Great food and great service. This was my first time at an Indian restaurant and I treated myself on Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious and they were so sweet to explain all the different flavors. They answered every question I had about the menu. There were a few things I ordered that they didn’t have but I understand that supply chain issues happen. I’ll be back. I loved the flavors and the service.

Intimate, warmly lit, atmosphere. Vibrant tasty curries. Kadahi and Vindaloo are my go-to choices! The menu offers accommodations for a variety of allergies, including gluten, soy, dairy, and peanut free.

5 Stars All-around the board from the food to the service to the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant. Our waiter Sid was very helpful in the descriptions of each plate and recommended the Lamb Bhuna for me which was filling and had an amazing taste. My wife had the Daba Chicken Curry and she enjoyed it as well !

What a wonderful gem to find! Not only was the staff amazingly pleasant and informative. But the food was fresh and Earthy in both taste and sight!. Would give 6 stars and recommend highly to others.

Easily the best samosas you’ll have, and incredible selection of curries too. Korma and kadhai are not to be missed! Good local beer selection too. Pretty lighting and bar, super quiet atmosphere so good for group conversation or more relaxed meals.

Excellent food … Menu is extensive and good high standard .. definitely fine dining.. Servers are also good great and always efficient and polite The only thing Chicken tanduri was not so good and cold but other wise overall good experience We tried 2..3 types of mock tails…. Just lovely selection Love this place and will continue to visit.. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So freakin good. We got the chicken Tikka masala and biryani lamb. We apparently only took pics of the appetizer and dessert lol

What a fantastic experience! Jessica was a very kind and thoughtful server and the food was impeccable. I highly recommend their Chai and the dosa! Also the vegetarian options are endless. You will not be disappointed in the presentation or the taste of this restaurant. *the mint chutney is phenomenal*

We came from out of town and this place was amazing. The atmosphere was so peaceful. Really nice waitress and the food was so delicious. We got the butter chicken and khadai chicken with garlic naan and rice. The mango lassi was amazing too. This will be our go to restaurant when we come back to Birmingham!!

Very tasty, healthy Indian food. Had a mango lassi, korma, and tikka masala. Yummy and abundant. They let us bring our cat in (we were traveling) and were friendly to her. ☺️ I loved that there were people from all ethnicities in the restaurant - lovers of good Indian food! Absolutely wonderful experience and phenomenal food. Definitely a new favorite spot! Chicken vindaloo, veggie biryani, and the masala lamb chops were all spicy and perfect!

Forget everything you know or have heard about Indian cuisine. The food, the service, the whole experience at Bay Leaf is like no other. Seriously over the top amazing dishes. There were 5 of us. We ordered 3 different appetizers and each a different entree. Every single one was fabulous. Everything was cooked to order with personalize spice level from none to very spicy. Great vegetarian options, too. I highly recommend this place.

Delightful experience at Bay Leave 5 points south location. Delicious food, perfect service in a modern but comfortable atmosphere. You should try it, don’t be afraid that it’s too spicy because they can accommodate all spice levels

Excellent food, presentation and service! Definitely a 5 star experience of Indian Food Restaurant in Birmingham. We ordered Crab lollipop, Dhaba Chicken and Biryani. Mouth watering food! Our stomachs are full but heart isn’t. We will be back!

The food and drinks were amazing. The service was excellent. It was my husbands birthday and they even brought dessert and sang at the table, which was so sweet. We will be back!

The service was very kind, we called 40 min before arrival to keep the food ready as we were traveling long distance and they considered , very nice. I wanted to try this restaurant because of the good reviews about the food however when I saw that the owner allowed a CAT into the restaurant I was turned off. The PRIVILEGE that is extended to a certain group in America is astonishing. If a pet lover loves their animal so much then offer them the option of TOGO not allowing them to bring an animal into your nice establishment. I am allergic to cats and the thought of another privileged individual being allowed to bring in a cat while I was dining in is the only thought that took over my mind. To the owner of this restaurant is this restaurant for people or animals? Can’t be both because humans have allergies and cats are a no-no. Please do better!

