Stayed here for three nights while I was working in the area. This is a really nice country pub, the rooms are well appointed and really comfortable. The shower is excellent and powerful. The breakfast was out of this world with flavour and the evening meals were tip top too. I will definitely be staying here in the future when I’m back down here.

Great! Welcoming exterior, great rooms, warm and helpful staff. We ate dinner outside and breakfast inside -enjoyed both very much! With an orthopedic boot due to a sprained ankle the accessible bathroom allowed taking a real shower which was very refreshing (an additional small tap by the side of the shower chair would have been helpful, as well as a bathtub hose).

This place was great. The staff were friendly and professional. All the staff appeared well trained and understood the visitors' needs ( I was solo, so I was observing). The room was a good size and had everything needed (cafetiere was a bit knackered!!) with good light, mirrors, and usable hairdryer. Good varied menu in the restaurant and what's more, what I ate was tasty. I would stay again.

To be fair, this is a very picturesque pub on the outskirts of Bridgewater, nicely appointed inside with plenty of parking. I can't comment on the rooms, as we only eat in there. Sadly, that's where the good stuff ends, on arrival our drinks order was taken, I ordered a Coke and was told they do Pepsi, that's fine, almost the same, it then stated as long as it's proper Pepsi, to be told they only do Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max. Why would a proper pub not sell proper Pepsi, just the stuff laced with aspartame, which I have severe reactions to. More to the point, why is a pub making the no sugar decisions for me? Frankly, had I not been with a colleague, I'd have gone elsewhere. We sat down, with my glass of tap water, and looked at the menu. All very nice sounding if a little pretentious. I ordered from the specials board, a Korean Chicken burger. Generally you'll expect a chicken burger to be made with chicken breast unless otherwise stated, it had a funny taste and the meat was very brown, so I'm going to assume it was thigh meat, bit breast, I left some of it as it simply didn't taste good. I needed to have something to take the taste away, so I had the chocolate brownie with black cherry sorbet, which I will say was very nice, but I should hole so for £7.75 for a thin sliver of brownie and one scoop of sorbet. Lovely looking place that sadly doesn't live up to it's potential. service was pretty good being fair to all there on the night. These chain pubs that make decisions to scrap proper Coke and Pepsi need to give their heads a wobble. Don't think we'll be back.

Andy was very helpful changed rooms so we had them next to each other, rooms were of a good size and clean as was the bathrooms. Breakfast we had full English with tea coffee and juice, it would have been nice to have cereal's and fruit available but over all very happy with our visit.

I stumbled across this pub by chance this lunchtime, when in the area. I hadn’t booked but that wasn’t a problem. A cheerful and friendly welcome by all the staff, polite & helpful. Good choices on the lunch menu. I went with the fish finger brioche burger and thin cut skin-on fries, all piping hot. Two crispy, tasty chunks of fish - absolutely delicious! Such a pleasant change to have great customer service AND good. hot food. Also, as a solo female it’s always great to find a welcoming, comfortable place to eat. Looking forward to trying their Sunday Roast in future when friends or family can join me. Definitely somewhere I would hope to return to.

Can't rate the rooms as didn't stay only had lunch. Absolutely beautiful food. Would highly recommend. Service was fantastic everyone was polite and the nice thing was you were left alone to eat your food and not bothered every 2 minutes. Will definitely 100% be coming back. Thank you to all the staff for a pleasant visit x

Our group of three couples loved our one night stay here. We had a fantastic dinner in the restaurant and a delicious breakfast the next day. Plenty of vege and vegan options and a great drinks menu (including decaf coffee yay). Rooms were very well appointed and comfortable. And very reasonably priced. All staff friendly, competent, welcoming, efficient. Thanks for a wonderful time!

Delicious fish cakes and the kids portions were generous. Found the gammon a bit over cooked… and service was a bit slow to notice our table was ready to order - we were hungry. Great menu selection though, we will be back

Not been since the venue change hands. A friend and I came for a weekday early evening meal. There were other tables in as well, so we weren't the only ones. We had a main and pudding. Both courses were really nice and very well presented. The service we recieved was really good and all the staff were very attentive. We would return again.

