We had a great visit! We don’t visit National Trust sites often but we were in the area. We arrived early - note to visitors they are strict about open times, we had to wait until 10am to purchase a ticket (£12 per adult) and we couldn’t access the house until it opened at 11am. The grounds are very peaceful especially in the earlier hours when it opens. It’s well looked after. The House is a great place to walk around to understand an element of history to the area. I have to say, I was very impressed with the Volunteers’ knowledge. Great that they were there to support!

Interesting art and beautiful porcelain, personal I couldn't get very passionate about the art and overall the building is slightly underwhelming after researching the house before hand. I think we have been spoilt with the beautifully staged houses in movies, so that's my bad. The gardens are another story I found them stunning and peaceful. There were great seating areas for viewing ducklings, dragonflies and combination of trees as well as the water features. The best bit I found was the secret escape to the bod gardens, you weren't allowed to go through but could walk around and honestly it was worth coming just for that area. It was a shame that there was no benches to really immurse yourself. Also there is a lot of steps and some steep parts. As with all national trust place the food is pricey understandably given what they need to upkeep. There is a good balance of vegan and vegetarian options.

We had a great time here. It's not a big estate as National Trust properties go so you can see it all in a day quite easily. The house is very impressive with interesting artifacts inside. The gardens are well maintained and there are good pathways which are all well signposted. There are plenty of guides around too to make sure you are going in the right direction.

We stopped off here on our way back from Yorkshire to Somerset, I think we arrived the wrong time of year to see the full potential of the gardens, it must look wonderful when in full bloom. The art collection in the house is just amazing, Lord Bearsted had a very good eye! Well worth a visit.

Nice NT property with lots of open space. The gardens are landscaped into the hill side with a nice lake at the bottom. The house is more like an art gallery with most rooms having paintings on every wall. It’s a 3-4 min walk from the car park but I believe there is a shuttle golf cart for people who can’t walk that for.

Upton house use to be my whole time favourite National trust house. It is such a shame that so much is now closed. The whole upstairs , kitchens , bunker, and the library were shut. I understand that they lack in staff and probably some funds to keep that many rooms open. It is quite an expensive day out for so little to see. ( If you dont have a subscription) The sea exhibition is interesting if you get to have a chat with the lady who does the sewing. Seeing the process making is really cool. As usual, the volunteers are lovely and very knowledgeable.

Lovely country house with beautifully maintained gardens and woodland walks. Some fairly steep slopes/ steps so challenging for the less mobile. Amazing art and porcelain collections.

What a jem, lovely house set in fabulous grounds. Although the house has had many alterations it's still very interesting. If you're into your art you will not be disappointed, some very special work on display. It also has a nice porcelain collection. A lovely cafe housed in the pavilion a short walk away from the house.

There is an extremely good art collection at Upton House (not all to my taste) but a few stand out pieces alone made the visit worthwhile. The garden by the house is small borders and lawn so not particularly special. Further into the ground the terraced borders, vegetable and flower garden are much more interesting. The bog garden was looking particularly good with autumn colours. Be warned the paths are steep and there are lots of steps. There is the usual good cafe, shop and plant sales.

A lovely trip with an interesting history. The house is beautifully furnished and the gardens were still wonderful even on a gloomy autumnal day. The grounds may be difficult to navigate on some paths for those with accessibility needs as the gardens are build on a steep hill side and have steep staircases. However, there are some more accessible routes either side of the main garden areas.

Lovely house and bee friendly gardens, loads of dragonfly's and butterfly's on the sunny day we were there. Not a huge site but nice variety of gardens, and nice walks through the woods. Good cafe with nice sheltered outdoor seating. Well worth a visit.

Fine house to visit, with great guides giving you detailed information about the incredible art pieces in this collection. Even to a novice like me it was fascinating. Another WOW moment happened in the beautiful gardens on discovering the Haha and it's amazing effect.

Interesting house and garden, very fortunate with good weather for visit. The room guides were enthusiastic and friendly, answering my questions.

Lovely house & extensive grounds. Lots of fine art paintings, tapestries & pottery. Warning, young children need careful supervision in the grounds at the rear due to some potentially dangerous drops over sheer wall. Some steep steps to climb back

Huge collection of paintings, see website for details. Gorgeous gardens, lawns, woodland walks, a few benches. Nice shop, cafeteria in it's own area very good.

