Yuengling Traditional Lager is my favorite beer. My wife and I toured this brewery on our honeymoon and it was an awesome experience. The brewing is mostly done in underground caves connected by tunnels. We toured the brewery as well as sampled some beers some of which were not not available yet in stores, like their mango beer. They incredible beer but unfortunately it is not sold where I live. When one of my siblings visits from back East they always bring Yuengling with them, as I, my dad, and brother all love their beer. The Yuengling brewery is the oldest brewery in the US and fun fact, before the Prohibition, they used to have a large tap somewhere on the side of the brewery where locals would come and could get as much beer as they wanted for free. Totally worth checking this brewery out if you are in the area, and don't forget to try their beer. My wife bought me a Yuengling baseball cap from the gift shop when we were there in Nov. 2020, and I still wear it every day. I have lots of people in my area recognize the name and ask where I got the hat.

The tour took about 1 hour to complete. You traveled back in time to see how the original brewery operated. I had no idea that they used caves to store the beer that were bricked off during prohibition. So cool to walk through that! Also loved the Rathskeller! Our tour was free with two sizable samples at the end. It was educational and well-done! Really enjoyed our experience ❤️

Very very very cool experience, I recommend it for everyone, however, it can be difficult for those who can not walk stairs so be weary of that, and if you can not walk that, they do give that person a free extra beverage. For the kids (or kids as heart), they have unlimited birch beer, so definitely try that. Their gift shop is also fun and filled with inexpensive gifts. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely return again!

Visiting Yuengling Brewery was an unforgettable experience that took us on a captivating journey back in time. The best part? It was completely free! The tour offered a fascinating exploration of the brewery’s rich history, immersing us in its heritage and showcasing the original spring caves. Our tour guide was truly awesome, providing engaging and insightful commentary throughout the one-hour experience. As residents of Pennsylvania, we can’t believe it took us so long to visit this gem. Bringing the kids along made it an exceptional weekend trip, as they were able to witness the craftsmanship and tradition behind Yuengling beer. The cherry on top was the two complimentary pours at the end, allowing us to savor the flavors of this iconic brewery.

This was a really good tour! Pleasantly surprised. Not just a walk through some pristine factory. This was the real deal. Walking through caves, half bricked up by the feds at prohibition. Old repair shop, stained glass ceiling, brew house. Nice tasting room and shop across the street. This is an old real working brewery and bottling facility. Highly recommend!

Beautiful facility in a gritty historic mining town. The museum has a lot of interesting artifacts and there is a ton of merchandise to buy. The tasting room is way too small and is obviously not meant for lingering, as there are no places to sit. There are only standing room tables, big enough for up to 4 people. It is mostly a holding room for people waiting for the tour. Beer is mediocre, though I recognize that's not a popular opinion.

Definitely interesting place to visit. So much history. Amazing to walk through the old brewery. Please don't sell out to anyone...keep it family owned. I'll do my part and keep supporting..🍺🍻🍺🍺🍻

I worked at a brewery for years and really downplayed in my mind what I could be shown ..boy was I wrong. The age and character of this brewery and all the stories that come with it is worth the time on the road it takes to get there. Which by the way, is worth mentioning as well: Pottsville and much of the way leading to it is just as fun to see. Our tour guide was Stephen. He did a wonderful job giving us a history lesson and being the curator the brewery deserved. You get two generous samples out of eight options at the end of the tour. Additional pints are available for purchase at an incredibly reasonable $3. Snacks available in the tap room as well. The gift shop is vast, try to contain yourself!

My family an I took the tour and really enjoyed it. Don't let your bias on favorite beers cause you to miss out on such a wonderful experience. There is so much to see here, so much rich history. Personally I love Yuengling and the factory tour made me like it even more. Made is the USA 100%!

Our tour was everything I expected for a Saturday. No production line running but, still absolutely great! The tour guide was knowledgeable and professional. The brewery is filled with such historic value, my wife and I enjoyed our visit.

Great tour, filled with history of brewery. Tour guide, Sandy, was very informative and well spoken; answered all our questions. Free samples at the end, definite plus! Note tour does involve stairs and slight hill. They do offer an alternative option (video of tour) for those who can't manage the stairs. Must do if you are in the area! There is a public parking lot about a block away from brewery, however it does fill up on busy days.

We’ve done many brew tours including the Guinness and Heineken tours in Europe. This was by far the best and coolest tour we’ve ever done. Seeing the caves that they used to cool the beer in and the old way of brewing beer was amazing. I also love supporting a brewing company that is for America and not bending over backwards to be a woke joke. They also have a great merchandise shop. Love love love Yuengling!!!

What an amazing tour!! We arrived at about 10:40 and did the 11am tour. Our group was large (maybe 40 people), but our guide did an excellent job and allowed time for everyone to have a look at everything and take pics. Free parking lot and street parking is one block behind the building. Lot gets completely full by noon. The tour starts by going across the street to the actual brewery. You enter the caves where beer was originally stored. You go in the buildings and see different parts of the brewing process. You see the canning area. Throughout, there are other nice surprises like prohibition reminants, old employee bar, historical notes, and artwork. The tour really blew me away. In the end, you get to enjoy a sample of some beers in the tasting room (which i believe is the old ice cream parlor). I couldn't believe the entire thing was free! There is a large gift shop with lots or yuengling memorabilia. You can buy 24pk of cans of any of their beers. There is also a small museum area that goes through the history of the brewery. If you have the time or can make the time I would highly reccomend a visit!

