Zero Stars for this place! 12hours in the waiting room?! I’d rather be left to die than be taken here again.. Disappointed is not even the word to describe my visit to this hospital. Disgusted is! I arrived to the hospital around 12pm on 4/14 and left the hospital around 12am with no idea what is wrong with me because nobody ever saw me. I was taken for test.. results? no idea.. No one checked on me, nobody cared. I was left in the waiting room with a handful of other patients to rot. Its like we didn’t matter and if they made us wait long enough we would just go away. And after 12hours, I did. I had to ask how can I leave, what do you need to do so I can go home. And they lady at the counter gave me a note for work and away I went. This morning, still have chest pains and can only pray my primary can see me before the holiday weekend.. it’s unlikely. The waiting room tv had cuss words every 5 minutes and the place could not be dirtier. The bathroom made me feel like I had to scrub myself down with bleach. Urine was everywhere. I didn’t see one person sanitize ANYTHING for 12hours!! DISGUSTING! Some sort of liquid was splattered on the divider walls, the wall that runs along the waiting area has goo all over it, trash on the floor, dirty blankets everywhere. Just disgusting.

This hospital has gone down hill. From the upkeep of the bathrooms and waiting rooms to the miscommunication from certain staff members, I am disgusted this this hospital. My family member has been here for 4 days. The first day the communication and updates were very good. Then the next two days, the assigned nurse was not forthcoming with information and gave us an attitude when we asked for more information about something that was happening with my family member. Thank God the assigned nurse today is very happy to provide information, answer questions, and keep us updated. The room my family member is in also has an in-room toilet that is under a sink. The toilet has not been used by my family member during their stay yet the smell coming from the area is disgusting. The toilet also has mold under the rim. Trying to get someone to come restock toilet paper proves to be more difficult than one would expect due to outdated signage. For example, the bathroom has a sign advising to call 00317 for environmental services but calling that number directs you to call another number and when you call that number, they can't help unless you are an employee or patient. I was told to go find someone. The cafeteria has sgns they are open until 7:30 pm. Please explain why at 3 pm every single station was closed except for the pre-made and single serve items. Also, for a hospital that only has 'heart healthy' items, why are you selling the chemical laden diet sodas and not juice flavored waters?!

My wife has been sitting in the emergency waiting room for 14 hours waiting to see a doctor. We have been told that there's 22 exam rooms and they are full without anyone moving. They don't offer any food or water which when you go to a vending machine is over priced and junk. Our medical system is sad! I'm sorry to feel this way but my pets don't have to wait this long without food, water, or medicine or being seen by doctor.

My wife was admitted at the ER and had stayed overnight. I was with her the first day, but they hadn't moved her from the ER by the time another family member relieved me. The nurses were still trying to find her a room "upstairs" by the time I left. Sometime during the night, she was moved. I assume this was "upstairs" somewhere. I later learned this was incorrect. I thought visiting hours ended at 9pm. I went to see my wife at the same building I last saw her, the ER. When I arrived, the safety officer directed me to the glass booth where 2 nurses were sitting. There was no line, so I walked right up to the glass. One nurse rudely told me to step back because they were talking about a patient. So, if this was so important, why were they openly talking about PII at a booth where people come for help? I mean, anyone with good ears (or could read lips) could still hear what they were saying. These 2 were not the brightest of their class, I suspect. Anyway, isn't their job while sitting there in the ER to help those who come to them? They could have stopped their gossip for 2 seconds to answer my questions. Anyway, I was looking for my wife. I knew that they moved her to an ICU room, assuming this was "upstairs". One nurse rudely responded that they have lots of ICU rooms. Yes, I understand this, I just want to know which of the many rooms is where they put my wife. They could not answer my question and directed me to the blue awning entrance. Okay, fine. Even they had me walking in circles when I had to find a particular doctor, but I headed that way. I probably burned about 10 minutes just trying to get to where they put my wife. It wasn't even 8:30p when my daughter (who was with my wife) called to say that they would not let me come see her. I ended up leaving very angry. My recommendation for those with a poor bedside manner, rude tendencies, and the inability for compassion....stay out of nursing. Your ignorance will come off as incompetence, and those seeking medical attention don't need that feeling looming over their heads in hopes that maybe they came to the right place.