I barely write reviews but I had to for this restaurant. I was looking for something to eat and stopped into this gem. I was looking for something light that didn’t require too much chewing. Sid, an amazing employee helped me choose. I ordered the mild butter chicken and mango lassi. It was soooooo good! I would make it my business to visit here again. And the atmosphere is very aesthetically pleasing. I did take out but I plan to dine in next time.

The food was tasty and a good portion. They have lunch deals that are a great value compared to restaurants in the area. The lunch specials were even available on Saturday! The atmosphere is nice and the service was awesome! The only thing I personally wouldn't recommend is the rice pudding dessert. However, that is a preference rather than quality issue.

Dosa was great. Beautiful presentation shown here. The eggplant dish was served in too much oil, but friend enjoyed his chicken dish. Make reservations if you come on Friday or Saturday.

This place is heaven on earth. The food is absolutely delicious. I used to have dinner here twice per month when I was traveling to Birmingham before COVID. I finally had a chance to come back to Birmingham this week and Bay Leaf is the first restaurant I wanted to go to. I wasn't disappointed and the staff is super nice! I love their butter chicken!!!

Amazing! Great food and atmosphere. Naan nice and pillowy and very hot and fresh. Appetizers were the chutney flight (nice), crab lollypops, and samosas. All were great, the crab lollypops were the winner for, but the samosa were close. Ordered chicken korma, butter chicken, and a lamb vindaloo. The former 2 medium, and the latter extra spicy. Flavor and portions are wonderful. Spice levels were low, I would have preferred more heat on them all, but I am a spice hound and the folks I was with enjoyed it. Also had both their chili and garlic naan. Both good, I preferred the garlic.

A superb dining experience. Hate that we couldn't sub for garlic nan or butter chicken though this time due to the new rules. I guess to get more customers in for dinner. All in all still enjoyable 😉

Environment and food is great. I did feel that the waiter prematurely asked if I was ready for my bill while I was still eating. Overall, the food presentation and taste are worth the visit.

The food and service was top notch. No complaints there. However, when my wife left the table to use the restroom she discovered that you have to leave the restaurant through the back exit that locks behind you and then re-enter via the alley (in the rain) that was inhabited by a very nice homeless man. Also, on reviewing the transaction to the gift card I used to pay for the meal I discovered that they had added an extra $2.30 on top of the cost of the food and the tip I had added, which was already above 15% after tax. So what would have been a 5 star review I'm taking down to 2 because of the restroom situation and the fact that you stole $2.30 from me.

This restaurant fails to take accountability. Served with chicken when I ordered paneer. Second hands on experience and third such that i know of. The restaurant has made it a habit of serving meat to people who do not eat meat.

I have tried chicken biryani before from bay leaf but today very Very disappointed, ordered chicken biryani got chicken fried instead. Can not believe it the staff kept on explaining this is a biryani .please owner look the images and think , don’t do this to a regular costumer. If you don’t have raw material ready don’t just take the order.

I cannot say enough about this place. The atmosphere is tranquil, seating is cleverly laid out so you don’t feel crowded, I’m often greeting immediately or within a few moments of arrival. A lunch menu is available during the day time and the restaurant closes for a few hours before reopening for dinner. When time permits I’m often able to have whimsical banter with the employees who are very vigilant in their efforts to serve. The restaurant is optimized with Google allowing you to make a reservation and you have the option of outdoor seating. The food is amazing - I’ve yet to have a bad meal and don’t anticipate that ever being the case. So much so that I often forget to take photos of my meals prior to eating due to the anticipated goodness. Go, don’t think about, just go. Enjoy!

Great food and kind people! I made a mistake when ordering online and ordered at the wrong location. The people working that night were really nice and offered to remake my dinner to save me the trip downtown

We ate using the new buffet service. Wide variety of vegan and meat based dishes. Was able to try a bite of everything. The food, wait staff,and interior design made for a happy experience. Will definitely go back on a regular basis. Easy walk from the South Side area.
