REPORTED TO FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY - DANGEROUS IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES OR DIETARY NEEDS! I called in advance to ask if they cater for vegans. I was assured that my curry would be made vegan and even added it to the notes section of the order to make sure as I have an intolence to dairy having been vegan for three years. My VEGAN curry had PANEER (cheese) in it - I am now dealing with the consequences of my dairy intolerance with an upset stomach and sickness! You'd think that was bad enough, my friend then found MEAT in her VEGETARIAN curry!!!!!! We called right away and spoke to a horrible, unhelpful and rude lady called Mel. She accused us of lying, told us (a vegan and vegetarian) we were the ones who added meat to our curry, that paneer is tofu (when tofu isn't on their menu and it was 100% cheese) and that Indian cheese doesn't contain dairy which was an outright lie and I even had to read the Google definition to her on the phone! She was shouting, made an offensive comment about her own staff, "well he is foreign but he knows what he's doing", lied multiple times about what allergens their food contains and treated us like liars. Reporting to Food Standards Agency immediately and highly insist that all with allergies, dietary requirements or just common sense stay away!!!!!!

A Passage To India is an AMAZING restaurant. The food is exceptional and fresh! They're definitely one of the best places I've ever had the good fortune to eat at! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the chefs do a brilliant job with the cooking! I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Wonderful food. Wonderful service. Special appreciation for the lady who waited our table. She came running behind me when i left my phone on the table and walked out. She ran for about 50meters to hand the phone to me. Food was good. Not very Indian but desi style.

Atmosphere was pretty bland. Maybe traditional music would be nice... Booked a table of 12 for 7pm... One waitress. Didn't get our main meals til at least 9pm. Super slow drink service despite all being bottled lager. Drinks super pricey. Portions were overall quite small but acceptable. Food was decent. Based on tonight's performance I will never be coming back to this restaurant. Considering it's long-standing reputation as very good. Tonight's showing was terrible.

Chicken biryani with vegetable curry and a peshwari naan on the side. Lovely food, decent amount of chicken compared to other places. Ordered online to collect, ready in 15 minutes. Very friendly family run restaurant/takeaway.

Really lovely restaurant we visited when in Ipswich. Friendly and helpful staff, the main hostess (and I think manager) was really helpful in recommending dishes and it meant we tried different items than we usually would. A little dated inside, but it also adds to the homeliness. We felt a little rushed at the end, but apart from that great food. I recommend the Kushboo curry :)

the staff are polite, it is clean. They forgot our nan bread so we decided to take it home. They charged for containers to take the left overs home, and charged extra on our groupon meal to have the puree on a chicken puree. Also the food needed a bit more flavour. i have been there twice and they forgot the nan both times, even though they were not too busy.

Very long wait for service and for food. When meals came they were just warm. My dish was a chicken dish with a boiled egg. I had No chicken and three eggs. Others were missing key elements to their dish. When we asked for a discount for the unsatisfactory meals and service the manager replied that it was poor because it was busy and then took in a tirade of anger against the lady in our group Who she felt had the audacity to raise the issue. Sadly this was our favourite restaurant. We won’t be going back. It seemed that take away were their focus as other diners having the same experience. We are a friendly bunch so didn’t want a fuss But her handling of the situation was shocking. appalling customer service and toxic attitude. The new waitress was lovely And bubbly and I hope She is recognised as Doing a Good job.

Our group of 4 sailors had an excellent meal, and I must praise the staff for their prompt and above all friendly service. Thoroughly recommended.

Small team dinner. Staff were lovely, very friendly family atmosphere. Food was authentic decent portions and really good. Good value for money. We left with a full belt and a smile on our faces. This place is a gem that I’d definitely recommend.

It was our favorite restaurant 10 years ago and we came again to Ipswich to visit it again. The owners has changed , the decor is the same, food honestly didn’t disappoint BUT the service was rushed not welcoming and we were ushered out just before closing time and after politely asking for some dessert we were told that they are closing even though there were still people waiting for their food. Standard restaurant etiquette is to go around each table and ask for their last orders before the kitchen closes. We wanted some kulfi ice cream which they said we don’t have any but didn’t offer anything else in return and promptly asked us to leave. Good food but experience was ruined at the end due to the poor service.

Visited the restaurant for the first time with my husband and experienced the best customer service and the most delicious food. We were visiting Ipswich and someone recommended this restaurant for us to try out. This will be our go to Indian restaurant anytime we visit Ipswich again.

There was 20 of us, we had pre booked and given main orders a week in advance and we arrived on time at 6.30 when it was empty, but food took 2 hours to come out! Far too long, delayed our pub crawl. Food OK and priced well but no way makes up for slow service, even getting a bottle beer took an age.

Ordered via Uber and was utterly disappointed with the food. It tasted good but the portion was minuscule. Had a king prawns makani ( 1 tablespoon of prawns cut in halves)curry which look like a Korma. Lamb meetha tasted good but about a tablespoon of lamb. Containers were huge but just full of sauce. The only good thing about the delivery was that it was extremely quick!!!

A small group that we’re staying at Ipswich marina visited and dined last night, with scrumptious food, most attentive service and menu prices that were most affordable. I would highly recommend this establishment, I understand that the recent covid plague has had a negative effect on the passage to India, and am very sorry to hear of their problems . However they are still there still open, and ready for your custom. Enjoy the food, we did!👍🥰

Great food as always in the restaurant and through take away, I've had to give 4*s instead of 5 as after ordering for our six guests tonight one meal didn't arrive and after constant ringing and being put through to a full mailbox we eventually got through and was told everyone had gone home when the website said open until 10pm! The lady did say we would be compensated our missing meal to which I thought was a total insult as we have been customers for many years. :(

The staff were attentive and very generous and really looked after me and my family on my birthday. Food was delicious and came really quickly. Once again, I can only say wonderful things about the waitress and hospitality. Definitely be coming back.

Waited over 2 hours for food. Phoned restaurant over 20 times when they finally answered told me to collect as driver hadn’t picked up order. Finally got home with cold food. Food worst Indian food I have ever eaten. Far too much salt. Sloppy, naan undercooked and doughy , saag aloo like sloppy salty mush. Couldn’t eat tikka masala was disgusting. Just about managed to eat half my korma but far too sloppy and salty. Will Never order from here again.

After getting the suggestion by someone me and my husband bumped into, we turned up without a reservation and was instantly greeted with a smile when apologising that our visit was spontaneous. We were shown to our table and offered some poppadoms and asked what drinks we wanted to start off with straight away. After only a little wait whilst eating and drinking, we were ready to order our mains. We aren't fussy with what we eat and love trying new things so, we told the waitress the flavours we liked, spice tolerance etc and said that we would leave the dishes for her to order for use. Let's say, she didn't disappoint. Would highly recommend for people to visit and experience the lovely, friendly atmosphere and delicious food. X
