My grandson Shiloh Stansbury has been at this hospital since November 2018 , we are currently waiting for him to get his surgery g-tube to come home. The staff can be rude they dont call us to give us updates on him when we call they barely give us any information. My daughter visits her son at least 4 times out the week . Keep in mind she is 7 months pregnant and is considered high risk. Her social worker claims she can only provide her bus tokens no taxi vouchers. But there are other families who are able to receive both taxi vouchers and bus tokens. The moment my daughter doesn't go to visit and take a break from visiting so much they call her and make her fill lesser than a parent . Or they question when and what time will she be there . Mind u she walks egos long hill every time In order to see her child. She spends 40 dollars in taxi fare to see him and she's not working due to my grandsons conditions. They are not understanding at all they pretend to be I have photos and videos of how the nurses talk to one another about patients and the parents that do and dont come - I also have pictures of mt grandsons clothes which we wash them three times out the week because they take his clothes that we have provided and put them on the bodies of other kids . His clothes have held mildew, poop stains , actually terds in his pants . We have addressed every concern that we have ever had and it hasn't stopped . It's to the point that MY OWN daughter is stressed out and no longer says anything. When my oldest daughter was housed there back in the 80s the nurses cared about the patients and treated them like their own . We vouched for them because Shiloh was there in the summer of 2016 as an infant and he stayed there for two months and everything went real well. But time has changed and although some people have good things to say I dont . This experience has been the worse for us and john Hopkins isint any better . These doctors and nurses have a job to do they go to school for certain things and like to belittle someone who hasn't. But some of it is common sense . I don't recommend them to anyone . University of Maryland is good about most things . I know no hospital is perfect however, we just ask that u do your job and that u take things into consideration. There is a child in your care. We should feel comfortable and should never feel that he isint getting what he needs.

Lack of communication not very welcoming horrible experiences with a dr there she was very unprofessional I would not recommend this hospital at all! The only good thing there is psychology. I do not agree with there point system my poor boy was in tears because they were going to take points away for him not eating that is his issue along with GI problems unbelievable!

Kayleigh Rodriguez made the first time with my daughter at a nutritionist experience extremely uncomfortable. I would not recommend this Pediatric Hospital, specially not Kayleigh Rodriguez to anyone. Unprofessional,I had never talked to a nutritionist before. At first she made it seen like what we were doing was ok. By the end she acted like we were idiots.

I spent 3.5 months at this hospital with my daughter who was born at 24 weeks and stayed at Johns Hopkins 4 months prior to coming to this hospital, MW. For a parent who has spent 4 months at a great and comfortable hospital (JHH) and going to MW, it was the most uncomfortable transition ever! We were only given wooden rocking chairs or chairs that don’t rock. I was there everyday and for many hours so it got really uncomfortable. They wouldn’t let you sit in the comfy chairs because it’s only If you’re sleeping overnight. The room space is tiny so when my husband and I came, it would be even more uncomfortable. We shared a room with 3 other families and it was just the worst because there was no privacy. I’m sure they gave my daughter the wrong breast milk one time because I caught one of the nurses about to give her milk from a bottle that I didn’t recognize. I immediately said something and sure enough it wasn’t mine. I was very upset. I always gave them breast milk to store for her, but sometimes they wouldn’t give it to her. I wasn’t very pleased with that either. :-/ They are known for being a good feeding hospital to teach babies how to feed. Well, they didn’t do a good job because we ended up just getting a g tube for our child because we could tell they had no idea what to do to help her eat to gain and we just wanted her out. We knew she would do better at home. Sure enough, we were able to get the gtube removed in a matter of months after leaving this hospital. If anything, being there kept her back from thriving. The only thing MW did for our child was wean her off oxygen, which anywhere could have done. Also, trying to get in communication with a nurse was so hard. I always had to leave a message and they never called me back. The communication was horrible. And I felt like they never wanted me there or couldn’t wait for me to leave before they did anything. Overall, I cried the most at this hospital because it was just the worst experience I’ve ever had. We met some great nurses, but it’s not an experience I would want to relive ever. I think they should work on having a more comfortable environment for parents who are there longer than a few weeks. It was emotionally and physically draining. And the front desk people, especially the older man is just rude and doesn’t know what he’s doing, which made it even more stressful.

After hearing what they suggested to do, not only should these people not treat kids, as they are endangering their lives, they should be stripped of any right to practice any type of insulin therapy. Contact me if you have any more questions.

