BEST masala chips in town! The other curries had a food variety of size and flavour, but I'd get a wide mix of curries, otherwise it feels samey. The naan were true to their flavour and the staff handled the serving well considering it was Eid and busy.

Oh my yum! ❤ I popped in as a single diner, let down by a poor hotel restaurant and found this gem! Lovely, friendly staff and amazing food. Fresh, spicy and tasty! I was blown away and will be back!

It was busy and they seemed panicked. Feels like they need more staff to take food orders. They include a service charge but the service isn’t great. The food comes quickly and is pretty good - like your local takeaway. The curries don’t have a lot of curry. The salmon starter was a bit dry. The chicken tikka was juicy.

One of the best restaurants Newcastle has to offer, we attended as a stag party and although there was a mix up with the bookings (on our side) they happily accommodated for a large group. All the food was fantastic with no one complaining, I went for the spiciest curry they had ‘Not so Jalfreezi’ and I wasn’t let down, really hot but loads of flavour which is difficult to balance. What really blew me away was the service, it’s so rare to find great food and even better service. The servers were friendly but professional, it’s a little more pricey than some competitors but when you take the quality in to consideration you can totally understand why. Highly recommend.

This is the worst restaurant I came across in Newcastle. 1. Being an Indian and after reading the reviews I expected that the foood will be the authentic Indian food but sorry to say that the food which was served was totally a joke😡 2. Dal Makhni was dry half cooked and tasted like boiled dal with some salt on it… 3. Butter chicken was prepared in half cook ginger garlic and tomato paste. Mr. Chef please learn to cook first rather than making fool of the English people here. Dont spoil the name and authenticity of Indian food. 4. OMG and what should I say about the waiting period if the customer visit there empty stomach then the person will faint in hunger 👍👏 1 hr for table and then 30-45 min for food). 5. Onion pilau was Onion + white rice and some oil on it really 😕 Now comes the good part 1. Garlic Nan 2. 3 way chicken tikka thats all

The food was very flavorful. We split the lamb kashmiri goshat and the kabli channa. That was just enough for the two of us. I would eat here again when visiting Newcastle. Convenient location next to the hotel we were staying at.

Came here for a special occasion date. The starters were delicious. Lassi was also very good (couldn’t find it on the menus but they did have it, just ask). All food was very tasty and the interior great for date night (appears to have been updated since the photos on here). Only downside was it seemed we were a bit forgotten. Me and my date certainly enjoyed talking to each other but were waiting quite awhile between the starter and main course, and then after eating while we waited for requested takeaway boxes. We came on a Friday night but it didn’t seem so busy that there would have been such a delay. The server was apologetic and very lovely. Overall I would come here again.

It's been far too long since I was at Sachins, so I had huge expectations of the restaurant as my last visit was incredible. It's really difficult to believe that the venue, the food and the unforgettably brilliant service are even better! I really can't rate the restaurant highly enough. Our party consisted of a wide age range (from 25 to 78 years old), so finding somewhere to keep everyone happy was going to be difficult, but Sachins achieved it with aplomb. This really is some of the finest food you will find anywhere, whilst the service is both ultra professional, yet charismatic in a way that few establishments can achieve. Highly recommend.

With the meat curries, the curry to meat ratio is not good and wastes alot of curry. Got the samosa chaat which is delicious. And lamb curry and chicken curry with a side of garlic naan which I love

We found the food to be very dry. The service was ok, but having to queue in the doorway while our pre-booked table was prepared was a bit of a surprise. The front of house staff work hard to make up for any shortcomings...

Love Sachins! The food as usual did not disappoint. I had a delicious lamb dish which was described as mild spice, and thankfully it was. ( I'm a one step up from a Korma! ) Service was very good with the staff being polite and friendly. Bobby, our waiter was lovely, engaging and funny.

Five stars. Just visit here and make your own judgement. You will not be disappointed. Meat eaters, pescatarians, veggies and vegans collide. Amazing food, amazing service, huge bar, full of beers wines and spirits. Realistic prices for the quality of food. Very high standards. I had the black bean curry (no meat or dairy). Really tasty and ordered some fresh chilli on the side with no problem. Dishes are fresh, well balanced and tasty. 100% recommenced and it’s just off the town centre. Also offers take away and s lovely drink while your food is cooked in the bar / wanting area.

