The ambiance is great. Interior is stunning and elegant, hospitality is good, staff members are polite and friendly. I like they pay attention to details, they changed new plates (warm not cold one!!!) before serving the main courses. Decent Indian food with some modern twist. Enjoyed most dishes. The spices were flavourful yet by no means intrusive. A perfect spot for any occasion.

I would describe this food as playfully delightful and rich. Elevated without pretentiousness. Fine dining without snootiness. You can just as comfortably eating with your hands or a full set of cutlery here depending on your wishes. The food is the star of the show, delicious pairings bringing creative twists to classics. We stuck to the lunch menu on our first visit but this only whet the appetite for coming back. The aloo chaat was an absolute standout and I can't envisage a visit where this isn't on my bill. Abdul served and guided us through the menu in a personal and friendly manner bringing added enjoyment to our experience. Gymkhana has been on our list for a long time and with a lot of contenders in the countries I can say we were fools to leave it until now to find space in our diaries. We will be back and anyone hesitating or putting off a visit should book at their earliest convenience.

We visited Gymkhana for their tasting menu and wine pairing, which was bought for us as a gift, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience. The food is spectacular, the service faultless and the ambiance is lovely. The wine pairing was incredible, every glass was perfectly matched to the food. If you're having the tasting menu, make sure you're hungry as it is a huge amount of food. We ended up bringing some home and enjoyed it just as much the next day. The only criticism I have is that more time should be allocated to your table if you have the tasting menu, as even though we arrived early we did feel rushed during some parts of the meal - wines were arriving when we still had some to finish, and we received our bill while we were in the middle of dessert. Overall an amazing experience and I would love to return one day.

I can’t rave about this place enough! GREAT SERVICE. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations! The food had a great flavour! The lamb chops were so meaty and deliciously flavoured with spices not to mention cooked to perfection. I have no complaints at all. I will be back!

Serious indulgence of taste buds! Atmosphere feels a bit cramped but still classy and beautifully decorated. They could put slightly more effort in the bread platter but otherwise every other dish was outstanding. Very friendly staff too! They remember why you're visiting them and make a fuss about it which is very sweet.

This restaurant deserves 2 stars Michelin. If you are here for the first time, get the tasting menu. They are very good with wine pairing. The wine actually makes so much sense with the food. I have wine pairing in numerous restaurants before but sometimes you just feel like they give you random wine. However, here the wine they pair with actually makes the dish better. They gave us a red with our chicken dish. It tasted like you crack black pepper onto the dish. Also there was a sweet white wine with the khebab. It tasted like a dish you cook that needed an extra touch of sugar. That was so smart. Overal 9.5/10 Prawn curry could improve. Because the rest was just so good.

We had dinner and everything was amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such good service anywhere it was amazing. The food was delicious but too spicy for me, now the server did warn that the food was spicy when we ordered it, so that mistake is just on me. But even the items that weren’t overly spicy did feel like they were a bit hotter then what I am used to in Canada. These were the best desserts I’ve ever had at any Indian restaurant.

Best Indian fine dining experience in London! I would rate an 11/10 for service, ambiance, cuisine, flavor, uniqueness. Was hyped up by many friends/family and it delivered on the ultra high expectations. Every bite was a culinary experience and just blew my mind each time. Worth it (expensive but Michelin star so it’s expected) and make sure to get a reservation asap as it’s very hard to get into. Can’t wait to come back!

The restaurant is top end, in a good central location in Green Park and the exquisite food was just to die for!! I’ve had all of these Indian dishes in other Indian restaurants and in comparison, Gymkhana’s Indian food was absolutely spot on for presentation as well as taste. The waiters are great, regularly checking to see if all is well and helping with dietary requirements. Knocked off one star for not being told certain things would be chargeable on our bill. All in all a good night, as you can see from pics and videos, with my girlfriends for life!

Celebrated my brothers birthday here and it was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious and they even surprised us with a candle on their dessert. The service was perfect, food was bought out fresh and delicious. The Lamb was my favourite. Cocktails are strong and tasty too.

It is not a special occasion restaurant but an everyday Indian restaurant that produces absolutely fantastic food at a reasonable price point (for Mayfair). Portion is extremely generous, too. Congratulations on the second star -- you deserve it.

