We stopped in at Max's Taphouse while in Baltimore based on the recommendation of several other people and we were not disappointed! They had 100 beers on tap available plus a variety of cans and bottles. The selection was excellent. One note if you plan to visit. They had 5oz pours of everything available but they didn't have any flight trays so you had to carry all the glassware yourself. If you happen to have a flight tasty from somewhere, bring it. Otherwise, the place is fantastic!

Great beer, great atmosphere. This is the kind of local Taphouse you don't want to skip out on.

Old school pub house. Plenty of selections on tap. If you are looking for shiny polished decor this is not your place. If you want friendly, fast staff with a knowledge of their offerings, this is your place.

Perfect place for having a drink with friends and colleagues after work. Variety of beer and events. They check your ID at the front desk.

I'm not a beer drinker, so take my review how you like. We had a work party here, preplanned with management's reserving the back room. We weren't told that we'd be shuttling back and forth to the bar to serve ourselves, but okay, we made it work. The bartender was as helpful as he could be with the situation. But - appetizers come out, and I have to go ask for silverware, and napkins, and more plates. We're dining in, but everything is in a to-go box. It was odd, you're still paying normal prices for burgers and nachos. Yes, the wings are awesome. The ribs were good too. The rest was just average. There's a $1 charge for lettuce and tomato. BLUF - sure, go if you just want wings and beer, and some rough (edgy? Ehhh, I like bathroom stalls that work tho) atmosphere.

Great beer selection, one of the best in Baltimore. It can get busy and have slow service. But worth the wait for such a good selection. The food isn't great and you would be better eating elsewhere and just going to Max's for drinks.

Hellooo!!! Visting baltimore for a few days from miami beach... I just had a light beer at this bar... Beer was cold and in a glass. The ambience was nice, good music, and relaxing staff. I just got a phone call from spain, I am going to drink my beer and leave. Thanks.

Came here for a few afternoon beers with my friend to celebrate her marriage and my birthday. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the different styles and was able to select some great beers for me based on my preferences. I need to bring my beer loving husband here, he'd be in heaven.

6/17/22 Will update another time as I did not try any food entrees. The bartenders were quick to serve. I was trying to ask about beer recommendations and the bartender wasn’t really helpful in that department… However, they do have something like a hundred beers on tap so maybe it’s just overwhelming amount of information to be asked about so that’s understandable. Majority of their beers are sour/IPA so I was a little disappointed to not see more stouts or porters. The have a large long bar, plenty of seats. It’s definitely got the dive bar criteria boxes checked. There was music and college kids dancing inside. I had the barley wine which was really good. For a total of two beers and two barley wines, the check rang into about $52 so more on the steep end. There is slim to no parking outside of the restaurant, so do plan time and patience to find a spot and walk. Overall, decent bar and wouldn’t mind going back to check out some of their food options.

Max's Taphouse is always a must stop when visiting Baltimore. A six page tap list and bottles and cans to go. There is no place like it for craft beer. Super nice people and great a atmosphere.

It was busy Saturday evening, and I had the best pineapple cider in my life. Definitely would come back in there for more!

Saturday it was my pleasure to sit at the bar and enjoy a flight of beers at this establishment. I loved everything about this spot. Very welcoming and loads of sitting. Was not crowded at all when I went cause it was early early 😛 They had so many beers to choose from ale, portes, stouts, Pilsner, wheats, IPA you name it it is there. The bartender was so very friendly. I had the flight and then a 10oz all for less that $30 So if you are walking around and you see Max’s Taphouse you need to drop in and sample up some beer. 🥰 Definitely recommend and would come back.

Stellar collection of more than a hundred beers on tap, including the world famous St. Bernardus Abt 12! Great bartenders and whimsical decor and atmosphere -- we'll be back!

Great beer selection and a decent amount of Tv's. Looking forward to trying the food.

We did not try food so this review is based solely on the bar experience and their extensive beer selection. Due to the Labor Day holiday and it being a Monday our options of breweries in the area were basically zero with almost all being closed. We still wanted to try local brews though and this came up as the best option I could find. It did not disappoint at all and was worth the stop. With roughly 110 beers or so on draft and even more options in cans/bottles you can’t tell me they don’t have a beer you like. Especially since you can get small pour samples. We tried a variety of beers, just around 10 or so and most of them were great. If you are a craft beer fan this place is a must stop. Great selection of local brews as well as stuff from all over the place as well (even saw Maine represented with Lone Pine Brewing and Maine Beer Co). Bartenders were both friendly and full of jokes. Great staff and vibes as well as beer list. Would return to try more beers and try the food as well.

Been a fells point regular for over 5 years I'm low-key disappointed I didn't try Max's Taphouse earlier, the beer selection is insane more options than u even need. The food is amazing we had the pit beef, Nashville hot wings and Chili. The cornbread is goin for goat status easily some of the best I've ever had.

