I wondered around the exquisite exhibits in awe. What a jewel that itโ€™s free! Parking is paid. 9 bucks not bad! They were having a Joan Mitchell exhibit which my friend enjoyed immensely. Lunch, a book or just photography amusement. the courtyard is perfect.John Waters will have an exhibition here beginning in November 2022.

If you enjoy art, spending an hour or two at the Baltimore Museum of Art is worth it. With free admission (except for special exhibits), the over-100-year-old museum is housed in a grand building designed by John Russell Pope of Jefferson Memorial fame. There's paid street parking nearby, but I opted for the museum's gated parking lot. If you stay under 30 minutes, it's free. (30-60 minutes is $12.) I walked into the museum and did a speed visit. First of all, the museum is much bigger than I expected with a sculpture garden, two different buildings, and several floors of old art to contemporary art. Restrooms are spread throughout the building and winding staircases make the building itself art too.

We absolutely loved our visit to the Baltimore Art Museum. As out of town visitors, we chose to spend extra to see the Joan Mitchell exhibit and we were very glad we did. Additionally, the Guarding the Art exhibit was a definite highlight. I love that BMA values the contributions of their security guards. If we live locally, we would definitely become members, especially as the museum is free to the community. I wish the Portland Art Museum would follow suit.

A really nice afternoon, itโ€™s free, and a really diverse selection with excellent periodic new exhibits. Feature exhibits generally have admission fees but deals for teachers, kids and the elderly. Thereโ€™s a lovely sculpture garden and Gertrudeโ€™s is in the museum with great food and drinks. I was $15 for this exhibit and my wife, a teacher, was $5.

This museum has several very intriguing displays. The floor plan for the exhibitions are well laid out. There is no charge to enter the museum but several locations to make donations. Street parking was abundant and very inexpensive. 50 cents an hour with a minimum of two hours to pay at the parking meter.

Great pieces of work in different genres. Well organized layout. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful bookstore. Superb Matisse collection alone made it worth the trip. Mostly free with a couple of reasonably priced paid exhibitions.

Wonderful! My only regret is that I did not budget enough time. They have gorgeous collections of art from all over the world and different time periods. Really nice that itโ€™s free too (save for special exhibitions)

A really great time for everyone! This free museum had so much to offer the community. To start off they have lockers available when you walk in so you donโ€™t have to carry many things with you. Any backpacks must be worn on the front on the body. I really enjoyed the multi rooms/ floors that provided so much knowledge not only to Maryland but the surrounding places too. This place features new things all the time with interactive pieces/rooms. I love that they also have a whole restaurant( you need a reservation unless sitting at the bar). Iโ€™m excited to return for all new finds next time I visit. This place also features gender neutral bathrooms

I loved this beautiful museum! It is super close to me and such a hidden gem! It has superb exhibits with art from early times to contemporary art! I spent 2 1/2 hours and wish I had went earlier! Highly recommend visiting! Itโ€™s also free admission unless you do an event!

Tons of different genres, and a beautiful building all on its own, this is a must-see in Baltimore. It's completely free, and the paid parking there is fairly cheap compared to other downtown parking lots. The layout is a little confusing and weird, but otherwise a wonderful place to visit! Due to the pandemic, we reserved a time slot in advance, and the check in process was very quick and easy. Word to the wise, if you want to eat at their restaurant, definitely make reservations. We did not, and when we tried to go there after our museum tour, they were all booked up. But otherwise, it was a great visit.

I had such a wonderful and fun visit! Admission is free and while exhibits are usually additional, this specific day was free for the exhibit The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century. This was also my first time visiting BMA. The building itself is beautiful. The young woman at the front desk was very welcoming. The exhibit was absolutely amazing and I really enjoyed the diverse perspectives and ideas. The art ranged from paintings, sculptures, art pieces and so much more. The gift shop was also very impressive! I got lost trying to leave but I enjoyed the ride and got to see things I originally didn't plan. They even have a restaurant (I've heard great things - can't wait to try) & a sculpture garden. The outside grounds are just as beautiful as the interior. I can't wait to come back and would absolutely recommend a visit to this museum!!

