sirpur has been place of hault and meditation of Gautam Buddha, and proofs of same thing can be found on this monastery which is solely dedicated to Buddha. entrance gate is quite interesting where you will find stories of panchatantra on walls.

The town of sirpur has been mentioned in ancient epigraphic records, dating back to the 5th to the 8th centuries A.D. Drained by the pristine waters of the Mahanadi and facing the Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary on the Northeast, Sirpur is a small town, 84 kms from the capital, Raipur. Moving along from Raipur, one reaches Arang, from where one goes to Tumgaon. A road from here leads northwards, to Sirpur. It is an enriching experience to see how life goes on in these quiet villages, without getting affected by the hustle - bustle of the outside world.

Teevardev Buddhist monastery with a very cool ambiance all over. There are fruiting trees with ample of greenary and cool environment. And yes there are very clean public toilets inside the premises. And yes all of it is accessible for Handicapped people as well.

Nice place. Archeological site. ASI has taken efforts to safeguard the place. Neat and clean. However, needs more care. The history of CG's great kings and their dynasties need telling to the world. One again I request everybody to help keep the place neat and clean.

Historical remain of the Buddhist monastery. Chinese traveler Huen Tsang supposedly visited this place as well. The elaborate water system of the building is also visible. Call a guide if you are more curious from the number posted outside.

This buddhist monastery is one of the 100 monasteries that existed in Sirpur during the reign of Dakshin kosla kingdom. Although the kingdom was ruled by a Hindu ruler but still he built many Buddhist monasteries and Teevardev monastery is one of those. Sirpur has a rich history dating back to the 4th century and is one of the most underrated tourist spots of Chhattisgarh.