Gymkhana's food is great - flavoursome and in good quantity. It is also spicy, when other restaurants hold back. Every meal we ordered was very good. I'm knocking a star off because on both times we've gone, they have screwed up our reservation. It's hypocritical to take my credit card details on booking, but fail to reserve a table with the correct number of seats.

To start off, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly with any requests or guiding through your order. While the food was very good, it was not the best available in London and didn't feel it was worth the prices. The portion sizes are very generous and the new early evening menu available from 5-6pm is extremely good value for money with four courses for £35. The portions on this menu are also very generous and has some of their best items on it. Unfortunately, with all the food we ordered, we took two hours at the table and were rushed out at the end. While I understand that they needed the table, it wasn't very pleasant.

The food is incredible, such amazing flavours. The service is perfect and the ambiance is superb. One of my favourite places. It’s not cheap, but worth it. Was a special occasion for me and my brother who were celebrating our birthdays we had both missed over the Covid period. Made a special occasion very special

Gymkhana is inspired by the elite clubs of India where you can socialise, eat and drink. Gymkhana is famous for its classic and contemporary Indian cuisine. Gymkhana is split over two floors offering two distinctive looks and feels. Throughout the restaurant, the interiors are elevated by an array of original Gymkhana. The bars of Gymkhana specialise in the finest Indian ingredients and flavour combinations.

The tasting menu is really fantastic. Some of the dishes were delicious versions of Indian dishes I’ve had before, and some were very different and unexpected. I highly recommend having everyone get a tasting menu and order different things so you can try everything! The cocktails were also great.

My husband and I tried the tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. Every dish was a wonderful combination of textures and flavors. My favorite dish was the prawn curry. The mango rice pudding was also spectacular. Beware, the tasting menu is a SIGNIFICANT amount of food. We couldn’t get anywhere close to finishing the main dishes because we were so full! Be sure to make reservations well in advance.

Lovely experience for our Anniversary Lunch at Gymkhana, One MICHELIN Star restaurant in London. The only reason I am giving the food 4 stars is because I had chickpeas in almost every dish I was served as part of my lunch package - that said, I am a fussy eater and I don’t do much dairy. But every item was wonderful, nicely presented. Food is rich, creamy - you will need a nap right after! In general, the service is very accommodating, spice levels are right and the ambience is beautiful. Highly recommend! Super vegetarian friendly.

Food was exquisite, the flavours were refreshing some which I've never tasted before. The service was great with attention to detail by the waiters. Only critical feedback will be to change the music to fit the ambience a bit more and lower the volume a little bit.

A really nice evening with just a few things I wish could have been done differently : 1) my wife is 34 weeks pregnant and they sat us at the most challenging table to get in and out of in the entire dining room. I wish we would have asked for a different table but our booking was already late so we were seated about 10 mins after our reso. The table was so small we could not keep our dishes that we wanted to revisit because there was no real estate. 2) we told the server we were not overly hungry because we had a small meal before ( this was a 9:45pm booking). He suggested we do a tasting and 6 other dishes on the menu. We panicked and just ordered 2 tastings which was in fact enough food to feed 4 people who were really hungry. We left at least half of every dish uneaten only because we wanted to be able to try everything that came out. The server should have truly recommended one tasting and perhaps 1 or 2 other smaller apps. The server kept coming over and saying “you don’t like ?” and so it dampened our experience a bit. Would recommend you not do what we did if you are not ready for a big meal. That said - every dish except one was exceptional. The kid goat was the favorite of both my wife and I. We were the last party to leave but didn’t feel rushed out the door as we finished dessert with an amazing chai tea. Would we come back ? Absolutely - but we are better educated on how best to order knowing the portion sizes much better.

While the food is excellent, I don't think they're unique enough in the London Indian food scene to make their high prices really worth it. The early evening set menu is an exception though and is quite good value for money, even though the selection on that one is quite limited.

Ordered food today and one of the tupperware has leaked causing the bag to break open and food leaked everywhere. Tried calling gymkhana and we've been on hold for ages. My boyfriend called the taxi driver as we can see there were food bits on the road so the bag must have broke when he took it out. What is frustrating is that we still can't get a hold of them.