Went to the Baltimore Museum of Art to see the Joan Mitchell exhibit (here until August 14, 2022). It was fantastic! My partner and I did an audio tour through our phones. Admission for students was $5. They ask you when you walk in if you have a reservation (we did not), but when we went on a Saturday morning it wasnโ€™t necessary. Just in case, however, Iโ€™d recommend looking into making a reservation.. You really donโ€™t want to miss this exhibit!

This museum is a little treasure! Itโ€™s free to visit and there are some real cool art pieces to see. They have a beautiful collection of Matisse paintings. There is also Picasso, Van Gogh, Miro, Pollock, etc. Antioch floor mosaics are gems. Well done Cone sisters! Thank you for this wonderful collection.

A spectacular collection, the crown jewel is the Cone Collection, an extensive and vibrant collection of modern art acquired by Claribel and Etta Cone during the height of the Impressionist movement. Over 600 works by Matisse are the centerpiece, and the BMA does a great job of rotating the pieces on display at any given time. Current galleries are limited due to COVID-19, but they also have a fantastic collection of African art, and a lovely sculpture garden anchored by a piece by Alexander Calder.

As a Wedding & Event Planner I am thrilled when my clients select an amazing venue! I had the pleasure of executing an event at the Baltimore Museum of Art for over 200 guests. Since we already know how beautiful the museum is, I'm here to brag on the staff! I couldn't have asked for better support from a venue. The security team, janitorial team, coat check staff, house managers and team members were phenomenal! My team and I loved working with the entire staff. They were reliable, flexible, knowledgeable, communicative, and a whole lot of fun! Thank you for providing invaluable support to me, my team, the couple, and their guests.

I LOVE this museum. Went solo on a Saturday morning. Around 11:30am. Nobody was really there yet. So that was nice. They have a lot of great collections on display. Which kinda surprised me honestly. Afterwards I went to the restaurant in the museum and had a brunch special. It was great. The layout of the museum is east to understand and navigate through as well. Totally recommend.

Come early. There's a lot to see and entry is FREE. The museum is in John Hopkins and there's paid parking. Free for 30min and I think $11 all day (might need to check me on that though). However the parking there is limited. BUT there's street parking. Don't be scared by security. They walk circles, and you might see them 4-5x. It depends on how long you take. Photography is allowed with the exception of the piece with the cat head. There's sculptures outside the museum and a restaurant if you're hungry. There's seating in a few of the exhibits if you want to just look at the art or rest your legs. Elevators: If you use the elevator from the front entrance, you can only access the second floor. There's another elevator that will take you to level three.

This is a fantastic museum with an expansive collection of pieces. The main exhibits are free (though some temporary/traveling ones are paid ticket-only), and you can easily spend an entire afternoon (or day) exploring the galleries and gift shop. Everything in this museum is very well thought-out, presented, and curated. My favorite rooms were the Surrealism exhibit and the old mosaics in the hall surrounding the courtyard. The gift shop is also top tier! They have soooo many books, trinkets, housewares, and jewelry at a range of (mostly) affordable prices. If you aren't feeling the cafe inside the museum, there are plenty of places of eat and drink in the cute neighborhood across the street. Don't miss this!

The Baltimore Museum of Art was a quaint but no less beautiful art museum. There were various different artists and styles to appreciate, as well as immersive opportunities for young children. Located on the grounds of Johns Hopkins University, this museum is a great place to take the family.

My visit here, weeks before the current pandemic shut the world down, has become more resonant for me. Like the gestures this museum has taken to try to balance the narrative voices from whom we hear, it's a reminder that we're all in this together. It's time for extending grace, empathy, and opportunity to each other: it makes humanity shine.

One hour tour will not cut it, the range of art exhibits from women artists based in Georgia, LA, Houston and in the heart of Baltimore; pieces from local Baltimore up and coming artists too to 13th century European oil paintings. Will be going back. Also requires online reservations.

