Our second trip back to Cuba this year. This resort has been running for 23 years, and we have a 22-year bond with the workers and the place. We knew that the November opening was a soft opening. For 2 years it had been idle, with lots of new replacements. We were pleasantly surprised with our two-week stay and we have booked to return in January 2023. Only one week in January, everything was good but no chicken. A container load arrived after we got home. No fries yet. So we booked again for February 28 to March 28, "my home away from home". Have to check out the Club Beach Bar.

A horrible experience. I do not recommend to anyone. I am beginning because I paid for the all inclusive service and it turns out that on arrival I was told not had access to everything. Because there was an area where plus had to pay more and if he paid the plus area then if he had access to all-inclusive service. Very bad service minibar. I had to ask because when I arrived was not set . Towels not changed daily and pillows were very smelly . The service was lousy waiters . Most of the time were very serious as if they were upset. After 11 pm the hotel entertainment was scarce. The club was in a restaurant away the chairs and that was all. For me to be a 4 star hotel quality is horrible, bad and very bad . I do not even consider it a 1 star hotel . Finally were the worst holiday of my life . I was so disappointed by the service and the poor quality of the hotel. I do not recommend anybody because I think it's a money thrown away .

I have to comment on all these negative comments. I have been to Cuba over 30 times and yes there are issues but I have never starved and every hotel I've stayed at has been clean and well cared for with super friendly and caring staff If you want to complain you can always find something but after airfare you're paying around $40 a day . Think about it! If you want Gourmet go to another island and pay five times the price. I am staying at the Aston April 30 . I stayed in this resort and the hotel for a week in August for the first time and enjoyed it very much. It is a great place for families, single parents or couples. very clean rooms and very friendly staff. Great entertainments for children and adults during day and night. varieties of food and great displays. The only thing that I didn't like in the dinning room was that as soon as you take a table the staff come and move the clean win glasses if you don't use them right away . I really don't understand the logic of this practice. The other negative experience was the cut of running water in the room, which happened at the last night of our stay in this resort, which I can understand can happen in any place, but we had to leave the resort the next day without taking a shower. I don't really know if this happens often or just was my luck. however my child really enjoyed the pools and the friendly staff at the bar that gave him any drink that he requested, specially the aqua bar guys by the pool. The hotel is very secure for children to play and go around. I do rate this hotel 4 star hotel and I will recommend it to others. Thank you

A beautiful beach to swim in clear water and snorkel from the beach. Rich marine life and beautiful sunsets. My only complaint was the food, I get that there are limited resources, but they need to hire some chefs with more imagination and passion for food. They could cook way better dishes with what they already have.

Just came back from Christmas vacation from aston resort for the 2nd time. Amazing resort with amazing people. Everyone us very nice, friendly and always with a smile on the face. Food: great food. can't ask for more. from fresh fruits, cheese to all meals, everything very good and tasty. complements to the chef. great drinks, shout out to Jerry at pool bar. what a great guy and great drinks. Rooms: big rooms and bathrooms, glass showers with hot, hot water. new big tv if any one cares. Beach: outstanding beach and water. snorkeling right on side. no need to boom and pay for any snorkeling trips. water shoes recommended. Service: really nice ladies everywhere. no force to tip. you always get a great service and smile wit or without tipping. gifts are always welcome. Notes: no cash at the gift shop, credit cards only. Free wifi.

Stayed here several times! Great place to relax on the clean, sandy beach or lounge by the pools. Always activities to do with the welcoming staff, bocce, dance, aqua gym (with Edward, Adrian etc.). Good buffet options, restaurants and drinks. Nice spacious rooms within walking distance of everything. Would return again and recommend to others for sure!

Great resort, the best food I had in a resort hands down. Book a room in ''The Club'', it gives you access to an extra restaurant and it makes all of the difference. Beach is beautiful, nice spots for snorkeling. Rooms are spacious and tidy Awesome staff, everyone very friendly. Especially Alejandro, Alexander (Churchill Bar), Idania (Club house restaurant), Leo (Beach bar), Leyanis (animation), Cesar (animation), Guillermo (barman), Adrian (animation), Jerry (pool bar) and Norge (the best server). I highly recommend, had a very nice week.

