Have been to Blackwell house 3 times for afternoon tea. I have had afternoon tea in the majority of top places throughout Northern Ireland and this place is my winner! Head and shoulders above the rest. Every member of staff, each visit, have been attentive, personable and have a passion for what they do. You can really taste the difference and the effort that must go into every part of the food really shines through in the taste. Can’t wait to come back and must give Murphy a shout out. Truly the host with the most 🐾

We stayed in Blackwell House for a night in November. From the moment we arrived we felt so cared for and relaxed. The room was beautiful and the food was just perfect- from the scones, dinner and breakfast, it was all delicious. The hospitality is above anything you would hope for in a larger high end hotel. We really loved our stay as part of our mini-moon and will be back again. Thank you Steve and Joyce

You ever went somewhere and felt like, this is home? That’s what this stay was. If you want the most luxurious, cozy, taken care of, delicious space. Book this place. I wish I would have stayed here the entire time I was in Ireland. I didn’t want to leave the home at all. The food is absolutely exquisite, music is perfect and the owners are just the most wonderful hosts I’ve ever met. I’ve made small changes in my own home since I’ve returned to live more like I did when I stayed there. Thank you all and see you in September!

Where do I start? Blackwell House is amazing, from the inside, which is so clean, IVE not seen anything like it, to the beautiful grounds with lots of hidden places to relax, listen to the birds singing by the lake, to the chickens clucking in the sunshine. The hosts are so kind, they can’t do enough for you, without being over powering, I had everything I wanted without having to ask, from the homemade bread, jams, soups, yummy food to the fresh coffee and vodkas, (not homemade) . Pure luxury from start to finish, oh and I have to mention Murphy, the welcoming committee… will definitely be returning. Thank you

We just had a much needed relaxing week+ at Blackwell House with our two dogs. Steve and Chef Joyce went above and beyond, and took such good care of us while we destressed. In fact, we were so comfortable, relaxed, and cared for that we primarily slept and ate and recharged, with only occasional ventures out to see the local sights. We ate at the House nearly every night, it’s hard to walk away after seeing Chef Joyce’s daily fresh and local menu. Her foods are edible comfort, with a gourmet touch. Steve is pure kindness, his every effort is to give you the experience you need. We plan to return soon!

Steve and Joyce are the most wonderful hosts! Their home, the rooms (we stayed in three), the breakfasts, the gardens, and their precious dog (Murphy) surpassed all expeditions. We also booked a dinner one night, which was also exceptional. Blackwell House the the perfect base to explore Northern Ireland, yet come home to an idyllic peaceful oasis. We left feeling like we were saying good-bye to friends. Cannot wait to return next time we are in Ireland! Thank you Joyce and Steve!!

Outstanding place to stay with the most friendly hosts you'll find. Now where do I start with the food.... Current holders of the best breakfast award anywhere in Ireland and it's well deserved. I'd also recommend the dinner option. We had the melt in your mouth slow cooked beef 🍖 fab-ul-ous. Well done 👍

Fantastic experience. Run by the owners, the husband being front of house, greets you on arrival and serves you throughout your stay, while the wife is the mastermind in the kitchen (apologies, we didn't catch either of their names). Beautiful, & tastefully decorated guest house, with a number of reception rooms. The food was also amazing, definitely worth the money, and the journey to get there. We will definitely be returning to stay the night sometime, just to experience the tasting menu!

Stayed in the Loft Suite. Well worth the extra cost for the use of your own personal jacuzzi and veranda. Excellent breakfast and wheat and dairy food intolerance catered for superbly. Local dinner booked by the team as well another great service provided. Thanks to Steve for organising everything, Joyce for the excellent cooking and all the team for a great experience and Murphy the dog for his friendliness.

Had an amazing stay at Blackwell House. The hosts were lovely and made sure we had every need met throughout our stay. We stayed in The Loft suite and were greeted with afternoon tea on arrival which was delicious. The room itself was fabulous, the bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed a private decking with its own hot tub. We ate dinner there one night and were treated with an exquisite beef and guiness pie, my fiance is still talking about the mash, and we had beautiful salted carmel profiteroles for dessert. For breakfast we were delighted with three courses which left us full and ready for the day of exploring the scenic area around the house. Would highly recommend a stay at Blackwell House and we will be back again!

We had an amazing overnight stay and evening meal at Blackwell House last week. Everything was perfect ... the warm welcome from the hosts, the freshly baked scones on arrival, the luxurious bedroom and bathroom, the delicious 5 course dinner, the peaceful gardens and much more. Thank you Steve and Joyce for a wonderful stay.

Amazing romantic night spent here with the other half. Steve and Joyce and all the staff were so friendly and helpful and accommodating. Hot tub was incredible, such a beautiful garden that it's in. Great place for animal lovers, a lovely dog named Murphy and a load of social and friendly cats that wander around the property looking to be pet, aswell as almost 30 chickens out back which were a delight to meet (Steve even let me hold the big one!) Parking right out front, delicious breakfast with plenty options (and fresh eggs from the hens), such a quiet and private space for true rest and relaxation I'd give 50 stars if I could Thank you so much Steve and Joyce and team for everything, you made our special night so so special 💕

What a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were made to feel welcomed and a part of the family at Blackwell House. Steve and Joyce (and of course Murphy, Maeve, Maggie, Mac and Oscar - family pets) are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them throughout your stay. We had the 7 course taster menu on the Saturday and there is only one word for it, wow! The food was so fresh and tasty and I experienced dishes I would not have chosen for myself. We will certainly be finding a reason to stay here again and soon!