Absolutely fantastic service tonight, first time we've been in and it won't be the last. The food was tremendous! I had the Jalfrezi and it was deliciously hot 😁 thanks again for the great service.

Food was great! Loved every bite. Not usually an onion bhaji fan as I find them too stodgy but gave the onion pakora a go and they were anything but stodgy. The curries were rich and flavoursome. Service was with a big smile, very friendly. We were very early diners so the first course took a while to get going but the staff acknowledged the delay and apologised - it was really no problem for us though.

Food was ok, came in good time, I found it odd the rice was on a plate. Not big portions. Needs to invest in the decor. I personally probably wouldn't go back. also a service charge of £7.20 for 2 people which I thought was weird, I would have tipped

What an absolute disgrace of an establishment. Took 2 and a half hours to serve us. Half came out first and the other half of the group had to wait a further half an hour. Upon questioning why this was the case the manager had the audacity to claim it was our fault for not sharing the first wave of food despite everyone making their own orders. To top it all off the food was average at best. I will never step foot in this establishment again and would strongly advise others don't.

Nice food at Sachins. Situated at the back of the Newcastle train station, you enter via a small lobby, and are shown to your table. Service was good, and drinks were regularly brought to our table. Good selection of dishes available, although one of our orders was incorrect and we had to send it back which was a little disappointing. Overall, an enjoyable evening.

Unfortunately we were rudely received by the elder waiter who said he was from Egypt. He was extremely rude and failed to listen. He wanted to be the centre of attention. The rest of the waiting team were good but that man left us highly frustrated

I had 2 bad experiences here. One was 5 years ago when I was loving in Newcastle. When I came to the restaurant and he knew I was Arabic, he said we don't have Hala food. 2023, I had a chance to go back to Newcastle, and I thought to go agin to this restaurant. I called them to book a table , and the manager said yes, we had a table for 2, come to 8 p.m. when I arrived me and my wife and I tried not to give a table. After thats he gave a table and ignored it for 30 minutes. Then he came and took order. After that we were waiting for 30 minutes , and finally started to come. After finishing starts, we waiting for 45 mint no main course. The issue was that he served all other tables, even though the ppl came after us. I saud to manager this is not acceptable, I guess I should cancel the order. Immediately, he said OK. No apology, no even professional behaviour. I don't know if this is a kind of discrimination or if he is picky for the claint. I won't never recommend ppl who visit Newcastle, especially Arab

My expectations were very high for this place, as were the 3 people who I went with . Can't fault the food, it was excellent..However, the service was shockingly bad.. Waiting ages for courses to arrive..and when the main course arrived..They still hadn't cleared the starter plates. Didn't find the staff particularly pleasant either...Its a shame, as the food was top drawer..but we'll certainly not be going again

Hadn't been for a while since we left Newcastle but it was as good as we remembered. Food was superb and beautifully prepared and served hot. Portions were big and the Sachins Tandoori stater was delicious. Bobby was friendly and welcoming even after all this time he remembered us. Still think this is the best food we have had in an Indian restaurant. We will be back some time.

Totally disappointed. I thought this place would do authentic Indian/ panjabi food. But I was fully disappointed. I had Indian food all over the country, I know Indian food just like back of my hands. But to be honest that was worst experience I have ever had. I ordered lam korahi which supposed to be medium nice spice in thick sauce. But that was absolutely full of spiced just because they used over ingredients in it. Which made it too spicy without any flavour! Portion size was small too. There was only few pieces of meat and rest was sauce! Water glasses was dirty once I asked to changed it, the staff wasn’t happy with that. It wasn’t even busy in that time. The guy who served us food he was rude too. Overall that was a bad experience. Never ever come again.

Below average food, my companion's chicken dish was Watery and tasted like an Uncle Ben's Curry sauce and my own lamb dish was very salty. The 2 stars are for the starters, which were a bit better than the mains.

First of all the service was fantastic, they really catered for us and even moved us to better seating when a table became available. The food was nice, no complaints at all, I thought I would try something different than I would usually get (lal goshat) and it didn't disappoint. Keema naan was also great. Hot plates was a nice touch.