I was in Emergency Room on May 08, 2022 with chest pain. I was there 13 hours without seeing any doctors. They said they have no vacant beds. When I was there, a nurse checked out my blood pressure, then another nurse did E.K.G., and blood drawn. After that, someone took X-ray of my chest and told me to wait at the waiting room. I was there for another 4 hours and then another nurse took 2nd time EKG and blood drawn. They told me to wait again and after 9 more hours, I was not seen by any doctors. I told them that I have more complications due to whole 13 hours. My body was shaking due to all 13 hours without any food and no sleep. I told them that I’m a diabetic patient. They told me that there is no bed available; so I requested them to take off my IV syringe. My chest pain got worsened due to all 13 hours without any treatment. So, what the nurses did were: 1. Two times EKG 2. Two times blood drawn 3. One time X-ray And, I was not seen by any doctors within the 13-hour period. Can you imagine ?

DO NOT COME TO EMERGENCY DEPT !!! IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY!! Nobody could help me locate my sister that was transported by ambulance. Staff was standing around watching Raven's football game while family members were waiting to be helped to find loved ones. Apparently FOOTBALL IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PATIENTS LIVES!! Get it Together Bayview!!

John’s Hopkins Bayview needs to be review/investigation. It’s no way this hospital should have an emergency department with waiting times exceeding 10+ hours. This hospital doesn’t follow protocol with priority for patients with breathing issues. This hospital will leave asthmatics and Covid patients in the waiting area for 10+ hours with no updates. I’m not sure where the disconnection is with this location and the main hospital but this emergency room needs to be under investigation. The lack of care for patients, understaffing, lack of cleanliness and disorganization it’s not up to protocol for an operating emergency room.

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. Been in the emergency room for almost 12 hours going through a miscarriage, been in pain, thirsty, hungry and bleeding out. Was told by my provider that this is the only hospital who does the d&c and to come if i was experiencing certain symptoms, which i am. Said there’s a 33 hr wait but no one informed me of that when I checked in. Keep asking what I’m in for causing me to relive my loss and now my partner can’t stay with me while I go through this traumatic experience. Then a nurse ( to be named later) on the night shift thought that screaming and yelling at me would make this experience any better. I’m livid in here with zero help or emotional support. I will never visit Johns Hopkins again for anything!

Worst service ever. The waiting area and bathrooms are disgusting and multiple staff members ignored the filth and the patients asking for help. my husband was brought in by a medic from a car accident and I was told I couldn’t go back until he was in a room and they did not have a estimated time when a room would be available. They told my husband that my daughter who was in the accident also and in the same ambulance was going to be taken to a different floor then him and still wouldn’t allow me to come back to be with her. This was an absolute horrible experience and completely unprofessional and disgusting setting.

0 stars, if I could. Went to the ER here for what I suspected to be appendicitis (acute lower abdominal pain so bad I couldn't walk, laugh, sneeze, or drive over potholes without it being an 8.5/10 or more on a pain scale). Had a fever of almost 102, and my blood pressure was 155/110 (and is usually around 118/77). No one seemed concerned...... After waiting for 6 hours, I finally got labs taken and a CT scan done. Eventually, I was provided an IV bag of fluids but since they had no rooms available and I was in the waiting room/lobby... They taped the fluid bag to the wall. As you can imagine, this really wasn't sturdy so the IV bag fell off. I had to hold it up myself until a nurse came to re-tape it. After 3x of the bag falling, I was finally provided an IV stand. There was blood all over the bathroom floors. And it seemed that the only way to be seen was to yell/make a scene/threaten staff and nurses. Didn't see a single custodial staff member for 16 hours. 8 hours after my CT scan, I still had not heard anything and was still in increasingly more severe pain (they said results would be documented in 45-60 min), but wholly ignored and was told "please sit down, we are doing all we can". I finally got the CT scan results the next morning via MyChart, without a doctor talking to me. I honestly just left to go home after that and scheduled an appointment with my PCP to discuss the results. Turns out I was on the verge of organ rupture, as evidenced by the extreme inflammation in the CT scan and my critically abnormal labs. Organ rupture!!!!! He said if I don't get to an ER ASAP, it could result in death. Went to a different ER and got taken care of. So upset that I will have to pay for 18 HOURS of nothing at this facility...... Truly appalling in every way. I know that a lot of this has to do with understaffing and underfunding but still... Get it together, Johns Hopkins Bayview. I literally could've died and they didn't care.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hospital. The nurses are very disrespectful. The doctors are very unhelpful, and it takes them forever to do anything. My son was there actively getting worse because of the conditions at the hospital, and when I asked if I could take him somewhere else where he can get better care they literally told me no. "It's pretty much like a prison. we have to be the ones to transfer him". and by this time we had been there over 48 hours. And if I tried to take him somewhere else myself I would be arrested on the spot when all I was trying to do was get the best care for my son. I will never ever return to this hospital again. I don't care if I'm bleeding out.

