Wow! What an incredible hidden gem of a museum. Me and my partner stopped by while spending a weekend in Baltimore and we’re completely blown away by the funky and eclectic collection of art here! Great gift shop too, certainly one of the most underrated museums in the country

Super interesting art museum. Lots of city history involved as well. The gift shop is super cute too. Lots of variety: beautiful earrings, magnets, cards, crystals… much more and wide range of prices also making it affordable for everyone to take a momento from here. Came here for a conference but definitely enjoyed walking the museum in between sessions.

I came to the museum on a Saturday by myself. I bought tickets the night before for about $15. It's definitely worth the price. There was 4 floors and each floor has its own theme. The art was very visual and thought provoking. Even the gift shop had interesting items to look at and purchase. There was the main museum building and then a secondary building with artwork. Both buildings had courteous staff from the reception desk to the guards around the museum to the people in the gift shop. There was metered parking right outside the building. I stayed there for about 3 hours. I recommend checking out this museum as it is very unique compared to others. I want to say more about the artist and the artwork itself but I'll let that speak for itself.

The museum is excellent. It has a very unique and interesting collection of art. Moreover, it has a great small yard and rather friendly staff. It is not the cheapest museum, but I think it is worth it. I'm giving it 4 stars due to rather restrictive COVID-19 rules and mask mandate. I think it is unnecessary and is not aligned with the realities of 2022.

A very interesting little museum. Well worth a visit. Full of quirky mechanical artefacts. Very child friendly and interactive. The world would benefit with more folks like Jim Rouse.

Great museum with ever changing exhibits. Fantastic gift shop. Nothing boring or traditional about this place. From its architecture to community connections, this place is a treasure and well worth a visit.

Wow, wow, wow! I am so glad I made the stop at this beautiful museum! There is so much amazing art to see, it is all thought provoking in the best way, and left with joy and hope in my heart. Be sure to stop by the gift shop on your way out; they have an incredible collection of unique gifts you won't want to miss.

This museum had such fun example of art. I have been a big fan of grassroots art for several years now (thank you Lucas, Kansas). Highlight of my visit was definitely FiFi among the other parade guests. The gift shop is also a hoot!

Want a quirky way to spend an afternoon??? My family loved this place. Lots of unusual art. And the gift shop, like others have said is extraordinary. Nothing like this place.

Absolutely grand, soul-cleansing, inspirational collection and space. It's technically possible to see the entire complex in under a day, but treat yourself -- give yourself lots of time to really sit with some of these artists and understand the worldview they bring to and express in their work. My new favorite museum.

A wonderful museum filled with art by people who are not professionally trained. Highly recommend. We went on a rainy day and it was the perfect way to spend an hour or two. And if museums aren't your thing you should still check out the gift shop. It is phenomenal.

I’ve officiated many weddings here in a few different spots in the facility and in the garden and they are always flawless and beautiful. One of the things that makes it such a great venue is that you don’t have to spend extra money on decorations. The entire place is a work of art and so fun.

Wonderful museum. I thought I would be in and out quickly, instead it enjoyed hours exploring the exhibits...and the gift shop. I was moved and inspired by the exhibits and the spaces. I did not buy a ticket in advance, instead I purchased it at the door for the following entry hour. I spent about 40 minutes in the gift shop (yes, it is that awesome). I was able to enter during a down entry period before the time of the ticket.

One of the best museums I had the privilege to visit. Just a ton of exhibits. Make sure to plan for the whole day to enjoy yourself. Military is free and up to 5 family members. Great Staff!!! If you plan to visit Baltimore I highly encourage you to go to this must see attraction.

Everytime we come here there are some new exhibits to see! This is my bf’s favorite museum to chill in. We took my mom and adult children as well this time. So many interesting exhibits. These aren’t classically trained artists but just everyday people who made art. Such interesting stories and fascinating pieces!! We are taking his family there for the first time this coming weekend.

