Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India. Known primarily as a habitat of the great Indian bustard, the species has suffered a drastic fall in its numbers in the sanctuary in recent years. Rollapadu is primarily a grassland ecosystem with mixed forests and thorny bushes. Cotton, tobacco and sunflower are cultivated in the agricultural lands that border the sanctuary. Also plants communities like Ziziphus mauritiana, Cassia fistula, Acacia, Butea monosperma etc. are very useful for bird's nesting at Rollapadu.

Best time to visit this sanctuary is August and October. Sanctuary management has also providing wild safari in the morning (in Aug & oct). Best place visit with friends and family. Management allows only 2 or 3 batches of safari in the peak days that to 7pm to 10pm. Safari duration is 1hour. Cost is 500 for 4 members. Sanctuary infrastructure has to be improved and maintenance also. It's very famous visit spot throughout the state. It is 17 Km from the Nandikotkur. Roadway was good and well maintained. Be careful will drive to sanctuary. There were several camers watching you. (Please don't distrub the nature) Thank you🙂

The place is simply a wonderful home for blackbucks with perfect nature background with open and flat grasslands. Five an hours drive from Hyderabad, near Kurnool. Staying accommodation is very limited as they only have only four guest rooms (basic food arranged for in-house guests). Plan for a day trip along with food items; you don't have any restaurants until you back to Kurnool.

This sanctuary is famous for the Great Indian Bustard ..which almost looks like an ostrich ..... This bird lays just only one egg in a year...due to which this bird population in and around India is getting extincted....only 110 birds are left in our whole country... We could see many of the deers ...(in telugu known as krishna jinkalu ) ....as per the sources they told around 700 deers are living in this place... Many varieties of birds are there and place looks calm and gives us the extraordinary feeling during the safari journey ...

Probably the best sanctuary I visited. Everything seems great in the trip. Yet there are few things to consider. Like, there will no hotel near by either to stay or to eat. If you have a camera you need to pay 500 rupees for entering into the sanctuary. We also need to pay 500 even we brought our own vehicle or for hiring the safari vehicle. Visit shanmukeshdadi.online for more interesting pictures taken in Rollapadu.

This place is really wonderful for those who love to spend time watching birds. Safari into vast grass fields will take us to different world,we spotted countless blackbucks and different verities of birds. Temperature will be a bit higher, best time to visit is either in the early mornings or in the evenings, either case better to take a forest guest house accommodation (They have only 4 rooms as of now). Staff are very friendly and supportive.

It’s home to the Many birds as well, safari is worth the money and the operator is so co operative. He explains everything very patiently. The safari ticket is 500 will be 1hour and more and it’s worth the money . Looking forward to visit in the best season for migratory birds.

One of the best grasslands of South India and resident to Lesser florican and Great Indian Bustard ( both can be sighted at a specific period of the year). I was fortunate to sight Lesser florican mating display of a male. Apart from this it's hone to greater variety of birds and other life forms. It's home to spotted deer and Black buck which manage the balance of the grassland

Only 5% of travellers visit this place. But in my opinion, everyone should visit this place. It's a heaven for blackbucks, deers, peacocks, Great Indian Bustard -an endangering bird and so many other beautiful birds. Plan your safari either morning or evening. The way to reach this place is little tough. But can drive the car till there. Staying options inside the sanctuary also available. Safari charge is 500. It's around 1 hour. You can see beautiful running deers and blackbucks. The staffs are very co-operative. The mud present here are like beautiful gems. Perfect round in shape. Rich in iron. View from the view point is awesome.

Officials were very friendly and gave a good tour about the sanctuary. There is a safari maintained by forest dept costing ₹500 for 1hr. All migratory birds including The Great Indian Bustard are mostly expected to be seen between August to October.

Good place for birdwatching (based on the migratory birds) apart from that you can see black bucks and couple of landscape views. Safari charge - 500 (max of 6 to 8 ppl) for 2-3 hrs Camera - 500 (don't opt if you don't have any telephoto less) And they have museum about the visiting birds and a documentary film is being played.

Staff is helpful the campus is also nice .. very open barren land but this spot was nice surrounded by trees. Govt shud promote such places these are really worth

Visit only in the morning or in the evening. We took the safari during the day/ Didnt see many birds but only a few deer and Sambar. The staff was courteous and the safari ride was also moderately priced.

It is a very big sanctuary area wise. As per the information from Forest department office available in the Sanctuary there are hundreds of Black bucks in this Sanctuary which is in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. But I could able to see only one Black buck at the very entrance of sanctuary which was running besides the road and out of actual boundary or fence of the Sanctuary. Somehow I failed to click that Black buck as I saw it for a fraction of second while I was driving. one can find lots of birds in this plain lands. I visited this place in December 2015 and I found those plain lands covered with golden color grass all over. Also one can find a reservoir called Alaganuru balancing reservoir where you can find lots of interesting birds. I felt this Sanctuary has very good scope to improve and attract visitors if Andhra government took initiative to develop this Sanctuary by introducing wild life safari etc..

A small sanctuary which is open to public. It does not have any entry fee or safari rides. You do need permission from DFO before going in though. The local guides are helpful and will identify the species there for you too. Do visit only with 4*4 vehicle in monsoons.

3* because I cant post review without rating. Trying to be neutral. We just went. There was nothing there. Since the sanctuary is for migratory birds. They said the best season is when grass is long. That is few months after rainy season. Preferably September- November preferably.

One of the less known n less portrayed indias second largest grass land ecosystem with stretch of nearly 1000kms lovely view in season especially frm august to october with varied number of birds deers n many more.. Maintainance is not at its best ad especially in off season at its worst over all.. Hoping the govt wil take proper care. In season its a treat for esthetic n nature lovers... Many people from.different countries also will come here for photography of various birds ..