We normally visit Varadero, but thought we’d give Holquin a try and it didn’t disappoint. We loved how clean and friendly the hotel was. We loved how engaging the entertainment team (Edward, Caesar, Juan Carlos) was and we loved loved loved the beach! Will be back!

The staff at this resort are professional and world class. They had just reopened when I went there for the first time and despite re opening challenges , they listened to suggestions with thoughtfulness and followed through. The rooms were clean and the staff knew our names immediately. I plan on going there again.

Amaizing place! Food- better than other places. All the meats, fish, different sides, fruits! If you appreciate fresh organic local food this place is for you. Service- very professional. I feel they really care. If problems occur they solve immediately. When we arrived safe in the room was not working. We called reception. In 5 min someone came to fix. Light was not working, was fixed within 2 hours. Water delivery on time!(we had worst experience in Varadero). Cleaning ladies are amaizing. Beach- the best of all for hotels around! Pools are huge and very clean! Rooms- clean, very comfortable, smart TV. Internet - everywhere! Even on the beach. We stayed in the building far from hotels and had amaizing reception. Hotel is very clean, staff not only nice but also professional! Do not bring much cash. Only for tips and market. At all stores they are using cards! Do not change to cuban money. You do not need them here.

This was my first time in Cuba and I came terrified for the food but excited for the beaches. Beach at this resort is 11/10, we walked the whole beach and Aston’s part is the best. Also it most importantly has the best beach bartender, Leo!!! Of course there were some shortages and some days you couldn’t quite get the food or drinks you wanted but all the absolutely incredible staff are happy to make you an alternative. We had tons of fabulous drinks, alcoholic and non, great rum and coffee here! I am not saying it’s Michelin star food but I was never hungry and there was always variety to choose from. Amazing ice cream, fresh fruits and veggies every day, well cooked and seasoned meats and there was sauces, including Ketchup. (I would bring my own hot sauce but that’s just me!) The rooms were clean and cool, big TV and comfy bedding. We did pay extra for an ocean view which I will warn means WAYYY more walking as the buildings are further but I loved the view and I love to walk! Also rides are always available around the resort if you don’t. And Wifi is as strong there as the main area! The resort was not too full so some areas weren’t open, do wish the beach restaurant was but you can get snacks 24/7 at the main bar and it’s not too far. Events were still running and entertainment was fantastic! I have seen prettier buildings but everything is fresh and clean and the plants everywhere are gorgeous. Shop in the hotel is convenient as well. Close by shopping at the market too. Loved that you could take kayaks and other boats out whenever you wanted, really added to the week for me. The snorkelling was outstanding, saw so many fish and the reefs are easy to swim to. Just adored the beach and it was never too busy, plenty of chairs, we spent almost all our time there. Pools are nice too but too shallow for me, great for kids I’m sure! First time visiting but certainly not our last! Thank you to the excellent staff!!! (PSA to warn anyone who is as naive as me please pack medication, not blaming the hotel as we went other places too and I was not careful about water but I had some pretty serious stomach problems and am used to being able to buy meds but could not find any here)

It was really nice. First of all I wanna thank to the Entertainment Staff they made our holidays more fun specially to Edward García. In general we loved the hotel. It's really clean and comfortable 😌. For sure we will be back

5 stars! Fun time at Aston with animation team Edward, Yudith, Adrian and friends. Ice cream at buffet, nice palm trees, big beach to walk along. Market close to the resort. Went with family. Excited to go back again!

True to the international rating of 4*. Beach and pools were awesome. Snorkeling from the beach was convenient and lots of fish to see. Access to scuba diving as well. Rooms were average perhaps a bit above as we had an issue with our shower head and it was repaired within an hour. Bathroom was a tiled walk in shower and up to date. Cannot speak to the TV as we never turned it on, we spent all our time out of our room enjoying the beach, pools and bars. Supplies and food options were limited as we expected in this near post pandemic travel time. However, the buffet always had options, and the a la carts were tasty. Servers were attentive and very pleasant, plus training new ones. Would definitely recommend and will stay again.

