Fantastic food, friendly service and a warm cozy environment. What more do you need out of the pub, hang on I’ve got one, great beer!!! We visited with our friends and their kids at the weekend, they had a great beer called the Sun Chaser which I could have happily stayed and drank all day. The burger and lasagna were both fantastic. All in all we had a fab experience and it’s one of my new favourites in the area 👍 Also the Chips are great here.

We met as a group of (very) old friends from the local-ish village we all once lived in, so all have great memories of this food based pub. The menu was not particularly exciting, & being a Sunday we all opted for one of the three Roast options. The food was ok. The service good. The ambience & surroundings nice. However we all felt it was not quite what it once was, albeit a lot of years ago! Perfectly acceptable, fairly priced with a lovely location & amenities.

The George & Dragon… Very very lovely pub/restaurant, staff were very pleasant and catering. I had ordered a Moretti, Pizza and some triple cooked chips, and it was exquisitely delicious! P.s. if you do have any fury friends (dogs) they also welcome them too with treats and water on tap!

Could not recommend this pub enough... excellent! My partner and i were staying at bridge lake farm and fishery which is around a 5 minute walk away from the pub. The first night we went they were not serving food but were more than happy to recommend places for us to eat and even booked a taxi for us. The pub they recommended had really good food but still was not as good as the george. The next two nights we spent at the george, every single staff member was incredibly polite, helpful and comforting. They let us sit anywhere we wanted and even move tables to feel more comfortable while we ate. I personally suffer with anxiety and can honestly say this is the most comfortable meal out i have had in a very long time! The pub is dog friendly and yet still incredibly clean and hygienic. Most importantly the food... the food was absolutely delicious, i love burgers and can honestly say the george burger is genuinely the best beef burger i have ever eaten. We will be going on holiday in the area again so so we can revisit the george. 10/10 atmosphere. 10/10 food. 10/10 hygiene. 10/10 staff.

Enjoyed a really good, convivial lunch at the George & Dragon: pub food executed very well. We both had excellent prawn cocktails with a slight kick to the sauce, and then two perfectly cooked steaks - one very rare, one medium - with crunchy onion rings and proper chips. The kitchen here knows how to cook. The pub itself is in a beautiful 17th century building with exposed beams and an old well built into the bar. Wood fires in the bar and dining room make for a lovely, cosy atmosphere. The staff are super-friendly and Dave, the landlord, recommended an excellent Italian red. Can’t recommend it enough. This is what country pubs should be like!

A quiet little pub that is located off the M40. This is a great place to stop for a drink or a pub lunch. Very welcoming with food you would be happy to return for, however this is certainly not the main reason to go. I would say the key reason to return is the service. The food was slightly late (to which we didn't mind) however we were regularly made updated on progress with apologies. Our waitress was great!

Very nice pub for a meal out. Good service, table booked via Open Table, with nice seating and atmosphere. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, and seats outside (next to car park) if the weather is good. Quiet location in a small village. Good potential for walks nearby too. Would happily visit again.

Just popped in for a bite to eat during a flying visit to Banbury. The friendly staff fitted us in (despite us not having booked) and served us the most delicious nut roast and cauliflower cheese. It was lovely that our dog was made to feel especially welcome and we were invited to help ourselves to treats for her from the doggie treat and water station- brilliant! I’d have no hesitation in recommending the George & Dragon.

Lovely evening, nice aesthetics, plenty of parking, bustling but room for customers wanting food in the evening, the food was A+!! Lovely service, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. The tempura king prawn starter was delicious! The 'dragon burger' (a chicken burger with brioche bun and various accompanying fillings) was huge! Came with proper chips and a side (usually char grilled corn on the cob), we were able to change the side and make the burger to our own taste. Too full for pudding so can't comment on that, except to say there was a good selection. We also ordered chilled wine, which you can have in individual small bottles or a normal size bottle to share, depending on party size. The staff were happy to help us work out which was better for our pockets. Pets welcome and outside facilities for those wishing to eat outside. I noted a smoking area with shelter and heating also. I honestly can’t think of anything I didn't like. As I dont usually leave reviews, I thought I should, considering I'm a quite a picky madam. Nothing to complain about here and really enjoyable evening. Would recommend. Thank you.

It attracts the locals. Varied menu but nothing out of the ordinary. Staff were very helpful. If you don't like foul language from the locals avoid as it can be loud and allowed to continue.

We have had several visits to this Pub over the last few years. The staff were very helpful and polite. I had the roast beef, which was very tasty, sadly the quantity of vegetables and potatoes was very small. I understand costs are increasing, but £18 for a roast dinner seems a little high.

Had a very good lunch at the George & Dragon - we all had the fresh baked pizzas and thought they were excellent. There is a nice beer garden out the back of the pub, with plenty of seating to sit and eat/drink. We paid £12 each for the pizzas - with each topping being £1 extra. A bowl of chips were £4 (which was really tasty), and a 330ml bottle of coke was £3.60 which I thought was OK value. Would happily return again.

Still the same wonderful village pub as ever. Great well kept beer and an interesting menu always beautifully cooked. Together with the friendly staff and locals, what more is there to want?

Excellent pu with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Our first visit but we will be back! The new Landlord, Dave and his staff were very professional and welcoming. The food was great and the whole experience did not disappoint! If you are looking for a great pub in the countryside with great food, look no further!

Food was reasonable, but unfortunately we all left hungry, service was great to start with as we were booked in early but unfortunately as it got busy the staff got a bit overwhelmed, not enough staff on the bar, manager appeared to be firefighting in all departments. The experience was slightly tarnished by a group of locals and their colourful language.

Decent food at reasonable prices. Good service from nice staff. Dining rooms a bit soulless compared with the character of the main bar.

Great village pub with great staff, food & beers. I've had to upgrade my review to 5 Stars...I made a very late request for a table for myself & my son for Xmas Eve & Helen, (who is awesome by the way), was able to squeeze us in. The food was AMAZING. I'm quite critical about meals when out dining if there is an issue, but the food we received was cooked and presented perfectly. The staff were all brilliant even though it was a really busy Xmas Eve service. It's not a big pub, so booking is advised, but it's lovely inside. The only small downside is it's size, but then maybe that's part of the venue's charm and therefore not a downside at all? Highly recommended with 6 Stars! 😎

Good food and beer, reasonable service. Under new ownership with a different Chef and menu as of January 2017. There was no fire and while the food was good, I missed the shepherd's pie on the old menu. It's just not quite the same G&D.

Good food in a beautiful listed building. Friendly staff. Only slight downside is the fairly limited food choices. But still caters for most choices.
