I usually don't write reviews but I'll make an exception today. We went here on Monday night for Baltimore Restaurant Week. The host sat the two of us in a back corner where it was dark and we couldn't even see the window. The whole restaurant was almost empty, he could've sat us in a nice bright place anywhere else. Not sure why he did this. We arrived here two hours before closing time. Service was very slow because we were hidden, the bartender was serving us and our server never showed up. Also the refrigerator behind us was making a loud rattling noise but the bartender fixed it when I mentioned it to him. The food was okay, not worth it to be honest. The fried calamari pieces were very small. The soft shell crab was fine. I would be fine with the food if we were seated in a nice, well-lit area like the rest of the patrons. The decor is nice there but we couldn't see anything. I've been here many times before and I just sat at the bar, no issues. I live nearby. You really need a new host, I don't think I'm going to come back for a while now. Maybe for happy hour, but not to dine in. Sorry.

Came here for restaurant week with my bestie, and had an amazing time. Beautiful atmosphere, comfortable seating & lighting, the service was refreshingly professional. The manager was personable and greeted our table, our waiter was attentive, and the hostess was very courteous. I Will definitely be back soon for those crab cakes and key lime pie. Great job!

Visiting Oceanaire in DC was a memorable affair, as we ventured to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and the place was a feast for the senses. Admittedly, the menu made my wallet wince a bit but, the high-end ambiance of the restaurant offered a fitting backdrop, making each dollar seem like a worthwhile investment. Portion sizes at first glance were modest but delivered a culinary depth charge, leaving me unexpectedly satisfied by the end of the meal. Cleanliness was on point throughout the restaurant, extending even to the bathrooms - a detail that didn't go unnoticed. However, a small puddle behind our table became a somewhat quirky landmark for the evening, receiving more foot traffic than attention from the cleaning crew. Our waiter was impressive with a deep understanding of the menu and offering solid recommendations. The ambiance, while sophisticated, was surprisingly quiet. It was like participating in an unspoken agreement to whisper, making the sound of my heels feel amplified. Lighting in the restaurant was somewhat challenging. It was rather dim, with a blue hue being the predominant source of illumination. This could potentially pose a difficulty for individuals who rely on lipreading. While the mood lighting was aesthetically pleasing, it's a detail the restaurant might consider addressing for better inclusivity. All things considered, Oceanaire is an attractive option for those looking to make an impression during a first date or celebrate a significant occasion. Just a little tip - watch out for puddles.

The service was very good. The food was slightly overpriced for the quality and quality. The crab cake was excellent and I highly recommend it. I would never order the foie grãs again. It was extremely small and not cooked perfectly. I would also not order the pork belly again. It was dry and over seasoned. For the price everything should be perfect.

This restaurant is typically out of my price range but I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to try it. It was fantastic. The service was exceptional (shout out to Shanika, who made my visit extra special with her kindness). My favorite dish (dishes change based on what is available fresh) was the octopus. It was simply amazing. I had to fight not to lick the plate. Hopefully it will be in rotation when you visit.

Sitting down at the bar to start was a mistake. Two bartenders walked by me a total of 4 times; No "be right with you" or "how's it going just give me a minute", etc. So I got up and went to my table. The food was excellent, the drinks were just as good, and I appreciate the service Cassie gave.

This place was nice. Great place to have a nice dinner. Formal/ semi formal atmosphere. Great service, attention to detail for fine dining. Good was good.. Didn't hit the full mark. Interesting when the manager came and asked about dinner. We began a conversation.. abruptly left the conversation to answer the phone and never returned. Overall a good dinner.

Oceanaire had very impressive food. I had the Octopus, Crab Cake, Sea Bass and cheesecake and each dish was perfect. The service was also outstanding.

This place was 10/10 they hit all the nails on the head. Location atmosphere clean bathrooms. The waiters all great the timing of the food refills the attentiveness it was well done. A true fine dining five star experience. I never went because I thought it was all shellfish and things I wouldn’t be able to eat but I was shocked. I wished I could have eaten the Mac cheese but they boil the noodles in shellfish water since it’s lobster based. So I hope to see that change. Everything was good and they give sharing portion size so no need to order many side items of same thing. And the key lime was so good.