****a year later edit ***** YOUR FRONT DESK ASSOCIATES ARE THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, IMPERSONABLE MEDICAL STAFF I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. They don’t greet you when you come in the door, tell you how to sign in and there’s nothing posted telling you what to do. They are ALWAYS too busy to sign you. They make you feel like you’re bothering them by checking in. I absolutely HATE having to come here. After all the years of coming here the only time the front staff was decent was when there was Owners/Donors of the building here for a visit. I love my son’s Endocrinologist, but the office staff is always ridiculous. After YEARS of coming here it’s still the same problems. Half the staff is miserable and they don’t speak to your children. If you come early for your appointment, as told to in the messages, you WILL sit there until your appointment time. You’ll watch everyone that came in after you get triaged, while you wait for your appointment. I have never once came here for a doctors appointment and not had a problem with the office staff and their ridiculous attitudes. I really wish his doctor would pick a different facility.

My nephew has been there for the past 2 months and it has been nothing but a horrible experience. The doctors are rude and give you attitude. My nephew when visiting had a horrible rash and none of the doctors could explain why he had pop stains still up his back and the doctors say they go in and change him every 3 hours. A new born should be checked more than once every 3 hrs this place is a joke I would not recommend this hospital to anyone I will be contacting higher up about this issue. My nephew now has rash and burns on his butt and inner legs. Do yourselves a favor and take you child to another place that actually cares about the children and take the job they are supposed to do seriously.

The worst experience ever! Disgrace! One day we walked in with our daughter happy and excited to finally get recovery for her future release then ended up being in court with cps trying to stop them from sending my baby to foster care and out of family custody. Please beware of social worker and some nurses there. They have no respect for families and some clearly have bad intentions. We thought corruption and lies doesnt exist but mt washington proved us that wrong. Please tbink twice before planning to keep anyone who you love there.

I don't have a problem with the care, but getting a bill 13 months after service is outrageous. How can anyone run an operation where they get to just tack on a new bill to completed services whenever they need to balance the books. It's unfair, incorrect and basically impossible to contest. Shame on them.

Case worker my daughter had did not do anything and gave me wrong information about many things. My daughter is currently on feeding tube and oxygen machine and I was told by the case manager that they had all the order.... The order for a portable feeding tube with backpack or extra tubing was never put in. And apparently some time in February her MCO was cut off and neither case worker nor the insurance people informed me. When it was close to discharge day.. I had asked the oxygen people if they could deliver the stuff to the hospital since I cannot drive. She had said that they could and when the day came all of a sudden they couldn't and the mini oxygen tank was empty by time of discharge. For the insurance information she had told to keep all the doctors appointment set because she requires specialists and the Medicaid should cover it but she got all the referrals for all of them and that since it was discharged cay she will be re-enrolled in her MCO when she sends everything over to them.... She did not send anything at all. And it took me a while month in a half of phone tag and having high blood pressure to get her put back onto her MCO. Also about a week later the case worker called to check in and was told as was I and it was in discharge papers that she needed to schedule PT for my daughter since she was born prematurely. This woman really needs to retire or get fired. Bc children are important patients especially the babies with a bunch of difficulties. So I wish someone higher up would talk to me because I do not like that like of help and care I got towards my daughter especially at the beginning when I needed the most to get used to setting up and doing the feeding tube.

This place traumatized me as a child. I never recommend anyone to bring their kids here they never care about the sake or wanting to help the child. When I was still going here I was told I had a “bipolar disorder” and immediately I was put on 10 different medications. When I would talk about what was going on at home nothing was done. CPS never got involved, I was told I “needed help” and my favorite one they always used “ so we’re gonna increase your dosage” after I get cut off while telling what the real issue is. They only had college therapists which is why me or any other child in this facility never had the same therapist. This place only profited the insurance companies as well which is another reason why every child wasn’t getting help. Eventually I stopped going and my abuser tried to force me to go and threaten to call the police ( which she did) and the day came when my freedom of this hell hole finally happened when I stopped coming straight home from school. My psychiatrist (at the time) had called me abuser and said “ if she misses another appointment she will no longer be a patient here. And from this point on i really hope parents take consideration on trying to find real help. Mental health isn’t some pay check, it’s real and it exists. Defund mount Washington hospital in hopes of it being shut down for good!!

