We ordered Achari, Rogan, and Handi, with sabzi bhaji, bhindi bhaji, and matar paneer. Yet they all looked the same. That generic orange brown onion tomato gravy that gets served out to unwitting people across the UK. The Handi had mange touts in it, which had changed the flavour of the dish. I have never come across a Handi with mange touts in it. The first iteration of matar paneer didn't actually have any paneer in it, and its replacement only had about 6 pieces in it. The roti, where not like roti at all. While the Achari had a nice flavour to it, it wasn't pickle spiced enough, and was overshadowed by the generic sauce. Overall it's a real shame and a real disappointment as last time I came here it was okay. I won't be back. There are much better places around, for much better prices (I hope, otherwise it's a long travel for a good curry).

Never again. We had to send our food back twice but the answer from the manager ( Amlin ) was well nobody else has complained. When paying I went to the toilet to find that he had asked for my wife’s number while I was in the toilet. So unprofessional.

Enjoyed another great dinner at Rivaj. The staff are always friendly, the setting, especially the booths, are ideal for cosy meals no matter how large the group. As always the food was delicious and although one starter wasn't what we ordered it was delicious and we were offered the starter we ordered in addition to the one we were served. I wouldn't eat Indian food anywhere else and we will definitely be returning soon.

We ordered yesterday at 6.20 the food arrived at 7.00 samoas wasn't cooked and cold. The onion bahji was also cold. Had to put the starters and main course which was wraps and chips in the oven. Very disappointed ☹️

Been going a few years now, always good, however last few times have been overcharged on bill by quite a bit -I advise always check your bill. Had the Boxing Day buffet (minimum of 2 ppl). Pitiful amount in finger dip bowls to be shared by 2. Had banquet before and portions, though not massive were bigger than today’s. Luckily other members of party had more than they could eat so had some of theirs too. Probably won’t go again do to repeated overcharging.

Have to say, as a regular customer to Rivaj, I’m always amazed by the level of service that we receive and the quality of the food. Nothing is ever too much trouble. We visited on Christmas Day, first time eating out on Christmas Day. The restaurant was full to capacity but level of service as fabulous as ever. We live in wrightington and always wanted to visit went for 1st time for my husbands birthday service was a bit higilty pigilty had to keep asking a member of staff we were ready to order food and drinks asked for second drink never materialized so just ended up going and paying bill but staff were very polite and food superb.

1st visit and I was so impressed. Food was amazing. Staff were so attentive and the price was very reasonable. Can’t wait for my next visit.

My partner and I decided to order an Indian takeaway and chose Rivaj because they open a bit earlier on a Saturday and had heard very positive things about the place. Rang for the meal at 4pm and was advised that it would be ready at 4.25. Prepared for a five minute delay I arrived at 4.30. Unfortunately the meal was not ready until 4.50. That would have been acceptable, if someone had told me I was in for a wait. When the meal eventually came, no apology was proffered. I ordered two main courses, three starters, rice and naan. The total cost was just short of £40 which was quite pricey compared to our normal takeaway. The duck Tikka starter was disappointing and lacked flavour. The chicken Tikka main was also disappointing, just chicken in a metal container with none of the tasty onions that usually accompany this dish. The sauce that came with it was bland. Highlight of the meal was the Matar Paneer which was delicious. King Prawn Balti Masala was OK but not worth the hefty price tag. All in all we were underwhelmed and quite disappointed as we had been looking forward to a first class, tasty meal.

As a welcome extremely courtesy with prompt service - meal and drinks order taken quickly and served speedily with good quality and tasty food. Décor is a cross between modern and traditional Indian styles with a slightly annoy partly audible sound track play in the background. Cosy intimate or open space dining depending on your preference and how busy they might be. This is a large place with plenty of attentive staff until you near the end of your meal which is when they seem to lose all interest in you - not interested if you have finished or not and you actually have stand up to leave before the bill is presented. Generally good quality but far too gushing welcome and then a total loss of interest in service as the evening wears on.

We ordered a chicken naga and a chicken madras; both were some of the best curries we have ever had! The consistency was just right, chicken was cooked well, and all sides were delicious. Additionally, staff were accommodating and lovely! If we're back in the area in future, we will definitely visit again.

Outstanding! Went for a family meal and enjoyed every minute of it. There were no cobra bottles, but it was on draught! Win. Curry was really tasty, everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. Service was really good, everyone friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

The only bad thing with rivaj is the consistency. Sometimes it can be absolutely blinding then the next visit poor. Tonight was very good, only a couple bits of lamb were chewy but was a lovely meal. Wish the takeaway or just eat delivery had the same levels of meat as eat in though.

2nd time ordered and 1 meal missing on both occasions. When we rang we were told missing meal on its way and "currently on your road" sorry but feel lied to, won't be ordering again

Eaten in and had takeaway......to be honest the food is always lovely but service on delivery can be improved ......had food missing/ wrong food on more than one occasion and its always longer than they say. We ordered tonight with items missing, told would be 20 mins so put the rest of our food on low to keep warm in the oven.....over 1 hr later rest of food delivered but at this point were past it. Rest of food bit dried up now. Said they will sort something out but unsure I want to order delivery again.

Top people, top food and cracking service.

Great dining in experience and great prices. Wonderful place to go for a family meal. You get huge portions of authentic flavourful food and can take what you can't finish home. My only fault is the takeaway they operate - the service I recieved was awful. Cold food, missing items so one family member didn't have any food while the rest did, and a promised refund for that after we called up... but they never came back.

Used to be a decent takeaway but the past few haven't been that great, although have given them the benefit of the doubt. Just ordered one today and the food and experience was truly awful. Ordered online for collection at 7pm with nearly two hours notice prior to collection. Has to wait 30 mins whilst there Multiple times asked what we had ordered despite doing it online and surely this should be printed or known before our collection Was told salmon was not available despite being able to order online, asked us for alternative option so said king prawn as we are pescetarian so do not eat meat other than fish After extensive wait time amongst complete chaos and organisation we was given the order Got home , no chips included as ordered.. The king prawn tikka turned out to be a very. Dry stale chicken!! Definitely won't be returning customer which is a shame as this place used to be good but has clearly dropped off..

So tonight we ordered food at 6.07pm through their direct website and got told the food would arrive by 7.17pm. As that time came we where still waiting, waiting and waiting until it hit 8pm when I made a phone call. I got the impression Quadro(sorry if this is wrong) who I spoke to had no idea what order i was talking about and informed me i had to wait another 30minutes. I wasnt happy at all. So at 8.45pm the food finally arrived and there was no sorry or anything extra or knocked off the bill to show some form of kindness, I was told if I order again I will get a discount which we all know will never happen. Very cheeky! I will not be ordering from The Rivaj again because of the wait and the food was so disappointing. A waste of money!

This was my 2nd visit to Rivaj and both times were fantastic. The curries are consistently tasty, high quality and well textured. I had the lamb nawabi this time which I highly recommend. I dont like leaving a poor review for my local as the staff are all so good, but I think they need to know the quality of some of the food is not what it should be. The Lamb is disgraceful! Sorry but it is and has been for a while. Tuff as old boots. The manager/owner knows me and I'd like him to have a look and sort it because I'm annoyed that my family want to go elsewhere now.

We have visited here a few times and always been good but last night it wasn’t good at all . The chicken And the duck was very dry the the vegetable curry sauce was tasteless we didn’t enjoy it at all . It was very busy and people were coming in after us and getting served before us we had to ask to be served as been waiting ages
