Probably the best Airport I've visited in my travelling so far. I couldn't find much wrong with it. The directions around the airport are clear, staff were polite enough to show me around when I had inquiries, the environment is neat, tidy and orderly, and even though it's an unbelievably massive establishment, I didn't get lost because of the ever-present signs and reminders of my location. I was able to charge my phone and laptop, eat my food while waiting for my flight, and do a little shopping too. After all said and done, this is one of those rare occasions where I give a 5star rating.

I used to reserve a special place in hell for CDG, but that has since been taken over by my dislike of Gatwick airport. Out the gate this airport is straight up disrespectful by making you pay to drop people off there???? I’ve never heard of something so dumb. The airport seems to have a serious staffing issue, which is apparent in the long queues and general sense of chaos that pervades the main check in area. Things like hours long baggage unloading, missed flights even after arriving 3 hours early, and 50 people in line waiting for coffee all point to a need for more resources. The staff themselves were accommodating and extremely helpful, which is why this review gets 2 stars instead of 1. Design of the airport is also lacking. The airport is designed so that once you go through security, everyone is pooled into a main waiting area instead of being by their gate. Even at non-peak hours, this seating quickly fills up. Additionally, those individuals amassed in the holding area end up swarming the few food and coffee restaurants in the airport, making for insane wait times and lines. They also have seating by the gate, but for some reason block it off and don’t let you go in until you are actively boarding. So you basically sit there for 30 seconds and then get on your plane. Seems like a waste to me and completely pointless. It’s quite shocking to me that this airport design was approved. It does not seem optimal for the needs of travelers like space to sit down and wait for your plane, the ability to get coffee with less than an hour wait, and not having to queue for 2 hours to check baggage.

Good airport which is well connected. Very much appreciated the water refill stations just behind the security bag controls. Just be aware, if you travel from the North Terminal. The main train only stops at the South Terminal. For the North Terminal you have to take a shuttle train. This easily takes another twenty minutes to your journey.

Went to North Terminal N. Wasn’t that huge. About an average airport that requires lots of walking. Parking rates are quite high for long term as well as for the short term.

This place is literally falling apart. I understand that this is not the main airport of London but I expected better. Chipped floor tiles, garbage all over the place, lack of sitting area and add late flights it’s picture of chaos here. I given two starts because of decent food options and duty free shops. Avoid if you have other options available to you.

Arrival was smooth. However, because I saw sign boards inside the arrival hall for “no photography”, I assumed that photography inside the departure hall might be prohibited too (although I didn’t see it) - better safe than sorry 😁. Departure was also smooth. Waiting time was quite short during check-in. Selection of books was quite good at duty free. Although I wished they had more choices in non-fiction. Overall experience = 5 stars for Gatwick airport. Of course, it’s all my experience.

London Gatwick Airport is a little less busy airport than Heathrow Airport. I like to fly in or out of Gatwick Airport because it is less crowded and also very easy to get to London Downtown in 30 minutes by train or by car with the Uber app. But you will save more time at immigration compared to Heathrow Airport.

Very simple and straightforward airport to arrive and depart from. Has monorail to go between North and South terminals. Has very convenient hotels at the airport terminals, just stayed in the Hampton North Terminal for an early morning flight with easyJet.

I have travelled from Gatwick Airport many times and always been a pleasure. All the staff trying hard to their job without delays, stress and anxiety. I would recommend to everyone to be calm,co-operative and follow the instructions of the officers because everything that happens there is for security reasons. There is also a great choice for shopping and dining before your trip especially if you're on a long destination flight. I would suggest to arrive always earlier at the airport. With plenty of time ahead you can be relaxed, finish without stress all the check in process and enjoy your shopping before flight. Enjoy always a safe and relaxing holiday.

If you got an early flight ✈️ let’s say at 5-6 a.m. and you ain’t that lucky to get a night bus (fully booked) or train (another strike) , and you have to arrive early to the airport, let’s say you had arrived at 1a.m. then you’d have to arm yourself with patience, probably you would be still stranded outside the departure-security gate, with the rest “refugees”-passengers fighting for the seat or sleeping on the floor, but as soon you pass the security gate, it’s another world - full of duty shops, liquor stores and restaurants, though all the lounges still will be closed. The airport is pretty easy to navigate in and out, you can find all amenities you need, and it’s pretty clean.

