Further to my experience of “poor quality” , greasy food servered at John Dory’s Lisburn, I decided to check TripAdvisor & Google in order to find a good Chippy, that sells nice fish and chips, in the Lisburn area….! The 5 star ratings at Mac’s Fish & Chips got my attention, therefore I decided to give this chippy a try! The staff were very welcoming and attentive, however, unfortunately the produce which was served up, really didn’t cut the mustard. I’m now intrigued why these Fish n chip shops can accrue five star ratings, could it be the people who leave reviews are family and friends! The fish ‘n’ chips I purchased looked fresh enough, but WOW…. The “wedge shape” fish tasted as if it had given itself up and had been previously frozen for preservation ! I really had difficulty in consuming this food due to the overpowering flavour of grease, which lingered with me all night..🤢 The chips that were presented, prior to wrapping appeared to look fresh, but looks can be deceiving, the chips were hard and dry and not very palatable …. However the crows and seagulls would disagree, as the scoffed the lot … This establishment appeared to be busy, therefore there’s absolutely no requirement to use pre cooked , pre frozen inferior produce. Sadly, my search for a good chippy, that serves “ proper” fish ‘n’ chips continues …

I have to say without a doubt that Mac chippy is the best in town. The food is beautiful and the staff our more than welcoming, it's lovely to be served with good manners and a bit of craic. Always get a great meal from here. Thank you Jackie and staff. Merry Christmas to you all.

Best chippy in town, great value for money, and always friendly service!! Their chicken fillet burger is a must-order.

I only get a Takeaway, maybe once a month and usually get a burger, which is so tasty. However, I went for a fish supper tonight and it was absolutely delicious . Thank you so much
