You can visit the monument for free entry, but if you want to climb the monument you have to pay $6 for it, however overall is a great experience, you able to see the views of Baltimore at the top of the tower. The climb is not hard.

I came here yesterday and was greeted warmly by the friendly staff. I was intrigued by the history of the very first "Washington Monument" that was built in George Washington's honor. To enter the monument is for free, but there isn't too much to see inside. For a small fee of $6 you can go up 227 narrow stairs to the top. Going up felt like going up a lighthouse, except the space seems a tad tighter. Once you get to the top you have a nice view of the Downtown/Mt. Vernon area with a slight breeze. Be forewarned that in order to enter and/or do the climb, masks are still required. Overall, this is definitely a landmark for anyone to visit while staying in Baltimore.

The cost is $6.00 to go to the too of the monument. The view is absolutely fabulous. There are 227 steps to reach the top. Worth it though. Not too much space at the top. Will get crowded with 4-5 people.

We were here on a Monday so it was closed. But we walked around the parks and it was so nice and tranquil.

Interpreters were kind, visit was quick, and we had the tower to ourselves! We liked it a lot, but it was a pretty quick stop for $6/each. That said, I'd go again. Great views, majestic setting. Seemed like a little piece of Rome right in Baltimore!

Free part of the monument was minimal with a couple interactive screens with some basic information. Me and my partner payed $6 each to go up to the top; the views were amazing. The stairs themselves are very narrow- if there’s another person you have to get past, it’s tight! It took us 15 minutes to go up and come down.

The first monument to Washington in the United States. The marble column forms the centerpiece of the four park squares of Mount Vernon Place, a National Historic Landmark District. Entrance into the monument is free, visitors can also purchase a $6 ticket to climb the 227 steps to take in the impressive view of downtown Baltimore.

If your looking for something to do after having breakfast or lunch in Mt Vernon. Head on over to the Washington Monument and climb all 227 steps to see greats views of the city. (Tickets are $6.00 per person)

10 min by car if you’re at the Inner Harbor. Interesting history & a beautiful church ( Mt Vernon) next to it. Laze around in th lawn behind the monument. There are tables, chairs & benches for you & a couple of cafes. Entry to the monument is free but there’s a $6 fee to up to the top of the tower. Add to your list if you visit Baltimore.

You can enter the premises for free and understand the history and go over details in a chronological order on two touch screen boards that show the history of the place, but if you want to climb the stairs then there is a fee. Nice restaurants in the vicinity.

Living in Baltimore I have been to the Monument too many times to count. It’s definitely a nice place to grab a coffee and sit in any of the small adjacent parks. There are very nice statues and fountains to enjoy. However, the main reason I’m posting is because of the Christmas lighting. Really really impressed with the whole event. Very organized and peaceful with a really great fireworks show. Definitely recommend catching it if you happen to be in Baltimore around Christmas time.

Great experience! Super friendly staff! Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with claustrophobia or who can’t climb lots of stairs! They are on Groupon for discounted admission. Museum on the base floor (gallery & exhibits) is free, only need to pay if you want to climb the stairs to the top observation section. There are 227 steps on the spiral staircase, no elevator. The path is fairly narrow, so only one group (I think it was up to 6 people) can go up at any given time. Normally people won’t spend too much time at the top as there are not that many things one can do on top other than enjoy the views and take some photos. When we visited, we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes before the previous group came down so we could go up. Climbing to the top is similar to climbing at any lighthouse, but this is very narrow! And I remembered there was only one window (locked) we passed by along the way. During other sections, we really felt like we were in a confined space, and if something happened, we would be trapped there. So this is totally not an experience I would recommend to someone if you have claustrophobia, or are not able to climb over 200 steps. The view at the top was great! You are close to a 15th floor height. There are 4 doors (all locked) that you can see all four directions. Three have a glass panel, one is just with steel bars so fresh air can come in. There is an outdoor section, but doors are locked and the outdoors was not open to visitors. You can see the Baltimore skyline from the inner city side. All in all, it’s a fun, unique, short experience and I would recommend it to anyone (with no claustrophobia and able to climb over 200 steps).

Unfortunately, tower was closed to climbing because of a lightning strike. Otherwise, it was a nice experience.

The monument is a near 15 minute stop. You can climb to the top for $6 (it is a workout and not for those who are unfit or claustrophobic). The view at the top is nice, but not necessarily amazing. The space can get cramped if there are more than about 3 people in the tower. I wish there was more informational signage about the monument that contained more history of the site. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Note that the black statue of the person on the horse is NOT George Washington, but instead is a separate monument to Lafayette).

Hellooo!! The monument is very well maintained... It is free if you want to get inside but you need to pay $6 if you want to go to the top for a view. No elevator. Jus stairs. Theres a monitor where you can see live stream by cameras of the view from the top. The area around is very nice too, especially the church in front...

We stopped by to see this monument and the surrounding areas. There are some nice opportunities for pictures and other statues and a church nearby that are quite nice to look at.

Great view of the City...227 steep steps to the top...they are limiting the amount of people that can go at any time to 5 so there may be a wait to go up

We visited unsuccessful on 12/23, which should be open. We bought the tickets for all the family members who visited us and now the tickets are no longer needed.

One of my favorite landmarks in Mount Vernon, and also in Baltimore in general. Fascinating history, the uniqueness of the statue at the top, the various other elements surrounding the plaza - honestly, I'm still shocked we have had so much trouble picking a nickname for our city when James Madison said it best. 'Baltimore, the Monumental City'. It's got a nice ring to it, and sure sounds more plausible than 'The City That Reads', or 'The Greatest City' or even 'Charm City'. Maybe 'Birdland' is as accurate, but I digress. I have been here for the lighting ceremony, and that was a heckin' good time, I'll tell you what. I also have climbed the tower, which I strongly recommend if you are curious what your heartbeat sounds like to the other people with you on the climb. Doesn't sound to hard, but when you are roughly 450,000 stairs up it sure doesn't feel like the 210 or so originally promised. Or maybe my cardio is flagging somewhat. Either way, if you want to see black spots in your vision as you look over some amazing views of downtown Baltimore, this climb is for you! This was quite a fun place to visit, and I will be back here again! At the base, where the steps aren't.

Yesterday I discovered that I have claustrophobia, please can you include some information for Spanish-speaking tourists, I have basic knowledge of English and I lost some details in the explanation, I could not finish to go upstairs since I felt very bad for the reduced space and the few windows, I almost fainted. Apart from that, the place is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. please improve the signs at the monument. Thank you.

Normally a quiet place in a rather art and thoughtfully mindful place in #Baltimore, home to the Walters, some other lesser but still great places to look at ... things. try some. eat some. you know.

Was interesting to learn more about the og monument. They have cool touch screens that you can scroll through. Ticket to the top is 6$ for adult, $4 for kids. It's worth it! Beautiful views and you get a calf workout.

The Washington Monument is a tremendous historical structure in the heart of Mt Vernon. It’s minutes away from the Inner Harbor and The “Charm’tastic Mile”. The Holiday tree lighting is just a month away. The Water’s Art Museum is within steps. It’s a must see when in Charm City.

I love historical places, especially when they have interesting architecture, and this entire area is full of statuary, fountains, and interesting buildings.