This is the most horrible airport that I have ever used and I shall never go through it again. I had an easyJet flight, EJU8686 to Amsterdam from Gatwick on 28th June 2023 at 20:05 GMT. The flight was delayed by 30 minutes and the gate was to be displayed at 19:40 GMT. A few minutes before 19:40 GMT, the airport’s fire alarm went off and everyone was told to leave the building via the emergency exits. We followed the instructions and left the building and everyone assembled at the designated assembly point. After around 30 minutes, we were allowed to proceed to the gates since we had already cleared security and were waiting in the departure lounge when the alarm went off. We rushed to our gate and boarded the flight. The fully boarded flight stayed put for 1 hour and the captain initially told us that they were waiting for the airport to give the go ahead. Around 9:30 PM GMT, the captain said that the airport security required every passenger on every flight to deplane and go through security again. The excuse given was that when people boarded the planes after the fire alarm, some people had got onto the wrong planes. How could this have been possible when people need to produce their boarding passes at the departure gates before boarding the plane was never explained. Again we followed the instructions and left the plane and exited the secured area. The situation then was chaotic. Thousands of people had randomly queued up to go through security. It was 10 PM. The normal staff had left and there were only a few people to process the security clearance of all those people. 5 easyJet flights were cancelled and the affected passengers were asked to go the check in desks again. These announcements were not done over the PAS. The only announcements made were how Gatwick regretted any inconvenience that may have been caused, even now this pathetic excuse of an airport had doubts that this disaster was anything more than a trifle. People were justifiably losing their patience. Especially so when Emirates passengers to Dubai were fast tracked through security while easyJet passengers waited helplessly. Since our boarding passes had already been scanned by the automated gates at security, they would not be accepted by the scanners again and hence two persons were manually verifying the passes of everyone in the crowd. By the time I got through the gate and into the lines for the actual security check it was 11:30 pm GMT. To add insult to injury, I had to go through security again since my laptop was inside my bag. I told the security personnel that it wasn’t an issue when I went through the same security check on 28th evening but she ignored me. I got onto the plane around 12:15 am GMT and the flight finally took off at 1 am GMT landing at Amsterdam at 3 am CET. Thus a flight which should have arrived at Schiphol at 10 pm CET reached 5 hours late thanks to the incompetent nincompoops who are the staff of London Gatwick Airport. I missed an important appointment, I am going to sleep tonight hungry, I will have to wake up in time for a call at 9 am CET which means I will barely get 4 hours sleep tonight but I wanted to write this review to document and underscore the utter callousness and indifference of London Gatwick Airport to the unfortunate people who have to suffer it’s abysmal services. The airport management didn’t bother to explain their decisions and actions to us. None of the workers bothered to stay back and keep a food shop open where people can get some food. Everything was closed. There were toddlers and babies in that crowd who were crying for food but nobody came forward to help. Again, I can’t curse this airport enough. I have been very civil and polite in this review and have not used any swear words for the humiliation that I went through. I fervently hope that this useless cesspool of an airport is shut down and people don’t have to go through this hell ever again.

The airport can easily be reached by train, coach or car from London (surrounding area). The airport has 2 terminals that are connected via an airport train (runs smoothly every 5-7 min). Options for fast track security check-in is available. You will find lots of affordable shops, restaurants and a lounge. I most recently (October/ November 2023) used the access service at the airport. Please note that you have to inform your airline in advance before being able to use this service. When I touched base with the disability team, I was offered to sit in their separated area. After the boarding gate had been confirmed, I was transferred via an airport vehicle. What I really appreciated was the option to check-in separately from the others. I was taken to an empty waiting area where I was seated with a few other people. From the waiting area, I was escorted to another vehicle that transferred me directly to the airplane. I have to say that the service I received was outstanding. It was by far the smoothest flight experience which suited my challenging overstimulation and anxiety linked to my condition. Additionally I was able to take my friend with me, which was great as her support was needed throughout the entire trip.

This airport is quite dirty and has a noisy, unkept and rushed feel. It’s certainly not the best airport I’ve ever visited. The directions to check-in are not very clear and one is rushed through various checkpoints in such a manner as to make one feel stressed out, anxious and frustrated. The flight departure gate information is provided at the last minute, requiring a fast walk to get to the gate on time to board. The airport duty free shops are understaffed and the sales clerks are stressed out - they have to do stocktaking, put out new stock, carry out sales and assist customers simultaneously. One shop was robbed while I was there as the sales clerk was occupied by customers when someone walked off with items.

Few shops landside. Went through security quickly. There are shops and restaurants airside but not too many decent ones to eat at Wetherspoons is always busy no matter what times we have visited here still enough shops to get food and drinks.