I arrived at the ER about 0245. They registered and triaged me then put in a heparin lock, no IV, and sent me to the waiting room. As I looked around, I saw quite a few people with heparin tubes with no IV. At 0945, after sitting there for 7 hours, I had them remove the lock and left. One woman sitting near me had been there since 10am the morning before; 24hours later this 80+ year old woman was still waiting. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! I won't be repeating that mistake, EVER!

Worse experience ever. Left my sister who cannot walk in an ER room with no call button . She needed help going to the bathroom and was yelling for help, nobody came. I kept calling the nurses station while home trying to get someone and was on hold 20 minutes. I drove to the hospital. 3 people at the desk , my sister lying in feces for close to an hour .I questioned the Dr about her care and I'm banned from seeing my sister .

My husband was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview by ambulance. He has been in the emergency dept for at least 18 hours. They did a CAT scan and that was all. No doctor. He was forced to sleep in a wheelchair overnight. No food since yesterday morning. I called and they told me they could only give him crackers. I cannot take anything to him or take him to a different hospital because I am handicapped. This is intolerable.

I've been in the ER for 12 hours. There's a woman here waiting for a transfusion. She's been here for 48 hours. There are several people sitting in the ER who have been here for more than 24 hours. The staff is busy socializing and not getting people taken care of. The security guards harass you for trying to get comfortable, but you can't get a bed.

The only reason I give 3 stars is because of the 2 nurses that treated me well after the fact. But this one nurse in the OR was soo rude. She made my waking up from anesthesia experience horrible. I was self soothing by moaning and she told me to “just stop” said she doesn’t know why the bariatric team doesn’t tell us about the pain and even said she had three children and experienced gas pain she’s sure mine weren’t as worse as hers. Just rude and uncalled for. Didn’t offer any remedy to sit me up, get me ice or walk with me. It was so bad another nurse had to step in. I need an apology from her and this to be looked into.

We have been here since 11:30am tues. No one has told my mom about her EKG, blood work, cat-scan & chest x-ray. Waiting on a doctor. I understand critical patients come 1st but after 15 hours of waiting , not knowing anything is frustrating. Got ER bed at 1:44am wed. Doctors & nurse are great. Need to do better on time waiting in er. Being told its a long wait time & you have waited 15 hours.

This hospital is a joke!! I wouldn't take a dying insect to this ER!! I was left sitting in waste for over 24hrs!! I was brought in via ambo. Even after notifying staff. I could not walk or take care of myself. They lied to my husband and mother. Do not leave your love one's alone in this hospital. The admitting staff, nurses and doctors in this hospital are worthless!! And the hospital is only worried about collecting on the bill. That is what I was repeatedly told today. We can't do anything about the bill because it's a deductible gtfo it's part of a charge that was not covered by my insurance!! This is disgusting you don't care about the patient. Worhless sorry excuse for medical care!! Even the other doctor's in this hospital dont recommend going there!!

