By no means should this place be considered one of the best bars in America, let alone Baltimore. If you’re in the mood for a “hipster drink” (we ordered the Jade Bi and Precious Coral) that doesn’t exactly taste like a great drink, but certainly costs like one, this place is for you. The “hipster drinks” were so off-putting we needed a second round of normal drinks just to wash the taste out of our mouths. The only redeeming quality about this place (why the review is 2 stars as opposed to 1) was the live jazz music, which certainly gave the place a cool vibe. If this bar can learn how to make hipster drinks like W.C. Harlan or the Bluebird Cocktail Room, this review would certainly have more stars. P.S. I don’t write reviews often, but this place compelled me to write one.

This is definitely one of the coolest places in Baltimore!! The aesthetic is really cool—as if Hogwarts had a bar! It’s very intimidate and it feels very sophisticated. And the drinks are delicious. Also, the service is 10/10. The server and host had phenomenal energy!

Adding my review to it, I gave 4 for the drinks, 5 eventually because of food and services. Our experience was great, the server took a good care of us and answered our questions with patience all the time. Food: 🍟We love the truffle fries, it was super crispy and tasted good. 🧇The passion fruit crepe soufflé was impressive. It looked definitely different from our imagination and our of our minds at the same time. The inner part was super creamy and the sweetness went well with the passion fruit sauce. Drink: 🍭I had the Jade Bi which came with a chartreuse color lollipop. Objectively, I can say this is a creative drink, not bad but not my style. It is a drink with herbal taste. I’ll recommend melt the lollipop in it to give a sweetness. 🍹my friend had the mermaid one which had papaya, cream and egg in it. I like this one better than mine, sweet and creamy, no weird egg taste. Would like to visit and try their dinner next time.

The place is a really cozy and mature. My lady and I went on a Saturday night. There was live music which is always a plus. The first round of drinks we ordered were interestingly niche, so the next next round we went traditional. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come here again! Thanks for the great service.

Literally stumble into the most fun speakeasy in Baltimore. There's no sign (of course) and you just need to find your way. Once inside, you'll relax into a library and almost steampunk setting. Personally, I prefer a spoken menu --- especially since the bartenders are so kind and attentive. They want to match you with the perfect cocktail. Loved Dylan's card tricks as well! The live music was nice and both rooms are a great experience.

There's good and bad about this place imo. The bad: the drinks were not nearly as good as I thought they'd be. There seems to be more of an emphasis on uniqueness than taste. We got about 4 or 5 drinks between me and my friend and only one was ok not great but ok. The good: The food was all really good tho. I definitely recommend the Mac and cheese and the corn pudding for sides. The servers were nice and the atmosphere was cool. Worth the experience but I wouldn't go back.

Elk Room is a bar we've heard recommended for a long time. I can see why since the ambiance is extremely elaborate and unique. We walked in without a reservation and had to wait an hour or so for a table. Service was particularly slow, but I believe they were down on staff that night, so I don't think that is normal for them. We tried the Fiji Mermaid, Passion Pit, Falcon Punch, and Hemlock. Passion Pit was my favorite drink. Fiji Mermaid and Falcon Punch were decent, but didn't blow either of us away. The Hemlock wasn't the most balanced and had to be sipped slowly to allow the ice to melt and tone down the intensity. If you've got a strong palate though, you'd probably enjoy it. The vibe here is really nice though for an evening out with friends. If you visit the Elk Room, you definitely want to make a reservation in advance or just call ahead to get on the wait-list before you grab dinner. All-in-all, you'll have an interesting night of flavour combinations, but you may or may not love all of them. Worth checking out if you're into cocktails.

Very cool atmosphere. The drinks were well made and the food was excellent. Service was pleasant but a slow for a night that wasn't very crowded. My only real complaint was a complaint I have with most of Atlas's restaurants... I feel like $140 with tip for two small appetizers and four mixed drinks is very high, even by today's standards.