Good airport, lots of shops and facilities with a rail link to London and Brighton. We flew out of the South Terminal and with Corendon Airlines. There was quite a long line at the baggage drop and there was only one person to check everyone in. Another person did arrive a few minutes later though, which sped things up a bit. Security was quick and within a few minutes we were into Duty Free. All of the restaurants were quite busy, but it is the summer after all. There are shops such as WHSmith and Boots as well. There’s also place to fill up your water bottles after security which is handy. We were delayed by 2 hours and I’m not sure the reason for that (the airline didn’t say), which wasn’t great. On our return the border lines were super busy, the main line was going up the ramp and only 3/4 of the 10 desks had people on it. Since we had an early flight, no-one wanted to be standing around in a line for 10+ minutes. It was a Sunday around 10am, so I was expecting it to be a bit faster especially around the weekend. Since we were in the line for so long our bags were already there which was good. Overall it’s a great airport, but I was expecting it to be more slick on the border side.

Great experience at this clean and well run airport. Plenty of parking and good access via rail link. Good range of shops and places to eat. My only negative is the sometimes horrendous queues for passport checks when you return.

It's my closest and most frequently used airport. I fly regularly, which means I'm always seeing building work undertaken. This isn't a criticism as, from my point of view, it means the airport is always improving. Convenient train station in the airport that allows you to disembark to cheaply travel onwards with hailing an Uber. Be aware that trains do not run until 2.00 am. in the morning if you arrive on a night flight.

I flew from Gatwick Airport to Belfast a few weeks ago. The airport wasn't nearly as quiet as I thought it would be at 5am! But getting through security was a breeze. It took a brief walk from the train station to the shuttle train and only 10 minutes to get into the departure hall. A few shops and restaurants were open for breakfast, and the toilets are squeaky clean. And the best part, the free newspapers and magazines!

The Gatwick Airport South Terminal was pretty good, nothing to complain about. Fairly easy to get to, large and not cramped, a good selection of stores and cafes/restaurants. The Duty Free section was pretty good too. If you are a smoker then it won't be your favourite, a part from the smoking area outside at the front of the terminal there are no other smoking areas, keep that in mind.

Amazing connection from central London , Basically I was a bit worried when I watched the news about chaos and disruptions in travel but to be honest it was far from that ! Everything went so smooth and there aren’t even long queues as other airports ! The duty free is amazing too lots of shops and caffès to choose from

London's second largest airport, normally short haul to Europe but many long haul destinations departures too. Dropped wife's Auntie off for her flight to the USA. I'll be back to fly to the Spanish islands next Spring. Really easy parking in short stay £23 for 2 hours £8 for an hour. South and North terminals are linked by shuttle service. The railway station is from the south Terminal.

Easy access. Quickest checkin of the last two decades and then had easy access to lounge super-friendly customs officers. Such a superb experience. Not for shopping and stop-over you have to enjoy a quick flight only out of London.

I arrived at the airport from Malaga with a layover of 6 hours, when I went to the Norse Atlantic counters, the woman who was there ordering the line for check-in told me to come back in 2 hours, and when I got back, she told me that I had to do the whole line, why didn't you say it from the beginning? It seems to me a great lack of principles to play like that with people's time.

Probably 1 of the best airports that I have used for years. Really good communication with train station 1 min linked to the south terminal, you would need the FREE 5 min shuttle to get to north terminal . Constant National buses stopping at south and north terminal. Also you have plenty of parking places , inside the airport and long stay parking with free bus. For departures in South Terminal , you would need to go to 1st floor, and use stairs/lift, the same with North Terminal. Make sure you bring your liquids max 100ml in a measure plastic bag for the security boarding as otherwise sometimes you would have to wait long time to be reviewed. They offer also special assistance by pressing the call button at the parking area.

I’ve never been off a flight and onto a train so quickly, especially at Gatwick! 15 minutes!!?? Absolutely awesome! I mean fair enough I only had hand luggage but even still I was expecting a much longer time wait. Fast, efficient and very friendly staff, I’m certainly going to make sure I choose Gatwick as my return airport from Ireland next time again for sure! Even the train was on time to London Bridge and so I was home almost within an hour of disembarking the flight. Unheard of and very welcome!! Top marks!! 👌🙏🙌

A large and busy airport you'd come across in Europe, the Gatwick airport also known as London Gatwick Airport services both local and international travellers. It comprises of the North terminal and south terminal. These 2 terminals are easily accessible with the aid of a shuttle which runs every other minute, so you wouldn't have a problem commuting between both terminals,

  • 5/5 Chris T. 10 months ago on Google
Long stay parking was straight forward to find and shuttle bus came right away (comes every 10 minutes). Easy to navigate to the North Terminal via the train. Fast and efficient check in and boarding. Polite staff 👍

From experience very good, 2 terminals connected by monorail, a quick 2 minute drive. Sussex Police station nearby, train station has a British Transport Police station, helpful. Plane-spotters, good news, there are many interesting places to plane-spot from, including the train station, Lowfield Heath Road, Lowfield Heath Road parking facility and more.