I am convinced any hospital with the name John Hopkins attached to it will always be a wait. This was my first time coming to Bayview hospital. The organization here is terrible. I have seen people walking around with pee cups no knowing where to put them. I have seen throw up in the trash can of the women's restroom no one cleaned. All while I'm waiting now for 5 hours. I have had my results for 2 hours now from the MyChart website. I go speak to someone at the triage and they say people have been waiting for 27 hours!!!! For John Hopkins to be one of the most sought out hospitals for nurses and doctors I don't understand why they are backed up the way all their hospitals are and also why are they not treating patients until the next day. I have come in here for possibly a common cold but to wait til the next day to hear a doctor say that is crazy. Never will I ever come back here on my own free will!

If I could give this place a zero, I would!! As well known as Johns Hopkins is, as well as me being an employee for the main hospital, I now understand the low reviews posted here!! I went there earlier today for a foot matter and initially the experience was fine as the check in and triage area went smoothly. However, as it got time to be seen for my results, I literally waited for almost 6 hours just for some results!!! The waiting room was full of people just waiting to be seen!! There were 2 individuals who were there for almost 12 hours just to be seen!! Apparently, this is not an emergency room because the last time I checked, an emergency room takes care of the patients in a reasonable amount of time!!! DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY EMERGENCY!!!!

The staff at Bayview is incredibly helpful. My husband has been in for surgeries and outpatient procedures and the team in the 3rd floor waiting room is so kind. Miss Beverly is awesome! He has spent some time in the Emergency Room area, 2 thumbs up all the way around. He also had a few days last year on the 4th floor, and the Nursing staff was absolutely amazing. One thing that i noticed in all of these areas, EVERY TIME someone entered the room, they disinfected their hands. This gives me a great deal of confidence in the care received there.

If I could rate negative, I’d choose that option. Went for an ER visit because of pressure I feel in my skull for 6 days, which constitutes an emergency to me. After waiting in the lobby for 2.5 hours, I ask the receptionist for status and estimate.... SOMETHING. She tells me she doesn’t know and she can’t tell me.... ended up leaving to go elsewhere. Horrible first experience. Won’t be going back. Didn’t help the drunk person in the lobby got more attention than my actual medical issue.

The medical staff and woman who checked me in after my car accident were compassionate and professional however... There were a few instances where I was mistreated by supporting staff. An older Indian woman. Gawked and laughed at me when the nice woman with purple hair checked me in. The Indian woman also made suggestive commentary about my name and license.... Way to make a victim of a car accident feel even more hurt at the moment... It didn't stop there, the group of security staff, all stood around making jokes about me and laughing in my face. I was alone and feeling targeted until my mom showed up to assist and accompany me. After being triage processed ( the woman who did so was so sweet ),I was sent back into the lobby where the young men on the security staff continued to peek and laugh at me like I was a carnival oddity.... Once I was actually seen by medical staff, Morgan took care id of me, the doctors and nurses did as well... But the first impression, based upon the supporting staff. Was a very demeaning and discriminatory one. Luckily I have a lawyer on retainer...

A few years back I used to visit my mother often at this hospital due to a chronic illness; the nursing staff and my mothers doctor was always on point and was willing to provide services for my mother but however back then I was not a huge fan of the security guard team. Some were very unprofessional and petty, for example one day I came in to visit but first I wanted to go the cafeteria and one security guard that I actually knew personally greeted me and informed me that I had to check in first. Pullum decided to become invasive he started asking who I was; where I was from etc; personal information that was none of his concern so politely asked why was he asking back to back to back questions and that it was none of his concern since I was in the process of being checked in. Pullum became ballistic and began yelling at me saying that I was about to walk past the desk without checking in ( which was false, as soon as I entered the building I was greeted by the other officer) I was in complete shock and reported him to his supervisor; then a day later a random person began to harass me on social Media relating to the incident. After that I had to call and file another complaint, I was appalled by this behavior hopefully since time has past there are better officers working behind the desk I understand that he was trying to do his job; but the way he handled it in general was not the correct way. I did not appreciate being harassed on social media. That was childish

This is probably the worst hospitals ever, highly do not recommend!!!!!!! These workers are completely ignorant, they have no consideration that people are here for a reason. I came to visit my father because he was rushed to the hospital due to his heart and the security are disgustingly just rude to everyone that walks in. No customer service no hospitality!!!! People are going through things and then have to deal with this type of people. I hope this hospital someday gets their staff and all around hospital together. I am so upset the ambulance brung him here. FRANKLIN SQ HOSPITAL IS 10000000x better!!!! Please do not go here, all they’re worried about is making a check and not your well being!!!!