If you're in Pottsville, or even in a local area, it's well worth the trip to the brewery to take a tour. Our tour guide, Anita was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. It was really super cool to see the inside of the brewery up close and personal. So much interesting history behind one of America's oldest operating breweries.

The tour starts at 10 Am on Monday ( May 2023). We were a small tour group. We arrived at 9 am and that gave us plenty of time to browse the gift shop. They have a lot of good merchandise options and the fitting room barrel was my favorite. The tour was an hour or longer, great history and huge buildings. Great learning experience. Free samples of beer. Good size parking lot across the gift shop. We had fun I really recommend this tour.

Need cool day trip? Want it to be educational? With a history lesson? Yuengling Brewery is the place! A founding contributor to the way Americans drink beer, this place is rich with history and highjinks! Lovely art installments throughout the property, a diverse tour that goes through some really rad caves and a free sample at the end of the tour? LOVED this place, recommended 10/10 👌

Excellent tour and beer tasting! Amazing history and hand dug caves for fermentation until the prohibition is neat. Just a thought, for safety and time: when the tour was over, we should have walked down between the buildings to get back instead of back tracking. Approx 50 minutes.

While traveling back to Connecticut on interstate 81, we realized we were pretty close to this place and so we decided to make a detour/pit stop. Unfortunately, we got here too late to take the tour, but we were allowed to go inside and look around a bit. I found some great items, and made some quick decisions and purchased them. The staff was very nice and they didn’t pressure us, even allowing us a couple extra minutes to look around. I was very happy to see where my newly crowned, favorite beer comes from. I wish I had arrived a couple hours earlier because I would have certainly did the tour. Perhaps we will be back in the future… My only regret is it took so long for me to discover America’s oldest brewed beer. Good stuff…

We had a good time.at theis brewery. Didn't know it was the oldest in USA. Lots.of.delicious tastings. My favorite.was the Hershey And the Mango flavors. Sadly we were too late.for the tour but the website had the wrong times any way. It said last tour 1p when actually it was 3p. Maybe a special holiday time. The town was quaint and old.

We were in the area for a concert and stopped in Pottsville for the Yuengling Brewery tour. Was surprised there was no charge. It was very informative and our guide, Dusten, was very knowledgeable on the history of the family, locations, and brewery. Since we went on the weekend, the factory wasn’t operating so we missed out on the conveyor belts moving the cans and cases. We got to sample two of the family of beers after the tour. Bought some the Phillies cans since I can’t find them where I live. Also got some t-shirts. Look forward to taking it again during the week.

Great experience! Our tour guide Steven was excellent. The tour was a nice look into the history of yuengling complete with two samples of beer at the end! It was fun exploring the caves and seeing some preserved artifacts from centuries prior. Highly recommend stopping by!

If you're a history lover, this is for you. If you're a beer lover, this is for you too. If you're like me and you love both, then this is a must-see and is well worth the trip. The tour is informative and fun and our tour guide, Kim, was an absolute delight. Getting a peak of the day to day operation of America's oldest brewery was fascinating and the free beer tastings at the end of the free tour was the cherry on top of a great day. We even had the pleasure of meeting and briefly speaking with Mr. Yuengling himself (thanks again to Kim for letting us know he was around). I know they say to never meet your heroes, but he was an absolute gentleman and really made the experience special for us. I will definitely make the trip to Pottsville again to visit this brewery.

Awesome tour of the oldest continuously operating brewery in the United States. Coolest part are the caves which were hand dug into the mountain under the brew house to store the resting tanks back in the day. Delicious beers are the end & tons of merch in the gift shop too.

Great tour with Abby! She is smart & knows the interesting history of America’s oldest brewery! The tour is free and you even get two free samples of Yuengling. Just be sure you can do the stairs & wear closed-toe shoes.

The Yuengling Brewery Tour is the greatest tour! So my ch history and some of my favorite beer on the planet. My biggest regret for living in Seattle now is losing out on the Yuengling I grew up with. The sooner we can get it in the west the happier, or hoppier, we will all be!

We took a tour on Thursday at 10am and it was awesome. The group ended up being only 10 people which was great! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and kept the tour moving at a great pace. They offered 2, 7oz samples for free at the end. It was a great time but beware if you in the summer, summer if the tour ventured into some very warm rooms 🥵

Sandy, our tour guide, was fantastic. The tour went below the brewery, and had rich history and a neat tour of the production facilities. At the end, there was a free tasting, with additional drinks for (inexpensive) purchase. Highly recommend!

America's oldest brewery has one of the best brewery tours that I've been in anywhere in the country. As a displaced Pennsylvanian Yuengling Lager pulls on my nostalgic heart strings so it was fun to come and see where the beer of my youth was made. If you love beer history this is a tour for you!

  • 5/5 andi n. 7 months ago on Google
America's oldest brewery. Yuengling makes pretty damn good beer. The brewery tour was amazing, you learn a lot of history about the brewery and its founding. I don't want to ruin the experience you just have to go and check it out yourself. If you like Yuengling, beer in general, or even just history I would highly suggest checking out the Yuengling Brewery and doing the tour.

Awesome history behind the brand. Especially the caverns and the early days. Kim our tour guide was friendly and gave the tour like a pro ( she has done 500+).