Gymkhana was a good experience. The food was high end and the price wasn’t as high as I would expect for this location in Mayfair. The dress code is fancy, so dress to impress! The drinks were subpar but the good was AH MAY ZING. I tried the truffle and mushroom biryani - this is super recommended. The butter chicken was beautiful too. Kasoori chicken is also recommended. The Gol Guppa were good! I want to come back and try the tandoori chicken, the next table had this and it looked aosososos good. The wait staff were super nice, a little awkward sometimes, but nice. The ambiance in the restaurant was pleasant and comfortable. Felt very high end and fancy. Really loved it. The only reason for a drop in star is because the hostess was a little pushy, she wanted our table back. It’s not like we were there for long, we stayed a 2 hour max but I went for dinner and catch up with a friend, which we continued afterwards but just felt a little pushed out prior.

Royal Indian feast!! Exceptional food - delicious authentic Indian food, in heartful portions and top of the line service right from the efficient concierge to the knowledgable and warm wait staff. The exterior understated appearance contrasts well with the opulence inside! We had the festive 3-course lunch menu and it over-satiated our soul and tummy.

I was craving for Indian food and stopped here. Unfortunately I don’t have high tolerance for spicy food, so that made it a little bit difficult to choose what I can order but the waiter was very patient and helpful. All the dishes I got was great and choices were perfect in mild spiciness. This place is perfect for date or group outing as ambience is great. Thought it gets overly crowded so I highly recommend to make reservation ahead of time.

Great food and atmosphere! We tried the lunch set menu and everything is great. Vegetarian option available as well. Loved the cocktail and gin we ordered. Service is very attentive and they can tell you more about the food, flavor and history of Indian cuisine. Decor of the restaurant is very memorable too. All in all a great restaurant and a must visit when you are in London.

A sadly average experience for a couple reasons. First and foremost the pricing is outlandish. Listen I get it being high end Indian food or what not, but when you're charging me 12 pounds for a bowl of rice, that's just absurd. There is no realm where that is justified. On to the experience. The service is great, extremely attentive, no complaints there. The restaurant itself is quite busy with multiple levels and many different rooms, it makes for an intimate experience. The food itself is okay. The lamb kheema starter was actually quite good, no complaints. The dal maharani and paneer makhani dish were both just okay. The paneer dish was just overpowered with the taste of elachi (cardamom). I understand a subtle flavor of that, but not a substantial flavor. It was quite disappointing. Even the naan was quite floppy. No real crisp, massively undersalted The only Michelin part of this place is the price. Would not suggest this place for high end Indian food unless you like paying exorbitant amounts for average food. London is a destination for Indian food, this place didn't hit it.

We were lucky to be able to walk in to Gymkhana for dinner when they opened at 5:30. I heard that we got in only a few weeks after they reopened from a fire last year. The food is simply top of the class - I strongly recommend the Chicken 65, butter chicken, and biryani.

Can't rave enough about Gymkhana. It's a journey of delicious traditional Indian food mixed with thoughtful modernization added. Each dish and drink is so thoughtful prepared and presented. What's better than a drink that comes with your own cinnamon stick or your own nutmeg to grind in? The dishes are excellent portion sizes for sharing to be able to taste your way around quite a bit of the menu. Highly recommended as your top Indian food experience in London!

Absolutely incredible restaurant. It seriously feels like walking into something you've only read about in novels. The whole ambiance is very lively without being overbearingly loud, and the service manages to be incredibly fast, friendly and attentive despite all tables being fully booked. Now... the food. I had ordered 4 courses for the utterly low price of £35. First off, I got some various papadums with shrimp and mango chutneys - absolutely marvellous. The papads had the perfect consistency and were excellent vehicles for the chutneys, both of which were just perfectly balanced between savoury, spicy and fruity / sweet without being cloying or acrid. The actual first course was an equally fluffy and crispy dosa which can be lifted off the plate, revealing a perfectly sized portion of intensely spiced duck curry, alongside a small bowl of refreshing coconut chutney. Each of those ingredients being a delight in itself, the dish is certainly more than the sum of its parts, with all the textures and flavours coming together amazingly well in every little self-made wrap. Next, a bowl of luscious and earthy kid goat methi was served alongside toasted, buttery brioche buns as well as some minced raw onions and a whole freshly roasted chili pepper - it's like a DIY sloppy joe slider kit, just way, way better. Do be careful around the chili pepper - I consider myself to be a very seasoned eater when it comes to hot chilis, but this one's really bloody hot - I made the mistake of eating the whole thing at once with some methi and a papadum, and I ended up having to order a mango lassi to cool off. The last savoury course was a very generous portion of pork cheek vindaloo, braised potatoes and dal, served alongside a basket filled with freshly made naan - fluffy, crispy and herbal. Once again, the joy of just tearing the bread into pieces and scooping up a multitude of incredibly flavoursome sauces cannot be overstated - if you like eating with your hands, you'll love this place - which isn't surprising, given its ambition to elevate true Indian home cooking to a level worthy of Michelin praise while skipping on the pretentiousness that many other similarly-priced establishments tend to exude. For dessert, a combination of very sweet black carrot halwa and rose petal ice cream was served with a sesame cracker and some pistachio and chocolate/caramel petit fours. While the halwa was a bit too sweet for my taste - I prefer my desserts either very chocolate-y or more herbal/fresh - I did like the overall combination, especially the rose petal ice cream and the sesame cracker. All in all, this is certainly one of the best - and memorable - meals I've ever had, and I'll be sure to come back during my next visit to London.