We consider The Bower to be our local. Great welcoming staff without exception and never disappointed by the food. I had the duck pearl barley risotto special and it was delicious. Good selection of wines. The dogs love visiting too.

Room was very nice but lacking storage had to get clothes out of suitcase when required a chest of drawers would have been handy, meals good but no fresh vegetables or alternative to chips, last evening ordered a well done steak which turned up rare with blood on the plate which I returned the replacement was good. Breakfast was OK but every morning the kitchen was out of something the last breakfast of our stay was spot on best of the week. Sorry for the negative points but still enjoyed our stay

An idyllic treasure is indeed Bower Inn. If one were to rate only the restaurant, it would have earned its 5 stars. Both the dinner and the included breakfast were excellent. For the wide variation in design and furnishings between two room categories, I unfortunately have to deduct 1 star. While the luxury room is decorated with love for detail, artistic and cosy, the so-called the so-called Cozy Room seems rather meagre. The bed here was definitely too narrow for two people.

I booked a table at the restaurant. The booking system itself was easy to navigate and use. Upon arriving the staff were very friendly and approachable. The restaurant has a lovely warm country feel and vibe. The food was amazing and I do plan on returning again but only if my amazing, sophisticated and extremely stunning tinder date agrees.

We booked a table here whilst in the area to celebrate my husband’s birthday (which I mentioned on the booking). Usually when I book a table elsewhere for this kind of occasion, the staff make an effort to acknowledge it. Nobody made any mention of it and when I asked a staff member if anything special could be done she said she would check with a supervisor. The supervisor told me they don’t usually do anything special for birthdays but would bring him a brownie dessert. We ordered dessert and coffee but no brownie was forthcoming so we paid and left. I wish I had booked somewhere else now. Aside from this the service was a little slow but the food was lovely, with some kind of acknowledgment of the birthday this would be a solid 5 stars!

Together with my colleagues, we enjoyed an excellent meal at the Bower Inn on Tuesday night, 19 July. Good varied menu, delicious food served promptly, cheerfully and courteously by Sheldon - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a very pleasant evening.

We just stayed here as I had a 3 day course near by. We very much enjoyed our stay. The staff and couple who ran the place were super friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. I was really impressed with the perfectly cooked and tasteful english breakfast that I had 3 times, whilst my partner loved the Turkish breakfast! We ate dinner here on two of the nights and they were both great. Loved the room. 100% recommend. If in the area again will definitely stay again

Stayed for 4 nights. Our son lives in Bridgwater and this was a spur of the moment visit so our choice of rooms was limited. Apart from it being up some steep stairs we were pleased with it. (Both in our late 70s) The breakfasts were very nice. Only negative was bread. I would’ve liked a choice of wholemeal bread but was told there was only sourdough. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will probably stay again on our next visit but book earlier for a ground floor room.

We were welcomed from the start and our room was delightful. The food was absolutely excellent and as a vegan, I was very well catered for. The staff couldn’t have been nicer! We will come again !

Stopped for lunch again, travelling back from Devon to Gloucester. Great meal must be the best steak and ale pie we've tasted for a long time. Friendly service even when busy, we will be back next trip to the west!

We went as a family for lunch yesterday - 4 adults, a 4 year old and 2 dogs. We couldn’t have been made more welcome - the staff were all lovely and the food outstanding. Would highly recommend!

Wow! Stopped here by chance on a Sunday. Excellent service and amazing food with great portions. We both had roast. My husband had beef, I had the veggie option. Would highly recommend and since we don’t live locally we are considering a weekend away in this spectacular inn at some point in the future. Sorry no photos, food was too good to wait!

We’ve been staying in hotels for last 22 days and therefore the better hotels stand out as The Bower did. A very happy easy welcome and shown to a room that is instantly relaxing and welcoming. Our bikes quickly safely stored and a delicious meal that was a different positive change standing head and shoulders above so many others.