My mother in law was admitted to bayview and after a few days off doing okay, she became Lethargic on Saturday. The nurse tried to give her meds however she didn't or wasn't able to take. The lazy nurse Christina didn't even call the doctor to advise that something wasn't right with her. She told my sister in law that calling the doctor wasn't her responsibility. These nurses are just there for the money not to actually care for people. This is unacceptable for any person in public service. If that were her mother, she would want another nurse to do everything they right way. Bayview hires the most careless individuals ever. This isn't the first issue. At the time we had no choice of where she could go because the hospital availability. Healthcare in this hospital is a joke and this is going to bed known by the world.

Hands down worse most unprofessional hospital in MD. If you have a serious trauma accident, your better off at Patient 1st. Spent 2wks in ICU while the nurses and Dr's watch you moan all night in pain. With over 10 broken bones and spinal injuries, they will treat you like a drug addict if you ask for pain medication to be comfortable. Wish I could give names and say more, but they end it here for a reason

Just like everyone else has stated about the wait times. Been here twice in the last 2 months and out of 20 + hours of waiting in the waiting room I have yet to see a doctor. At least I have my chart and can see the results of test that have been done and check on with my primary care doctor via app and see what I should do next.

I retired from Hopkins Bayview after 20 years. I'm a cardiac patient have heart disease for 15 years now. Went to the ER on a Saturday with chest pressure and a little shortness of breath. They did an EKG give me aspirin and blood work for 3 hours to determine I wasn't having a heart attack thank God. After 5 hours of waiting I asked the nurse to D/C my IV. Heading to the cardiac cath lab Friday August 26th. Before I retired they used to have a fast track around the corner from the old emergency room. I think that would be a good idea to have a fast track so you can rule out emergency versus non-emergency I feel it would keep the flow going a little better. I understand the emergency room is for life-threatening emergencies and 🚑 are coming and going. I truly believe they should open up another fast track.

Great hospital to go to if you’ve got a couple days to kill while you wait to see someone. Also, you can wander down “restricted” hallways for some reason. You’ll only know they’re restricted because you eventually stumble on a security guard who will berate you and then refuse to let you go back. Instead they make you go outside and re-enter through the ER entrance like a “choose your own adventure” that you didn’t even want to play.

Their focus on the patient and their family is second to none and is greatly appreciated! We can't thank the ER and NCCU enough!

My grandmother was transported here by ambulance due to an injury to her wound. After waiting for hours, they released her with her heel hanging from the tendons. No surgery, stitches, or anything. They just wrapped her back up, still bleeding from the wound, and told us to follow up with her woundcare and primary care doctor the next day. The woundcare center was applaud, and apologized to us for how Bayview handled her wound.

How this hospital is legally operating is beyond me. I myself came to the ER a couple months back and was waiting over 30 hours and was not even put into a room, I was sitting in a hallway with 10 other people for almost a day and a half. My son went to the pediatric unit last night for a 102° fever, hunched over with severe abdominal pain unable to eat or drink and they tell me it’s constipation and give him Motrin. What? They did a urine specimen that came back indicative of a UTI however they didn’t even call me with those results or message me on MYCHART, and send us on our way. My son a day later is still hunched over in pain not eating and won’t get off the couch and I have to take him to another hospital to get evaluated as his primary says the symptoms are too severe to be seen in the office. I am livid that you can have a five-year-old with a 102° fever hunched over and say “probably constipation”. When has constipation ever caused a fever and made a child unable to eat or drink in the history of medicine? They have one physician in the pediatric unit, although the wait for the pediatric unit is a 10th of the adult unit, with a hospital like Johns Hopkins, you need more physicians. This place is a joke.

