This museum and library is a must see if you're visiting the Baltimore area or if you are planning a day trip. Amongst the 48 room mansion you will be stunned by the famous John Work Garrett Library. There are over 30,000 books, some of the oldest and rarest in history. The library is opened to public for private event's upon reservation. The mansion is filled with amazing original artwork like picasso, François Auguste René Rodin and many other collectors and patrons of the arts. There is even a guest book signed by all of The Evergreens visitors including Amelia earheart. I was very impressed by the many layers of architecture and history this beautiful place has to offer. I recommend visiting in the summer so you can experience the true beauty of the formal gardens but any day out of the year is perfect if you want to retain a part of history.

The Museum and Library are still closed, but it was a treat to take a self-guided tour of the grounds with the handout provided.

I photographed a lovely wedding and I still can't stop thinking about how beautiful the grounds were during golden hour. The light hits this location in the best of ways right before sunset. The indoor locations were just as interesting to photograph in as the outdoors. With so many locations just in one place it made it super easy for me to get a variety of images in a short amount of time so that the couple could get back to the party in no time! Can't wait to photography here again!

Absolutely inspiring place. I've never seen such an incredible private library. What a family that is, that put together such a magnificent collection of books and artwork. The tour was rigid, however, and we were rushed through the last room, the one designed by Ballet Russe's Leon Bakst, and we didn't get a chance to read explanations of the display. I don't know why the hurry, as no one was waiting for the following tour. Would suggest a bit more flexibility so that people can ask questions and take a bit of time. We made the trip to Evergreen mainly to see that room so we were disappointed in the end.

Today we had the pleasure of touring Evergreen. We were greeted immediately and made to feel welcome. I have never had such a docent as Mumtaz. He was charming, extremely knowledgeable, and brought the past to life. I left wanting to know more due to his enthusiasm. The home is stunning with many interesting and unusual pieces. I highly recommend a visit.

The Biltmore of Baltimore! Another one of Charm City's incredible hidden gems. Fantastic docent-led tour of a mansion filled with beautiful intricate art and stories.

We had the opportunity to see the Tiffany glassworks exhibit and chat with Alysha and Paige about the history of the home and gardens. They were both super knowledgeable and a delight to converse with about so many aspects of this fantastic site. While we did not tour the interiors, the museum will be changing their tour schedule to provide greater flexibility and to meet demand come early September 2023. Can't wait! The grounds are lovely and while a number of structures no longer exist, in some cases one can see the foundational remains and only imagine how impressive this home must have been previously. Nevertheless we enjoyed the tranquility while we walked the grounds. We'll be back for sure come autumn!

There is an amazing collection of books (i.e. original Audubon and Gould hire folios), Tiffany windows and chandeliers, art, etc. The staff of volunteers were knowledgeable and gracious.

I especially enjoyed our visit to this guilded-age home; I am grateful that we returned to get a docent-guided tour. I suggest that you call ahead as sometimes the tours are canceled as it was on our initial trip out.
