ancient temple complex at sirpur, this is huge complex made out of stones, where you have to climb few stairs(CAUTION:steps are quite small and uneven) to reach at top and at the top few temples are there; all of Lord Shiva with different facing except one of Lord Ganesha. at the bottom of complex one platform is there for performing rituals and worship.

Surang Tila is originally a temple and located in Sirpur, in the Mahasamund District. It is established by Mahasivagupta Balarjuna in 7th Century. It is constructed in the panchayatan style of Temple architecture. There are three tantric temples dedicated to Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Surang tila is a beautiful place. It is perfect place for photography and videography. If you like ancient art, it is wonderful place for you. Because of this place doesn't have that much crowd, you can wonder peacefully.

Beautiful place of historical importance it is carved and built of white and grey stone. At a height accessible by wide staircase built in stone, are located Lord Ganesha and Shivalinga of ancient time. Stairs may not be each to climb for old people. Must visit place in Sirpur.

It's a beautiful ancient temple and a must-visit place in Sirpur. The temple was built by Mahasivagupta Balarjun in 7th century AD and has been constructed in the panchayatan style of temple architecture, with the main temple in the centre and four temples in the corner. The main temple has five sanctums, four of which had four different types of Shiva lingas for worship. The remaining sanctum contains a Ganesh idol. The complex area has three tantric temples in a platform, dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

Among all the attractions discovered at this uncommercialised site called 'Sirpur' the 'Surang Tila' stands unique for its amzing structure. It is a huge triple pyramidal structure made of white stones with a platform of about 30-35 feet height. The staircase to the platform has a unique design which may have been caused due to some earcthquake in the past. There are around 8 small temples once you reach on the top of the platform and most of them are devoted to Lord Shiva. There are sculptures on all the pillars most of which are half broken now. This structure must have been a significant religious institution of this place in its prime time. Sirpur is a must visit place if you are in Raipur and have half a day to spare. And if you are in Sirpur then Surang Tila is one of the things not to be missed.

I felt I am in Egypt after witnessing the beauty. Additional info- these are Bodhist monuments.

One of the few structures of the ancient town of Sirpur which was not destroyed in 11th century earth quake which ruined the whole city of Sirpur. Reason being that the stones used to built the temple structure were joined by some kind of Ayurvedic paste. The aftermath of the earthquake can be seen on the stairs which are curved at both ends. The temple was built somewhere between the 7th and 8th century.

Surang Tila is a miracle on its own, this thousands of years old monument has also made it to an episode of History Tv, the shape of stairs is curved on both ends due to an earthquake, but the brilliant engineering helped to keep the structure intact. Must visit places in Sirpur.