  • 1/5 Alan O. 1 year ago on Google
Very disappointing experience overall. First of all took about 25-30 mins for anyone to take our order, and then about an hour and a half for our main meals to arrive, despite us asking several times to order, with the server mumbling a response and just walking off. People who sat down well after us got their meals well before us. When the food arrived not only was it luke warm but the portions were small and tasted like a tesco ready meal. The fact that we had to chase staff several times about the status of our food despite us having a small order and the restaurant not that busy (especially when we first sat down) is unacceptable. The table next to us also had to chase down missing food items. After all these issues they added on a service charge and at that point we just wanted to leave. We didn’t even finish our food. They could have knocked off money for the wait and poor service instead of adding a tip for themselves. We see eating out as a treat, but this was so disappointing and we do not recommend this restaurant to others - we wish we read the other one star reviews before we spent our money here, because we totally agree with them!

Based solely on food this would be a 5 star rating but after our experience with the owner had to knock it down to 1 star. We went last night for restaurant week, booked a table for 15 at 6pm a week in advance, it was a family meal out for the 1 year anniversary of losing our Auntie. Got there and the staff seemed lovely. We were shown up to our table and as our party started to arrive we asked the waiter for the restaurant week menu, he said he would have to ask the owner about it which I thought was a little strange. When he came back with the owner to our table the owner was not happy to say the least. He was very angry and said that we had not informed him when we booked that we wanted restaurant week and if he had of known he wouldn’t have taken the booking at all. It doesn’t state anywhere that there is a limit on the table size or that we had to inform the restaurant that we wanted restaurant week. He then said we had to hurry up and order as he wanted us out by 7:45! We were still waiting on people to arrive as they couldn’t get parked nearby and we still hadn’t looked at the menu. He stormed off very unhappy with our table. He was just as rude when he came back to take our orders. The staff were very rude when bringing drinks and food over to us for the rest of the evening. It was like we were an inconvenience. As the owner of the restaurant I think it’s completely ridiculous to speak to paying guests like this, our bill was still over £350, it’s not like we didn’t order drinks and sides. It put a massive dampener on what was already a very bitter sweet gathering for us. If it wasn’t for his attitude and the way we were treated I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing and we all tried something we wouldn’t normally try with the options on the restaurant week menu. Everything as delicious even down to the pickle trays. So food 5 stars amazing, staff not so much!

Outstanding restaurant. Been wanting to come here for a while and was not disappointed. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere, you are able to have a relaxing meal here. Pleased that we had booked a table.

Fantastic food. Great service. Toilet facilities you could live in. All in all a great restaurant. The £50 for two banquet menu is a bargain. Good portion sizes. Value for money. The only downside is its a bit out of the way. Tucked away sort of behind Newcastle Central Station.

I visited Sachins with my wife during the January restaurant week and I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. From the moment we walked into the restaurant the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We never felt rushed to order and the customer service was excellent throughout. The menu was great for myself as I have a dairy allergy. All of the allergens in each dish were listed as were options to make a dish 'dairy free'. I knew exactly which dishes would be suitable for myself and there was a good selection of dishes available for me to choose. The food itself was delicious and for £15 per head for a starter, main and side dish represented really really good value....both myself and my wife finished our meal full with no room to even consider a dessert. My wife had a king prawn curry which smelt amazing (Unfortunately I couldn't try it due to the dairy content) and the amount of prawns in the dish was very very good. I had a staff chicken curry myself which was equally full of meat and the spicing of the dish was 1st class. Loved it. I will definitely be back in the near future. Thank you for a great meal.

I often call in for lunch at Sachins and have never been disappointed. The quality of food and the welcoming and professional staff always make it a most enjoyable visit . The menu offers many dishes that are not available elsewhere and the staff are always happy to recommend something to suit your taste .

Went with friends as my husband had been a few weeks previous and had a brilliant meal. However, we were very dissapointed when we tasted the meal. Bearing in mind both my husband and I love salt, this was so salty we couldn't eat it. My husband had had the same meal previously but said it bore no resemblance. We told the waiter who said this had happened before and would refer to the manager. The manager was very very nice and apologised tho couldn't explain how salty all 4 meals were and how different from previous visit. The cost of the meals were deducted, but left us starving and dissapointed.
