The
Bell
is
a
lovely
cosy
restaurant,
with
tasty
food
and
a
good
atmosphere.
When
we
came
through
the
front
door,
there
was
an
unpleasant
smell
like
toilets
but
the
toilets
were
very
clean
so
I’m
not
sure
where
it
came
from.
When
we
arrived
to
The
Bell,
we
were
greeted
promptly
and
told
our
table
was
still
being
set
up.
This
gave
us
time
to
order
some
drinks
before
we
went
to
the
table,
which
were
served
promptly.
The
lager
selection
on
tap
was
fantastic
and
the
Asahi
lager
was
delicious.
Once
we
had
our
drinks,
we
were
told
our
table
was
ready.
The
table
was
for
6
but
I
felt
it
was
slightly
cramped,
and
being
wedged
up
the
corner
did
not
help.
Nonetheless,
the
table
itself
was
clean
and
the
decor,
traditional
in
its
nature,
helped
create
a
warm
and
cosy
atmosphere.
One
member
of
the
party
who
had
arrived
later
was
seated
at
the
table
for
10
minutes
until
I
had
to
flag
down
a
waiter
to
take
a
drinks
order.
The
drinks
arrived
promptly
and
the
house
wine
I
ordered,
Merlot,
was
served
at
room
temperature
which
was
perfect.
My
guests
had
the
following
items:
*
SMOKED
SALMON
&
KING
PRAWNS
topped
with
Devon
crab
crème
fraîche,
served
with
ciabatta’
which,
whilst
presented
rather
oddly
with
a
jar
to
house
the
salmon
and
prawns
(and
hindered
the
process
of
eating
the
meal),
tasted
great.
The
ciabatta
was
toasted
perfectly
and
the
salmon
and
prawns
were
rich
in
flavour.
The
portion
was
a
good
size,
and
it
is
something
I
would
order
again.

DIABLO
PIZZA
-
This
ended
up
being
a
great
choice.
It
was
too
hot
to
eat
on
arrival,
and
the
pizza
cutter
offered
barely
made
a
dent,
however
once
it
had
cooled
and
I
was
able
to
eat
it
with
a
knife
and
fork,
I
was
impressed
with
every
component.
The
pepperoni
was
delicious,
and
the
ham
hock,
bacon
and
chorizo
complimented
the
jalapeños
and
red
chili
perfectly.
The
portion
size
was
slightly
too
big
as
about
a
quarter
of
it
went
to
waste,
so
the
option
of
a
doggy
bag
here
is
a
good
one.
The
table
had
started
to
fill
up
with
glasses
by
the
time
our
mains
were
finished
and
this
was
neglected
by
the
waiters.
It
was
a
rather
busy
night
so
I
can
forgive
this,
but
it
did
make
the
already
small
table
even
more
cramped
whilst
eating
our
main
courses.
*
HOME-BAKED
CHOCOLATE
BROWNIE
-
This
was
served
with
custard,
of
which
I
had
specifically
requested.
The
dessert
was
the
pièce
de
résistance
of
the
night.
Presented
beautifully,
perfect
in
flavour
and
portion
size,
I
would
happily
eat
this
after
every
meal.
*
Panko
Chicken
-
This
came
with
their
chips
and
gravy.
It
was
okay
the
chicken
was
little
dry
in
places
and
I
feel
a
green
product
would
of
made
a
nice
addition
to
the
meal.
*
Freshly
Battered
Line-Caught
Cod
-
no
faults!
:)
*
Ice
cream
and
home-baked
triple
chocolate
cookie
-
This
was
delicious!
The
added
choice
of
ice
cream
really
with
this
dessert
was
a
lovely
bonus.
The
toilets
in
the
restaurant
left
a
little
to
be
desired,
as
the
night
went
on
they
became
progressively
worse
with
a
wet
floor
in
the
toilet
and
unflattering
smells.
Overall,
I
would
rate
the
Bell
at
a
7/10
as
it
allowed
for
an
enjoyable
night,
however
certain
incidents
listed
above
could
definitely
be
improved
if
I
were
to
visit
again.
The
company
was
great
and
the
service
was
ok
but
room
for
improvement.
I
understand
Friday
evenings
are
busy
but
we
didn’t
have
a
waiter
to
check
up
on
us
or
clear
our
empty
glasses
away
from
the
table.