Went for an evening meal, didn't have a reservation but they were able to find a table for us. Would recommend reservation next time. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Varied menu and lovely food. Butcombe beers worth a try. Will definitely be returning.

Recently stayed at the Bower Inn for a short break while in the area. Rooms were very clean and well maintained and breakfast was of good quality. I did have an issue with a mattress which was quickly resolved without any fuss, which reflects on good management skills. Staff were friendly and helpful and plan to return next year.

A lovely place to stay Comfortable, nicely decorated pub/hotel with great pub food all reasonably priced. Lovely staff. Nice garden area. Lovely bathroom but a personal preference is a stand alone shower rather than a shower over the bath. Thoroughly recommend this place if you need to stay in the area.

Stayed the one night with our pup on the way to Cornwall. Room was very clean and comfortable. Ate in the pub, food was average and probably wouldn't recommend so much. Staff were lovely, Room - 4 star Pub food - 2 star Service - 4 star. 3 out of 5 overall.

I stayed in early November for three nights. Dan and his team offer a fantastic place to stay and eat. Couldn't fault any aspect of my stay with a delicious breakfast every morning. Room very well furnished, quiet and very clean. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. Thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere and the beers good too!

We booked a Sunday lunch for a party of 10, including 3 vegans and a vegetarian. The choice of meals was good and the portions were generous. Staff were polite and attentive, without being obtrusive. We will definitely be visiting again.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Bower Hotel for the nights of 26/27 March 2023. Everything, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, was perfect. Express check-in/check-out was brilliant. Our Comfy room was spotless. The bed was comfy and we slept well after a 200 mile journey. The quality of the linen is top class, All the staff were brilliant. We stayed for dinner on both nights. everything is cooked to order. Although all the staff were excellent, of outstanding note was the service we received from our young waiter, (I believe his name is Tyler), on the night of 27 March. His customer service skills went far beyond those that are normally experienced these days and his inter-personal skills are to be congratulated on. He is an asset to Dan and his very professional, courteous, team. Thank you all for making our break so memorable.

Sunday Roast with my Husband and daughter, staff were very friendly and the service was fast and attentive. Plus the food was very tasty and plentiful. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Unable to comment on the bedrooms as we did not stay the night.

Sadly the room was not at all as pictured. The room we booked had high ceilings, chandeliers, 4 poster beds, standing baths in the bedroom etc. when we arrived we were shown to a room when had none of these. When we spoke to staff we were told the rooms we showed photos off had guests in and there was nothing she could do. I had emailed and messaged the Bower Inn but they have not returned so sadly I have to leave a poor review. The food was great and it’s a shame they are let down by poor booking service/room advertising. £200 a night - NOT WORTH IT

Enjoyed a lovely meal with family and two dogs. Booked table online and requested a quiet table so not close to other dogs. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Will definitely book again.

We stayed at the Bower Inn for a large family gathering. Dan and the team looked after us so well. The rooms and service were perfect for our needs - various ages and 4 dogs! Cannot fault the food, especially the breakfasts. No hesitation to recommend this lovely pub in a great location.

Excellent place, great rooms, great staff, part of the Pets Pyjamas group, so ideal if you have a dog, one member of staff changed our room,to an easy access room, which I forgot to book,no problems, very helpful. Would highly recommend.

We had a great stay in a lovely room. It was clean and welcoming with a breakfast in the morning. Staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. We would liked some milk in the room instead of getting from the bar (bar was closed, when we returned). Apart from that it was a great night sleep and overall stay.

Large clean room, very large comfortable bed, excellent parking food is good staff very helpful especially Kevin and Chelsea on our stay. Nothing was to much trouble. Only problem full English breakfast not to our taste bacon fatty, sausage spicy, toast like a surf board. There are plenty of other choices wich are very good. We had. 10 for Sunday lunch and it all went very well. Would recommend.

Excellent light lunch. Lovely combination smoked haddock fishcakes, mango curry sauce, saga loo and poached egg. Beautiful flavours! Adore the biscoffi donuts with coffee too! Service excellent. Relaxed atmosphere and quirky place. Lovely experience.
