We love this place. The food is perfect not enough good Indians around. Food 5* service 5* can't do enough for you

First visit. Excellent special lunch menu - couldn't believe portion sizes, struggled to finish very tasty meal. Very friendly and not over-attentive staff. Will definitely return.

Called in for 'lunch for one' while my daughter was shopping. I have never been here before but would definitely recommend it, the food was delicious, and the staff friendly. Very enjoyable lunch, well done!!

We'd never came here before, but tonight we'd booked a table at zeera but when we got there we basically had people sitting on our knees and i got overwhelmed so walked out and went to cafe india instead. And I am SO GLAD we did. It was the best curry weve had on on ocean Road, the peshwari naan was so good I could have just eaten it on its own. I didn't see a Sri Lanka on the menu (I might have just missed it) but they made it anyway and it was delicious. The wine was decent priced and honestly the best pickle tray we've had. After trying all the curry houses on ocean Road this is the one we'll be making our regular. The resturant itself is nicely decorated and cosy, the spaces between tables are nice and music volume is perfect 👌 Staff were lovely too Thank you!

This meal must be one of the worst Curry's we have ever had. When I think back when my wife and I used to dine in at the Cafe India and depart thoroughly enjoying the experience to what we have had this evening were poles apart. This is the first time we have had a meal from here for a long time usually frequenting the Crown of India which I must say will be returning to it next week. So sad.

Probably the best curry house in Shields at the moment. Authentic food, well balanced, accurate spicing guide. Friendly staff, reasonably priced. So far had the balti, saag and madras, all of which have been great. Good selection of contemporary and traditional dishes. Would definitely recommend. A bit spicier than some of the others!

Amazing food with really friendly staff. Generous portions and if you can't finish it they pack it up so that you can take it home. Good valued meal deal for £11. Highly recommend.

I ordered a curry from here and although it was tasty there was a bone left in my chicken tikka and it completely put me off. I though my tooth had cracked. Won't be ordering again. I left my meal!

First time we have been. Smallish cosy restaurant, music not too loud, volume just right Very friendly staff and fast service.Food was absolutely great quality with decent size portions and kids meals were spot on. I don't usually leave reviews but I feel this restaurant deserves to be highlighted as a great restaurant.

We booked a last minute table for 10 yesterday and we were all thrilled with the standards @ Cafe India. The service was impeccable, all of the orders were correct and without any fuss. Most importantly the food was an easy 10/10. Having been to 2 other curry houses recently on Ocean Road and been very disappointed in food but more so the staff making us feel like an inconvenience, I can say the guys here were top drawer. Huge appreciation to all of the staff for making it such a pleasurable evening.

Back to an old favourite first time back since 2017. Greeted by the door by a first class Gentleman first time in a long while since I saw him last. Food cooked to perfection the place lively suggest people come down to Ocean 🌊 road 🛣️ and sample the various restaurants on offer but make Café India your port of call first once you have been here you will always Go back to Café India 🤝🙌👊✊🙌.I would also like to say the Staff at Café India do look after you always asking if everything is ok and if the food is nice. To me the best Indian on Ocean 🌊 road the place had a revamp since we where in last time a few years ago and the place looks absolutely fabulous. So we will be coming back 10 out of 10 service with a smile in a nutshell to all those folks visiting Ocean 🌊 road 🛣️ and wanting to try an Indian restaurant come into Café India you won't be disappointed it's TOP Notch food is to Die for 🙏😍👄🤝🙌👏

Came for lunch today, we had mixed kebab starter and cafe tuk tuk, main chicken and mushroom curry and wife had chicken chilli Baltic and a chilli kema naan. All lovely luch well stuffed and lads are always canny in here. Would defo recommend.

The food is always amazing, and the service and atmosphere are very welcoming.

Top quality food. Chicken pakora came crispy and well seasoned, tandoori king prawns tasted really fresh and the lamb in the curry was tender and cooked to perfection.

The restaurant is warm and welcoming, the staff are great and it's even better to see the owner taking orders and talking to the customers, food is delicious, I drive 30 minutes out to come here it's definitely worth a visit if your close

I love this place and so do my friends who visit from down South. Staff are amazing, kind, welcoming, attentive without being too much they get it just right..the food..wow just wow, authentic fresh and sooo tasty, in fact I’m on my way there now to celebrate a 60th Birthday 🎁 xx

Yet again another brilliant meal wife said it was the best one she has had I travel from Sunderland to pick it up because there just isn’t a better Indian restaurant food in the north east !!

Tried this restaurant on an off chance a few weeks ago and it is by far the best on ocean road always made to feel welcome staff are lovely and you get well looked after the food is amazing and beautifully presented the pickles and everything is just amazing we will defiantly be using this restaurant from now on …

called on a sunday night and was well impressed such a clean tidy well kept place ..wish my house was as clean ! the food was really good i had a pathia and was cooked very well the sweet and sour flavours really stood out ..will definitely call again would recommend 🤗

First went to Cafe India many years ago... Visited again and still a brilliant restaurant. Good value Sunday lunch menu. Tarka dhal was amazing.

The food was good. Service was good. No complaints at all from perspective. 4 star only because the set menu deal (starter, main and icecream) isn't available on a Saturday. We've eaten at other restaurants on Ocean Road who's curries are equally good, but you get a better deal with the set menu.

Excellent customer service as well as excellent food. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and everything we ordered was full of flavour! Will definitely be returning to this fantastic restaurant

We had a meal here last night and it was fantastic. Probably one of the best curries Iv had. The staff were very polite, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. All in all an excellent place to visit and enjoy a very good meal. We will definitely be back.

Chicken tikka masala lovely, bhuna was nice as well. The downside was the chips they aren't proper chips and was like half cooked roast potatoes. Please do proper chips. Would go again just wouldn't have chips with food. Also the pilau rice all we could taste was the perfume stick that they have in it very strong flavour and off putting.

My takeaways were so delicious, the garlic chilli chicken couldn't be equalled. Happy Madras Chicken in a class of its own. 28/8/2023 I've just had Cafe Tuk Tuk starters and Bengali Tarkari ( staff curry) truly amazing food. Great chefs

Good food reasonably priced

Sat night, it was packed, we had booked so shown straight to our table for 8pm. Service and food first class. We started with pickle tray and popadoms, my main was lamb pathia with nut pilau rice, fabulous. My lady had plain lamb curry with veg pilau, again lovely, and peshwari naan. You get so much food, you really have to be hungry.

Takeaway during COVID-19. Thanks to Cafe India. The food was delicious and if possible even more fresh. The order and collection was dealt with in a super friendly, safe way. The best Indians on ocean road, can't wait to go back to the restaurant.

We visited this restaurant during the covid virus. The tables were well spaced out with screens between tables. The cutlery was brought out to you . The staff all wore masks which did not deter them from their work. They were friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and piping hot. I will go again🍲👍☺️

Been eating at cafe India for nearly 20 years since it opened. Always a delicious meal with friendly hospitable staff. We often get a takeaway meal from here too always first class delicious food and generous portions. Best food in South Shields by far.

My family are eating at the Indian Restaurants on Ocean Rd, Cafe India is our 10th. We all agree that this is definitely the best by far. The restaurant is very well presented. The staff were all so friendly, happy and very professional. The food was excellent, presentation was lovely. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We will return shortly.