(Translated by Google) A luxurious, upscale and sought after Indian restaurant. You must book in advance every day and every hour. Outstanding service! For example, we sat down to eat and during dinner another friend joined the table. The hosts did not know how to respond because they are at a small table but certainly did everything to respond. The food was very tasty but a strong warning to anyone who felt, all the food was delicious but spicy. It is advisable to dress according to the place so as not to feel out of place.

Swish, upmarket curry place with great decor and very attentive staff. Location and quality does mean it's high-end, so one for special occasions. Sampled lots of the food and it was all delicious, would recommend the guinea fowl and paneer.

Outstanding flavours! The staff can’t be more accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere is super down to earth but at the same time it transports you to a different country. The food is so delicious. I recommend it with no doubt!

Well made and delicious traditional food, vegan option. I had a fantastic time with family at this place. Covid safe and attentive service.

Excellent service - everyone was very friendly and helpful. There was a special menu available for people like me who have to eat gluten-free. The food was delicious - we enjoyed all the dishes on the early evening menu, which was very good value. Special mention goes to the chutneys and the spinach and dhal sides that accompanied the main course

This place is my favorite. I visit plenty of restaurants but to this restaurant I keep coming back again and again. The team is very cordial and the cooking they serve is so good. I never decline to have a nice meal in this place. I recommend this place with pleasure.

Definitely the best and authentic Indian food in London. The dishes have a lot of flavour in them. In the mushroom pilaf, one can taste the distinct flavours of truffles and mushrooms. The dal was done to perfection with the garlic taste being just right. The Choley had the right spices and taste being the same as I would eat at home in India or what you’d get in Punjab. The beetroot vada pav was interesting, and with the chutney, tasted nice. Portions are very generous so you feel well catered to. Dessert was quite underwhelming though.

Part 2: they made amends, voucher for £40 and apologized. Rating upgraded to 4* One week on from our Diwali takeaway ck up and no response as yet from anyone. Ordered a takeaway feast for 2 (cost £100 odd) charged £23 on top for delivery (!). Thought sod it, will be a nice treat. The food was nearly an hour late (receipt showed it was picked up at 630, arrived just before 9! Leaves a bitter taste and restaurant reticence in responding to our complaint isnt helping. You have our details (j martin), if you want our custom again then would reply. Food was ok, needed heating up fully as was late but would rather have helped a local business out then pay for 3rd class service from a Michelin starred place.

Medicore at best. If you like gamey meat not available elsewhere then it's (maybe) worth a visit. But if eating normal staple Indian dishes then you will find much better Indian food elsewhere. I had the tasting menu that had many typical "street food" items. I was expecting they would elevate it. They didn't. Service was excellent.

My favourite Indian food restaurant in London, probably nationally. It’s wholly authentic with its food offerings, ambiance and service. A great standard of service without being pretentious or stuffy. Our last visit we dined as a group of 6 as a private dining booking. Everything was COVID safe, the dedicated waiter was very attentive and patient, we had the room for 3 and a half hours without being rushed.

Rude staff, average food. If you aren’t used to Michelin star quality then you may be easily fooled by this restaurant.

  • 1/5 sean D. 3 years ago on Google
What a disappointment. It is above average curry shop with a Michelin star. How they got it i do not know. Service, food and ambience all average. The males in the building had no skill in making you feel anyway welcome. We were stuck in a dark dank basement which could have been anywhere. The first thing out of their mouths was “we want the table back by 7.45” he never even looked up. The French female sommelier knew your stuff and was a lovely person to deal with. Don’t waste your time here.