The best selection of beer in Baltimore! They carry the majority of the local breweries in the area, and always have the newest brews on tap. They also carry a well-stocked assortment of liquor if you fancy something else. Multiple unique whiskeys and bourbons are on their tasting menu. To top it off, they have the best wings in the state! Nice and crispy with great flavor. Be sure to try their burgers as well. If you're lucky, you'll catch Rachel behind the bar who always seems to know the next best beer to try! Always something unique on tap!

Max's Taphouse is a bit chaotic, but fun if that's what you're looking for. There are tables, but to get food or drinks you have to go to the bar to order. The bar can be quite a long wait at times, but their unique beers and tasty food are worth it.

So I’ve been here a couple of times and always had a good time with excellent service. The place has a very long bar which has multiple bar tenders. My boy Jamie was the best bartender I’ve had in all my years of drinking at bars. Dude ran around the bar and took care of everyone with a smile. Plus the wings are delicious.

There’s no better place for a beer in Baltimore city. Their beer selection is top notch and their bartenders are up to date on their beer. I’ve never had a bad recommendation. Two tips for anyone going there. 1) order by number, not beer name and 2) do not order a bud light, Budweiser, Miller lite, etc…. Just don’t.

I can't believe I haven't left a review given how many times we've been here. You have access to dozens of beers you would not be able to purchase in even the most thorough liquor stores - both German/Belgian AND local beer. Suffice to say, Max's Taphouse is a necessity for us when we are in Fell's. For the countless amount of lines they maintain, it's kind of insane to me that we have NEVER gotten a bad pour. If you enjoy beer, you really need to go here. What are you waiting for? Hop to it! 🐇💨

The atmosphere was very chill. The wings was delicious and the bartender was friendly. Just a shame they didn’t have the UFC PPV so we had to go somewhere else for that. But definitely a spot I would want to come back to.

Fantastic beer menu for all beer enthusiasts. Highly recommend all Belgian beer options on draft and bottle. Personal preference is every sour ale option!

"Fastest Bar Food" in Maryland. I do mean than everywhere else I have been in the state. No waiters needed for the meals. I guess they had done it after/during the pandemic thats what took it over the usual 3/4 star bars for me. Tried out the sour ale, steak burger (medium-well) and a beer chilli with cornbread to go which put the food over the top. No greasy fries or dry bread. Less pricey than most foodies pay for a meal and a half. My brother got the wings, not oversauced and it had a great crunch to it.👌🏾 They had a smooth easy to see lighting, TVs loud enough for the game, O's stopped the sweep & convenient for a small crowd less clutter/confusion/coaxing. I was expecting an edgy spot. Maybe something "mid with a offbeat draft selection" and only pale ales, but boy oh boy no need to water down the experience, the food and craft beer galore: "The selections, the service, and the speed gave me the thrills!" Overall, clean atmosphere, great manspreading spaces and great crafty experience!

Great beer bars are true gems. You’ll see what I mean when after seeing the extensive tap list. It gets pretty loud inside, so heads up. If you’re looking for a more subdued brewery-type experience, look elsewhere. But if you want many brew options in one spot and don’t mind rowdy customers, this place is worth visiting.

Great atmosphere for a game ( watching the World Cup final) but cold food and the kitchen has only been open for 8 minutes when we ordered? Disappointing. Having to ask your server to put nachos in the microwave isn’t a good look.

Everyone had told me that since I'm a beer lover I have to go to Max's. I appreciate the large variety of beers, and I really like the outdoor patio that's also dog friendly. That said, I wish there was service outside. It's a bit awkward if I'm by myself with my dog. It would also be nice if they let you use glassware outside instead of pouring your beer into a plastic cup. I know this sounds snobby, but the beer just doesn't taste as good in a plastic cup.

I went here for a trivia night. The Bartenders were amazing, so kind and so quick. We had a great time even if we answered every question wrong or almost. Definitely would recommend the trivia night. Unfortunately, the food wasn't my favorite. There was a lot of cheese sauce on my nachos. It overpowered the whole thing. Drinks were excellent though. We are a simple group but that doesn't mean the drinks weren't perfect.

BEST WINGS IN THE UNIVERSE! These will get alll your senses goin’! The honey old bay wings have the perfect flavor, crisp and smokiness! No clue how Roc made these happen but we’ll gladly drive 3 hrs in traffic again to have them. Burger, fries and pretzel (even the cheese) were also amazing. Add all this up and toss in the most eclectic and delish beer selection in Baltimore and you’ve got an amazing afternoon.

Max's Taphouse hosted a chess tournament I participated in. The beer was top shelf and the food was reasonably priced and delicious! I opted for the pork BBQ with homemade chips. If I were a few decades younger, I would likely be a regular. I certainly plan to return soon without the extra stress of tournament chess.

Great atmosphere on a Friday night. Loved the incredible amount of beers on tap and ordered a sample of three different stouts. The beer was flat. Possibly due to the fact that many beers don't get pulled often enough and the sample is a relatively small amount. Staff was efficient. If you want to try something specific from a long list of beers, it is a great place, but i got reminded of why a shorter curated list of anything is usually better than a huge selection.