I photographed a rainy day wedding here last weekend and was worried about being moved inside, away from the natural light and intrigue of the outdoor sculpture garden. The venue coordinator made sure the ceremony was hosted in an large, indoor space amongst the contemporary art pieces. This made for a truly unique and eccentric wedding ceremony that was right up the couples' alley. Their 3rd floor event space in the Rouse building was idyllic for dancing and hosting a huge number of guests. I would definitely shoot here again!

The AVAM is a wedding photographer's dream! I always love visiting this charming and eclectic museum, and figuring out what space to use for my next shoot.

Amazing experience. This is one of the most unique museums I have ever been to. Make sure to stop by the second building and the gift shop. You will not be disappointed. Perfect place for a date or friend outing. Make sure to order tickets ahead of time because they do sell out every hour.

Visited with friends. Museum is laid out well, allowing you to see pieces from multiple angles and view points. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Easy access for those with wheels (wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, etc).

This is one of my most favorite art museums in Baltimore! It has a really different modern art exposition with great stories about the artists themselves. Enjoy!

If you're sleeping on this museum as a wedding venue, let this be your sign that you should add it to the top of your list! I recently got to capture the most fantastic colorful celebration at AVAM, and I cannot wait to go back. What dream to capture as a wedding photographer!

Such a great museum! So many creative artists. Interesting mediums, unique perspectives and some detailed, beautiful executions. Fun museum to get lost in for a couple hours

This place is quite entertaining, a lot of the exhibits poke fun at our society, but also some are sobering. Don't miss the section on genocide in different countries, including our own. All different mediums are in use, and recycling is a big part.

Nice exhibit of self taught artists. I’m not certain but many of the pieces seem to have been created by (very) young artists and reminded me of arts and crafts projects. Not that large of a space. Took less than an hour to see everything which made the pricing feel overcharged.

A very pleasant museum. They can book to capacity so make sure to get your tickets in advance or prepare to wait until there next opening. There is a ton of art work done in different mediums and there is even different buildings to explore! It's a huge sprawling place with tons of beautiful art and interesting narratives and storys to read and get lost in. There is some very touching exhibits in there too that I found very moving. I hope everyone will visit because there is definitely something to take away from this place. Also it just so happens to have the coolest gifts hop I've probably ever seen for an art musem.

Cant give a full 5 as I haven't been inside all the buildings yet. Buttttt the building I did enter was amazing in itself, 3-stories, nest balcony and event venue on the 3rd floor, 2nd-floor art hanging on walls, and a very cool chair, lastly the first floor has an awesome glass car and very interactive kinetic sculptures. Can't wait to go back and explore the whole museum. And if your in the Area next year make sure you check out their Sculpture Race!

Wonderful museum with so much to see! The gift shop is next level as well. Don’t miss the second building of the museum! The exhibits included a variety of genres, mediums, and subjects. In all honesty some of the pieces made me uncomfortable which is exactly what art should do sometimes. The museum has a good amount of brave pieces that are shown respectfully. The fart exhibit in the basement was the highlight of my day.

Coolest thing we did while in Baltimore. What an awesome experience with unique and thought provoking art. The museum store has a ton of unique trinkets at super low prices. 100% recommend!!

I loved experiencing the variety of moving art on display. Each exhibition area brought forth different emotions. The sideshow gift shop was also excellent with so many wonderful, vintage, kitchy, and beautiful items to explore. I'll have to visit again because my only regret is not buying anything with Divine or John Waters on it!

Fun museum with a marvelous gift shop. We stayed for about 2.5 hours and had a good time looking at the art and having fun with the interactive experiences. The gift shop was also super fun and probably my favorite gift shop I've ever visited. It was full of lots of fun items and I could've stayed in there for 2 hours on its own!

It's was a very nice museum. I enjoyed not only learning about the art but they has stories about each artist which gave me the opportunity to connect to the artist and their work more. Sharing some of my favorite pieces