Long overdue review. I just want to start out by saying thank you!!! I know I had my concerns with this place before I even gave it a chance just going off reviews I read online. It’s crazy to me that I almost passed up the option to get my daughter KEHLANI transferred to you all because of the review I read. I’m so thankful you had my daughter at Mount Washington. I’m so glad you heard our concerns and you addressed them RIGHT AWAY. Dr. Chudow keep doing what you’re doing because the amount of love you show each patient of yours for the breef moment you have with them is just amazing. I’m also impressed u had a folder you carried around and had all my daughters notes in there so if I had ANY questions you had a response. Thank you again for being you and taking amazing care of our daughter. I will add this the 2nd floor has a way better system and layout. Also our daughter care was perfect on the 2nd floor. When she was transferred to the 1st floor (should of never allowed) the care for her was absolutely horrendous and they just acted like she was another number not A baby in need!!! Also Teddy and Adrian for the therapy are AMAZING!!!

We LOVE Mount Washington! My daughter got a trach and we had to come for training. The training was amazing, we were pros by the time we left. Dr A (Akintade) is the BEST inpatient doctor, she was the only doctor inpatient that we felt really wanted to help our daughter and make her well. Then outpatient we see Dr Keane and she is a superwoman as well! Well respected by every specialist our daughter has to see, she does it all! I have never been so happy with a team of doctors as I am with them.

Experience was ok, My Only concern is that They have too many rules and regulations which makes the experience uncomfortable and not want to further Services. I also would like to include that some of the staff can be rude, my daughter went in for a sleep study and the tv didn’t work. Not that it mattered since we were There for her to be tested..and she would be sleep anyhow. But the room next to us television worked fine. And then one of the nurses came in and whispered to another worker that maybe the tv didn’t work for a reason. Hmmm I knew what the reason was, I guess because we were either black or it was our use of insurance. Which in all made me very uncomfortable.

Before you let anyone in the room to see your child ask them if they take your insurance. We took our child there, confirmed they took our insurance prior to the visit. The hospital called in a consult, without telling me, and this useless consult cost me $400 out of pocket dollars because he was not part of my insurance. Have been a patient at the Children's Hospital in DC for 10 years and have never had an experience like that.

Absolutely disheartening at the care my infant son is receiving at MWPH. Attempted to even contact a patient advocate, but she is out of the office until July 11th with no alternate. If you have other options for care, please reconsider.

We were here 10yrs ago, for the longest 4 months of our lives thru our sons illness & recovery from adem, coma tbi & seizures , i remember 1 thing well, them telling me i can't stay till my 3yr old son falls asleep, because he started to follow my pattern & not fall asleep as long as possible, so they made me leave him while he was awake & i could hear him screaming crying thru 2 sets of steel doors & inside the elevator , it was not only Traumatic to myself but also my son,, he is 13 now & still can't stand to be in the room at bedtime alone without me or his dad. I can still feel my heaetache as i would stand crying in that elevator, the tourture & heartache i wouldn't wish on any mom or dad or any family at all. this should not be how to deal w a child especially one sick & that young.

If you/your child has an intake eval with (I prefer not to call her Dr bc she's a joke) Keyports LEAVE...She is worthless and needs to take her self back to med school. She should never have the "DR" in front of her name. I had to go above her to have another intake for my son. Completely different outcome. If you go there and that's who they scheduled you with ask for someone else. You've been warned

We took our daughter here for her first visit at endocrinology with Dr. Akara and had such a good experience! Front desk staff was quick and helpful, we were taken right on time! Dr. Akara, Dr. Jazz/Jackson we’re so kind and patient with us as they explained the appointment and next steps. The phlebotomist was amazing! Our 2 year old didn’t make a peep during her blood draw and even got to pick a prize after. Thank you to you all!

My son was there this month March 2019. It was pretty ok. I really like the nurses and techs. They were helpful and did not mind answering any questions. I really liked my son nurse practitioner she was really nice and took good care of him. What I didn’t like was how I could here conversations of employees talking about one another. I work too and sometime my co-workers and I don’t always agree on things but we do know how to be Discrete with it. Also, I am greatful for the security they have but it takes to long at the security desk to get checked in. One time it took about 15 min to get checked in. I hope in the future the check in process will be quicker.