The food here is great the meat was cooked to perfection succulent and tender. The staff memebers were fantastic and very helpful...menu is a bit limited in choice but whatever you decide to pick you will not be disappointed. My only issue I had was that I was charged for a drink that I did not order. Unfortunately for me I did not notice until I got home later that night for this reason the 5 stars I would of gave for my review is now 4 stars.

Decent food, but nothing that will blow your socks off. The menu descriptions look better than the food actually is. This time, we opted for some Golgopas to start, the jeera water lacked the oomph that you normally find. For mains we had a pork cheek vindaloo which was excellent, however we specifically asked for it to be spicy, but unfortunately the heat barely registered. Service was efficient at best.

Everything was absolutely delicious and service was great - our favourite was the duck egg bhurji! We went as a celebration for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was lovely to get those additional touches to make the celebration all the more special.

Just amazing all round. We had the weekend lunch menu and every course was brilliant. The aloo chat was so morish, the tikka paneer was smoky, spicy and rich all at the same time, and the Goan prawn curry had a zesty punch to it. The portions were just right as well. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable for us all. Will definitely come again!

This was such an amazing experience. Absolutely loved the ambiance, the service was amazing and the food was just unbelievable. We did the tasting menu- veg and the non- veg and it was one of the best meals. Would highly recommend the tasting menu.

Amazing place and lovely atmosphere. Great staff. The food is amazing. Its on the spicy side and full of flavour. The mango lassi needs a bit more sweetness. Will definitely visit again. The Shrimp side and the lamb roganjosh is a must try.

Amazing food and deserving Michelin star. We went for Aloo Chat, Goan Cafrean Salmon Tikka, Beetroot Chops Pao for starters. Then we had yummy Goan Prawn Curry and finger licking Kid Goat Methi Keema, Salli, Pao with Dal Lasuni, Saag Makai, Rice and Bread Basket for Mains. The Saffron Pistachio Kulfi Falooda and the Cardamom and Basmati Rice Kheer was made to perfection. Overall, very professional and smiling staff who took much effort to explain all the food and went beyond expectations. Nicely located in walking distance to Green Park.

The best Indian meal I've ever experienced. You get a warm welcome as soon as you get through the door and the service remains top class the entire way through the meal. My highlights were the Patiala Fried Chicken and the Pork Cheek Vindaloo but everything I tried was fantastic. Two members of our party had the tasting menu and enjoyed every dish. Great portion sizes too!

What a great restaurant. We felt very welcome as we were guided to the private dining room downstairs through the elegant and hip hallway. Once seated, we were served by a great waiter. The service is subtle, knowledgeable and very kind. As we wanted to taste all the restaurant had to offer, we took the tasting menu and the vegetarian tasting menu. All of the food made sense. Great fresh ingredients, fresh spices and a fantastic presentation. This Indian food is second to none. Balance is the major thing that stood out for me. Spicy food with great Yoghurt dishes. At the end, taking both menus was too much, but the staff was more than willing to pack our leftovers which we had for lunch the next day. This is truly a great restaurant which we will visit again when we are in the area.

Amazing Indian food, they offered a full vegetarian tasting menu but they also had a lunch menu woth veggie options for each course. Waiters were extremely nice and friendly and helped us with our food choices. It was a great place to celebrate a special occasion.

While booking our trip to London, we made sure to reserve an vegetarian tasting menu at Gymkhana. The restaurant has an beautiful ambiance with various rooms. We were seated downstairs. Our waiter was very professional and helpful in explaining the menu. Cocktails were delicious. Our food arrived in an timely manner and every single dish was filled with an abundance of flavor. Going with the vegetarian tasting menu, allowed us to try various types of dishes vs a La cart! Would highly recommend this! From NYC to London, thank you for an wonderful experience Gymkhana

Beautiful atmosphere, decor and a touch of elegance. Located in Mayfair you expect nothing less. Food was delicious and certainly of a high standard. Only disappointment was the service charge was excessive and we was charged for tea at the end after having asked for the bill (which amounted in excess of £880). It just would a been a nice gesture to give it on the house. That said the masala tea was another level too!

One must absolutely go here. Plan in advance and get a reservation. Everything is done to perfection. The decor, cutlery, service and food of-course. Each dish was perfect, absolutely the best Indian food (outside India). The flavours, spices were so well balanced. Methi malai mattar is to die for. It is a must go in London.
