If I could, I'd narrow this review specifically to the bald bearded awful bartender working this afternoon. I am not the sort of person who would take the time to do this kind of review but... So, before, when it was still steam punk alley, this bar was mine and my former boyfriend Jason Lewis favorite bar ever. Tina and Mikey were the best, and going out meant without question going to stream punk. That is...until Jason dies on Christmas Eve two years ago in a tragic accident. It's been a while since I've been back because the memories make me want to cry. So a few weeks ago, someone fell asleep driving on the highway and totaled my car. I had errands to run in the city and was in a rush leaving and I'll advisedly wore jeans and a hoodie to take the train downtown and end up doing a LOT (like miles) of walking in like a million degrees weather. So before heading back to the train station I decided to take, according to my phone, a 1.7 mile WALKING detour to steam punk. When I arrived, I politely asked for a glass of ice water. The man said"you have to get a drink I'm not just handing ice waters out" I assumed he knew I knew that and I laughed it off and said "yeah of course I used to be a bartender" I was hot, exhausted and parched and alcohol could wait for a glass of water and a trip to the bathroom while I decide what cocktail I want, right? Wrong. He stared at me after I politely waited for him to finish up with his other customers and he asked me what drink I wanted. I said I hadn't decided yet, just water for a minute and I have to use the bathroom to which he cut me off and said "you know what, do me a favor and get out" I was so embarrassed and stunned and surprised that my feet carried me to the door before I could even think. I paused and almost turned around to just order a beer but everyone was staring at me as if I was some piece of garbage so I just left in tears. Whoever you are, bartender, you really hurt my feelings. Compounded with the trouble I took out of my way to patronize your establishment, you ruined my day and made me feel like less than a person. I hope this prevents you from doing the same to someone else in the future. Who knows, maybe you were just having a bad day. But that's not something you should pay forward.

Baltimore's favorite 'your uncle's bar' lol. Reasonable drink prices, down to earth bar. I've been by for both evening hang outs, for Pride, and hey my best buddy arranged my karaoke bachelor party there during the day years back. Nice staff and always a good ol reliable.

Not very steampunk-y, save for a propeller hanging on the wall. The bartender looked genuinely afraid of me and my friends and was super anxious/nervous when taking our orders. Had my one drink and quickly left because I felt as if my patronage was not wanted

Thought we’d give gay Baltimore a shot. Went here around 9:15pm on a Friday, left at 9:30 pm. Bar tender was busy, and took regulars who just walked in over us waiting 15 minutes. That’s trashy, so went to the wet brewery next door and got a drink once we walked in.

It's two gay bars attached by a hallway and a bathroom and one side is more Steampunk themed while the other side is just strictly as Blue Oyster as it gets. As a straight man, my judgement may be skewed or unreliable, as far as this place is concerned, but I have been here numberous times with karaoke friends and always found the staff to be friendly and excellent at their jobs, and the atmosphere is very encouraging and welcoming toward singers of all skill levels.

They were serving doubles - two drinks for the price of one - when I visited. It's kinda a hole in the wall but thars part of the charm. There was a drag dance show, very friendly and helpful bartenders - fast too! Nice happy crowd, skewed slightly older but not by much, may have been probability/chance. Was good to change it up and visit Leon's instead of Central (my personal favorite spot ) or the Eagle. Will be going back.

I've been trying to contact Leon's for months about a falsified credit card tip. I purchased two drinks for a total of just over $10, left what I thought was a generous $10 tip that was charged as $1,000. Called and called but no one ever answers the phone. Finally had to submit a dispute with my credit card company. KEEP YOUR CREDIT CARD SLIPS, folks - who knows whether this is an innocent mistake or something intentional, but it's been a nightmare trying to get this resolved.

Steampunk Alley isn't that steampunk, nor is it in an alley. What it lacks in naming accuracy it makes up for in character. The food is good, the bartenders are are some of the best around, happy hour is every day from 4pm to 10pm, and there are events several nights a week, from viewings of American Horror Story to RuPaul's Drag Race trivia with a full drag show before and after, and Sunday night karaoke is always a blast. Not sure whether Steampunk is Baltimore's best gay bar, Baltimore's best dive bar, or both.

Although, I wasn’t able to get into the bar(do to door that I wasn’t able to open). I give it a 2stars because I see that it is wheelchair accessible. Hopefully, on my next visit to Baltimore, someone will help me open the door and maybe enjoy a drink with me.

The quintessential Baltimore gay bar. A loveable, friendly dive with buy-one-get-one drinks. What's not to love?

Went out for drinks with a friend on October 12 and couldn't believe how little the bartender, Sven, cared. A customer knocked over a glass and it shattered onto the floor. He made no effort to clean up the broken glass despite multiple patrons asking him to. He kept saying "I'll get it after my shift." It was hardly midnight and he was just going to let a safety hazard sit there for another 2 hours. Someone could have easily gotten hurt. That's just not acceptable

Went to Steampunk Alley for my birthday. My friends and i had a blast! We loved our room which was super cheap compared to the other karaoke spots in the city. The girls working were very sweet, always checking up on us! Definitely will be back for another karaoke night!

I agree with the description of β€œlaid back”, and β€œintimate”. I don't know if there were public restrooms in this bar. It wasn't clearly marked, so I went to the streets. Staff appeared to be honestly friendly.

When I lived in Baltimore, I was there almost every week. Great crowd, very low key and more for chatting and meeting guys. The bartenders Mark and Joe are the best!

My bf and I had a great time here. Very welcoming staff and patrons, all 6 of us strangers around the bar were engaged in friendly conversation. Plus, a convenient walk to and from Hotel Brexton to get your sauce on.