Everything was superb. My son surprised me and drove from Atlanta to take me out for Mothers Day Dinner. Stephanie was most helpful with her suggestions. We will absolutely be back❤️❤️❤️

My son took me here for my birthday and I had the best time. The waitress was wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed and she surprised me with a fiery piece of cake which was so good. I will love to go back soon and highly recommend this place.

The crab cakes were the best in the city, the calimari was basic but the homemade dipping sauce was divine, the salmon was moist and tender but lacked any flavor. Had to ask a waiter to bring the calimari sauce to drizzle on the bland fish. Service was a bit lacking, but I did like even when i waiter was hardly ever around, all the wait staff assisted. The dude that brought our food was a little ill mannered and almost knocked my drink over. Overall, for the price point of this restaurant... It wasn't worth going back to. 2/5

My husband and I ordered the chicken fried lobster and it was so amazing. Comes with creamy grits and I also had salad end appetizer crab cake. It was out of this world delicious. I wish I could eat it everyday. My birthday dinner was perfect.

We booked in advance for a Birthday celebration. Greeted by a very charming hostess he seated us promptly. Adam! He was amazing. Very charming, knowledgeable, patient. A1 customer service. Made great suggestions as for as menu options. He made his guest have a very happy birthday, we didn’t get to talk all of the pics because we really enjoyed our food. He ordered a the king Alaskan salmon with spinach and shrimp fried rice, I ordered the 10 oz filet-mignon with Oscar Louie (lump crab meat) with the garlic mash on the side. We had a baked Alaskan dessert that Adam lit on fire! With strawberry cookies and cream inside! It was amazing! They also gave us an customized birthday menu! That was it for me!

Expensive, but really delicious! Group of 10, wait staff did super job serving us. Tried rockfish, absolutely delicious. Sides are pricey (sp?), but all good size to share. Group also had soft shelled crab & loved it. Everyone enjoyed the food & great service. Beautiful interior. Really lovely place

Ate here for the first time ever on 7/29/23. We've been to a lot of the fine dining places in the area (Capital Grille, The Bygone, The Charleston, etc.) and I must say out of all of the places we've been the Oceanaire was the best experience out of all of them so far. Atmosphere was a very chill vibe, with elegance. Loved it. Service: Our server (shoutout to Colin) was the best server we've ever had. Extremely attentive, professional, kind, and helpful. Here are just two things (out of many) that stood out about the service: 1) I loved how he went over the menu with us in multiple broken up sessions (example: go over the starters first, then leaves the table and comes back to go over entrees, rinse and repeat,). The pacing was extremely nice, it felt perfect. He also had extremely helpful food suggestions. 2) Being asked to cut into my steak as soon as it was set down in front of me to make sure it was cooked properly is awesome. I've been to fancy steakhouses that don't even do that. Food: We had a few oysters and the octopus to start. My goodness....so good! My wife had the Chilean seabass with crab meat and I had the new york strip with the Massachusetts Sea Scallops (both of our meals were Colin's suggestions). Our food was so freaking good .....and bonus we got a nice portions, so that means food to take home! We love turning our entrees into multiple meals (more bang for our buck!). The sides were shareable so we picked a crawfish and andouille risotto which was also freaking delicious.... The dessert (baked alaska, which is torched marshmallow on top of icecream and delicious sponge cake) that Colin torched in front of us himself was one of my all-time favorite desserts i've ever eaten! The cocktails were splendid and very well made too. Overall the food and drink were just spectacular. The amazing service and atmosphere pushed everything over the top (thanks Colin), which is why I ranked Oceanaire higher than the other fine dining restaurants. We will be happy to come back here! At the time of this writing we were told they offer a really great deal on Oysters at the bar on Sundays.

Easy to reserve a table using OpenTable for dinner with our board of directors of the Veteran Owned Business Roundtable. Our waiter was amazing; not to mention our meal was exquisite.

Visited Baltimore and decided to try out this highly recommended restaurant. Ordered their shrimp and grits, but was left utterly disappointed. The dish was excessively oily and the price was sky-high for what I received. To make matters worse, it arrived ice cold and made a complete mess everywhere. Expecting high standards, I requested a full refund, but was met with refusal. Will not be ordering from here again.
