Pataleshwar Kedar Temple is one where the Gomukhi Shivling is the main attraction. It is in the list of "Ancient monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains of National Importance" maintained by Archaeological Survey of India - Government of India. Just like any other temples which is dedicated to lord Shiva a Nandi in placed infront of temple. There are many other sculpture remains in the premises of Pataleshwar Kedar Temple which also has lord Ganesh. There is also a museum itself in the premises of Pataleshwar Kedar Temple set up by the archeological survey of India maintained by Government of India. The other sculpture and excavation found in Malhar is kept in museum. The tourist may relaxed in the garden of Pataleshwar Kedar Temple and enjoy the fast food and other local cuisine outside the premises of Temple. Altogether the place is a attraction for the tourist, historiain, students, travellers and for devotees.

Such an important temple to visit and explore splendid carvings of ancient era. Malhar has so much to offer for history lovers, beside this the ruins of fort can be explored with Duer temple. Information source ASI An inscription dated A.D. 1167-68 records that the main temple of Patalesvara Mahadeva, dedicated to Kedara (Shiv) in Mallala (modern Malhar), was built by a Brahman, native of Kumhati during the reign of Jajalladev of the Haihaya dynasty. The temple is built on a high platform and consists of a square sanctum and a mandapa. The garbhagriha housing a shivlinga is placed at a lower level than the mandapa.

It's be said temple in Malhar, Chhatisgarh. Well first of I would like to acknowledgement the huge amount of ancient shrines & artifacts with beautiful enscriptions ; being said that cons are none of it is maintained making it look like a ruins from battle ground , if you love historical things then you'd definitely feel sad about the condition in which buddha & panch mukhi Ganesha murtis have been kept under the sky with no proper arrangements , loss of heritage is apt term for the place & with no tourist guide you feel leaveing the premises asap.

Malhar is a 40 km drive from Bilaspur. It is situated on the route of Bilaspur-Raigarh, 14 km from Masturi Block. Also known as Saravpur, it was once the capital of Chhattisgarh. It is famous for its archaeological sites. Pataleshwar Temple, Devri Temple and Dindeshwari Temple are some of the ancients temples of the 10th and 11th centuries found here. Memorials of Jain religion have been excavated from this place. Vishnu's four-handed idol is what attracts tourists. Ancient remains from 1000 BC to Kalchuri dynasty have been found at this site. Pataleswar Kedar Temple owns a gomukhi Shivaling which is the centre of attraction. Didneswari Temple belongs to the Kalchuri regime. Also, the Deor Temple has spellbinding artistic idols.

This is the best place in Malhar to visit to under the ancient Kalchurian impact. The craves display various mudras around the temple. Only disappointment is the there is no roof protection for the excavated stones .

This place represents the glorious past of Chhattisgarh and rich cultural heritage. The Pataleshwar Temple is one of its kind. The place holds a very deep historical value and shows the architectural advancement of its time.. The temple also has a small museum, which exhibits the unique art and architecture made by the past rulers. The Shiva Lingam installed in the temple has its own significance, as the name says, Pataleshwar (The God of Pataal Lok or the underworld). The minute details and design carved out of the rock is very beautiful and one can say it's a work of high quality art and Indian culture's architecture. If you are near this place, make some time to visit.

In Malhar, many ancient temples have been found, such as the Pataleshwar temple, the Devri temple & the Dindeshwari temple. Ancient deposits and jain memorials were also found here. The four handed idol of Vishnu is significant. The remains found here are of the period from approximately 1000 BCE to the Ratnapura Kalachuri regime. Temples of the 10th and 11th centuries are also conspicuous. Among them, the Pataleshwar Kedar temple is one, where the Gomukhi Shiv ling is the main attraction.