I had 2 skin grafts... One was huge!!!!! The burn/wound unit on the 3rd floor is awesome. I was there for a total of 2 months. Because of infection. Dr. Caffrey and Dr Scott Sylvester are awesome!!! They did a great job. And the whole unit kept me out of pain, the best they could... If ur going because u burnt your self, really bad, they have a burn icu too.. Just for burns. November and December I spent there. So it was really recent...

Worst emergency room ever, had metal stuck in my eye , never got seen sat there for 6 hours then left. I wasn't a priority...there were fights people sitting around everywhere, people sleeping on the floors. Seriously the worst.

Stacie Watson from the environmental care working is very hard-working, professional, and very detailed at her job. Both times that my mother was kept at the hospital after her surgery, she took her time to assist With cleaning and managing of the room. She’s very friendly, and I appreciate all her work. Sometimes you can leave the hospital feeling more sick than when you came in especially with all the germs. But her work ethic minimizes that risk. Thank you so much!

I'm giving 3 because every time I've stayed at Bayview, everyone was amazing and the food was yummy! However, the people that answer the main line make you want to find another hospital. They need to be trained or replaced. And as always the er wait sucks, but seriously that's everywhere.

My experience at Bayview was amazing. From the Check in to post surgery. I had surgery on my foot on the 29th of April. The anaesthesia doctors were amazing and Dr Aiyer was so professional and talented. The nurse who looked after me was so nice and kind. Overall a great experience. I would highly recommend Johns Hopkins Bayview hospital. Thank you so much for the excellent care.

I am livid. I brought my son here out of desperation even though I have never had a positive experience at this hospital myself. My son had extreme belly pain, would not eat and had 102° fever upon bringing him in. We sit in a room for about two hours before a doctor comes to see my son and she presses on his belly and tells me that he has constipation and I need to incorporate more fiber in his diet. What? I told the doctor that my son has 102° fever and is refusing to eat and I am going back-and-forth with her over the fact that this is not a problem with constipation and she is telling me that if it’s not constipation it is something viral. The next day my son is in the fetal position on our couch and will not move and I call his primary and get him a same day apt. They immediately consider his symptoms and do a strep test and it comes back positive. I am so glad that I listened to my instinct and didn’t take in the diagnosis of “constipation”. I am furious at this establishment because my son is five and strep can leave to mini horrible things on top of that they did not care to relieve my sons discomfort or pain other than giving him a single dose of Motrin. I refuse to ever come to this hospital again and I have left reviews on multiple platforms and I wouldn’t suggest that anybody bring their child or any of their family to this hospital

I wish I wouldn’t have wasted my time. I sat in the lobby for over 10 hours. Several people working told me it wasn’t a busy night. I stayed hoping they would be able to help. When I finally saw the doctor he was no help. At all. He told me he doesn’t know what’s wrong. It’s honestly like they didn’t even try. I used the My Chart App and could see my test results. He never mentioned why some blood levels were too high or low until I brought it up. Then he said “oh they’re not important.” If they’re not important why are they on the test lol?!?! Make it make sense. The staff are young and inexperienced. I’m young myself but I don’t sit on my phone laughing at TikTok videos at work while people wait 10+ hours to be helped. I’ll never come here again.

Beware!!!Please be aware of how they bill and ask questions. I saw two Otolaryngologists. One recommended an on site hearing test. I was billed as an inpatient with a high office visit and cost me after insurance over $400. I could have went to Costco and got one for free. The same doctor recommended me to see a balance doctor. We chatted and he looked into my ears. The office visit cost $529 and I am responsible for $140 to pay back after insurance. The billing department is worthless and not of any help or support. Needless to say, I'm never going back.

The nurses working the bariatric surgery post op and recovery were literal angels from heaven. I have never felt, ever, at any health care facility, so listened to and cared for. They were so patient and respectful, and they answered all of my questions. They were so kind and caring. Nurse Morning helped me through some truly terrible pain with expert care. I am so thankful to all of the nurses for their care.

I would not recommend the ER! Your wait time can be from 4-8 hours. Even if your waiting for test results, security staff unprofessional. Talked about patients and stood around on the phone. Certainly not the place you want to go to for an emergency and that’s sad.

