Was staying in Oswestry for a couple of nights so I looked to see if there was an Indian in the town, & boy was I glad I did as the place is just amazing. There are plenty of tables but it was quite busy for a Wednesday night so it will definitely be busy on a Friday & Saturday so best to book. They have a great choice on the menu, plenty of speciality meals, starters, the usual meals like Kormas, masalas etc & a selection of rice's & naan breads. My husband had the tandoori chicken to start & that was delicious with good chunks of chicken. For our main we ordered a chicken curry, (sorry the name escapes me) with garlic rice and it really was soo good. The poppadoms were excellent too as not greasy but crispy & came with onions, mango, lime pickle & a spicy red one 😋 I have to say it was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had, I really couldn't fault it at all, I wish I lived local to it 👌 The staff are wonderful & extremely helpful, they have been in business for 45 years which says everything 😍

Superb, helpful and delicious! We were cold, wet and hungry after an epic hike and telephoned the Simla to ask if they could still feed us at 2150 on a bleak Wednesday night, they said they'd wait for us and we arrived just before ten. They were friendly and welcoming and the food was superb. Thank you and well done!

Fantastic food, big portions, great value and great service. The staff here are friendly and the restaurant was busy with people that seemed to be local/regulars which is usually a pretty good sign. We stayed in the area 3 nights and dined here on two nights. We parked easily in the parking bays on the road, maybe 100 yards away from the restaurant. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Extremely worst food, would never suggest any Indian to dine in to fake restaurant. Racism at its peaks (hybrid British Indian owner himself). Salt - 0 Spice - 0 Taste - 0 Want to waste money ? Visit Simla Tandoori Restaurant😝

It's been a while since I have been here and this review is late to the party, but really enjoyed my time here. The special red sauce locally made is amazing and at the time so much hotter than the Madras I had. But it tasted so good. Even took some back home. Highly recommend Simla.

First time going to this restaurant and it won't be the last. As soon as you walk in, you see that the restaurant is lovely and looks like a newly opened place but has actually been open since 1976. That in itself shows how well liked it is. Staff were very helpful and polite. The food was beautiful and very good sized portions. They brought up plastic tubs and bags for the food that we couldn't manage. I would definitely recommend here to anyone looking for a good Indian meal. We will definitely be back in the very near future. .

Craving a curry during a flying visit to Oswestry, we gave Simla a shot, and I’m happy to say it lived up to my expectations after reading the reviews. The food was definitely toward the upper end of the scale, the popadoms and dips were fantastic, service was quick but a little frosty. We got a bit of a rapport in the end. Exceptionally good value.

Favourite place for a curry, staff are polite, friendly and very welcoming. Plenty of choice on the menu and the portions are a decent size, naan breads are fresh and tasty, its no wonder the place has been going 47 years it's spot on, would highly recommend!

For a long time, the simla has been serving the best Indian food in Oswestry. Tonight for the Mrs birthday, they went above and beyond and I am massively appreciative.

I found the food to be average/good , I had the garlic chilli Marsala from the specials menu but it was more like a well seasoned stew, than spicy curry very large chunks of onion more alike to a mild form of Jalfrezi ? The lamb itself was quite good quality, as was the naan bread. Wish I'd of ordered the meat Tali, this did look very tempting! Very cold inside the restaurant when we visited in January. Would probably give it another go in the summer months and order a classic HOT curry.

Great food to be honest. Took a while for food to arrive, but they were busy. Worth a visit.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! One of the best Indian that I ever tried in uk. Food is delicious, good proper portions, fair price, amazing customer service. Pappadoum that u bring you as starter are very crispy and the sauces (sweet mango-hot chilly-pickled lime) really matching with the onions. . Atmosphere relaxed--friendly, pleasent surroundings and bright.

Both dishes too mild for us. My dansak should have a bit of a bite . Just sweet. Won't go back.

Visited Simla on an evening with a party of 6 friends. Have to say from the moment we arrived until the time we left we had pleasant & efficient service by the Staff.All the food was exceptional and at a fare price. Best Indian meal we have had in a long time. It's a shame we were only passing through or this would definitely become our regular. The service was quick and efficient, but also warm and welcoming. The food was delicious. Lamb just melted in the mouth.

The poppadoms were ok with plenty of dips, the mixed tandoori grill starters were ok. The main courses were average at best and my wife's meal tasted burnt. Less than impressed by the waiter scratching something off the plate before putting it in front of me.

This restaurant was super 25 years ago and it still is. Got a take away this evening and when I popped in it was buzzing full of happy customers. The food was absolutely delicious and all 6 of us, with different dishes agreed. Highly recommended

Picked this place as it had good reviews and 5 star hygiene ratings. The staff were friendly and the place was good, the table for 4 was a bit small for a big selection of food. The chicken was a little rubbery as was the butterfly king prawn. There was a spot of mould on one of the 4 poppadoms so we returned it and the only that came back had a little piece missing? Surely they would not return it? Chicken G G was tasty but the wife and kids were not impressed with theirs.

The worst Indian food I've ever had . Absolutely bland and disgusting. The woman at the reception is even worse at customer service. Definitely not Indian or even close to Indian or Asian food . They say their food is Halal but when I went to collect my food they were serving alcohol. Stay away from this place or you'll find out the hard way like I did .

I love Indian food and this was one of the best Indian's I have ever had. Even though they were very busy, service was great too. Couldn't fault it and I would highly recommend Simla.

Great family run restaurant. The food was truly top class. I always thought that my most favourite dish was Tandoori chicken. Well that has been surpassed by Tandoori salmon as recommended by the lovely granddaughter of the owners. Sublime is all I can say. The service is attentive without being overbearing. It's an 11 from me! Can't wait to come back when my Keto diet is done!

First time to Restaurant Being an experienced curry lover I had my usual Chicken Shaslick. Probably the worst ever. Never seen a clay oven was presented in a bland curry sauce nothing like the presentation of a real Shaslick. Should not be called a Shaslick. My colleagues Prawn Shaslick just the same. No worth a visit!!

Food was possibly the best Indian I have had in years. Went with 6 of us, and they were very catering to my grandmother who is Coeliac. Would highly recommend!

Their takeaway is fantastic but the restaurant experience is so much better, truly elevated. Quick and polite service, staff are friendly, we got exactly what we wanted in the perfect amounts. Very accommodating that we wanted to eat quickly as we had another appointment, so pleasant and a really lovely evening.

Good curry place we went to visit nearby and had our dinner there. Need more halal options

Just had my food delivered by a very pleasant young man. Only his 2nd day on the job. He's doing a fantastic job. So polite with a huge smile.

I travelled here from afar. Spacious restaurant however, poor atmosphere with bright white lighting and toilet doors springing open the whole time. The service was ok but there was far too much salt in a dish and the sauces did not appear to be fresh but pre made. It was an average experience.

Went there for a meal Mr Nagar who works there at this time makes a signature chutney dish out of this world. Care and service brilliant. Loved the owner and wife asking us were we enjoying the experience. Also font of wisdom on local sites as well. A must to visit. Parked in market for free from 6pm to 8am