Clean, calm hotel with nice rooms and pools. But the best part of this hotel is the beach: protected bay, white sand, calm and crystal clear water, not too many people, no loud music!! There is no beach in the area that can match Pesquero! All other beaches have waves and unclear water. The hotel is literally by the beach, everything is conveniently arranged. HOWEVER, be ready to eat exactly the same food every day in this hotel!! I have no idea but for 4 days, for dinners we got exactly the same chicken, cut and cooked exactly the same way, for lunch exactly the same fish cooked exactly the same way :) I have no idea why the chef would not try to cut the chicken in different ways :) The beach is so perfect, it is a pity that the hotel chef is so boring.

It was great spending our holidays at Aston. It is a magical place where all your dreams come true. I wanna thank to Edward the entertainer for his friendship and treatment. For sure we will come again.

Not really a 4 star resort my UK hotel standards but it could be a lot worse. VIP rooms are large and comfy with huge ensure but no bath. No kettle only a coffee percolator. Several restaurants and all were fine or good. Main buffet hall has dozens of options every meal. Fresh salads are nice. VIP bar is the best on resort. Small, quiet and better drinks. VIP pool is large and never crowded. Sun all day. Private beach. Nice staff.

A wonderful experience! The best customer service. Thank you to the Hotel Manager and all his staff for their help. My mother-in-law was very happy celebrating her birthday and her delicious cake. The beach was beautiful, and the gardens wonderful. Thanks for all!

Stayed for 2 weeks. Pros: most beautiful beach with colorful fish, average food with amazing pan fried pork(and i mean amazing) and organic chicken(I could eat there everyday), quick service at restaurants and staff that treat you like a dear friend, lots of activities on resort with gym, beach volleyball, basketball court to keep you active and busy, cheap horse buggies to the market. Safe resort and country in general Overall a very reasonable price for everything you get. Would go back

Horrible! I wish I never booked this place. The food and drinks are horrible. It’s just like they don’t care about what you eat or drink. I will never come back to this place again.

It was an amazing resort to visit,everything was fantastic,foods,sorroundinds is highly maintain and the beach is nice. I loved and will likely return there.

Personally the pool bar bartenders were exceptional. Ask for Micheal and Jerry. We kept them really busy all week. Pool, rooms, pretty much the whole resort was kept very clean at all times. Definitely would be back to thus resort.

If you go, don't expect the standard of a 4 star hotel in the UK. That said, we had a brilliant time, the place was clean, well kept and the staff were really friendly. To make the most of your holiday, take some money and go on the trips run from the hotel. We took the time to explore Cuba and it was amazing.

This hotel and resort was in the middle of being taken over by a new management company and this really showed with how some of the staff weren't really interested in their jobs even if you tipped them. The resort is in a great location on a really nice beach but is in need of some TLC which I'm sure will happen once fiesta Americana has completed the takeover.

Really enjoyed everything at this resort. Beach is great and clean. all the resort was spotless. Food was excellent with good service - there's plenty of tables and room to lounge. Only issue was our room was on top floor of block 2 - and rain blew in above the patio window. that and the mattress could be better.

Hoping to get back soon. Love this resort and the people. Food is great. Beach is nice but lots of coral so make sure you wear beach shoes in the water.

Spent 1 week at this resort and the food was great. The service was good. The best part was the beach, amazing clear blue water, you can start snorkeling pretty much 20 ft from the shore and you can see all variety of fish near the reef. They have free kayaking, paddle boats, catamarans, wind surfing. We had a blast.

I am here now and am having a great time. 1 pool is closed for renovations but the other pool is great and beach is awesome. Employees are wonderful and service is great. I've seen some bad reviews about the food but I haven't went hungry yet.
