The
Ashtavinayak
(literally
translated
to
8
Ganesh
temples)
hold
particular
significance
in
the
many
different
Ganesh
temples
in
Maharashtra.
The
Pali
Ballaleshwar
Mandir
is
one
of
the
Ashtavinayak
temples.
It
is
located
in
Pali
village,
which
is
off
the
Mumbai-Goa
highway.
The
hill
fort
Sarasgad
is
right
in
Pali
village
and
the
famous
hill
fort
of
Sudhagad
is
near
to
Pali.
The
temple
itself
is
pretty
old
and
nicely
maintained.
The
surroundings
are
clean
and
there
are
informative
boards
around
the
place
that
explain
the
mythological
and
historical
significance
of
the
place.
Right
behind
the
temple
is
a
fairly
deep
kund
(pond)
which
holds
water
right
up
to
the
summer
months.
Along
the
pathway
to
the
temple
are
several
sweet
shops
selling
prasad.
Try
the
pedas
that
they
sell
and
ask
for
the
one
with
less
or
no
sugar.
They
are
fresh
and
very
tasty.
You
will
also
find
many
shops
that
sell
special
Konkan
eatables
like
home-made
papads.
The
temple
is
very
beautiful.
The
interiors
has
beautiul
wooden
work.
It
was
unique
as
we
were
not
harrased
by
shopkeepers
or
beggars,
it
was
well
managed.