I went to see Dr. George Ricaurte, a world famous research neurologist. I should have done my research better instead of taking JH website at its word. He is more infamous than famous. He has been widely and publicly criticized for taking shortcuts in his research and coming to conclusions that are not supported by the medical evidence (google his name and read an article about him in the NYT). Well, it turns out his approach as a practitioner is the same. I came from out of state to see him, desperate for help. He put in less effort than any neurologist I had seen, all of whom received less than half the reimbursement he did (in addition to the facility fee). And you guessed it: without evaluating nearly enough to come to ANY conclusion, including doing the simple due diligence of reading my medical records or taking a full history, he came to a conclusion not supported by medical evidence. Surprise! JH should want nothing to do with this guy if they want to continue to advertise themselves as a destination where conditions are identified and treated that could not be treated elsewhere. Otherwise, they should start advertising as a place where your treatment will be more costly yet less effective than elsewhere. Pay more, get less, and waste your time here at Johns Hopkins! That’s a catchy motto. To reiterate: DO NOT SEE DR. GEORGE RICAURTE. He shouldn’t be licensed to practice medicine.

Do not go here in an emergency!!! My friend was made to wait 10 hours in the waiting room dehydrated begging for an IV. I was told by the woman answering the phone and that they only have 33 beds and he should just sit and wait to hear his name called. This is not an emergency room this is a waiting room. No sense of urgency, no patient care. Totally unacceptable. If I could give negative stars I would.

My husband went to the ER because he had sharp chest Pain. He was there from 2pm until 10pm monday evening. All they did was draw blood. And have him seat until he gave up and return home without seeing a doctor. Their attitudes was so unprofessional against patient . Staff that don’t want to do their job. Come in needing tests and scans; my husband left out the same way he came in the facility, with nothing accomplished.

I seen a ad on craiglist about discounted food so I called her and we chatted and she told me how she get s discounts from here and was able to give me a good price on some o the food items. After I paid her she gave me HALF of what she promised and the food was also bad. I'm getting a lawyer involved because I'm pretty sure this is illegal to resale BAD food

I just want to say that I would be dead today if it were not for the emergency, ICU, critical care. I am so indebted to John Hopkins, Bayview. It is unreal. I am so thankful to them. I can’t say thank you enough because honest to God, I would be dead today and that is so real. I thank you so much for taking care of me. The way you did. Your staff is amazing. The doctors in the ICU were amazing. The nurse staff amazing third floor staff. Amazing. I cannot say enough and I just thank you all so much.

I understand the ER at Hopkins Bayview is a trauma center; however, I was in the ER with my sister for NINE hours before she was even seen by a doctor (still waiting as I write this review). Other patients mentioned they’d been there for 10-12 hours and a nurse stated that some patients are in the ER for TWENTY FOUR HOURS, and that’s the norm across ERs in the area. ! I’m sorry, unacceptable. The chairs are uncomfortable and there are scarce outlets to charge phones, in case people need to stay in touch with relatives or do something to pass the extreme amount of time. It is my hope that Bayview would more efficiently serve all levels of patients.

I came here for a health emergency and the Triage Nurses in the ER were AMAZING. They were very quick to do my intake, made sure I had everything I needed due to outrageously high wait times, and so sweet when they saw I was getting upset and came right to my rescue (always fun tearing up in public! Haha.) I felt very comfortable with them. Barrie, Carmen, Miranda, Deanna and anyone on the team I missed - THANK YOU! I will always give credit when credit is due. They all need raises. My gratitude is endless. :)

If I could rate this place a negative 5 if I could! The doctors are good, but the rest of the staff is HORRIBLE! They’re all so rude, insensitive and slow! My son and his girlfriend were in a terrible car accident and brought by ambulance. Took me calling 3 times for someone to even find them in the hospital. First 2 times I was told to try a different hospital because they weren’t at Bayview when I knew for a fact they were. They kept trying to tell me I couldn’t be there with my son, who is 17! And they refused to let anyone in to see his girlfriend because she’s 19. How do they expect anyone, at any age, who has just been through a trauma, with multiple injuries, multiple procedures and heavily drugged on narcotics to even make coherent decisions?!? We were here for 10 days and most of the nurses acted like my son was being a baby for needing pain meds, took an hour or more to respond to requests for meds and/or needing help. Zero compassion or care in this place! The majority of the nurses should be fired! Oh and our room was only cleaned twice during our 10 day stay and during COVID! What’s the point of wearing masks and social distancing if they’re not even going to clean the facility!? This is literally the worst hospital!