Beautiful house and gardens, plenty of interesting architecture and design of the house is symmetrical, which is very grandeur to enhance the grounds and location, inside the house has some fabulous painting and portraits of the family and workers on the estate, also great displays of both English and Chinese designed pottery, with the furniture is very much of the same period, Lovely library and balcony overlooking the lounge below, stairs leading to the lounge and billiards room. The whole house is been designed by the shell tycoon in the 1930s.. To keep you interested in health and wellbeing with woodland walks, tiers similar to villa d'Este gardens, lake and sunken tennis court or bowls, swimming pool and indoor squash court, never mind the large surrounds of countryside to go horse riding, the Marcus Samuel Viscount Bearsted.. Had a passion for the high life and socializing. Great cafe, garden plants and some of the products grown in the grounds too, lovely little shop and book shop too in the upper floor of the suas court viewing area, in the squash court beautiful display of fabric artwork for sale. Today on the terrace music artist singing themed songs from the 40s 50s etc..such a beautiful day.. Definitely worth a visit..

A large house, gallery and museum in reality, set in fabulous and beautifully kept gardens. The art collection is vast as is the collection of porcelain. The guides were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, as were the hardworking gardeners toiling away in the full Sun! The café was well stocked, and we had very good coffee and scones there. We will certainly return one day, as there is just so much to see, and beautiful grounds to walk in.

Another lovely national trust property. Beautiful house with lovely art collections and amazing oil paintings gallery. Beautiful unique landscaped garden and mini walks surrounding the property. It has a restaurant serving variety of food and teas. Plenty of parking. Some parts of the property was closed today but we enjoyed watching the paintings and its history.

Beautiful house, amazing collection of priceless timeless paintings. Not all the chef-d'oeuvres could be seen sadly. The main room was closed, and an astonishing Canaletto was hidden behind a Christmas tree. The treasured garden was closed due to high winds... So, a return visit would be in order.

Lovely National Trust property. Cosy house, known for art collection. Lovely gardens but main one with pond is on a slope so would not suit if find steps or slope difficult. There is a flat lawn.

Interesting house with a great collection of paintings, ceramics and furniture. The real star of Upton are it's tiered gardens with beautiful views of the rolling countryside. The bog are magnificent. Great cafe with tasty food.

A lovey place to go and have a look round the gardens. We didn’t go into the house as we were too late but it was still a beautiful place to visit. It was also refreshing that they only allow assistance dogs so we didn’t have to worry about badly trained dogs.

Beautiful place to explore! Enjoy a walk through the gardens and down to the mirror pool where there are plenty of benches to sit on and have a picnic. The bog garden, located to the rear of the sunken garden, is real gem! There's a cottage at the back of the bog garden which is tucked away, and the birdsong is so loud there! Despite there being a lot of visitors, there are a lot of places where you can sit and reflect. Inside the main house is an art gallery and porcelain collection. I've never been a fan of art, but I throughly enjoyed looking at the paintings and reading about them in the guidebooks. My favourite of the paintings had to be the 'five senses' depicted in paintings of peasants by Jan Steen. Staff were friendly and approachable. The whole place had a peaceful and relaxed vibe, I loved it.

We visited Upton House on a Tuesday, so it was a lot less crowded than it probably would have been on the weekend. The house is interesting if you like paintings but is certainly not the most interesting building within the National Trust. The gardens are nice but not very extensive so if you want a long walk then probably not Ideal. There are also quite a few steps and significant changes in levels to the front garden leading down to the pond that would be difficult for some elderly and disabled people. Having said all that it is still a lovely location made better by the presence of a nice restaurant/café and shop. The staff and volunteers were lovely as always 😁

It's a beautiful place yo visit. I'll start with parking which is free, clean. You can buy your ticket or scan your membership card at the entrance and enter the area. You can immediately see the house when you turn left. It has a fine collection of arts in there which you can enjoy. You can find shop, toilets and café close to each other. The house surrounded by beautiful gardens with huge ponds. It's like the house is over the hill. All in all it's a nice place to visit and relax.

Pleasant estate in the Cotswold region. As my visit was during the winter months a lot of pathways around the garden were closed although a winter walk route remained available. Time constraints did not allow me to visit the interior of the house, I understand that the galleries and art collection are one of the strong points of this property. I look forward to a revisit at some point when I imagine the gardens will begin to blossom and more pathways will be open. As with most National Trust estates there is a decent car park, cafe and toilet facilities. Admission charges apply to non-members.

Another NT gem, great house and art with the gardens to stroll around as well. Some steep tricky inclines to be aware of if elderly or mobility is limited. Very good cafe as well ..

The house has an extensive art collection donated to the Trust along with the house and gardens by Lord Bearsted whose father founded oil giant Shell. Although the garden still suffers from neglect as a result of the covid pandemic, the south facing hillside gardens are still spectacular. Usual tea room, car parking and facilities.
