with food and being in pain afterwards. We booked with the Swan and emailed them to explain that he has very particular taste due to his limitations as part of his medical condition. The Swan could not have been more helpful, accomodating and didn't hesitate to say "yes" to accepting our booking despite asking for a completely bespoke dish for him. It has been years since my Dad has enjoyed a lunch out and today, on his 70th birthday he ate a lunch he said was "10/10". Perfect. The chef also accommodated my dietary needs by changing the sauce to my lunch. All of the food was perfectly executed with an artistic flair. The friendliest staff who made us feel comfortable with three babies and their demands too! I can't thank the chef and the staff team enough for their accomodation of our needs to make our special day so excellent. We look forward to returning and can't recommend The Swan enough!

Had a superb lunch. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was innovative and flavours so well matched. All stunning - the chefs clearly know what they're doing.

Very nice food, with decent portion sizes. Interesting menu, with things even we hadn't heard of. Well presented food with welcoming, friendly staff and beautiful decor.

Lovely place to spend a Birthday lunch with my wife. Service was friendly and helpful, if you are willing to sit outside which is very nice on a Summers day, it's dog friendly too. Great choice of menu, l had the Burger my go to! Or a pie but no pie! The sandwiches looked interesting so when we return we are tempted. I had a Chocolate Fondant and l think it was a bit of a challenge to get an ozz out of something so tiny and certainly not big enough to share maybe that's the idea. As usual parking is not easy so find the free car park within walking distance if it does not cramp your style.

Checks all the boxes for lunch. Friendly, attentive service, good food and a great pint. Right-sized, very tasty sausage and mash with delicious greens and gravy. Well-kept Cheddar Ales Potholer to accompany. A pleasant place to enjoy a quiet meal.

Taken there for Mother's Day lunch. Attendance and service excellent. Food well presented tasted good but plate and food could have been hotter which would have made it perfect. Pudding was just enough and really delicious. Chocolate fondant with ice cream. Can't comment on value as my son was paying. It was a lovely experience.

Great service and really nice food. They had a sign up saying that they are short staffed so please bear with them but you wouldn’t actually notice. Very clean and really nice garden. Food is very fairly priced considering how good it is.

Visited on Sunday with family for a Sunday lunch. The Swan is a beautiful building with a lovely relaxed atmosphere and decor. It was raining when we visited but the garden looked lovely so perfect when the weather starts to warm up. The staff were welcoming and polite. We ordered Sunday lunches all round including the beef, chicken and pork. The meats were lovely but unfortunately everything else that came with had no flavour. We ordered the leek and cauliflower cheese which were just water. We did try to speak to staff who didn't seem overly bothered. Would we go back - unfortunately not.

😠 What has happened to Table 8? I have sold this restaurant to friends for years. My husband and I went in today to be greeted by new staff who evidently do not understand service etiquette.