I had an awesome experience when being transported to bayview ER by Patient First! I was checked all night long....went in for shirtness of breath! Was told my covid results were negative after a 6 hr wait then transferred to reg room. Tje staff were all great and I felt cared for the entire time I was there! I am cutrently at St Joseph, a month after bayview, for the same thing but with worsening of condition! Horrible experience! Will never come here again!

Ed nurse was very rude and heartless... did not show any empathy at all. Is this how you trained your nurses @ Bayview??? With the ongoing pandemic and the no visitor policy it is a must that the medical team update family regarding the status of their loved ones, regardless of their age whether he’s a 4 years old or 65 years old... I was just asking for update and this Ed nurse told me that if “ he is interested in calling you”- referring to the doctor -then. he will call you” and he even told me well your son is not a 4 year old so you don’t have a right ... and hanged up on me. Take note this words came out from a nurse....Is this how you treat family members??? More so it’s my son!!!! I hope no one in your family gets sick because until then you wouldn’t realize how it feels to be in limbo not knowing the status of your loved ones.

My fiance was taken by ambulance to Bayview after falling from a ladder and fracturing his spine last year. He spent 3 days lying in a bed before they could find a surgeon to do the surgery. There was talk of transferring him to the downtown location, but they ended up bring the surgeon to him. He as in surgery for 7+ hours with no updates and when the surgery was finally over, the surgeon talked to me for less than 2 minutes because he had to get back downtown. After 2 days in recovery, we were told he could go home, but needed to see the surgeon again in 2 weeks for a follow-up. We make an appointment for 2 weeks out and get a call from the outpatient center one day before our follow-up to ask why we have an appointment because it's only been 2 weeks. Nobody knows what's going on and heaven forbid you miss their call and have to call back. You can't get anyone on the phone. You can sit on hold for an hour, nobody will answer you and forget about leaving a message because nobody will call you back. When you do get to see someone, it's like they don't care enough to answer your questions. They speak really fast, trying to get you out of there and when you ask a question, it's like they get offended that you didn't understand them the first time. Fast forward to today and we just received another bill from Johns Hopkins. His surgery was almost a year ago, so why are they still coming up with more charges? We've been told twice that there would be no more charges and everything was all caught up. This is most frustrating hospital to deal with. If I had a choice, I would never step foot in this hospital again. I don't care if this is the closest trauma center, I refuse service from this or any John Hopkins Hospital.

My husband has post-surgery internal bleeding. His doctor told him to come to JH since they did the surgery. His gastroenterologist said they would admit him through the ER. He has been waiting in the ER waiting room for over 8 hours and still has not seen a doctor or been admitted. Very poor care and communication. I would give them 0 stars if I could. This will make us reconsider whether or not to continue my husband's care through the JH system.

Labor/Delivery/Maternity. I had a cesarean section on 02/12/23. I was hospitalized Saturday/Sunday/Monday. I am grateful to all the team that was attended, the doctors and nurses were very professional and attentive! But in especial I’d like let my gratitude for Hannah Black, a nurse, I was extremely admired and grateful for her work and patience with me. She did all the help that I asked and more, even to remove the blood in the blood vein, she checked my vein several minutes beforehand to see where it would be best. What most professionals take just one look at and the patient is already punctured. With my bandages and probe she was extremely gentle and afraid of hurting me! An incredible nurse! She has the gift of nursing and taking care of people! I speak little English, even on this item she was very patient with me. She deserves all the success in the world and the hospital is a huge honor to have you on her team! Congratulations to Hannah Black for her wonderful gift and professionalism! Forever grateful! God bless you greatly!