This amazing art museum is free! Which is quite unbelievable considering the amount of gorgeous art pieces and installations one can find. The museum itself is a mix of the old and new . It's beautiful wooden floors creek on every step, as of though alerting the pieces of a new visitor. The lighting is modern and many of the spaces have a more modern feel as well. Many of the rooms lead to other rooms which lead to another room. You really do need a few hours to take everything in. Truly a highlight of Baltimore.

This is a great museum with a good selection of art covering different eras and styles. It's free entry for the main galleries with special expositions chargeable usually. The main galleries were excellent with some lovely pieces- I loved the Rembrandt and also the Matisse section! There's also a restaurant and gift shop. I really liked the design and the way the rooms flow and have space so that you don't feel crowded even when it is a little busier! It's also on the Purple route bus too so it's very easy to get to from downtown.

It's a nice museum but not family friendly. My 3 year old was quite well behaved and we were still stalked by the attendants for the majority of our visit. The contemporary wing is really the only place we felt welcome.

Love this museum. We hadn't been in a few months, and it looks like a different place in parts. Really cool new exhibits complimenting a strong base collection. I have always loved the Asian and African collections and the Cone collection galleries. Outdoor displays and gardens make for a lovely walk on a warm day. Photos are some of the newer exhibits since my last visit. Highly recommended. Free admission.

Hadn't visited BMA in many years. Was impressed with the current exhibits (Contemporary Art and especially Guarding the Art - selections made by and with notes on each work by security guards), the layout of the Cone Collection, and the works on the first floor. I had forgotten about the large collection of mosaics from 5th century Turkey. It was chilly and rainy, but the weather didn't stop me from taking a few photos of the sculpture garden.

We came for the greatest collection of Matisse in America, but were pleasantly surprised with a Titian, a Raphael, a Rembrandt, a couple of Picasso, a number of Van Eyck, and two Van Gogh! Itโ€™s not large or crowded. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. We appreciated all the artworks at leisure and enjoyed the lunch at the Gertrudeโ€™s cafe. Coconut ice cream was so yummy! Great art museum with no entry fee (though the hip hop exhibit was $5). The staff are very kind. My only issues were mainly with the pricing of items in the gift shop, but I suppose they need to make money somehow. There was a Basquiat shirt there I really liked but it was $70. I have had the pleasure of visiting the BMA several times for many different reasons. Once for a wedding, once for a conference and most recently for the Art After Hours event. This is a beautiful museum. Not the largest in the area but the exhibits are beautiful and offer something for everyone from contemporary art to special exhibits like the one currently showing which is The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century. The museum displays enormous colourful canvas, amazing sculptures, exquisite silver and gold jewellery and even portraits of kings and queensยด.

Parking is confusing and troublesome. Street parking at meters is available, and they do have museum parking lots but the signs will direct you to past those and into their overflow in the Johns Hopkins university garage. Galleries were only partially open post-covid. I needed my jacket in some galleries but was lightheaded from the heat in others. Most art on display is 17th century and newer, so if thatโ€™s what you enjoy, youโ€™ll love the exhibits. I did not. Security and associates were very kind and helpful. Overall it was not a bad experience, but I wish I hadnโ€™t planned it into my trip considering the other things that could have take itโ€™s place.

Fantastic exhibits, beautiful space. The only drawback is the unbelievable amount of people crammed inside of it, It can be noisy and overflowing with giant packs of schoolkids on field trips, making it hard to get close to a lot of the exhibits. Food is decent but way overpriced, but what can you expect for SF.

Great museum with lots of interesting exhibits! I especially enjoyed their collection of contemporary art. This is a well-maintained and considerably large museum, and admission is free. More interactiveness would have been a nice touch, but other than that, this is a good place to spend an hour or two. I would definitely recommend visiting if youโ€™re looking for something to do in the area.

The Asian Art and African Art exhibits were closed, and they were working on the American Art collection when we visited. But the Cone Sister's collection and the European Art collection are worth a visit, since admission is FREE.