Pros: Beautiful relaxing atmosphere with a speakeasy historic vibe. Decent food with moderate prices. Nice choice of handcrafted cocktails. Clean 😁 They have live music many nights and that music as well as the radio music is at a good volume... not too loud and not so quiet you think you are hearing things! Cons: Service - Host and waitstaff is a hit or miss. I find some staff to be rather short in temper borderline condescending or rude, while others are the opposite. Furthermore, you may wait for 20 minutes to get waited on when the place is mostly empty, or you may get service immediately. In my opinion, for the price you pay here and what it is supposed to be, one should not have to wait more than 5 minutes to be waited on and all staff needs to respect customers. I do not like to use names here and call out waitstaff :) I just hope that management will discuss their manner and work ethic with all staff to ensure that customers are getting the best experience possible. Drinks - The drinks are not always prepared the same; sometimes you get a nice strong well made drink, other times, as other reviewers have said, the drinks are watered down. One drink that I had tasted it was literally almost like water with a dash of orange juice! Long story short with the negatives, there is a lack of consistency with service and drinks :) It should be spot on every time.

Great vibe, good food, good drinks. I really enjoyed the setting and ambiance of the place. It has a long wait but is worth it. The food and drinks are pricey but to be expected for a place like this! Would definitely recommend for a date or celebration.

Overall, I was underwhelmed. I enjoyed the hide and seek of finding the speakeasy. I also enjoyed the atmosphere and our server. However, the menu was a Mario Brothers theme that not only didn't match the atmosphere, the drinks were trying too hard. I know my way around a bar, and they included so many obscure ingredients that most were unrecognizable and you couldn't imagine in advance what you were ordering. Most times in a good cocktail place, it's hard to decide which one you want to try first. Here it was hard to decide which to try at all. We ordered a couple off the menu. One was good and one was meh. We ordered a couple that were recommended by the server but off menu. We ordered a couple of classics that we know we like. But they lost me when we got regular restaurant grade ice rather than cocktail-detemined ice shapes like solid blocks or crushed ice. All in all - we had a good time (who couldn't with three rounds?) but we probably wouldn't go back.

A place for the foodies AND the cocktail lovers. I had to ask around to find it, but I think that's part of the appeal of this place. The drink menu is exciting and the food is shockingly good. Definitely not your ordinary 'bar food', or your typical bar in general. We got the escargot, the beef tartare, and a half dozen oysters. The drink menu was definitely my style, with a lot of fun flavor combos and interesting ingredients.

Fantastic speakeasy-style cocktail bar. It’s actually quite well-hidden up the alley, as the door leading into it is non-descript. We were seated right away on a very nice Friday night. Nice choice of tailored cocktails and an expansive spirit collection. Cocktails are all $20 each and are fantastic - huge range of flavors/strength. Also a very gourmet food menu- ended up getting the Truffle fries which were delicious. Just a great vibe and great quality cocktails!

This place is...fine. For the price there are better places in Baltimore that will give you the same kind of ambiance with better food and better service. The cocktails are fabulous, but at that price point honestly nothing that special. The food is good but again not as good as you'd expect at that price point. Service was very slow, front desk was rude, and we were constantly without our water glasses filled up, which seems like a silly thing to gripe about, but when you're spending $120 a person on a couple of cocktails and an appetizer having your waiter at least come around to fill your water with some consistency should be a minimum bar.

It’s very hard to please my wife with a drink she’ll like. Our bartender… better yet, “scientist” was Case. And he was the best mixologist I’ve ever seen. What a wonderful and exciting experience. I would definitely come back again.

Fun place to find that is kind of hidden by an unmarked door. The vibe of the place is great. The drinks were very well done and enjoyable. The food was amazing all around. A little pricey but pretty fair for the quality, though I wish the drinks were a tad cheaper.

Must see speak easy location with a curtained entrance, romantic lightening and a drink menu straight from mixologist heaven. Highly recommend and make sure you either come early or have your full party there as location is hopping and you need to plan ahead to get a seat. Live music plays on some nights..... Gorgeous decor. Don't miss

I had no idea Baltimore had a Speakeasy bar and so we went there after a movie at Harbor East Cinemas. It's in easy walking distance between the two. The entrance is a door you would overlook if you didnt know as there is no signage outside. Inside the atmosphere is dark which gives The Elk Room a mysterious vibe. The seats were luxurious and fancy. Each table has an oil lamp adding to the ambiance. We tried 4 of their specialty cocktails. The Spellbound and the Chupacabra were the standouts. We want to eventually come back and try the other cocktails as well. If you're hungry, they have the full Monarque menu from next door. I've already reviewed them and their food is to die for. Finally the staff were professional and personable. High quality here all around. I had a really good time here and I will definitely come back.

Super classy upscale establishment. Only had 1 cocktail since I was in a rush. Chupacabra. Well made even though I think bartender is fairly new, didn't know where some of the ingredients were. I will be back for a full experience in the next couple of weeks.
