My cousin who is a picky eater recommended this restaurant and I’m happy she did. It wasn’t busy when we ate there. Spacious restaurant. I ordered the lamb gyro. My meal came out hot and good quality ingredients. The baklava was well made. Buttery and a nice crisp. The samosas were spicy and tasted more flavorful when I ate them cold later in the evening. I would definitely try them again when I’m in the area.

This place is a convenient distance from the convention center and hotels. The portions are big and the food is good. Everything was a tad spicy, which we didn't mind. The one thing I found annoying was there are two doors, but the one everyone was walking up to (including ourselves) was locked and the windows are tinted, so it appears to be closed. I wish staff would just put a sign on the door to use the other door. Small annoyance for an otherwise pleasant meal and restaurant!

Amazing afghan place only a 3 min walk away from UMB campus. Food is delicious, the interiors and wall decor are beautiful, workers were friendly, portions were big and hearty

All the kabobs are nicely marinated and well cooked. Their in house Naan Bread with green sauce are refreshing appetizers. Nice and clean environment for family. Obviously everything is Halal and each dishes comes with good portion for a person.

Maiwand Grill is around the block from the Everyman Theater. It's convenient for a pre or post theater meal. It's clean and neat. The restaurant is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. There's no free parking lot. The venue is wheelchair accessible. The tables are numbered. You go to the counter to order and tell the clerk your table number. A server brings you your meal when it's ready. The food is very good. I had lamb chops, and my wife had pumpkin salad. I deleted one star because of very slow service even though the place was quite empty when we arrived. Other theater patrons who came in after us were served before us. In spite of that server error, I definitely recommend the Maiwand Grill

We'll be back! Had the kabobs- chicken and seasoned ground beef. The chicken was just a little spicy, so I ended up liking the seasoned beef best. Husband liked both. The rice is not boring white rice -really good version here. Baba ghanoush also great. Prices very reasonable!! Order at counter and food will be delivered to your table.

The food was delicious and we ordered too much and wound up finishing almost all of it. The falafel comes as a platter with falafel balls, wonderfully flavored rice, hummus, salad with dressing and naan. Lamb shishkab had chunks of lamb and similar platter without hummus. All was nicely spiced without being spicey hot. You order at the counter but food is brought to you when ready. We also had appetizers of samosas and baba ghanoush. Portions were good sized and not overpriced. Atmosphere is comfortable but utilitarian.

This was delicious and filling food! I had lamb chops and both that and the rice it came with were great. I also had bolani, but I was too full to eat that. Reheated at the hotel microwave, it made for a great brunch!

Stepping into this Afghan restaurant was like embarking on a delightful journey through the flavors and aromas of Afghanistan. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu showcased an impressive selection of Afghan dishes, each a masterpiece in its own right. I started with the bolani, which were delicate pockets of flavor-filled with a mix of seasoned ground potato and onions. For the main course, I opted for the chicken tandoori tikka, a traditional dish that was a true highlight. The fragrant basmati rice was studded with tender chunks of chicken and adorned with sweet raisins. The flavors were beautifully balanced, showcasing the rich and nuanced tastes of Afghan cuisine. The attentive and knowledgeable staff made the dining experience even more enjoyable. They were more than willing to explain the origins of each dish and offer recommendations based on preferences. To round off the meal, I savored a cup of mango lassi, a soothing finish to an exquisite culinary adventure. In summary, this Afghan restaurant captured the essence of Afghan culture and cuisine flawlessly. The authenticity of the dishes, combined with the welcoming ambiance and top-notch service, made it a memorable dining experience. I'm already looking forward to returning and exploring more of the diverse flavors that Afghanistan has to offer.

I ordered the mixed grill, chicken and lamb. Both were absolutely fantastic. They were flavorful and tender. The plate came with salad of the basic variety, rice (not my preferred style but still good), and naan that was tender and fresh. Total cost with the fountain soda was roughly $20. If the rice has been another variety or the salad something beyond just basic, this place would be 5 stars, and almost is because of the meat alone, but that would mean no room for improvement so I'm going with 4 stars, wishing I could give something closer to 5.

Came here because I have never had Afghani food and do not regret it whatsoever. Everything I had was delicious and flavorful. The Samosas were incredible. The chickpea curry was amazing. The rice was perfectly made. The chicken and lamb was also well cooked. A personal favorite was the pumpkin. I have never eaten it in this way and it was absolutely delicious. The portions were big and this was a very filling meal.

Delicious food. We loved it. We were a little skeptical to go in because it was so quiet (almost as if it is closed) on a friday evening—but I am so glad, we went in. We thoroughly enjoyed our Lamb and Chicken Kebob grills. They were out of stock for Lamb chops—so we will try our luck again soon ;)

The food was very delicious, and the staff was friendly. But, it was hard to find a clean table at the restaurant. It’s the type of restaurant where you help yourself. They have wipes for you to clean the table. I recommend for takeout.

I ordered the "Five crispy chicken wings and fries." It was $9.99. when it came it was FOUR buffalo wings, not whole wings. (So horribly over priced!) They were not crispy. The fries were cold. The only saving grace was the Bolani. It was amazing! Crispy dough wrapper filled with potatoes, onions, and spices. I would definitely get that again. Don't get the chicken wings though. Not worth it.

Delicious food at a fair price. They were accommodating to my dietary needs which was an added bonus! It is a place where you order at a counter and then they bring you your food which is casual but the food is of a quality you would expect at a fancy sit down restaurant. On this occasion there were no tables when we ordered but the staff went out of their way to find us space by the time our food was ready!

Food delicious, price excellent, service prompt. Plenty of room to sit and spread out, grab your table number before ordering. Food is recognizable to any fans of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean-kabobs, gyro’s, hummus, etc. recommend highly.

The service was really good. This was a new place for me so I didn't know what to choose. The young lady taking orders was more than patient with me and helped me on my selection. It was a good experience.

Excellent food at very very affordable cost. My friend and I came here and our meals only cost $25. We left filled and ver satisfied with the food. Highly recommended. Great place to take your date.

We are from out of town and wanted to try something new and different. This place checked all the boxes. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty. The service was fast and friendly. We dined in and the atmosphere was great and establishment was clean. Would highly recommend and would come back again if we are in the area.

The service up front was insanely meh. The guy was super un interested and either didn't hide it or was making a point of showing it. We ordered a meal and he didn't bother telling us to get our drinks, when we asked for the drink he told us to get cans (only two types in fridge) and only after asking for the fountain drinks did he agree and give us a cup. I asked for no fries with my shawarma or drink thinking it'll be cheaper, still paid full price and he didn't point it out. Went back for to go box and the second guy at the counter was waaay better, at least smiled and seemed interested in doing wht he's doing. Girl who delivered food was nice too. Chicken shawarma was definitly worth the high pice. Beef shawarma was great ingredients, but the tender beef chunks were still too big and would fall off the shawarma which makes a (delicous) mess.

The food was so fresh and delicious. Best afghan food we've ever had. They even make their bread fresh and serve it warm.

Never tried afghan food before so I can't comment on the authenticity of the food. But it was quite good for my taste. I had the chicken skewers and my companion had the shrimp skewers. Both were large portions served with long trained rice, a side green salad and 2 pieces of naar. A very satisfying meal! Service was quick and friendly. Prices were good.