The team at Mt. Washington are amazing at their job. They are very talented and truly have an understanding of how to educate in addition, challenge children to their fullest potential. The staff at Mt. Washington will move children forward in a way you never thought possible. We enrolled our son in the feeding program. Prior to Mt. Washington, my son only ate pudding, yogurt, apple sauce, and ice cream. Now he is able to chew/eat several different foods! It takes a very passionate and invested team to accomplish something my husband and I never thought possible. Over the years we have worked with several different doctors, speech pathologist and nurses at various medical establishments. We found medical personal not very invested in our son’s progress. We feel if you don’t share our passion for our son’s growth, we need to move onto other specialist. Yet, every time our son has attended a treatment program at Mt. Washington, the team has impressed us with their talents. The Mt. Washington’s team is astounding and brilliant. Thank you Mt. Washington for everything you have done for our son and family.

This hospital is such a GREAT place!!! I absolutely LOVE it! The whole staff are soooo nice and caring, they really Care about all the babies and kids there. You will see the nurses holding the babies while at their computer doing work, & what really made me smile was seeing a security guard walking around carrying a little baby in his arms! It was so sweet! Most places will just leave the babies in the crib and let them cry, but these ppl really Care and seem to love their jobs. I would highly recommend this hospital to any parent that needs their child to go to a special hospital. 5 stars!👌👏✔✔👍😊💯💯💯💯

The staff at the Diabetes Clinic have taken care of my diabetic daughter (and her parents!) for many years. They are professional, friendly, kind, and amazing at their jobs. They have helped us with the transitions from insulin pens to the pump. They have been responsive and helpful when equipment failed or our daughter got sick and could not control her blood sugar. I highly recommend this hospital for outpatient diabetes care!

Atrocious administrative staff. I ended up cancelling an appointment my daughter was on a wait-list for 6 months to get because the experience trying to get any information around billing codes to speak with my insurance about was so bad. Rude communication and no desire to even try to help me get in contact with anyone who could help. I don't want to find out how much worse the experience of dealing with this hospital can get if it's this bad out of the gate.

My son has had sleep studies in the past at Mount Washington & everything went well when he went for the study. I can't remember if I had difficulty scheduling his past appointments, however I'm trying to schedule another study for him & I've called multiple times already & no one I mean no one has returned my call, sent correspondence through the mail, The Pony Express, a pigeon, put the bat signal in the air or anything. I not only work in the medical field myself I am a stickler for excellent customer service & this is anything but excellent. If I didn't need your services I wouldn't be calling & I'm in full support of the young lady that stated if she could give them a zero she would because this is unprofessional, unacceptable & uncaring.

It's people that have great customer service, professionalism plus a great attitude is what makes this world continue to progress in the midst of storms. Demetria was very attentive and she was a pleasure in december as well!!! Always has great knowledge or will learn and figure out what she is unsure of. Her effort is amazing. Now days you have to recognize the people who are naturally respectful and who also has a great knowledge along with passion for her profession. YOU GO DEMETRIA! Terrible Experience Here- Do not choose this hospital for your baby's NICU stay. I feel that I was traumatized after having my son here for several months. 1. Nursing staff were the main issue-We had a great nurse on day one. After that it was a mixed bag: I had one nurse call my son a "monkey." Some of the other nurses were very condescending. One nurse stated that "Dad is doing great, but mom is not confident." What an empowering comment for a first time mom! I had nurses flirting with my partner. Some nurses were downright nasty, and I wondered- if I had never met them before, why they were behaving in an unfriendly manner. 2. Our main doctor was great; highly communicative. 3. Administrative staff were friendly and helpful. 4. There are no bathrooms in the patient rooms and hardly no privacy for each family. The room design does not lend to comfort or thought about families who may have a longer stay. 5. They are understaffed 6. All parent courses and trainings occur during the day and not in the evenings when some people get off of work. 7. Overall it was a judgemental enviornment instead of a helpful, healing, and supportive one.

This is the worst hospital I have EVER dealt with! I have been on a waiting list for almost three years and have yet to have someone call me back. I have called in tears only to be told "I am still on the list" and they can still not give me an estimate as to when my daughter will get an actual appointment. Needless to say with Autism, months matter and they have done irreversible harm! Please do not waste precious time waiting for an appointment that will never come.

Terrible experience with accounting. I would never return to this hospital even if treatment was free. They stopped taking our insurance without informing us. Then they back billed us months later after we had stopped using their services. We are still paying on a debt that could have been prevented and our child was not helped. They put profit before patients and offer no good customer service when dealing with the administrative offices. This is not what you need when you are trying to help your special needs child. I wish there was a rating lower than 1 star.
