The fort is just amazing and will take your breath away. A definite place to visit if you love forts. The google maps pin is incorrect. Once you cross the gooty bus stand and take a right and enter the fort walls, better ask the locals for the fort and they will direct you. Its a straight road to the very end but better ask than get lost. Once you arrive at the fort entrance, you will be asked to make an entry in a register. Though the fort timings are listed as starting from 9AM there were folks who had logged an entry at 6am. When asked about it, was told we could come in early too. There is a APSTDC booth/stall near the path starting the fort trek but its not been opened yet. As for the trek, its amazing. Its about 3.5 to 4km one way and expect to spend atleast 3-4 hours on the trip. And if you want to take time to explore every nook and corner, it can take upto 5 hours. It is very hot, even during this time of the month so carry atleast 2L of water per person. You can trek upto the very top where there is a small tower from where the view all around is just amazing. Definitely worth the trip, you wont be disappointed.

Hill Fort is having lots from fortification, bastions and many monuments. Fort known to be constructed in or early Chalukya Period. Then later came under the control of the Vijayanagara Empire. During the reign of Venkata II the Vijayanagara lost the fort to the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The Mughals appear to have controlled the fort after their conquest of the Qutb Shahi capital Golconda. Around 1746 CE, the Maratha general Murari Rao captured the fort, and made it his permanent residence eight years later. He repaired the fort, and commissioned the stucco ornamentation of the small gateways. In 1775 CE, the Mysore ruler Hyder Ali attacked and besieged the fort. After two months, Murari Rao was forced to surrender, as he ran out of water supplies. The fort later came under the control of the East India Company.

Date of Visit: December 2023, Gooty fort is one of the oldest and most prominent forts in Rayalaseema region. The summit is 1700ft high above surrounding ground level. Tips for visit: 1. There is no ticket for visit. One person per group has to fill his contact details along with Aadhar card details. 2. The trek is easy-medium scale and takes 3 hours total (to and fro). 3. There are absolutely no facilities for toilets or drinking water. 4. There are no information boards or any way boards along trek aparr from just one 'ASI protection zone' board at the base. 5. There is zero maintenance. 6. Since the place is hot and dry, it is better to start the trek early. 7. The access to the base is through very narrow streets of the town. 8. The parking is provided in one barren land next to the base office and is not proper. 9. But the views and the historic experience is worth. Must see place if you are a trekking or history enthusiast. History: The fort dates back to Western Chalukyan era (10th Century C.E.) and was expanded to it's best under the Vijayanagara rulers. It later fell to Qutub Shahis and Mughals. It was captured by Murari Rao Ghorpade, A Maratha general in 1746 CE. The fort was besieged by Hyder Ali in 1775 and later was under control of East India Company. Architecture: The fort is situated on high rough cluster of steep and bare Rocky hills connected by lower spurs. The hills are connected by ramapart walls, built of irregular red granite blocks pointed with lime mortar. There are more than 100 bastions and 14 gateways. There are several ruined structures like Rangamahal, Horse stable, kitchen, jail, etc. One can see the transition of architecture of various eras, the coexistence of Islamic motifs of later date along with vijayanagara architectural elements.

Fort if maintained with food , water and park facilities would be better.. for adventure and scenic lovers the fort would give awe experience. The view points can be reconstructed which makes this fort better than Golkonda for its beautiful aerial views

Previously this place was known as Gowthampuri and later renamed as Gooty. The earliest inscriptions on the walls of this fort date back to the 7th century. As per the inscriptions, the place was called as Gadha meaning Fort while an inscription of Bukkaraya mentions this place as King of Forts.Gooty Fort is one of the oldest hill forts of Andhra Pradesh. It fort was made of granite rocks and the domes were constructed with fine stone, mortar and Lime ensuring the sustainability. Built in the shape of a shell, this fort actually comprises of 15 small forts with different gateways. The out wall with bastions connects all the gateways of smaller forts. The fort also features two imposing buildings, one of which is a gymnasium, while other is a barrack. On the edge of the cliff, there is a pavilion of polished limestone called Morari Rao’s seat

Gooty Fort is a historical fort located in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It's known for its impressive architecture and historical significance. While it's not directly related to fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, MHD flows, or engineering mathematics, I can still provide you with information about the fort's history, architecture, and any notable events associated with it.

This is the biggest fort in sorrounding areas. The history of this place dates back to more than 500 years. The ruins above the hill top looks fantastic. You can go there all the way to the top and you will find the look mesmerizing. A place worth visiting

Gooty fort is one of the best forts in Andhra Pradesh, architecture wise and very complicated too...but not popular as it should be ...trekking itself is hard. It is constructed on one hill and surrounded by 4 hills...

It would be amazing if accompanied by friends. There is no facility of foods or water over the top of Fort. No guide is found. But in the presence of guide it would be great thing knowing about history.

If you want to climb to the top of the place i advice take 2 bottles of water as there's no water available nearby and don't throw away the empty bottles. You've show your ID and register your name before entry and after you exit. The climb is not very steep but it's long. The place is littered with plastic bottles. Once you read half of the way you'll get beautiful view of the surrounding. I couldn't go to the peak so can't talk of my experience there. Good trekking shoes and cap needed and start early morning to avoid exhaustion.

The place is good. You can have 360 degree view from top. But maintenance is nil even the walk path is also not maintained. No one to guide. No drinking water n washrooms. If the development work is taken it could be one of the best tourism place.
