I worked at this building when this restaurant opened in 1996 and it was great. But on a recent visit back, we were VERY disappointed to find that it had all gone down hill to the point of feeling foreign. It was a beautiful day but the doors were shut tight and the interior was unbearably hot. Management had one giant fan blower in the middle of the space, and it didn't seem clean or well stocked, everyone sat outside. The 3 employees who were working were running around as if their lives depended on it. They were clearly overworked and unhappy and there was a line of 8 people waiting, while one and then two people made sandwiches. Meanwhile, a young manager occasionally patrolled but spent most of his time seated nearby, scrolling on his cell phone while customers waited in the heat. And to add insult to injury, the sandwich didn't taste too bad but my stomach was upset that evening so I won't bother visiting again.

Great lunch place unless you have allergies. I've gotten sick there a couple of times and finally tested my favorite soup (Gluten Free Roasted Eggplant) and found high amounts of gluten.

I used to frequent this spot for their fully customizable salads. Since the quarantine lifted they've yet to bring me back. The bakery is an tenth of what it once was. The salad bar has been since closed. All of the sandwiches that brought me have since been removed. And today, I walk in to see no soups or Mac and cheese available. My heart literally sinks with disappointment every time I come in. Still I come in with the hope to see what once was.

Don't even think about getting food until you've checked out at the register. When the credit card reader is malfunctioning, a sign will be hung on it. The man in the glasses will ignore you even if you are a regular customer. He'll just sit there and give you the evil eye for not reading the credit card machine's instructions. He should have the front and side door signs indicating that the machine is broken hung if he has trouble communicating that information. I called to let them know, and in the background I could hear him berate his customers for being illiterate. Perhaps more people would not enter the store if the sign were displayed prominently at the entrance. It will be quite some time before I return here.

Year after year, straight through the pandemic, food at Au Bon Pain is delicious. The seasonal themed sandwiches are interesting. Soups are also great. Pastries melt in your mouth. I especially adore the cinnamon rolls. Chocolate covered almonds are good, too. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful. If you visit enough, staff will learn your name and greet you often. Really cozy place to eat, both inside or outside in the courtyard. Definitely a place to revisit.

Soups-if you want to try a variety of soups come here , there are 8 to10 different soups. Salad-I see many options in salad, it's a a-la-carte. There are signature salads available too.

Best made sandwiches and mac n cheese. The chicken stew soup is really good also. Shame that a homeless guy was able to be sleeping at a table taking up space and not eating. Paying customers kept a wide berth from him to avoid the smell. Love this place. The food is great. Mostly heathy, freshly made sandwiches and salads. Great place to eat in their patio on a nice day and the most exceptional, polite employees! The manager there pitches in wherever needed, making food, cleaning tables or at the cash register. Can't go wrong here!

We were so happy to have Au Bon Pain within walking distance of our hotel. Food was consistently fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. Croissants are especially good. The courtyard is a lovely spot to enjoy your coffee and breakfast or lunch.

The man at the register was very pleasant and helpful..... the woman who made the sandwich was dismissive and short not very pleasant or customer service forward....I shouldn't have to ask where to place my order because she hasn't asked how she could help me....
